  1. Something that's always been in the back of my head is that nuclear operatives really have no option, but to go loud most of the times, and when they do go silent it's nothing greater than posing as assistants. If they wanted to do something more grand, such as posing as merchants or CC reps, then they're pretty much boned because Security and Command is immediately all like "Contact Centcomm now." This leads to my suggestion. Wouldn't it be grand if the nuclear operatives had a console on their shuttle in order to make their own updates from Central Command? If the nuclear operatives had something like this, then they would be able to pull off more grander stealth schemes such as this. They would have an easier time boarding into the shuttle, and sowing the seeds of chaos while (IC'ly) not being under the constant scope of Security staff. If nuclear operatives had the ability to make their own CC updates, then Command and Security staff should have no IC reason to immediately go "Get Central on the horn" because it would be considered meta knowledge, and then they'd have to wait until the "Central Reps" do something more questionable; such as cutting power lines, breaking into areas, etc.
  2. Okay, you're going to kill your boss because they didn't give you a lunch break for the shift. This is not proper escalation to the murder you carried out. Okay, let me stop you right here for a moment. Disrespect of staff carries a zero tolerance policy in Aurora. Calling a staffmember a "donkey" and generally anything that might be offensive is often dealt with quick. If you want to have an effective complaint, then I suggest talking in a way that does not insult staff. Why? Because we're volunteers. We don't /have/ to do anything. We do our job so that players can have a better RP experience, which moves me on to my next point: What you did was essentially ruin another player's experience through the act of ganking. The player you killed deemed that there was no escalation to his murder. http://gyazo.com/5ab924d95f8d40e6d95a36feb2c01054 Ganking is against our rules. In fact, let me post the rule that you broke right here. The matter you were originally contacted with was for breaking this rule. I don't know why it went on for so long since the issue was so black-and-white, but the point still stands that you broke the rules, and as such you should expect administration to contact you. Lets slow down there. What evidence do /you/ have that /Pumpking/, specifically, did nothing? Lets take a look from his point of view. You were insulting, looking down, and being all around condescending to a person that's doing his job voluntarily while being NOTHING but polite to you in the discussion. If anything, /you/ need a talking to about manners.
  3. Concisely: Yes.
  4. I don't feel like I need to post again. The post I responded to FFrances with covers both your points. Considering that the journalist is coming from another company, then NT would probably want to make sure they're safe and sound by providing one more armor to every station. Additionally, it's not like said journalist has ready access to it. They require permission from a relevant head of staff or a warden if no heads are available.
  5. THERE. CAN BE. ONLY. OOOOOOOOOOOONNNEEEEEE! *thunder clashing*
  6. I'm 100% sure that's a little mechanic that's going to be changed. So, no need to worry about it.
  7. I don't think a dull dagger would be very intimidating? I mean, at least from what the pic looks like.
  8. Nooooooo. The detective's hat has armor because it's something coded /long/ before Aurora was even a thing, if anything this is a function that must be removed in my opinion. Simply because an old item has something that doesn't make any sense, does not mean that your custom items should have things that don't make sense. Furthermore, the HoS coats are literally called armored coats. The rest I can vouch for because I believe you can make more char development through these items (because literally the only thing me and lots of other players know Imraj as is that asshole with temper problems), but I'm rather tentative about the Kangha. Wouldn't you just be able to get a comb from your custom loadouts, and use a handlabeler to call it "Kangha"? Also, if anything, the Kirpan should do damage so low that you wouldn't even /think/ about using it in combat; you'd be better off going in barehanded than using the Kirpan.
  9. If anything, we're led to assume that we require buy-ins for lore consideration at the least, not an approval. It also states that getting the required number of buy-ins is one of the steps, but doesn't specify whether it's required or not. Generally saying it's a step, implies that it's required unless it says otherwise. I'd like to suggest looking over the wording of that bit of the Lore Application Template thread if you claim that it's not required. I know this is rather late, but just saying.
  10. I made my own planet called Ferrax Prime for the Inn family, but I since then removed it when I found out that there's other planets I could use instead? Simply because it's already a part of your character, doesn't mean you can't retcon it away. I mean, it's not like we all share what planet we're from to every person ever, and even then it's often not that huge of a thing to the character; meaning that it's not very memorable. Just my two cents on the situation.
  11. A little drop down box when changing a person's ID that selects what department to put the person in. It'd be wonderful for when getting a unique job change. Say that IC'ly, a Surgeon is promoted to Head Surgeon. That way, you can actually mark the person down in Medical as the Head Surgeon on the Crew Manifest, instead of under Misc.
  12. According to our Head Developer, we don't make custom items of items that are readily available. If you want a flask, then you are free to select one from your custom loadout, and RP with it as if it was your "unique" flask.
  13. http://gyazo.com/0220d8349046ca83c7db92b0f13340cc Hell yes.

  16. Your post was not deleted. It was simply filed into the archive. http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=42
  17. Greetings, Person who banned you last night speaking, and I'm going to be brutally honest with you. I should've banned you on that very first occasion on the 19th for three days. You say you don't remember this incident, but I remember it clearly. You were walking down starboard primary as a geneticist that was professional in close combat, weapons expertise, and like four other fields that required doctorates. You found a laser rifle in the hall, and picked it up. You went into the maint. tunnel between science and escape where you were pushed down by a CSI that proceeded to flee. What did you do? You ran to the shuttle, and then initiated a firefight with said laser rifle where you turned the CSI and the Warden (saved for having a sec hardsuit) into Swiss cheese. EoR grief is usually punished with a three-day ban without notification, and that's what I should've done, but I felt /nice/, and decided to simply wind you in order to talk out the situation with you. Now, onto why I didn't ban you for three days last night. Last night, I should've straight up banned you for three days without a doubt. An admin even said he was surprised I didn't do it. Why should I have done it? Because you carried out serious disrespect of staff, where you questioned on whether I required a helmet or not by calling me retarded, and several other insults (such as calling me a "shitmin"). You then tried playing it off that, that is just you being "respectful". That is not how you respect someone. I don't go up to my father, the one person I do not respect more than anyone, and call him a "retard" when we're trying to have a polite conversation. Why? Because I /respect/ the man. Respect is "a positive feeling of esteem or deference for a person or other entity (such as a nation or a religion), and also specific actions and conduct representative of that esteem." I should've banned you for three days. In fact, I genuinely considered banning you for five days instead of three, but that's because I do not take shit from people that are not my friends, and that /especially/ includes strangers that were already on bad grounds with me for a previous incident. I then decided that, that would've been me going overboard with the situation. So you know what I did instead? I decided that I wanted to be /nice/ to you, despite you already resorting to throwing insults at me without a care. So what did I do after deciding that? I gave you a one day ban instead of the three day ban you deserved. Now, about your notes. Your notes have shown that so far you do not learn from your mistakes considering that you have three notes against you for OOC behavior, and have disrespected staff twice before. Once for talking back to an administrator telling you to do something in a rather hostile manner (OOC: Launch-Box: I'm sorry who made you able to tell me when I can stop talking about something?# The OOC channel has been globally disabled!#), and now the little incident from last night. If your notes showed differently, then I would've been inclined to believe that I could let you off with a slap on the wrists for the incident, but they didn't. Most players learn with a ban to not repeat behavior they were banned for. Your behavior in this case, being not learning from warnings or the consequences brought forth by your actions. So far with this thread, you are proving my thoughts on this improving your behavior to have been wrong, and is leading me to believe that your bans should be escalated in another situation. Honestly? This makes me rather sad because it is my belief that people can learn. All of this being said and done, wait it out since your appeal was denied, and reflect on /why/ I banned you, rather than arguing "If I hadn't said anything, then I wouldn't have been caught!" Because that is the excuse of a criminal.
  18. See, I thought someone would bring up the fact that "ICly, Aurora is a high-security research station". That begs the question on why is it high security? Something being high security, generally entails a potential threat of sorts, be it something from a workplace mishap to a potentially armed person. If there wasn't a chance of a hostile threat, then the station wouldn't be equipped with an armory containing various laser weaponry, an ion rifle, and riot gear of all things. The sad fact is that we're in space. Anything can happen in terms of danger because if you think downtown is bad, wait until you go into the vast unknown. Space can't exactly be patrolled and monitored with 100% efficiency at all times. I've always theorized that with space travel, space will literally become the Caribbean of the 1700s. With no efficient way to keep tabs on everything going on at all times, pirates will be commonplace, preying on transport ships, supply vessels, and the occasional station. This can only mean that it'd be better to be safe than sorry with NanoTrasen simply having to supply the station with one more piece of armor. Better to be safe than to have a dead reporter on your hands for something that could've been prevented with a small amount of resources because that reporter belongs to a news station, and you can be sure that the news station will /definitely/ report on the loss of said reporter. Then, concerning the issue about NT not wanting any press coverage. According to our wiki under the page NanoTrasen Corporate Finances, the Journalist job is a "Corporate Sanctioned Reporter/Journalist - Visiting reporters invited onboard NanoTransen facilities are paid a comparable hourly 'Publicity Fee', which is paid to a temporary NT account established in their name" ( http://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=NanoTrasen_Corporate_Finances#Tier_3 ). This means that they're authorized by NanoTrasen to do what they do, which is gather news from the station. Something like this could only be overturned by Central Command (as they are the ones authorizing said Journalist [from most surely a news station] to the Aurora). Meaning that either IA or a Head of Staff (in a situation like, for example, not wanting a reporter to report on a murderer on station, it would probably be best for it to be the HoS [as they are loyalty implanted and there to make sure the assets of the company are safe]) would have to contact Central Command to get directives from CC that the reporter in question is not allowed to gather information on said thing.
  19. So, it's not rare for press to be seen wearing armor in potentially dangerous situations (such as war zones for example). Press generally stay far from the action, but emergency situations tend to happen, and these sort of things have saved lives. http://www.hagorstore.com/js/magenthemes/mt_gero/js/productsscroller/timthumb/timthumb.php?src=http://www.hagorstore.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/3/4/349_-_ytp_7579.jpg&h=226%20&w=226 Considering all the potentially dangerous situations the station gets into during antag rounds, I wanted to suggest that a set of armor named Journalist's Armor (a regular security armor with the word "PRESS" labeled on the chest be spawned in either one of three locations: One of the three empty closets in the Armory (preferred location because either the Warden or the HoS can access it with ease), the Warden's locker or the HoS' locker. Said armor would be distributed to the Journalist in question, should they wish to cover a potentially dangerous situation so long as they agree to stay behind the Security detail at all times in order for them to do their job should the situation become hot, and the Journalist agrees to stay as far from the situation without interfering. Once the dangerous situation in question is over, then the Journalist is obligated to return the armor to the HoS or the Warden (preferably the Warden as they manage the equipment in the Security department). Important note: Librarian does /not/ equal Journalist. They are both entirely different jobs, and as such a Librarian probably wouldn't be allowed to come along. Besides, playing Librarian is pointless due to the lack of an SQL Database for books.
  20. My input on this probably doesn't matter by now, but: I posted the exact rule about IC in OOC when you and about three other people were raging in OOC with IC information. The approximately three other people stopped after I posted this rule and Wittly followed up with a second order to stop. You, on the other hand, found it right to continue with the rant even after a couple of warnings. I was one of the staff members that was backing up Wittly on applying this 24 hour ban, seeing as you refused to calm down, and proved to be disrespectful with the "coward" comment to someone that was being polite and respectful to you. All simply because he didn't respond fast enough due to being in the middle of discussing a course of action over msay.
  21. I actually like to draw in my free time! I also run campaigns were I make drawings of scripted events to give them an extra layer of depth. Those are just a few examples of drawings I have made digitally by editing splash arts from video games like League of Legends and Smite. As for a drawing I have made physically: (You have to right click>view image a few of the pictures.)
  22. Actually, here's the thing, it was actually a power sink. Big, black block that drains power from the station (for those who are not familiar with the item for X or Y reason). The power sink not only does that, but it also explodes /really/ violently after absorbing enough power from the grid. This part of the mechanic for the power sink is a /horrid/ idea in my opinion since these are always installed in maintenance tunnels around the station. What does this mean? It means that it can breach two departments, and possibly a hall or two, in one detonation. The power sink that blew up the medical bay in that round, literally /tore apart/ the surgery room, surgery prep, a quarter of that small atmospherics room in the corner of Atmosia, the area around it, one of the tanks outside of Atmosia, and breached Atmosia because it destroyed a couple of the windows in it. If we're already on the topic of treating bombs as atmos grief, I'd like to suggest removing this mechanic from the power sink because you not only get to drain power from the station, but you /also/ get to bomb the adjacent departments /and/ pretty much be a huge dick with that? Not to mention that some players don't even know that power sinks can explode, which can result in players having negative feelings towards the unknowing antagonist.
  23. Like Vittorio said, Jackboot is an exceptionally competent roleplayer. At times I'm shocked by how well he manages to delegate tasks between all of the medical personnel so that people aren't just standing around, bored. I've witnessed this every other day from his time in Exogenesis where he had a successful whitelist application, and never seemed to disappoint the usual medical staff there. Jackboot can take all my +1s, but I'm rather poor right now, so he can only have a single +1.
  24. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I've only seen one custom knife, and that was a dulled balisong used for shows and trick as a bartender. I might be wrong though, and you could be completely right!
  25. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!
