Isn't cohesive with lore. Jackboot has been clear that the Service Department is MEANT to make profit on board, that is why the Head of Personnel controls finances. Additionally, the Bar and Kitchen and Garden spawn with EFTPOS units. As HoP, I actually do make 'meal plan' cards and people can buy one, and then avoid paying multiple times when the eat or get drinks.

'Big company' doesn't always mean 'does everything'. They're a successful mining and research company. Why would they need/want to invest money in a culinary division? Even giants like Wal Mart frequently use in-store restaurants like McDonalds and Subway to cater to people's desire for restaurant foods. Not only that, but it also could explain the constantly changing bar sign between rounds - the restaurant is a space for franchises to (pay to) come in, serve food to employees of one of the most successful companies in Tau Ceti. Nanotrasen gets paid for allowing these companies the space and time for publicity, instead of having to spend money hiring chefs and bartenders. It's basically only profits for NT, and the restaurant franchise, and the crew, who potentially gets to try new and interesting cuisine all the time. I'm sure they'll sign some contract that places them under corporate regulations and such, but they might not be actually on NT's payroll. Another bonus of this - people could apply for custom item restaurant signs to personalize their restaurant. I know personally my chef has a full menu in the library with dish descriptions and she calls her work 'Katelynn's Counter' so I'd love to be able to get a sign for it and run it like her own business tbh.

We have independent JOURNALISTS, open access to visitors, and external merchants. Bad reasoning tbh.
-
Also not in support of this idea. If you want people to use the chef, remove more snack vending machines, make the Kitchen a non-NT food business and give them a cash register and a waitress. Restaurant RP is a lot cooler than 'grab cold food that's sat there for an hour' off a counter RP.

I have never seen a company where you just take your breaks whenever. Anytime I've worked or seen someone work - they have scheduled break times.

Character Feedback - Shane Castralo
Azande replied to Kryostro's topic in Character and Concept Feedback
Your character has more canonical charges than is reasonable for an unskilled worker. Shane has no value to make the company even consider overlooking his transgressions - he's a janitor/assistant - he has no higher education that applies to an on board position, nor is he influential, wealthy, etc etc. Basically: Your character is no longer believable. I've never had that good of an interaction with Shane aside from threatening him in the Captain's office if he didn't stop acting up. -
I've always treated it as my character's voice over a PA system, and I will continue to.

The Next Big Thing - The Official Write-up Boogaloo
Azande replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
Skull132 I've been stealthing the forums waiting for this thread to pop up. I like the idea a lot - but I have one thing. We will need a persistent log system (like, player-wise) so Captains can coordinate with one another over larger goals. Whether this is done in game via a 'Captain's Log' style thing that new Captains can go and check and then attempt to continue on from, or done on the forums - it needs to be done, otherwise between rounds we will have heads of staff completely attempting to redo what last round's Heads tried to do. Okay I'm going back to my hidey hole now bye. -
Hey everyone! Some of you may have noticed I've been largely absent from Aurora for the last month. I've made the decision to take some time away from the server and community in general for the perceivable future, but I hesitate to say this is me 'leaving' because of my history of coming back to this wonderful place that has been my spess home for four years now. The Aurora Tribune is being transferred gradually to Sh4rd, and the NTWA is being given to god knows who. If any of you want to be in contact with me, feel free to add me on discord ( XanderDox#2835 ) - I'm not in the general discord and I'll be leaving the IC-Relay soon, so adding me directly will be the only way to reach me, but I'll probably check the forums bi-weekly to monthly to keep up on any drama. Love you all

The Sol Alliance; Time to talk about this whole mess.
Azande replied to LordPwner's topic in Lore Questions
Senpai Jackboot Where were NanoTrasen and Hephaestus fairly large and powerful (compared to raiders, which they're specifically there to stop) security fleets? Did neither company see defending their Sol investments worth it? -
The Sol Alliance; Time to talk about this whole mess.
Azande replied to LordPwner's topic in Lore Questions
hard to believe such a large and powerful raider fleet could exist even remotely close to Sol space without the universe's resident superpowers KNOWING it is there. -
It's based on the fact that for a large period of my play time, you could still talk after being chloraled, you simply could not move.

It is not for surgery, it's a paralytic, not a sedative - you will feel all the pain of the operation still. If you're using it for surgery you're basically committing torture.
-
Both of these are already a thing as far as I know - it's just impossible to use the arm to pry open bolted doors that you break because they're bolted.

can we stop having boring lore-controlled NPCs and start having player-driven player-run determination of our server and canon events please. Sure, voting in a poll at the end of a week of events most of us miss is nice, but having an actual player win and work with lore team as an elected character is much cooler than lore running an NPC office holder.

we actually do have some adult books. So -1, the shelves are there to support the adult-subject matter books. Adult is not just sex, it's gore, heavy violence and 'adult themes' requiring maturity. It's also a great meme and you hate fun.
-
Fun fact. Dionae and Vaurcae aren't actually excused under CCIA Uniform regs and have been told to put clothes on before. May wish to get CCIA to reflect this.
-
Addendum - we are working on scheduling an interview, most likely this week.
-
Having the current verdict nullified so I can proceed with my interview is an acceptable solution. Synnono

Scheduling goes both ways. I cannot guarantee I am free for a weekend unless I also hear that you are free for a weekend otherwise I lose out on plans. All the times I have previously scheduled a CCIA interview, I have had a conversation with the CCIA that involved back and forth talk on when we were both free. These have exceeded past the seven day 'contact by' period, because the seven day period (at least when I was in CCIA) was essentially a time someone had to contact you - but not the time they needed to have a schedule hammered out, because we understand that people do have lives and some of our players do only dedicate a few hours total a week for playing on the Aurora. I understand your process, and this complaint isn't an attempt to ruin your trial or get you in trouble - I simply want the decision changed or at least to have the chance to provide my character's testimony.

BYOND Key: XanderDox Staff BYOND Key: ToasterRoboto Game ID: N/A Reason for complaint: Failure to conduct a proper CCIA investigation. Evidence/logs/etc: I received, as is standard, the following message: I responded with the following: I did not recieve any response, or any other attempt of contact from CCIA or the CCIA Supervisor on the weekend or past it to attempt to meet with me. However, I just received this in my inbox from ToasterRoboto : Additional remarks: The investigation went forward without my testimony, consultation or interview - despite me responding to their message and being completely ignored back - they made no further effort to contact me. Additionally, this was the first round I ever met the character Killinski as Klaus, and I did not get time to talk to anyone before having to resolve the issue between them and Marc, so to imply Klaus was friends with them is outright insulting and shows the CCIA could not be bothered to properly investigate this.
