  1. What Resi said Although I would perhaps consider the idea of being able to order blank injectors from cargo that you need to fill with whatever you need to fill, as a way to implement "custom injectors" without throwing balance out the window
  2. Appealing Personnel: Natascha Sukhoi - Scientist Specific Incident: Botched surgery for substitution of prosthetics for organic limbs, leading to passing of Mother Matrella in Robotics' Surgery. Original report attached: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=90&p=100098 Action taken as a result: Action contested: All actions Reasoning for contest: I don't believe I should be punished for the death of a crewmember due to mistakes made by the roboticist. I had no involvement in any of the surgical procedures performed other than providing a whole protohuman for limb harvesting. I didn't advise or otherwise have any say in the procedure, neither assisted with any procedures, nor was I physically present inside the robotics' surgery room at the time of the surgery, as I have next to no experience in that area. The roboticist confirmed that it was able and experienced enough to perform the surgery when I inquired about it. I had no reason to doubt its judgement, seeing as it was it's department's specialty to deal with prosthetic implants and surgeries on a daily basis. I do not think it is correct for me be held accountable for the errors of someone else, in someone else's area of expertise, by their own hands, if not a supervising superior. This would be akin to punishing a Atmospheric Technician for a Phoron Researcher damaging the station using atmospherics-supplied Phoron cannisters. Thus, I do not feel like I should be found guilty by association, when , other than providing a whole, live, organic body for limb harvesting and reattachment, I had no part in the events that led to the passing of Mother Matrella. Additional notes: It's worth noting that medical staff outright refused to perform the surgery in the first place after Doctor Fernando Gonzales, who was at first in charge of the operation, went into cryogenic storage, which is why I asked the roboticist if he was able to do it.
  3. Using power cells for laser weapons would be very very cool. Default cells could be normal cells, with larger cells providing more shots. And if we go there, why stop, have a dial selector on the gun for energy use! More power per shot = Less shots. Less power per shot = more shots.
  4. Any amount. Slime health and strength are fine as is. They're something you should be careful around and not mess with, unless you know what you're doing. There isn't really any reason to change them. Only arguement presented for it was "other servers have weaker ones, ours are dangerous". Well, other servers also have other shit we don't, so it's not really a solid reason to change them.
  5. There are many ways to easily kill slimes. Water is not the most effective Neither is the freeze ray There is a way to kill a slime within 10 seconds using only things in xenobio, never mind more creative ways that you just need to think about. I don’t want to give it away but in any case, they’re not hard to kill to extract stuff.
  6. I don't like the idea of nerfing slimes' health. If someone dies to a slime due to mistakes, it's because they didn't do their job properly. That would be like lowering fall damage because, well, miners. Otherwise, I like the idea of temperature-specific slimes. I would also suggest editing the freeze gun into a temperature beam. The description states you can alter the temperature on it, but you can't, really. So if you could maybe find a way to change it into a temperature beam with selector, would be great
  7. Okay then. I cut off the rest of the first part because it was moot. There is no absurd difficulty to check a manifest on a public newscaster/request console, therefore, any attributes related to that issue are moot, thus, not relevant, since the "too hard" arguement does not hold ground. I just snipped it for the sake of being concise. Nobody likes a wall of text. I addressed what you asked. I rationalized how "removing" (more like moving) a gameplay feature adds to depth: By not having information readily available and requiring minimal effort to acquire, gives depth in itself. Lack of knowledge IS the depth here. Imagine if everyone had X-ray vision (visual information readily available at all times). Use of maintenance shafts would become useless by anyone wanting to sneak around, antag or not. That's an example. You don't have to give something back to compensate for "removal" of anything, this isn't alchemy. Mechanics are not always to better gameflow. Some are for enabling some things, disabling others, this one is for making things more open-ended and versatile both for antags and also for any crew that decides to sneak in somewhere for whatever reason, which doesn't always mean self-antagging behavior. Everything else you posted is irrelevant and off topic. 1-"You people" I don't even play antagonists, my dude. I suggest this because I find it would make infiltration a more appealing method of getting into places. For instance, as it is, chamelon clothing to dress as someone or some job is useless because anyone will just look you up on manifest and go "owo wats dis". Never mind the "realism", in any job, only command posts and security would receive manifest copies due to privacy concerns. Other people just know a department exists. But I digress. 2-Removing a manifest from PDA will not slow down round progression. It's not required for progression at all. You will still have access to it on newscasters/requests consoles anyways. If it's too hard for you to move 5 tiles and click a wall, maybe you're just being extremely lazy expecting hand hold everything.
  8. Full stop. There's a newscaster and requests console every 5 tiles in any given direction. There's nothing difficult about it. I explained the thought behind it in the first post. But I'll also add this; information, or lack of it, adds to depth. And even then, it just removes the function of handing information on a silver platter. It will still be there, publically accessible, but will require the minimum amount of effort of stepping 5 tiles and clicking a wall. Note that even with manifests, every round you see someone go "Do we have a X", which kinda goes back to saying that people will always look for the lazy option, in this case, common radio.
  9. wholeheartedly +1. pAI already get timestamps in normal chat, can't be that hard to port the functionality to the PDA.
  10. how about this Remove the manifest from PDA BUT!!!! Have manifest publicly available in requests consoles or newscasters? That way, most issues raised here go out the window, but it also doesn't make it as easy as pulling up a PDA to check the manifest.
  11. Even more reason for you to get to know your colleagues. Know who they are and where they work! (unfortunately there is job hopping but that's beyond the point)
  12. I would suggest removing access to the Manifest from PDAs from anyone who isn't Command staff. IC-wise, this type of personal information detailing crew placement wouldn't be available to general crew, only to the higher-ups in administration, for being a technically sensitive type of information. OOC-wise, would make antags much more able to attempt to blend into a department without anyone simply looking at the manifest and going "whoops who dis" Antaggery aside, you'd have to communicate with people to find out who is where, doiing what, perhaps pay them a visit or something, which arguably forces people to make an effort to acquire information, and makes contact more interesting, in my opinion. PDA messaging should be fine as is with a list, just remove the job title from after the name.
  13. I don't think this is valid enough reason to justify an OOC ban on messing with comms. It just removes communication, does not mean antags are not saying they won't negotiate or anything of the sort. It won't ruin a round like an engine grief or phoron leak, which affects the entire station with lethal problems. Lack of comms is just an annoyance, and anyone with two brain cells can go to Cargo or Sci for station-bounced radios, or use intercomms. And Engineering/Science can fix the issue.
  14. thread hasn't been active for over a year so eh november 2017 is 6-7 month-ish
  15. bumping for great justice
  16. might wanna put it here https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=8817
  17. -1 from me metagaming concerns are valid, but also, It's a small detail that mostly goes unnoticed and it's up to you to check as part of your daily routine, if you are a careful person. It rewards carefulness.
  18. it's a suggestions board the whole point is you put in things you want other people to code I'm all for this idea, but it's like my suggestion for Atmos upgrade https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10394 It's a quite enormous undertaking.
  19. So... who's coding this?
  20. Nar'Sie is now a Malware? EDIT: AFAIK constructs don't leak oil or become piles of debri when destroyed. Some even become ectoplasm or ashes.
  21. Unpopular opinion: If it doesn't bleed, it doesn't belong in a cult that uses blood to perform mystical feats. People choose to play a non-organic race. This has pros and cons. This is one of them.
  22. As soon as Cake can make the IPC lore updtae, that should help with a lot of this.
  23. How is this relevant? You're arguing for the sake of arguing. There is no point to be made here. But even then, consider the mode is Blood Cult, with themes such as souls, ressurections, sacrifices, usage of blood and consumption thereof, arcane and occult magic, mysterious powers of evil. All atributes of emotional, spiritual beings, not machines subject to logic and reason.
  24. It's a problem when gameplay and lore don't get along. Especially when it's something blatant like being an organic being vs being a machine, in a setting that deals with gods, faith, and religion. Otherwise synths would just be reskinned humans.
