Give Vaurca the ability to climb up and down walls/Z levels
Jakers457 replied to SleepyWolf's topic in Completed Projects
I suppose that's fair. Perhaps the more equipment they carry the more time it takes to climb? Unless we can't to consider them super strong -
I'm wondering if the anaesthesia has anything to do with the character gasping or not breathing properly. I've noticed the issue when dealing organ damage though I will need to test this further. If it is the case however, you can maybe, if time was free, you could implement something from actual surgery which use endotracheal tubes and laryngeal mask airways. They could function like a mask but must be applied by someone else for safety, and if removed aggressively could cause damage. Not a suggestion thread, but seeing as it's relevant to your issue, eh.

To be honest, I feel there's a lot of areas Mining never touches or makes a dent so I'd say it wouldn't affect their work too much. Plus, if they go through with another suggestion in regards to mining they'll be less likely to get the more powerful equipment so early into the round.

Give Vaurca the ability to climb up and down walls/Z levels

I don't really play Vaurca, but aren't they one of the top picks for validhunters in terms of species? And wouldn't giving them an ability to wall crawl amplify this? -
Research could still be a thing. It just, in my opinion, allows for more freedom and some exploration into the mercantile side of things. The Corporate theme allows for a situation where some stuff gets stomped on 'because it doesn't make sense' while at the same time, plenty of people treat the station like a playground. At least having it has a hub where people stop off at to recharge allows for a broader range of possibilities while allowing those who are so inclined, to chill out at the bar or other service establishments. We can have the station owned by either Biesel, a congregation of businesses or still be heavily sponsored/owned by everyone's lukewarm NT company.

The store needs more foot traffic opposed to being in a relatively isolated area which no one really hangs around in. Plus, having the store near cargo allows for stock to be moved easier.

I thought this suggestion would be the most reasonable, due to the fact all it takes is a level of refurbishment opposed to ripping it out from the roots and starting over.

The idea of Aurora being a Research one is tenuous at best, most of the work in Science is to produce technology to sell or use, either from RnD or Robotics and really don't break any ground as most characters already know what tech they are researching their way to. One of the more profitable activities I've seen from station is the exports of platinum and phoron by Supply while everything else is pretty much infrastructure to keep the station going. So I was wondering if we should explore the more mercantile side of space business, with the Merchant vessel docking and the skeleton of what a store on station could be like, we could move to having the main level being more of a Hub for people to stop off at. It's not an overly fleshed out idea and at the time of posting, it's half two in the morning, so I'll let you guys ignore/discuss/argue the suggestion and check back in after some sleep.

Bulk retail goods for the store.

One of the biggest issues I find with antags is different people demanding different amounts of roleplay before they die, or enough time to valid you while you're typing. Despite the lack of objectives, I find Aurora's way of antagging to be incredibly restrictive. I'm always worried about how loud or aggressive I go as an antag because I don't want to run into the issue of killing someone who'll get upset and ahelp me for not giving a b-movie style monologue so they might have a chance to whip out a gun and rub their johnnies over a valid kill. I agree with roleplaying and creating a story, but there's a different between your character acting in accordance to the situation and basically saying Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru.

So I went back and changed a couple of things. Their order belongs to the Stok, which is their common ancestor or primate version, if you will. From there I created a family in which the Unathi branched off into and then named the species after what they're called in full. I think I might tweak the order, perhaps make a group that includes both Stock and Unathi, perhaps an Unathi term. We will see.

BYOND Key:Jakers457 Character name: Miko Du'razhu Item name: 'A smart miner, has an alibi.' Why is your character carrying said item to work? To make sure mining declare their yields, and nothing is more eyecatching than pretty colours Item function(s):Works like a poster Item description: 'A colourful poster depicting a strong miner writing out a declaration form with a smile.' Item appearance: A poster of a miner filling out forms, something to that capacity anyway. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? It'll add more flavour to the mining department's decor as well as add to that 'motivational' poster gimmick you always find in the most crushing of work places. Additional comments: None as of yet.

[Accepted] Proxy - Nanotoxin unban appeal
Jakers457 replied to Thundy's topic in Unban Requests Archive
I can't say I've had many pleasant interactions with the guy back when I was last a part of this community. If I recall, it seemed like he would post on my threads for the sole purpose of derailing it. But in spite of this, I don't being banned for a shitpost via a shitpost isn't probably the fairest of situations, especially a permanent one. A permanent ban should be about someone's overall conduct opposed, which I am unsure if it is the reason for the ban. -

One of the few people you can reliably roleplay with, if you're playing antag. +! for the potential of a solid tajaran character to help improve the image -
[Resolved] Alberyk Metagame Ruling
Jakers457 replied to SodaPopBob's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Fake walls tend to be common knowledge amongst the crew and I believe Security were told to hunt for a suspect in that area of the tunnels. So in my mind, if they were in the knowledge that someone was doing some shady stuff in that area and found a room which was tampered with, they would have the motive for checking that room's perimeter for an entrance extensively. From how you described the scene, they were walking up and down the perimeter, checking the doors and such. If they knew you had someone, if they already experienced other hostiles that round and if they knew they were running out of time to save that bartender after what they experienced. They would have exhausted every immediate option, which involves checking the secret door. Given the situation, why they were there and what happened during the round prior to this incident as well being able move a wall panel for access being known by the crew, whether they know how to construct one themselves or not. I don't see any meta happening, perhaps if they had no information to work from and immediately b-lined for the secret door, then perhaps it would be. But from what I can see, it was a major slip up on the antag's part that only tightened the noose around their neck. That's my two cents on whether the situation was classed as a metagame infraction -
QM should be able to use it on dead miners, so they can be mindless flesh golems that still dig on after death.
