[accepted]LanceLynxx's Head Whitelist
Azande replied to LanceLynxx's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
If you made Sukhoi an RD, you'd basically lose any ability to have their side business exist. So I'd advise against that. Most of your characters, including the Suhk, show a disregard for regulations and the like, but you also play them damn well. I'm neutral ont his as a result. -
Why don't you just make a Swift Two that is a shard sharing experiential memory so they know all the same people but do different jobs? Problem solved.

[Resolved] Staff Complaint - Mofo, Jackboot and Lore
Azande replied to Azande's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
The responses from both Jackboot and Mofo are satisfying to me, and do clarify why they felt the essay was a reasonable standard to be met, so I'm mostly satisfied with that. I still believe that a standardized and public application system should be used for deputies across the board, because while they answer to their species maintainer and the loremaster - in the end they write for the community and the players that play their species. In response to a piece of Jackboot's post - you are right that previous applications did have multi-page writings from the authors - but these pieces were almost always personal pet projects from the writers, that they did not have assigned to them as part of the application process. I myself have many, many pages of fictional writing and world building, but these are things I've done in my spare time and have had done for quite a while, not something I need to write up within the time frame of however many others are competing for the position. While I am satisfied with the responses given and understand the desire to give a higher barrier of entry for this position in hoping of improving the quality of the Lore Team in the future (this is what it is coming across as), I'd like this to be kept open for any more community responses. Thank you guys for responding! -
BYOND Key: XanderDox Staff BYOND Key: [mention]Mofo1995[/mention] , [mention]Senpai Jackboot[/mention] Game ID: N/A Reason for complaint: Unreasonable request of qualification for lore staff applications. Evidence/logs/etc: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10643#p94760 Additional remarks: Preface: I have no issue with Mofo1995 or Jackboot, I am making this to discuss this recent development in the stipend for joining as the tajaran deputy position. While I am not personally involved or affected - as I am disallowed from joining staff teams - I must express deep concern that our Lore Team has decided to employ what I see as a very high barrier of entry for a Tajaran deputy position, when the writer(s) themselves have never had to provide such for their senior positions. I write three-page papers regularly for my education (probably about 10 this year), and writing three pages in a single application timeframe instead of developing a solid lore idea over a longer period of time does *not* sound like something that is enjoyable except for perhaps the most extreme lore fans. Even now our lore team only slowly pumps out news articles, and news about NanoTrasen, the Syndicate, and Jargon - some of our major areas, are almost completely neglected, and when we get these articles - they are often filler fluff (looking at you Jargon news about sports and movies) and have no relevance to the game's playing. I don't think its fair to instate any such requirements until our current team members each can produce three pages of new lore in a short time frame. It's taken three years for our lore to develop as far as it has, and all we've had is Sol not liking Tau Ceti, and the PRA's ongoing war which hasn't really been seen on board (why no lore events of the station producing things for the PRA, NT is 'allied' with them no?) So the point of this complaint is simple: - Apply the attempted deputy requirements to all current and future lore positions (current writers will submit three page papers on their assigned topic to Jackboot) OR - Agrees to pump out more lore and involve the community in it more AND - Reduce this requirement for entry, it's kind of ridiculous for a volunteer writer.

[2 Dismissal] Prevent Cyborgs from becoming IPCs [Binned: 02/04/2018]
Azande replied to ben10083's topic in Rejected Policy
Androids and AIs have always had a buy out option. We do not have IPCs with MMIs, any character that went from Borg to IPC has retconned their cyborg existence. -
I assume [mention]Senpai Jackboot[/mention] has approved this?

We didn't implement demons so people need to visit the chaplain more often?

Dead bodies are not generally infectious unless the person themselves had a disease. This seems really dumb and silly. -1

[denied]Sleepy's Command Whitelist App
Azande replied to SleepyWolf's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
If I am not wrong, you were just unbanned for breaking various rules consistently. Now don't get me wrong - I love you and your characters Sleepy, but perhaps just like myself, it would be good to wait a month before reapplying for your Head whitelist. -
Our Head Administrator [mention]Sharp[/mention] asked for this thread to be created so they could gather community opinion. At the same time, he re-stated his authority to veto PRs that went against the overall public opinion and server direction. Which is why this thread was created.

Can confirm as salty ERTer that you can die and immediately join ERT if one is summoned in time.

[Accepted] Death’s Head Application
Azande replied to SRVODeath's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I applied at one month and I've been a head of staff for four years. Don't let your memes be dreams. +1, I know these characters and would be interested in giving this person a chance. -
CCIA are direct subordinates of all the Chiefs Officers of the Corporation, including the Chief Naval Director - you are incredibly within their chain of command when they are working within your branch of operation.
-
Have the request console on it's main screen, NOT the paperwork printing screen, click the request console with the paper you want to fax - it will then give you a full list of areas in which you can fax. A copy of your form will be printed at the selected request console.
-
What I'm seeing here is two issues: 1. A lack of ahelping bad ERT, this falls onto Command players. 2. A lack of support from CCIA in overruling bad ERT decisions unrelated to emergencies ( [mention]Synnono[/mention] ), I know in the past I have been overruled/stripped of nominal authority over my security team as Captain/HoS, and basically reduced to an HoP/Officer-Lite by ERT Leaders, I have faxed about these occurrences and I've always been met with 'ERT are in charge CCIA don't really have a say over them" I think if we give CCIA the ability to, and encourage them to provide orders to ERT on behalf of command if faxes are sent, it'd go a long way to ensure an ERT Leader doesn't keep the station hostage for an hour because they want to hunt the antag that hasn't done anything bad for the entire ERT's stay, and keeps the round in code red to handle this hunt.

[2 dismissal] Remove Extended from Secret Rotation [Binned: 19/03/2018]
Azande replied to BurgerBB's topic in Rejected Policy
I think the problem is that for like a year to two years, it was not HRP with Antagonists. Extended was extremely common in the past, and I feel like a lot of us miss the quality RP interactions we got back then. Relationships between characters were a lot more solid. -
It's a Phoron Research AND Mining station, actually
-
[mention]ben10083[/mention] What Lance said, request consoles send faxes a lot better than fax machines (just can't send bundles). These request consoles are /everywhere/ and so it's almost impossible you can't fax something to someone. Main fax machines are essentially only for direct communication with Central Command. -1

Feel like the mapping would need a big rehash though, move departments and create more shop friendly areas. I think most big companies would want a dock on the back of their shop (Thinking the robotic limb companies and maybe hydroponics) More conference rooms so several companies can keep conferences at the same time. A cafee mixed with the kitchen and the bar it's seperate thing, open areas for things and an open storefront for easier access. All above is of course just my wishes and not needed, movement of departments and such will need to happen in my opinion but other than that the map we have now can still work just as well as it works now. We have an entire surface level we could expand as well as a construction level to fill. This could be really easy if we just retcon the location of our facility, and make it closer to the center of the system.
-
We don't lose any lore. NanoTrasen operates hundreds of different types of facilities.

All of our records are pretty hideous, ugly and gross. They don't allow for formatting which sucks and makes everything look like one big boring blur, but most of all - Medical records are the most outdated and the consoles for them are just bad looking. I suggest that medical records be refactored with the security records UI, and that we try to find a better laptop sprite for them. Also if possible, enable BBCode in records.

So like a NanoTrasen Recreational and Public Relations Outreach Facility? NTRPROFSS Aurora.
