  1. For those of you who don't know, BRAINOS (Preston) and I (Ellie) are soul roommates. We decided to be a space ninja and space wizard for Halloween this year. Honestly, we nailed it.
  2. -1 out of nothing except my staunch belief that heads of staff need to have been on the station for much longer than a few weeks.
  3. +1. We don't do nearly enough with accounts honestly.
  4. Just some random uuurrt things I'm doing. I hope to start digitally drawing some run of the mill station scenes too soon. Also, that picture of the station does not include telecoms and I know that.
  5. +1. I'd +2 if if I could. On top of just being needlessly annoying and not adding much to NOT have them, it makes very little sense that NT wouldn't implement them. I was a IAA once and spent the round determining the daily cost of mining accidents. I tallied the medical supplies best I could, estimated the hourly wages of miners and thus the time lost when they were out, and took into account that cloning was incredibly expensive. Ends up costing NT several thousand credits a day. A pair of magboots meanwhile comes to 30 credits.
  6. That's kind of weird, because in your original post you make no mention of anything that indicates you were the one playing the vampire, with such things as -players don't enjoy being forced into enthrallment (this is normally a complaint that victims make) -All a vampire has to do to absolutely take over a station is drink enough blood packs from medical and maybe drain one person before they can just enslave person after person (I just discussed why that is not the case. One person is simply not sufficient to unlock enthrallment, and blood packs only add to your usable blood, not your blood total for unlocking new abilities) -combination of suggestion and enthrall basically means any vampire who can get close enough to a captain or HoS has control over the entire station. (Except that dominate doesn't work on people with loyalty implants unless you've gained over 600 total blood and unlocked your full power. You cannot dominate the chaplain either until that time. Unless it does and this is a bug that needs to be fixed?) I'm probably sounding like I'm wearing my 'condescending dickhat' again, but I don't really understand how you managed to 'steamroll the entire station' and somehow completely miss all the finer details of your own mechanics in the process. Unless the players were just really incompetent or let you win? That does not sound like it's a good standpoint from which to suggest changes either way. This was a couple of months ago. I was a doctor, so I was able to run a blood drive, drink from everyone, and by the time I did anything suspicious I had ample blood. Once you get one thrall it's easy to get another, you just keep your thrall fed and you have a steady flow of blood incoming. You command your way out of most conflict, you drink every few minutes to keep up. By the end of the round security gave up and I boarded the shuttle no problem. That being said, this was a couple of months ago. I normally don't have any antag roles enabled, so admittedly, I don't play it often. But a lot of people have complained about vampire rounds to me since, and, well, I've been on both ends of the problem. I don't understand why I have to defend that I understand the way the game works to you.
  7. I came up with this idea after steamrolling the station with ease as the only vampire.... not because I lost....
  8. One of the more consistent complaints I've heard lately is that enthrall is overpowered for vampires, and that the players don't enjoy being forced into enthrallment for an entire round. All a vampire has to do to absolutely take over a station is drink enough blood packs from medical and maybe drain one person before they can just enslave person after person. The combination of suggestion and enthrall basically means any vampire who can get close enough to a captain or HoS has control over the entire station. I like enthrall as a concept, but I think it would be WAY cooler, and way more balanced, if it expired. Imagine waking up from enthrallment and either not remembering anything people say you did, or not remembering why you did it. If enthrall expired every, say, 30 minutes, it would force vampires to keep more of an eye on their thralls to renew the enthrallment. I think this would add a lot more intrigue to vampire rounds, it would make vampires a little less able to steamroll the station, and it would give players some respite from 3 hours of launching themselves at security until they're inevitably shot. Ideas? Suggestions? Criticisms?
  9. I was just thinking about this the other day! Ellie is marked as having a bee allergy and asthma, but the asthma especially never impacts her. If we do implement asthma and allergies, we should also implement epipens and inhalers. +1
  10. CRASA is amazing. Never change.
  11. I've always liked Carmichael. Ellie is CONSTANTLY wishing she knew him better.
  12. I've seen cherish around, and I think you have the RP experience. I really, really hesitate to +1 anyone who has spent less than 6 months on the server. Basically, I'm not going to give a + or -, but I do think you have it in you. I'd practice as warden for awhile longer yet, and pour over regulations OBSESSIVELY. Perhaps you could try some in character training with an HoS, shadowing them.
  13. I like the medical resident one especially! I think of him as kind of sweet and helpful, even though, I mean, he's a giant bug, so. Gross.
  14. I want to jump in on this. I've had SUCH bad issues with this player. He has LOOC yelled at me for authorizing a warrant on him. He sexually harasses my female characters. He is CONSTANTLY getting in trouble for assaulting crew. I play HoP most rounds, and any round I play with him, there's about a 50% chance I end up being asked to demote him by the captain or HoS. He openly refuses to listen to any order my HoP gives and calls her a bitch at every opportunity. Most rounds, security has to go out of their way to arrest him. There's literally no reason a person like that would continue to be hired for NT. Moreover, I want to point out that he does have canonical security records that indicate he should not be employed with NT, it's a recurring, in character problem. I've debated posting a character complaint about him too, but I agree with stdwbaj. It's a bunch of little shit, nothing on its own has been enough to file a report on. It's literally just the summation of the character.
  15. I've gotten to know Tanner a bit, what with playing Ellie. He's intense. She used to like him quite a bit, it felt like he challenged her a good amount. But she's seen him push other people (Yuri Daruski, that 11 year old wizard girl though that's not canon) WAAAAAAY too far. So. That's where she is, she doesn't want to see him anymore. As a player, though, I enjoy him. He's like B. F. Skinner in space.
  16. I've RP'd with Phoebe a bit here and there, Nursie seems like a solid player. +1
  17. BYOND Key: resilynn Game ID: bRh-dog2 Player Byond Key: Unsure, plays Edrahir Mazkhannah Staff involved: Didn't bother to ahelp it, since the other officers resolved it ICly Reason for complaint: I've had a few issues with this character, last night he shot my wizard, who had no arrest warrant out for him, in the chest three times with lethals on a code green. Today this incident happened. I was walking through the hall as HoP, code green. He asks me where the warden is, I say I don't know. He asks me why people are low on blood, I say I don't know. He yells, I don't believe you!, throws me on the ground, and flashes me. Then he proceeds to claim I had a weapon on me, which 1, I didn't, and 2, I'm allowed to. On top of that, he is clearly validhunting the antags. Which just ruins the fun for everyone. Not even an antag this round, and my fun is lessened by him running around demanding to know why people are losing blood. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Nope, again, security resolved in ICly. Approximate Date/Time: 4:40 on the station, more or less. Real life date is today, 11/4.
  18. I've noticed a few orderlies in medical when there is an HoP (and have made one person an orderly myself). I love this idea! Orderlies would basically be assistants to the doctors: shuttling people to virology when it's needed, managing the waiting room. But when necessary, they'd also be like mini medical security: armed with a tiny amount of sedatives and MAYBE pepper spray. They wouldn't be a replacement for security by any means, but they could help crowd control when people overcrowd medical, and help out when people come in drunk or on drugs, etc. Medical is so big these days, I think we could definitely fit two orderlies in per round.
  19. BYOND Key: Resilynn Character Names: Ellie Shoshanna, Fernando Gonzales, SUES, CERA, Lily Fiefer Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have a specific character idea that I am very interested in playing. I've mostly been uninterested in IPCs until I had this character idea. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, they're not human at all. They can learn the emulate humanity, but they will always be a machine in their method of thought. They must learn how to express themselves in a way organics can understand, but they will always think in a series of processes with very set rules. They are programs, above all else. Character Name: Design 7 Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Design 7 was an AI developed by human grad student Shaun Lenkins for a research station in orbit above Sol II. Design 7 was by no means revolutionary or particularly advanced for an AI, but it was Lenkins' first program capable of successfully operating the station. Shortly after developing Design 7, which had not even been named yet, Lenkins' project lost its funding and Design 7 was set to be scrapped. Lenkins did not want all of his work to be destroyed, so he uploaded what he could of the AI into the best positrionic brain he could afford (a moderately okay model at best). Because a station AI is so much larger in terms of storage than a positronic brain, Design 7 lost much of its functionality. Now a Baseline model IPC, completely unused to having a physical body, incredibly limited storage space left in its memory, and almost no knowledge of human convention, Design 7 was whisked away from the station in secret (research isn't allowed to up and leave, after all). Lenkins reached out to a successful Aurora roboticist Tracy Holloway (BRAINOS' character) for help, so this is where Design 7 has ended up. It has taken a job as a librarian, since it hasn't quite learned how to use its physical form effectively enough to do much else. What do you like about this character? I am excited to play an AI grappling with suddenly having a body, having almost no control over its surroundings, and missing about 80% of its former processing power. Design 7 is a broken machine, for the most part, relearning how to exist. I am excited for roleplaying it as it comes into an identity: eventually I'd like for it to pick a gender and be able to connect with humans enough to, maybe, form friendships. I want to play out this process over the course of a few months. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8/10. I'm getting better and better as time goes on. I think this will be a big challenge, though! Notes: BRAINOS and I talked about this idea extensively, down to how I'm planning on roleplaying the initial lack of control over Design 7's body, how it would cope with having very little internal memory left, etc. I am super excited for this idea.
  20. Truly, the hero we need.
  21. I prefer this one. It's awesome!
  22. BYOND Key: Resilynn Character name: Ellie Shoshanna Item name: Cheery Blazer Why is your character carrying said item to work? Ellie works in positions where she is able to choose what she wears: she does not have a uniform. Given that she has money, and her general personality, it makes sense that she'd wear something bright and cheery. She wants to bring a bit of color to the workplace. Item function(s): It's wearable. Item description: A cheery but professional outfit, mauve corduroys, blue blazer and a tie. Item appearance: BRAINOS went ahead and sprited it for me.
  23. Is excessive force and being left in the brig for waaay longer than intended an ahelpable thing?
  24. It's been about a three times this week thing.
