As the Captain who organized this security mission, it was a bad time all around. The kidnappers had the head of security, they were actively abusing/torturing him. When we got our chance to sneak a teleportation beacon in, I took it - shortly after, about 20-30 minutes, I was able to beam our sec team in after three flashbangs being sent in first, the area they beamed into was the medical briefing room, which had been modified with fortifications and made the entire staff wing of the sublevel a small fort. This was not a capture mission, this was a loyalist run mission to kill, their orders were to shoot to kill. However, despite this, I do not believe BSA (Noir) meant to immediately head-gib someone, the area is incredibly close-quarters based on what I saw after going to see after the situation was ended. and because the hostiles did have the head of security's weapons, opening fire as soon as they teleported in was the only option to not risk their own lives, and it was also their assigned task. I am someone that has regularly complained about BSA's behaviour, specifically about headgibbing with a shotgun, but in this circumstance, I do not believe that he meant to do it, and if he did - I do not believe it was unwarranted.

The link can be maintained at a distance. It is a wireless system Skull132 . The entire process of RnD making robotics advanced components for mechs is just RnD pressing the Sync Database button. Next, our addition of rigsuits that Security can use and Medical is actually supplied with has made mechs useless for the most part. Never will using resources to build a clunky, gygax, be better than arming up a hazard RIGsuit. Next point, weapons. Robotics only works with weapons that works on mechs, I don't see why this should change if they're in engineering? The mechs would be intended for security one way or another. Also, see point: Mechs don't matter now.

Robotics handles very little development or research work, at least in our universe/setting on board, they are not researchers, they only serve to maintain and produce cyborgs, use Integrated Electronics (scientists end up doing this more it seems though...) and occasionally help with the AI. Their work, focusing on production and maintenance of existing cybernetics like androids and prosthetics would fit much better under the Engineering Department, which focuses on upkeep and maintenance as well. Further argument for this is that the Research Director and Science Department have a decent amount of different fields to work within, there is RnD, now Chemical research (#sekritchemsboi), telescience, xenobotany, xenobiology, xenoarchaeology, anomaly and toxins. That is eight specific and different fields of work, each with their own mechanic, within one department. Engineering and the Chief Engineer however, have two, Atmospherics, and Engineer. Now you can argue Engineering has engine techs, maintenance techs, and electricians, but all of those titles encompass very similar work, and those alt titles only serve to LIMIT one's ability/expectation to conduct duties, it does not specify they are able to do anything more than a 'Station Engineer' could, and there are no specific special mechanics for any of the alt titles. Adding robotics would expand the Engineering department and give the CE more staff to work with (fun!). Now how do we accomplish this? The steps would require mapping, moving robotics over to Engineering, and fill the gap left by robotics in Science. My suggestion would be to move the awkwardly placed chemistry lab and misc testing room into the robotics area, including moving the weirdly placed autopsy table up there too. Then we could convert the god awful ugly misc lab and tiny tunnel hallway into maintenance. I don't know where we would place Robotics in Engineering, but I'm sure room can be found/made somewhere, the lobby is really big for no reason, and it could always go on the sublevel. If so inclined, we could also give roboticists special headsets (that already exist in code) that have engineering AND science access.

Mice have never been protected under Animal Abuse regulations, we have janitor's stocked with mouse traps and give mousetraps to the Chef for a reason. They have always and will always be pests, and CCIA have said this at least three times (maybe it needs to be a CCIA notice at this point smh) don't touch fucking disgusting rats with diseases eating wires in maint. This is common sense, and also applies to spiders and lizards and other bugs that occasionally spawn. Animal abuse essentially only covers station pets, which can only be designated as such by Station Command staff, apart from the already existing pets like Ian. The regulation does not need to be changed, it is a common-sense read.

I'd imagine the representative would get to sit in on the meeting and have to whisper to the suspect.

If you were arrested unjustly, check if there is an IAA, or call for one over the communications, as an IAA as long as you aren't a fucking idiot screaming 'SHITCURITY', I will acknowledge you and review your case, and most of the time the Head of Security or Captain or Central will listen to an IAA. If there is no IAA, make contact with the Head of Security, and then Captain if that fails. Both of these individuals have the authority to issue parole and early release.

[Resolved] Player complaint - XanderDox
Azande replied to Mcspizzy's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
That pretty much it, please stop being so hostile to people in Looc for playing the game, its really nasty. Like i said your fine IC. Okay, since you and a few others seem to share this opinion (despite me not being overtly aware of it being a problem) I will try harder not to engage in hostilities over LOOC when I die/lose. It is not fair to harass someone for making a decision they believed to be most optimal for their own continued fun. I heavily encourage you to ahelp if you see me do this so Modmins can address it and log it in my notes for tracking. -

I do not understand the goal of this complaint. Would you like to me to agree not to get mad at people in LOOC? Are you asking admins to apply a permanent ban? An LOOC permamute? Complaints are meant to have an overarching goal. -

You tried to arrest me for not having an ID and physically threw me out of the holodeck, I then tried to flee and you with your baton hit me with it multiple times, so you go turned to stone. You started the hostilities, I wanted to tell a story for the first half of the round and recruit wizards to fight a war against evil with me. But nope, not on your watch. You also if I remember correctly, were the first to complain in LOOC, when I turned you to stone. The Cadet got killed because they were trying to cuff me, and couldve very easily flashed me down, they admitted they were trying to cuff me in dsay. After I turned you all to stone and ran, I came back to see if you were unfrozen to negotiate, cue the AI locking me down and Hammerstein coming in with a shotgun. I know BSA as a powergamer and validhunter and knew he was going to immediately engage me, so when he came at me with a wielded shotgun, I was forced to defend myself. You removed the antag 40 minutes in because of an ID. Lots of other players wanted to hear my story, they expressed this ICly and OOCly in dsay. I will admit, I call people out on utter bullshit in LOOC. Is it usually in anger? Definitely. Usually it': 1-2 messages saying that was BS and then I close my client or fly around the station, I unlike others do not follow around and harass people, something I actively ahelp against. I won't address allegations of discord because I do not IC in OOC in discord ever. So I cannot complain about round happenings feasibly until round end, and bitching about a characters action is OK. Next, the UM incident was dumb, I got one stun shot out before trying to flee, I tried to evade him and instead of allowing me too for later RP or taking me hostage, he pushed me into a corner and beheaded me without a word, so in LOOC yes, I said it was utterbullshit. It is exactly why Sec dont like to give antags chances. This is all I have to say. -
Internal Affairs should be updated with more relevant information from CCIA on how to investigate, when to investigate, their powers during an investigation, how to do an interview, etc etc. whiterabit

[Resolved] Arrow 768 - Head of Personnel Adler

Having security with you is not an excuse. I had an ERT with me, wasn't an excuse. He's a heavily armed intruder, he could shoot down the wall if he wanted. -

The intruder was still very close by, and very easily could have ran back in. I was a full reinforced wallset away from a shooting as captain once dragging injured back from the scene and I got a verbal warning for it (and probably a note), so it only seems fair other people get punished for the same conduct. -
I also want to add that antags get a lot better gear than the average security officer. If you do not choose to find sunglasses to wear and end up getting flashed, then that's kind of your fault. If you don't wear armour and security shoot you down because you also have a weapon, that is your fault (Security risks less injury, if they are armoured and you are not). Antags genuinely need to plan their attacks, they can't just buy a weapon and rush at someone and expect to 'win'

I have faxed and asked about three times and had admins respond by giving me power Arrow768 , they have also done it many times in the past when there have been no engineers and no heads. This would simply be turning that admin action into an IC thing.

Mechanics can come at a later point, for now - I personally WANT so badly to not have to ahelp and beg for alien creatures to do xenobio shit with, I hate working with slimes and it's the reason I stopped xenobio'ing. If this is implemented, I suggest making them in 'cube' form so they can be safely transported between cargo and science.

I'm not going to defend the suggestion anymore since Garnascus has made it clear the Modmin team has made up their minds on the matter and Whiterabit has also shared CCIA's opinion. If you want to close it you may @prettymuchanyonewithforumperms . I do just want to note - the exact same concerns were shared when CCIA came into existence, sometimes things work out if you give them the chance, but I digress.

Considered this, felt 'ashamed' that it would be going around FT's back while he is away to gain ground in personal goals.

I've tried to engage with ForgottenTraveller multiple times about improvements for Heads/IAA, I've made forum suggestions about it, but each instance I've been met with a refusal to discuss, and a lack of interest in working towards a solution. I do not know where whiterabit stands on the issue, but I, and I'm sure many in the SCCN Group, would be happy to discuss with CCIA what can be done, and if they wished to come into our discord to discuss such things, they are absolutely welcome. But as of yet, all outreach has been denied.

1. CCIA only put in records demotions, suspensions and injunctions. They do not track any other punishment, warning, etcetera, this includes comments. 2. We cannot show individuals their records with CCIA comments, the consoles cannot print CCIA comments out, letting people glance at the console could let them see other's records. 3. Heads of Staff and IAA do not get told anything about a CCIA's investigation, even if they are the reporter, except the direct punishment if it's a suspension/demotion/injunction. We do not get communicated with about anything that was discussed. 4. It is against server rules to discuss incident reports in game, people with an IR against them cannot discuss it, people with an IR they've filed cannot discuss them, it is a punishable offence to discuss incident reports in any manner ICly. 5. CCIA do not take action in round, there is very little way to work with them, they have historically been resistant to involving Heads of Staff and IAA in their work. Faxes about issues are either given an immediate direct statement if the regulations are clear, otherwise the fax back is 'File an IR after the shift'. NOBODY wants to file an IR over someone being a mouthy little asshole, I do not have an hour of my life to dedicate to a single interview about a rude person.

Now, de-railing this suggestion to attack me or my statements (this suggestion is NOT mine, remember that) isn't going to be accepted anymore, I'm going to ignore further attempts at it. Let's refocus on the idea suggested/thought of by staff, which is Internal Affairs Agents being the system of notation. I personally heavily agree with this idea and it is what I myself originally wanted, not only does it give IAA more things to do, it also empowers them and will give crew more reason to treat them with a bit more respect than they are. As of now, the only tool for Internal Affairs or Station Command is incident reports, NOTHING will come of in-round faxes, even if they are formatted in the in game incident report, they will simply not be permanently addressed. What this results in is crew being able to cuss at/harass and ignore Internal Affairs with relatively no fear of repercussion. Why? Because not even IAA players want to sit down in an hour long interview with a CCIA JUST to discuss someone being an outright asshole. And so, crew have very little accoutnability as long as they remain below a certain threshold of shitty behaviour.

You could always just *ask* for what is said about you and I'm sure one of our 100s of whitelistees would tell you.

The Head of Staff forum exists for a reason, we already have something like this which was never touched and staff didn't mind way back when when asked about it. The head of staff forum is also easily moderatable which solves the moderation concerns that staff have. You do not inherently deserve access to what people say about you, just because someone is talking about you does not make it your business - this applies to many aspects of life. As of now, unwhitelisted security can make comments in your security notes anytime you are arrested, they can enter an extensive incident report and say whatever they want, and deleteing this without asking them is against rules, yet whitelisted Heads aren't given the same respect/trust. The reason that I say it will end up in the Head of Staff forum is heads of staff WANT this function, we discussed it at length in our discord, we voted on suggesting it, and there was no votes against in our group of about 38 active players at the time (45ish now).
