  1. Security needs a slap and get reminded that the Captain is the highest authority on the station. And they also need to understand the IA have oversight on their performance. We don't need a lawyer, we just need to hammer that idea into some of the thicker skulls in Security
  2. The Captain is the highest authority in the station. He may not make arrests, give sentences unless needed or directly order Security. But he makes the executive decision, and if he feels one of his crew then he may make the decision to overrule that sentence if they deem the situation was handled poorly or against SoP. Obviously there are better ways to go about it but sadly security doesn't run the station. They do not have the freedom to be above policy themselves. The Captain's purpose on the station is to be the highest authority and decisions made by said captain will make them the only ones liable if shit goes tits up. I mean, what do you think the Captain is there for? In truth he's more of the Commander on the station. If you have issues with his conduct that is within the legal bounds, you get the appropriate people involved. Not commence a shitcurity coup because you not like?
  3. If it's anything, Britain had a coalition between conservatives and liberals. So this seems workable to me, in the sense of political unrest anyway.
  4. I was tempted to do that, but I've noticed various threads get blotted out by the latest big issue or... argument. With that, I felt having a board separated from the general discussions would give a... productive environment exclusively for lore related discussions and hopefully bolster accessibility too. Originally, I would have said the Lore Questions board was a good place for this but since the policy has changed, I feel that a Discussion board would be the next step.
  5. So, baring the flag with the reds that represents the blood of angry men and the blues to represent the changing of the tides... or however it goes.. let's scrap that. I think we should also have a Lore Discussion board where people can talk freely about lore based things with each other, there won't need to be definite answers but speculations or perhaps things that are missing that people would like to inject their ideas into. Now before I get bombarded with posts that contain bold lettering and other font changing features for reasons I care little for. I know we have a lore applications board and a lore questions board. But there... isn't room for discussion, when I wrote Little Adhomai all I had was a concept, a rough idea that I wasn't too sure on where to go with it. So I opened it to discussion, whether it were on the thread or during OOC after people had read it. You know, asking what else they would like to see in Little Adhomai and such. But that is no longer the case, which to me is kind of shitty. And with the Lore Questions, a lot of good discussions get primmed away and even with certain... controversial questions get real, factual and mature answers snipped away as well. So I propose a Lore Discussions board where people who enjoy reading the lore can... freely talk about it without the purple cloak looming in the sky above them. Not to shit on the Lore Team, they do a lot of good things, but I do feel some of them are pushing the community out in the process of making everything, I don't know, clean and organized? Not sure, and if this proposal gets slapped out of my hands by the masses or relevant parties in the staffing team, then so be it.
  6. A lot of the things I see traitors do.... have no real objective to them. I've seen people bomb the station, with no real reason or they kidnap people, but never really have an end to why they're attempting to kidnap said person. Even other antags don't do anything... to benefit their characters at all, I mean you get a few but then you mainly get what Frances stated. I feel the actual issue is the fact they are Objectiveless Antags, sure it gives them the freedom to decide what they will do but at the same time, they don't have an objective or end game to justify why they blew up custodial and beat a nurse halfway to death. They just end doing the same old gimmicks as the last tator and it's very lackluster for the victim. If I were to make a recommendation or give some advice to whomever it may concern. If you get selected for traitor, do something that will actually involve some benefit to your character, not some suicidal urge to cause mayhem. It's not about winning, it's about creating an organic antag from your character, make them seem living and even make people question whether you truly are bad given whatever circumstances you're in. There's so much more you can do opposed from the usual tator cliches.
  7. That's why self harm is against NT regulations. They don't want be paying for your medical treatment.
  8. Damn, I'll stick with the force gloves
  9. Damn it, it's this year's elections all over again.
  10. I suppose light heartedness is out of the equation. I would think it'd be good to have some sort of chance for it to backfire, it isn't the most well made weapon safety wise.
  11. Does a priest need to validate his faith in god? Then I don't need to validate my faith in Sues ability to make am IPC that I don't find awful.
  12. The man lived a good long life with a reputable career and fond memories. So I thought I'd see what you appreciated the most from the man of horror
  13. LOGIN>Omen PASSWORD>*********************** ACCESS LEVEL>Encrypted. NET ACCESS GRANTED WELCOME
  14. Won't let me vote, weird
  15. I personally want to restore the balance and remove the Engineer Militia mentality.
  16. I'm probably repeating the same point as everyone else. But it's to stop random chucklefucks joining a round and choosing a role that has access to weapons or something just as destructive. The heads are what the departments depend on at times, and we don't need a bald illiterate dismantling the singularity containment field. Besides the heads role is quite demanding, because you're actually expected to do shit opposed to other servers where you have as much responsibility as a monkey shitting in his play pen. With the AI and Borgs? They can get carded/remotely shut down and are much more easier to deal with.
  17. I... Kind of live in the Salisbury area which is only a stones throw from Salisbury plain. But for me, a lot of my work involves being outside weirdly enough. But occasionally I go outside and split some wood with my trusty hatchet.
  18. Is this still a thing? I suppose we could do conscript station where everyone and their mother keeps a 45. in their ass cheeks so they can fight off all them crackers. But let me tell you a tale about xenomorphs, an unknown enemy that in reality is a terrifying specimen. The station had a couple of xenos or so picking people off. The Captain decided to authorise weapons to civilians and ordered gank 64 upon the alien foes. Suddenly no one gave a shit about an unknown horde of monsters and went valid hunting. The round was more or less over at that point. The horror of such a creature ignored and we ended up having a bunch of randoms. My point? Sure you can do what it takes to win, but what's an empty victory compared to a story of desperation. The idea of the crew attempting to survive on the asteroids is much more appealing than stomping out the threat then sitting with a thumb up your ass wondering what to do now, seeing as the rounds fulcrum got ganked. Also, I wouldn't say the station is overly close to the asteroid because that seems like an overly stupid idea and not to mention nukes kind of suck in space. And my final point, attempting to change how someone else's character should react is shitty and if one was to complain how one of my characters should fit to their ideals, I wouldn't be all that friendly in my response.
  19. Self insertion is somewhat unhealthy. It can lead to being stressed and having emotional attachments to things you shouldn't overly care about. That's why some people get upset when they die or have their character insulted. This probably is why some issues arise in the forums but who knows. I think you can embody your character while keeping yourself ultimately detached from them.
  20. I suppose I am being a bit too hasty. I'll see how my opinions on it change.
  21. It's mainly in reference to a recent thread that lead to one individual taking a lot of flak for creating it and another feeling singled out because of it. It's not so much about round types, but to how people react to situations and how separate the keep.their Ockies from their Ickies. Because that situation left both parties in a shitty mood undoubtedly. And... I don't want people feeling like that. I want them to find a compromise and take a deep breath. Perhaps that's arrogant of me, I don't know.
  22. I dislike it because it's not constructive and doesn't benefit if the topic turns sour, perhaps it also doesn't... Add to the problem either but I felt like I would express my current disdain with it even if it is an incredibly unpopular opinion. But to me, it may validate someone's argument or opinion but it doesn't explain why, which to me is lack luster and can, at times, be used in pettiness. But like I said, thought I'd make my stance on it.
  23. With how discussions go in this community. I feel the 'like' button is an awful addition that only adds to the whole mean girls mentality. You know what I mean, the Queen Bee makes a sick burn and her bitches peer over her shoulder to say 'Yeeaaaah suck it bitch!' We already have some threads devolve into senseless bickering with no real productive discussions going on, we don't need things like: Perhaps I'm being unreasonable, but it's kind of the... vibe I get from it when I stupidly enter heated threads to see why they've been so active.
  24. Behold this pile of wood lathered in oil and smothered in gasoline as I potentially create a thread that will cause some sort of flame war. Probably not. But to my point at hand because, to me it's needed. And that is how different people roleplay and what their primary focus is when creating a character or... story if you will. Some of us have a story laid out, an indepth history and plan for their characters with the primary goal of creating stories with dialogue and the like. This doesn't always mesh well when it comes to things that involve life and death, usually leaving those who play this way to find themselves sold short. Then you have those who seek fun in the round, what keeps the round going and how that's an enjoyable experience as the player is. They are very mechanics focused aswell paying attention to other players more so than the player's characters. Which isn't a bad thing either, it's a game of course but then it presents the issue of finding yourself irate because of another player's actions. Lastly, to my knowledge anyway, is those who.... place themselves in the character, play how the character would act in any given situation. Be it a choice between life or death, the lottery or perhaps how they would approach an antag. Which is also good and bad, what might be good for your character might not always be the most enjoyable experience for the round when it comes to other players. People mesh these three playstyles I've made on the spot, and some stick dead fast to any given one. And that's fine, people choose how they play and their characters how they want to play them. Because of that, we shouldn't enforce our own ideologies of roleplay or attempt to change other peoples characters to fit a playstyle we think is correct. Why? It's shitty to do so and shittier to bitch about it too. Sometimes it's better to be above your grievances, and accept everyone's differences, otherwise being involved in a community that involves people in various countries won't be enjoyable for you. And people will surely grow tired of your potentially hostile presence. An ultimately pointless thread but perhaps it will serve as some sort of food for thought, something to reflect upon when you're frustrated with how a round went.
  25. Still shitty for Crescentise to throw Xander under the bus after he gave his support for her app. Would have been better not to mention names at all.
