Character Complaint - Kato Zane/K0NFL1QT
Resilynn replied to tbear13's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Alright, I want to explain why things were bad that round from my perspective, since you seem fairly worked up about it. From what I recall we were the only two members of command. Fernando Gonzales is not great at command. I intentionally play communication as one of his biggest shortfalls. So I didn't mind not hearing from you on the radio. Until we watched someone die on sensors. Died in the library, then moved down through Maint beneath the bar. We called out about this, no response. We waited. No response. My doctors are not security officers. I don't send them into potential murder scenes without security there for very, exceedingly obvious reasons. All the same, we had to head down there ourselves. At this point my doctor convinces me to try contacting you again. So I do, again, over command. I don't have security radio and I know better than to move a murder victim before the CSI can get there. From my perspective, I am standing at a murder scene, vulnerable, with my vulnerable doctor friend. I can't hear that you're giving security orders. So after another moment, I use general comms, which again, I try to avoid, to tell security there is a dead officer in maint AND (because I am playing a grump who is scared in a dark murder scene) that you have not responded and don't seem to care that one of your officers is down. Because you hadn't responded. Communication is super important in command. Even when I'm playing my bad at communication character, I hit all the important points to make sure I'm doing the bare minimum I need to in command. That so many people are experiencing the same thing in different circumstances is concerning. -
Character Complaint - Kato Zane/K0NFL1QT

I've experienced similar issues with this character. I can go into more detail if it's warranted -
For the record, I've been in some really fun 4+ hour rounds. Cryo exists for a reason, and we don't always need active antags to entertain ourselves. And sometimes, antags DO find a way to stretch out an interesting plot for some 3 hours. I understand that the human attention span just, isn't that long, but I don't know. I think admins and CCIA already do a fine job with this.

[accepted]LanceLynxx's Head Whitelist
Resilynn replied to LanceLynxx's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I spent a tiny bit of time around Sukhoi recently to get a feel for the character, and, I think Lance really has a grasp on RP. The character is played exceptionally well. I have no doubts about Lance's ability to play a measured command character, within rules and regulations. I give an enthusiastic +1. -
Yeah, I just don't see what this accomplishes. Vending machine food is already annoying and inferior to normal food. Toxins was better than this. I don't care about realism too much (I do, but I know, it's a silly space game), but I don't see how this enhances the game even a little.

Your title shows how often you post. So, a chaplain is someone who's posted under 10 times, I think. It doesn't actually reflect your job in game.
-
Post more often. Your job title just shows how active you are on the forums.

I don't know how often it happens, but I do know that just last night I wandered by the captain and HoP in a cult round, and asked them for something, and were told that they had been relieved of duty by the ERT 'the moment they arrived'. They seemed like perfectly sane individuals who were not in need of arrest or therapy and were just enjoying coffees in the bridge lounge in the middle of a crisis. That scenario is what prompted me to make this thread. The Captain (and really the whole command staff, but this could really fall under a 'the captain can veto them relieving his command staff' clause.) should not, barring some very specific reasons, be able to be relieved of duty on the whim of the ERT. I was the HoP this round, and yes, it was ridiculous. Moreover, when we had a message from CentCom about being on red alert without notice for too long, the ERT scolded the Captain and said, and I'm not kidding here, "Just because you are relieved from duty does not mean you are not still responsible for the operation of this station."

Reporting Personnel: Ellie Shoshanna Rank of Reporting Personnel: Head of Personnel Game ID: bTm-aUif- round immediate after Personnel Involved: T. Genesis, Head of Security: Offender (unsure of ckey) Ilaeza Marwani, Cargo Technician: Witness Leonard Kaifer, Quartermaster: Witness Time of Incident: Real time: 0400 UTC, 13/3/18 Location of Incident: Cargo Department Nature of Incident: [x]Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury [x]Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ Overview of the Incident:Around this time, my cargo techs informed me that the Head of Security, Mr. Genesis, had been behaving strangely. He ordered shotgun shells on green alert and submitted the following "paperwork" to the cargo department before having their autolathe hacked for the manufacture of ammunition. I was not informed of this request or decision until after the fact (and would have, frankly, not allowed it). I have made a copy of the paperwork he submitted, here attached. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Nathan Corvo, Captain Actions taken: By the time I was made aware the autolathe had been hacked, Mr. Genesis was in cryo. He was moved to storage as I searched for him, so no actions were taken. Additional Notes: Security has no authority to alter the equipment in the cargo department without the permission of either the Head of Personnel and the Chief Engineer, or the Captain. This could have easily endangered the crew if it were not for the caution and extraordinary responsibility shown by the cargo department.

I don't think I used the right word. What you described is exactly what I was trying to describe. The Talpi sense vibrations through the rock (or other solid surfaces) in order to 'see' and communicate. If they leave the ground then they are blind. This is why they rely on carp to travel between asteroids - carp are their eyes and ears. I agree. They are very adorable. However Talpi are meant to be a species with a lot of crafting abilities. As well, we will need to sprite all of their unique clothes and these clothes will not be able to be worn by the human crew. I will be a little sad that I will not be able to accept a bunch of loincloths as a diplomatic gift from the Talpi tribe. But Garnascus is extremely offended by the race being anthromophic, and it may be a compromise that is necessary. I personally will be disappointed at the loss of shared accessories and clothing because that is such a huge part of rationalization for our character's sprites. I suppose I can just have the clothes that fit humans be put into a new menu that they craft specifically for human sale. There's a lot under the hood that relies on it. If you make something too inhuman, EVERY SINGLE worn item we have must be looked over. Then you have to look at the hand slots, etc. Well yeah but I don't wanna see talpi ding dongs in zero-G. An easy solution is to have them have accessories- hats, gloves, that kind of thing, instead of normal clothes.

This sprite is fuckin sweet, but why not clothes? Like all the carp based stuff we had. Clothes don't make sense for a species that doesn't have to worry about exposure, especially one sensitive to pressure.

[Accepted]Resilynn's Skrell Application
Resilynn replied to Resilynn's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
A doctor born around 2200 on Jargon IV just after Glorshtimes. He's spent his life trying to solve the fertility problem, in large part, because he and his Quualt'Shriapt (also a geneticist trying to solve the problem, and quite a few years older than him) wanted a child. They were never able to have one. He believes too many people glorify and romanticize the sciences-- for him, the sciences are absolutely a necessity but have brought him mostly misery. He was obsessive about his work for many years and failed to pursue other interests in favor of trying to undo that particular facet of Glorsh's damage. And he and his Quualt'Shriapt did succeed in some small way, contributing to the ~33% fertility rate today. Sadly, they still were unable to have their own children, despite a lifelong investment in it. His Quualt'Shriapt died a few years ago, a slow passing due to old age, and in his mourning he has abandoned his research for a time. He's never not had work to do, so he has taken up a low paying and not very challenging job as a xenobiologist through NanoTrasen to keep himself busy. --Is an example of another Skrell character idea that I came up with in a few minutes here that has nothing to do with humans. -
BRAINOS and I have been working on this a little bit in our spare time, for fun. We posit that they should not work by echolocation because space is, well, a void and that's not how sound works. However, what about tremor-sense, there the sound vibrations are coming from the ground, instead? We've made a sprite where they have long, dexterous toenails, which could clack rhythmically on the ground as a form of language. On the note of the sprite, this is what we've come up with. Their mouths are not designed for speech, since again, the void of space. They are a tiny bit smaller than humans. They can't wear human clothes, but they could wear hats and we can sprite some clothes that work for them. Their eyes reflect their diet (it'd be neat if they were a little bioluminescent). Their skin is almost like an airbag, leathery and puffed up from gaseous chemical reactions caused by their diet, which explains why pressure would be lethal to them from a physiological standpoint. They have long nails built for digging. I think they look kind of cute. Anyway, I especially approve of BRAINOS's design because there's no reason alien species need to look so much like humans, or be able to wear human clothes. Especially in a vacuum: they clearly don't need protection from exposure and if pressure isn't good for them, clothes would be uncomfortable.

Revert the Mapping Changes to Medical and the Brig

For the record, I kind of like the layout and it took me about a round to adjust to it. -
But... I like my liver.

[Accepted] Death’s Head Application
Resilynn replied to SRVODeath's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'm generally pretty skeptical of anyone applying for a whitelist who hasn't been here for very long, but I've seen Lemskr in action and I haven't seen any big problems. I really like your section on OOC responsibility. I think you could do well. +1 from me. -
I think this is a good idea too. I was surprised there wasn't already a specific place for feedback.

Unable to Speak without Breathing or Lungs
Resilynn replied to Fortport's topic in Completed Projects
I like this! Too often does medical get someone in their lobby calmly saying "Hello I have ruptured my lungs." -
Ferny is my oldest character, by far (my baby is almost two!). Ellie is a lot better known, so I get tons of feedback on her, but I was wondering what everyone thinks of Fernando? Specifically, do you think he is roleplayed well? What do you enjoy, what does he do that pisses you off immensely? Do you think he's a good CMO? A good doctor? (Those are different things, afterall.) Thanks, I love you all. <3

[Denied] Butter's Head App
Resilynn replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
This is all true. Can you go in more detail on your OOC responsibility in regards to facilitating roleplay? I've interacted with Mikam more than any of the other characters, and I have appreciated how you choose to RP him. He has personality, he has flaws, he has strengths, and I have seen him make effort to make rounds more interesting. +1 from me. -
[Denied] Arkter's Head of Staff Whitelist
Resilynn replied to Arkter's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
In Command, you have a lot of power over how the round goes. You can easily shut down an entire conflict with just a tiny bit of effort, but conflict is what creates story, and we are a high RP server. How would you strive to help facilitate RP on the server, even (especially) with antags, in this role? -
[Accepted]Resilynn's Skrell Application

[mention]Loow[/mention] , here are my answers to your questions (I'm on a phone, so I really can't bother with formatting if I quote your whole post, I hope that's okay). What themes from the Skrell lore (so far) do you enjoy seeing or reading about? What would you personally enjoy reading more about in future wiki-updates or articles? I had a kick on Skrell religion for a bit, since Fernando, my CMO, was reached out to by a Skrell Chaplain. Also, since I play an IPC, I have, of course, read about the Skrell's history with AI, Glorsh included. These pieces of history and culture fascinate me. I'm a huge nerd for lore, so it's hard for me to think of what I'd like to know more about without going into a huge tangent. I'd like to know more about their tech, I suppose, and how it differs from human tech. We know the Skrell are more advanced, but we don't know exactly in which fields and exactly how much more advanced they are. Speaking of subtle and not-so-subtle, consider how your character would speak. I have a degree in English literature and spent a huuuuge amount of time studying linguistics. This kind of stuff gets me stupidly excited. You tend to play heads-of-staff, and I imagine this would eventually mean playing a Skrell head-of-staff at some point. Do you intend to do this immediately? It's true that 2/3 of my regular characters, and the 2 that I play the most, at that, are Heads of Staff. I am not planning on making a Skrell Head of Staff. I don't have a good enough character idea for one. I am invested in the idea of Quilp'Vlomn. That's not to say I won't eventually end up making a command Skrell, but that's not the plan. My IPC is a lowly Forensic Tech and I have no problem playing someone without much authority. I get enough authority/recognition out of Ellie, honestly. -
