  1. I agree with this. Maglights are always few in number and usually grabbed by Cadets who don't talk or the CSI/Detective who sits in their Office. Another answer couls be to place the maglights in the Officer lockers so that they can't be grabbed by the other staff.
  2. Due to personal reasons, I am choosing to retract this application. My apologies for having wasted anyone's time with it.
  3. Was the secret chat in anyway related to him deciding to start a gun fight? If not, I don't see how just deciding to start a gun fight on an HRP server is okay for an antag. So he stated before hand that he wantwd to shoot us, so he tried to engage me and gave some dialogue. What matters is that it was out of nowhere and seemed out of place given that it was already on Crew Transfer and just happened. I don't entirely care that I died, rather I feel as though that incident was purely for the point of starting a shootout. That's my only remaining issue. As I said, I was unaware of a ban for headgibbing, so that is dealt with.
  4. How is the antag walking into the Armory during the Crew Transfer call, grabbing all the guns, tossing them into the hall and then trying to start a shootout something that is okay for an HRP server? What is the motive with it? Does there have to be one? Does this mean I can potentially go, as Officer Traitor, into the armory, arm up and announce that I am going to start shooting people- and as long as they respond and there is some level of dialogue it's okay? Maybe my understand is wrong, but I don't think that's the sort of thing that ought to take place. Your attitude and actions as antag, in my opinion, say otherwise. Your entire goal as Ninja has been on a number of occasions to cause mass havoc in the form of firefights- using firearms you yourself order from cargo. These are things I have taken to understand as an enjoyment of killing other players and removing them from the round- mainly due to headgibbing. This is only made worse by your being a Security member almost every time you are antag. If this is untrue, you do a fine job of hiding that fact. I don't deny that I have bias in that I have been a victim of your's a large number of times. In regards to the situation in question, Me as Warden, I could not- in any reasonable sense- leave the Brig. You had armed yourself, and aimed to pose a threat to the station. Had I left, you would have been able to leave the brig as well, and move about the station engaging other personnel. It was with this logic that I tried to hold my position until backup arrived. I must choose between possibly being shot then, or possibly being shot later with a few other people. Even so I also had to comprehend ICly why you had decided to start a Firefight. My Warden had no idea why you were doing what you were doing and was hesitant to react- hence his initial reaction to move the laser rifle farther away from you. There was also no build up to this, no pre-meditation. It was just you going into the armory, grabbing the guns, throwing them outside and calling for Security to fight you. I just so happened to be the only responder due to my role. But, when it comes down to it- I don't care whichever way this goes at this point, as I was not aware of him having served ban for the headgibbing. If his style of play is authorize, then I'll keep my gripes to myself.
  5. This would make sense. Only problem is macros. I only have so many easily thwack-able keys when I'm in a jam.
  6. I was the Warden, Robert Timmins. I had hoped you would have settled down with the request of sedatives, but you persisted to the point of breaking two of my cuffs. I was left with only the option of dislocating your legs. You even had the support of the Unathi Cadet on which you could have played to his sympathy and maybe gotten out. But instead you ghosted in the seat.
  7. I'd like to add that prior to this he had not been suspect to my knowledge. It seemed like this was on a whim.
  8. About a round prior to the current one. Game ID: bRs-c0lA. Nearing the end of the round he auto-magged his way into the Armory and grabbed all the guns and tossed all of them- except a shotgun and slugs- out into the hall in an attempt to start a shoot out. I was the only person present and found myself forced to respond with lethal force as he was playing an IPC and thus I lacked any means of disabling him non-lethally, as the Ion rifle was left in the armory. This was relatively tame in the ways of killing personnel because I alone responded to the incident. So he was able to shoot me in a brief engagement, and gladly the rest of the personnel were not present but were rather occupied with other Antags.
  9. BYOND Key: AmoryBlaine Game ID: Multiple Player Byond Key: Bath Salts Addict Staff involved: N/A Reason for complaint: This is a general complaint, not of any specific instance. Almost every single round where in he is an antagonist he will acquire a shotgun and slugs and do his best to kill. This is his primary object every single time. Whether he's doing this as the Detective Noir, as he usually is, or as his Ninja it will always be about trying to kill other players. It's abhorrent that the most active Detective stands at being a Antag 50% of the time he's present. The over-arching gimmick means little as long as he is given the opportunity to blow away other player. But more so, not only does he attempt to kill other players but he is quite smug about the fact that he aims to headgib them as well. I don't think this kind of behavior ought to be allowed as it's wholly directed at ruining other people's rounds for his own enjoyment. In fact I am now in favour of the removal of slugs purely because I am well aware of the fact that BSA uses them so often to headgib other players. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? It was suggested that I write a complaint. Approximate Date/Time: Multiple dates, multiples rounds.
  10. I do need to monitor myself for this- sorta. I have an issue of press F along with D when trying to move and that changes my intent to harm usually. This is common in combat for me. But even so that's more or less one or two harm batons to the chest. I can't recall any face beating scenarios, though.
  11. I agree wih Xander. You are clearly only interested in the aesthetic of the uniform rather than expanding on the character. He's never even hinted towards having prior served in the Navy- but even so, what was his occupation then? Was he a surgeon? A cook? You need to ground the character. On another note, his flavour text gives him an illustrious title akin to what I assume is done to members in the Nation of Islam. I don't get that. Flavour text is for describing the physical appearance of the character.
  12. I think I ought to make this so I can METAGRUDGE all of you who berate my character. But seriously, I'd appreciate criticism so I can improve him.
  13. I like the little details. Like, Khaled going on breaks and staying in a specific part of the shift during these breaks. I like that sort of side stuff that most people don't take note of, but are employed in the character because they're 3D and exist outside of Player to Player interactions.
  14. The problem is him, the Player. I had a round with him as Ninja and after being caught he did his best to annoy Security- not escape but act like a thorn in our side, the greytide kind. During his entire holding he refused to actually interact with Security from an RP standpoint. Asked why he was here and just complained about how we had failed to abide by Corporate law in his arrest (Which is fine, really, but he's one of two Antags, the other being Lich Wizard, and doesn't want to RP. Although, it can be noted after he attempted to escape he said he was willing to "assist" us for a price.) He was put into Communal, tried to escape, was put into Solitary, emagged the door, stunned the HoS with toxins, ran straight to the Armory where I was and baton'd him, and stuck him back in the secondary cell. At this point he had fallen back on to just smacking the door with his chair and once he broke that he started trying to fracture his own skull. This is where my issue is. Who tries to crush their own skull with their fist or slice their head open with a piece of glass? This was the second time he had done self-harm in order to force me to waste time treating him. I had to dislocate his legs- which I hate doing because imo it's excessive force, but had no choice as he made it clear he just wanted to be an annoyance for the rest of the round, went to Medical and requested sedatives that I used to threaten him into better behavior. And of course since he couldn't crush his own head anymore he logged off anyways. There has also been a Wizard round where he was Joe Vick, Visitor. The Wizard was being escorted to Medical and he came up and said something stupid. The wizard promptly grabbed him and tossed him out into the hall. Seeing as none of us wanted to fuck over any RP that was going to happen we allowed it. So he comes charging back in and starts trying to table the wizard and then toss him out but we flash him and eject him from the Lobby again. He then chose to try and table me for having flashed him. The wizard threw him in the hall where I baton'd him and the wizard accidentally slashed his face. When moved to Processing for battery he spoke of how shit of an Officer I was and I asked him how he could be so ignorant for someone working in ISD as to verbally harass someone and then attack an Officer. I can't remember if he had swapped to LOOC to berate me or not, so I won't claim he did. But long story short, even when he's not playing Joe Vick he tries to piss people off and when he is, he seems to think he's allowed to play as an annoying asshole and NOT suffer repercussions ICly.
  15. Where was this, and what were the expectations of you during your time on another team? Why did you leave? RESPONSE: I would rather keep this information for the most part between myself and the administration. Those of you who know, know- the rest have no need to. What do you see as correct enforcement of heavy roleplaying? How much should a staff member directly involve themselves with the roleplay of a player, given that experience and writing ability can vary wildy from person to person? Can you describe a time in which you felt that the staff was too relaxed with someone on this point, and what the resolution to that time was? RESPONSE: For the most part, I agree that each issue has it's variables and that one cannot handle these in a quick fashion- I applaud the current staff's ability to handle this, as they have never failed me and I think with the complexity of the ahelps they receive, seeing as this is HRP, it makes it much more difficult than what I am used to and that's something commendable. However, my issues concerning staff response or relaxed handling has always been with the matter of players who are not RPing or are not attempting to immerse the character they play into the game and instead attempting to cause issues that disrupt the RP of other players. A specific incident took place during a Cult round where the Cultist had been captured and was attempting to RP with the Warden and myself, this included a hostage taking that I fucked up by cutting short and we had to reset, but then I had to cut short again because we were interrupted by two repeat offender greytiders who had moved up to assault and destruction of property from simple hooliganism. They smashed apart the processing area, tried to kill me as I left Security, tried to kill themselves in their cells and then were confined to Solitary after being treated where they finally crushed their own skulls at which point Medical took them out and I never saw them again. This was over the course of ten minutes or so, and was ahelped a number of times as it progressed worse and worse. This had an impact on the RP taking place as I was forced to handle these two to the best of my ability while having to ignore the actually round-relevant situation taking place with the Warden. Had I been present and informed, the two would have been slept at the point of smashing up Processing, informed that this is not LRP where trying to smash your way out of the brig for a two minute sentence is okay, unslept, watched for what time I was given before the next ahelp, and if they continued as they had with the smashing of their own heads, I would have banned them rather than preoccupy Security players with the matter. I'm not sure on our system of ban times, so I'll just say that they would be receiving the minimum ban along with directions to the wiki and forum. Now, maybe this is all misinformed on my part, I am just a player, and I lack the ability to see exactly what is going on at their end. In fact, this may be all because they were antags, or that the staff was overwhelmed or that they were misinterpreting the situation or any number of reasons that I could not know. But, no matter the cause, it's something I hope to prevent by myself becoming a moderator. As a player, you already have the tools to address both of your stated issues from the ground up. As a mod, you will (generally) still be expected to follow the same processes as other players when they are applicable. How do you view the position as giving you more of an ability to accomplish your goals? RESPONSE: I think I answered this in the last question to a degree. I see the position as carrying authority, and it has the ability to carry out the punishment. I may come off as sounding like a sociopathic maniac who wants to ban those he despises, but I am very much so in favour of communicating with the players. From my experience, I have dealt out probably tens of dozens of bans, but at the same time I have taught a great deal of players where they went wrong, how to prevent it, sorted out other issues with rules miscommunication and then sent them on their way better than before. We also have to remember where my past experience was- on CM, so the crowd is a lot different. I don't want to pretend I am the second coming of Christ. I will adapt to this environment and do my best in order to bring myself better in line with the server culture. I hope this answered your questions, I ramble a lot, as you know, and I tend to scatter my thoughts when I try to expand on stuff.
  16. Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: AmoryBlaine Character Name(s): Daniel Carmichael, Ronald Lartin AI Name(s):N/A Preferred means of contact: Discord, slack if we use it. Email is fine as well. Age: 17 Timezone: EST When are you on Aurora?: 3:00PM/8:00PM on weekdays, 09:00AM/11:00PM on weekends. I jump on and off within these time frames but usually partake in three or four rounds a day. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Started in April 2016. About a year and a half or so. How long have you played on Aurora: Largely since May or July. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I mainly do Security work but have a basic understanding of every Department and their respective mechanics within reason of someone who mains Cargo and Sec. The exception of this being RnD of which I have zero experience. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Yes, about six or seven months of Moderator experience. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: No, I have not been banned from Aurora. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I play SS13 because I like a lot of the people I've met here, and it offers a level of fun I can't really seem to get anywhere else. The RP appeals to me, and that's why I choose Aurora over any other server. Why do you play on Aurora?: The RP mainly, the Blue Sec, the friends I have here now and the general feel of things appeals to me. I do think that things are too relaxed though from an enforcement perspective and this allows for LRP behavior and greytide to hide amongst the population long enough to cause issues with the HRP'ers and regulars. What do moderators do?: Moderators are tasked with enforcing the abidance of rules and removing of griefers. The main priority of Moderators is maintaining order in accordance of the rules as well as acting as a middle-man between the Adimistration and the Playerbase. I think that they ought to also operate as mentors, so I hope I can do that as well. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: It means to uphold the standards of the server as per the written rules, strike without mercy enforce the standard within reason and be a good community member. Activity and communication is a key part of being a good member of staff. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I appreciate the existence of Aurora as it's the only server I can stomach in terms of RP and Action balance. There's work to be done on it, and I feel as though I can help in this respect. I want to give back to the community as well as hopefully help make Aurora better and enforce the RP. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I have six or seven months of Moderator experience, I try my best to assist most everyone and explain my actions when they are called into question. I can multitask pretty well. I do have trouble log digging though, so I'd rather focus on Server-side work if I get trial'd. I like to think I handle people well though, this is of course subjective and I'll let my peers answer for that one. I also find that I have a drive to serve in any capacity, and take great joy from working for the benefit of people. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Depending on the context. When I am insulted by a random player it does not phase me, if I am insulted or spoken poorly of by someone I consider to be on good terms with or another regular server player I will seek means to clear this up usually via a private conversation- to a fault sometimes, I guess. The only stress and anger I have from Aurora currently is caused by two issues; Greytiders, and LRP- Both of which I hope this position will allow me to deal with accordingly and within the confines of the rules and my authority. I hate having to ahelp and wait for action that never comes or being told to write player complaints on issues that end up boiling over into bannable offenses soon after being given this advice. Anger is something I know well, but I think for the most part it is constructive- to the point that I think my articulation becomes better during bouts. Overall I think I can handle myself, and I have outlets for stress and anger so it should not interfer with my duties as a Moderator. Anything Else You Want to Add: Some of my answers may be lacking, but that's only because I don't really have much to say on it. I'm not a deep thinker or very good at explaining my abstract love for things, all I know is I do enjoy this place and I want to help maintain it.
  17. In my opinion 2 months isn't enough experience. Give it a few more and I'll support it.
  18. Aside from his get-up as Quartermaster I got zero problems with him. Great at QM, Warden. Really worthy of Head whitelist, very dedicated to running their department efficiently and being a great Warden. +1 EDIT: He made a very dumb contract dealing with PunPun and I find it to be unbecoming of someone who wants to move up to a Heavy Roleplay centered whitelist. While the contract may have been approved, it's still very lowly for an HRP server in my opinion and I see at as a reason enough for me to change my +1 to nothing. So I'm neutral now.
  19. Sharp's just an all-around good RP'er, good player, and good staff member. All my experiences with his characters have been fluid and made sense for the respective characters. He operates entirely within the confines of each characters abilities and knowledge and yet never ceases to provide an amazing experience for the players/characters he commands, assists or just talks to. I think he'd do well in expanding into the race of Tree-mans. I don't know much about the lore or if his character makes sense based on that, but I can vouch for his ability to RP. +1
  20. Spent a round under them as Interim Head of Security. Very literally flawless aside from having to wrangle some horses and go afk for THREE MINUTES. True Cowboy. Round went splendid and we only died because we got our faces filled with shotgun shell without any prior warning or RP. So overall really good experience with them as HoS, they communicated well, and constantly kept everyone in the know, knew what they were doing. Just all around good. +1
  21. Reporting Personnel: Daniel Carmichael Rank of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer Game ID: bQT-c7xx Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - Daniel Carmichael, Security Officer (Victim) (AmoryBlaine) - Ka'Akaix'Kzon Zo'ra, Medical Doctor (Offender) (Conspiir) - Ka'Akaix'Zed Zo'ra, Unknown (Witness) (MFalco) - Eric Shaner, Medical Doctor (Witness) (Eternal Twilight) - Samantha Snyder, Assistant (Offender) (Neschief) - Noir, Detective (Witness) (BathSaltsAddict) Time of Incident: 01:00 Station Time Real time: ~10pm GMT/11/10/2017 Location of Incident: Departures Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury [x]Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct [x]Other: Killed a mouse, of which was my property. Overview of the Incident: (General description of the incident, to include as much detail as is deemed necessary) Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: N/A While on duty, I had a small mouse which I had kept with me through out the entirety of my shift, up until the point of it's death. While standing guard inside the Departures area, this mouse had gotten free only for a moment and as I attempted to pick it back up Doctor Kzon took it from the ground and crushed it at which I reacted almost immediately to take the mouse back from them however it was too late as it was killed. I made the untimely decision to strike the Doctor multiple times for which I was detained- and rightfully so. Before my detainment, however, Assistant Samantha Snyder had picked up the corpse of my pet and thrown it at me in order to mock me. They then ran about the departures area where I did- again- made the premature decision to strike them multiple times with my fists. It was at this point when Detective Noir pulled me off the assistant and had me handcuffed. I regret my actions wholeheartedly and understand whatever punishment is dealt towards me. I wish, however, to file in against the Doctor for the initial action that provoked me, as well as the secondary provocation by the assistant. I regarded that mouse as both my private property and a pet to which I had an emotional attachment. Actions taken: My detainment along with the detainment of Samantha Snyder for a string of hooliganistic acts that include their actions as described. Additional notes: N/A
  22. I'm a big fan of Moon's characters, and I think that they entirely have the ability to take the position of Director. They are good with RP, and I cannot recall any instances of their presence in the brig. I would wholly like to see Moon play as a Director of RnD.
  23. I've only played one round with Cruz, and they were okay. I would say that you need more time before applying for the position of Head. I've been a Security Officer for over a year now as a few different Characters, and I don't see myself as ready for the position either. I think that it would be good to focus on getting better at organization, efficiency and reaction time- and reaction itself- to situations. I can recall from the round I had with you, Cruz did not act at all past the point of calling out the location of an intruder- which was already established. I know you did not have an suit, but the Security team was down to yourself and two cadets on patrol with the wounded Officer and the Warden as your most dire assistance. You should have gone to get it. You also left your taser in favour of more munitions. I understand that the situation prior was mainly hostile, but your No.1 concern is non-lethal detainment as long as it means it isn't going to cost the company a lot to cover financially by the end. So really, I think if you were to spend a couple more months getting better at the occupation you might have a better chance at passing this along. Neutral. Neither +1 or -1
  24. As a Security Officer who serves under Opamator when he's Warden a lot, I would say he is extremely good at efficient distribution of equipment and keeping his brig in order. They are exactly what Security needs more of at every level of at every level of the department. He's definately- in my humble opinion- a good candidate for Head.
