[Processing] Dr. Crane's Vibrating Blue Squirrel
TishinaStalker replied to LordFowl's topic in Completed Items
Uh... I'm sorry, but I want to call you out on "Vibrating Blue Squirrel is a lesser known RPG term used to describe a functionless item that the main character in an RPG must acquire to win the game" that explanation. As a very avid RPG player (both JRPG games like the whole Persona and Final Fantasy series amongst many others, and Western RPG games like the entire TES series, Dark Souls, etc.), I have never once seen nor heard anything related to the definition of this term you're claiming. An extensive Google search doesn't even give me any hint of this either. Now, I'm not here to dump on your application, but I feel (and I'm sorry for the accusation if it turns out I'm wrong) like you're lying about the term in order to make your application seem more legitimate? -
What do you mean by "current camera locations for AIs"?
-
Glad we could get the insult thing sorted. I'll gladly accept your apology. Now, you understand why it seems more like an IC issue, right? I mean, sure, it can still be rule breaking if staff give you permission to do something (like if staff give you permission to detonate a max yield bomb 4 no raisins in medical, then you can assure both you and the admin would suffer consequences for it) within reason, but generally when it's something like this, permission is given if we believe it would create RP; otherwise we would ask them to take a different route (this is talking about the conflict side). Coupled with that, Tainavaa is right. Heads of staff are primarily issued an energy pistol for self defense (generally at least amateurs in expertise) and a flash. The flash is generally for the same purpose, but the flash allows the head of staff to stop someone in the department when Security is unable to, and then bring them to the brig (which all heads have access to for a reason). If there is no Security, all Sec assets are tasked out with bigger fish to fry or the situation is urgent (such as needing to fire a person refusing to leave), then it's up to a head of staff to stop them. (This to address Jackboots actions at Sec's job.

Because a normal person not trying to be a badass goes around insulting people that have the means to hurt very sensitive parts of their body, right? http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/employee-rights-book/chapter8-2.html This is just for future reference when it comes to sexual harassment (because IC sexual harassment is really common on the server due to the fact that most of us are used to using that kind of language OOC'ly). Please quote me the exact part in my post where I said "Houssam would go unfired". If there was another head of staff or Security, then it was their duty to stop him, and (for a head of staff) to suspend him pending review. IC consequence for his actions. And this is the part of your post where I'll leave you off on. Disrespect of staff carries a zero tolerance policy (at this point, it's not even the fact that you were disrespecting staff, it's more of that I can tell you would've told this to anyone, and that is not okay, but this is a reminder). I'm here trying to have a polite discussion, and then you come and insult my intelligence. I gave you my thoughts on why it seemed like an IC issue, and you were to use my information/conclusion as to why should be an OOC issue. I tried seeing from your point of view, I really did, but the conclusions I was arriving to was "not an OOC issue". I would be happy to give you my support, but I'm not going to give you my support if you are going to insult me while I'm trying to be perfectly polite. Next time you're angry or "salty", then maybe the best idea isn't to go talk to people because that's how you insult people without wanting to. Try going for a walk, maybe listen to some music, do something to compose yourself before you do something; emotions carry over to actions. Have a nice day.

Rebecca Inn is incapable of hate. Hate is a very strong word for her (much like me). Even while verbally abused by the crew, she just keeps telling herself that she has to suck it up, and hope for the best. it's to the point where Rebecca only has five or so friends, and 3/5 are security personnel. OOC'ly, I dislike most of the crew, and I feel like harmbatoning anyone for so much as uttering the word "shit" because I'm sick and tired of the stigma. I want to stop playing Rebecca as a nice person, but the fact that it wouldn't align with her character is what stops me because she wants to believe that everybody is capable of being good and hopes that they'll change. My first several shifts as security when I started playing on Aurora made me feel like leaving. Why? Because people were literally revolting on the station when it wasn't even rev. I had all of these crazy tajarans that wanted to play super edgy cool badass, and would oppose sec no matter what. I had all of these doctors that only cared about their friends, and one that would refuse to treat me after getting shot by a traitor with a revolver, solely because I arrested them earlier in the shift (spoiler alert, I died in reception from internal bleeding, and was only revived twenty minutes later when the CMO discovered my corpse in the morgue). At one point I got firebombed by an engineer because I tried arresting him for jumping the bar for drinks (was probably an antag, but the buildup to do it speaks for itself). Then there was the time the ENTIRE crew wanted security's blood solely because security arrested the Vox after the notification from the Icarus or whatever the NMV is. Then came the day where I had to keep a suicide watch person in reception for half an hour because the CMO locked himself up in his office, and refused to come out while claiming "he will not do security's job" despite the fact that suicide risks are MEDICAL'S job. For my first few shifts I was essentially under constant attack and death threats as a fucking cadet. I was scared of being officer because I thought then I would get drawn and quartered for sure. Then I got sick and tired of all that shit, and decided to play medical and science, but I noticed that no matter who is in your non-sec department, who is in security, and what non-sec department you are in, security carries a stigma for everyone no matter what. Everybody hates security. Everybody talks bad about security no matter what. Even captains and HoPs on the security channel itself constantly remind us how incompetent we are if we so much as blink without their approval. Those red shirts. Those brutes. Those damn apes.

If I might chime in my thoughts here: It sounds to me like this is an IC issue. Jackboot had staff approval. He took your headset, but didn't leave you completely devoid of RP since he stayed (as the mocking is conflict in which you showed that you were actively engaged in). Coupled with this, you tried to play cool kid cat, and lost? If he didn't want to accep your apology, then it's because you seemed insincere to him because if being flashed several times resulted in Rai not realizing sooner that insults = flash (which has to be a very painful experience if you've ever felt pain in your eyes), then he has no reason to want it; resulting in Houssam ignoring or not having her apology. Edit: Furthermore, you state that you didn't expect Houssam would do any of this. Next time you try playing edgy person that thinks they can get away with anything because there's no security, you should think twice because heads of staff can detain and brig you for breaking regulations. I mean, Rai resorted to sexual harassment in the workplace. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen, but Jackboot dealt with it in a way more beneficial for NT. Every bad action has a consequence; it's part of being an adult. As a closing note to my post, I think you should take into account how your character feels about things. Nobody is allowed to do what they want because lolnosecurity because tell me why an employer would permit an adult in the workplace if that adult needs a security force present in order to be responsible. Your character would proooobay be afraid of being fired post shift. You kept trying to be cool and badass, Jackboot stopped you, didn't want to leave you completely alone, and created RP for you by staying with you during the fifteen minutes sentence. I'm not seeing the OOC issue.

[Accepted] Mirkoloios Antag Unban Request.
TishinaStalker replied to mirkoloio's topic in Unban Requests Archive
With all due respect, Valkrae, this isn't the place for that discussion. Next time, just message Delta and the appealer. Appeal has been accepted, and I'll notify someone to have you unbanned from all antag roles (Vampire, ERT, Traitor, etc.) since I won't be home today. Cause no trouble. -
Alright, but what sort of visual could we have for a person reaching into their bag/belt? Maybe a text log that shows up if the player is being aimed at, and then reaches into their bag?

Alrighty. I'll leave your appeal open for another day, in the case that other staff have an objection. If no objections arise, then consider your appeal accepted! -
[Accepted] Mirkoloios Antag Unban Request.
TishinaStalker replied to mirkoloio's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Nonono, hold on, haha. I'm not telling you "STOP PLAYING NUKE OPS" because that would be terrible of me. Better planning, collaborating with your team is supremely important. Also, of course, after the shuttle arrives all antagonistic action stops, but if you guys have been doing stealth ops the entire shift, and then CT passes don't go and see how many people you can shoot up because that can fall under a dick move (which lots of people also consider EoR grief). Are we understood on that? -

Lord Fowl's Dionaea Whitelist
TishinaStalker replied to LordFowl's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Title fixed in order to avoid confusion with other whitelist staff. -
Assistants on the station are supposed to go to the HoP if they want to be assigned to something more specific, guys. Instead of this little function, then go to the HoP, and you can make RP there if he so chooses to accept or deny your application or maybe he decides to give you a little aptitude test of sorts. Cutting out the middle man is always efficient, but is it ever the most enjoyable? No because it cuts out interaction.

What a shame then? I mean, buckling can just easily be fluffed (from an IC point of view) that you just, oh, I don't know, sat down? It's not like every single chair has a seat belt, dude.

[Accepted] Mirkoloios Antag Unban Request.
TishinaStalker replied to mirkoloio's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Hello! So, just to make sure, you understand why deliberately breaking a rule got you this antag ban, right? How are you going to avoid this in the future? You've already showed me you learned from this, so lets apply that to these questions. -
The passive aggression ends here and now too, Inverted. It's getting to the point where you are, between the lines, attacking and demeaning other players, and that's not going to happen on my watch. With all due respect to the person that started the thread, cease using the passive aggression tactics and tone post-haste. That is what keeps antagonizing people and causing the disorder and chaos that is literally this entire thread. This goes to everyone: Cease all of the destructive arguments like using terms such as "butthurt" when referring to another person, diminishing their role in the discussion, etc. Just like with people getting off-topic, I don't care who started it or why they're continuing it. Cease this, and have a polite discussion for once.

Appeal has been accepted, and you have been unbanned from all antag roles (Vampire, ERT, Traitor, etc.) Cause no trouble.

Okay. Do NOT discuss things about you or other characters. That is not the point of this thread. This thread is about why IPCs cannot be heads of staff. With all due respect to everyone, take your quarrels to a different subforum or a third party messenger. If your post doesn't have something to contribute to the topic, then kindly do not add it, and leg it to a different place where it can be relevant. I don't care who started it, and absolutely don't care why ya'll were arguing about something unrelated on this topic. This goes to anyone and everyone that has posted or plans on posting something unrelated to the thread.

Replace Morgue with Cold Storage; Putting dead bodies to use
TishinaStalker replied to Erik Tiber's topic in Archive
I have a better idea to build upon yours. Instead of changing the Morgue, use this for the freezer room next to Surgery. I assume organs don't die over time because at one point Phoebe tore out somebody's still beating heart from a dead patient. We can just put a different looking morgue tray, rename it, place it in the freezer room, and we can just assume IC'ly that the room/tray is made for exactly this (assuming that organs don't die over time mechanically). This will give surgeons a reason to actually use that room, and the freezers in it. If the person is an organ donor, then hack them up like that, and then put them in the morgue. If they're not, stick them in the morgue. I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that the morgue trays are made (from an IC standpoint) to keep the bodies preserved. This way, we have an unused room to actually use, and we don't have to change the morgue that already has its own use (which is an autopsy of somebody that died in a way that isn't linked to a criminal investigation [like a workplace accident] because then that's the Forensic Technician's job, and you shouldn't do their job like that). -
Hartburry Skrell Whitelist App v2.0
TishinaStalker replied to Hartburry's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Title changed to avoid confusion since you didn't add "Skrell" to it. -
Alrighty, that checks out. Glad that you learned from this experience, and I'll be more than happy to see to it your job ban is removed. I'll leave this open for another day, just in case any staff members want to raise an objection against you. If none arise, then consider your appeal accepted.

[Accepted] New Religion [dodekatheon]
TishinaStalker replied to NebulaFlare's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
I could definitely see one of my characters being a Dodekatheonist if that would be the term. I love the idea of this religion. -
Hello! You say the bomb strayed too close to the engine, but this tells me that it was more of an accident. I don't understand how (when trying to breach into the department itself) you could've permitted a bomb to have detonated right next to an emitter, which then essentially knocked out the little power grid all of the emitters are running on. That seemed almost too methodical if you ask me, coupled with the fact that you told me you wanted to "destroy the engine". Now, because I don't want to keep you antag banned for long, tell me how the bomb just strayed next to this extremely important part of the station, and how you will avoid doing this in the future, please.

Guys, just do what I do: Code Green: Revolver stays in locker at all times. Flash in backpack. Code Blue: Revolver is in holster in box, on person when needing to check maint tunnels, but more lax on keeping my finger on the H key. Flash in pocket. Code Red: Holster's on person with finger ready on the H key at all suspicious times. If there's even one officer with you, then let them handle it. If they get taken down while you're watching, then aim while not-restricting walking. Because if you don't restrict item-use, then they'll probably pick up the officer's dropped equipment, and use it on you. From an IC standpoint, would you drop down to pick up the officer's taser or stun baton while somebody has a lethal weapon trained on you? If you answer "Yes", then that shows you have no sense of self-preservation, want to continue being a threat, and you fully deserve getting lit up like the night sky in the Fourth of July while losing all rights to complain about Detectives since you gave them no other option. If the perp doesn't do anything until the officer gets up, then lower your aim after the officer stuns/flashes/peppersprays the perp or order them to the floor and then flash or cuff them based on the officer's condition. The gun is to take control. A lethal firearm shows YOU'RE in charge in a situation like this where the officer(s) is(are) down, and the perp has no ranged capability. Even antagonists need to keep in mind their self preservation because everyone wants to live. The only situation I can see this not being the case, is if you know that holding until transfer would end with execution by Sol Gov because even life sentences can be repealed for good behavior, but it would be best to clear up with staff when you're in a quiet, secluded place (to not endanger yourself) so we don't go "wtf who is taking 20 bullets and still robusting officers with batons? ban." If all antags were Tony "YOU THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME? YOU NEED A FUCKING ARMY TO TAKE ME!" Montana where they can take 4 bullets to the head and keep charging (detective's gun only does a laughable, but still serious, amount of brute), then that would be bad. Why? Because then we would have to make the same exception for everyone else: Avoiding pain. That would lead to horrendous RP. "You have a bullet lodged in your skull." "Big whoop." "Dude, IN your skull." "Shut the fuck up, and get me some oxycodone and bicaridine, asshole." "-Avoid pain. A sane, well-rounded character would not engage in actions that are overly painful, or put themselves in harm's way without consideration (e.g. going EVA without a suit, stabbing themselves repeatedly, or continue to run at someone after being shot multiple times.)" "-Being an antagonist does not exempt you from any server rules." "Powergaming = Also know as 'playing to win'." Just because a bullet does a laughable amount of damage, does not in any way, shape or form give you the permission to just shrug it off with a laugh. Why? Because it's a bullet. Furthermore, this message ITSELF tells you not to get on the gun pointer's bad side: Talon Keir aims a revolver at Test Dummy! ((Your character is being targeted. They have 2 seconds to stop any click or move actions. While targeted, they may drag and drop items in or into the map, speak, and click on interface buttons. Clicking on the map objects (floors and walls are fine), their items (other than a weapon to de-target), or moving will result in being fired upon. The aggressor may also fire manually, so try not to get on their bad side. )) Fail to follow orders, expect to get shot, and lose all rights to complain in dsay or ahelps. Also, there's really little to no argument behind "give them stun revolvers so they don't shoot someone for taking their drink" because Detectives who do stupid things like that or shooting a restrained prisoner on code green in the brig get job banned. TL;DR: The Detective's Revolver is something to not be made fun of IC'ly, and should be more than enough for any situation. A player that forces you to fire in an uncontrolled environment, is a player that doesn't care about their IC life, and has no right to complain for its use.

[Denied] Kane DeWitt - Worn Leather Jacket/Outlands Jacket
