[Lohikar] Add the NT Lunchbox to the Kitchen Vendor
Conspiir replied to Azande's topic in Completed Projects
I honestly was not even aware there WAS a kitchen vendor. So I went to look. Then I realized you meant the Dinnerware vendor. And then I realized this suggestion makes mucho sense. -

I like this. This makes sense. I either have the choice of being in my body or ghosting and listening in anyway. At least if I'm in my body, they don't get the "soul has departed" fluff.

I'm a Hufflepuff. Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders.

I see, I see. So if I wanted to write something like a work day involving another person's character and then they read it and they decide "Yeah, that could have actually happened" it could become their own canon but if I wrote the story of how Glorsh and Madam Skrell wanted to have many robot-skrell gene spliced children... It shouldn't ever actually be referred to in any way as though it happened. Which would be ridiculous, just saying, but it popped into my head as an example.
-
(First off, it's two words and that bothers me because I've only ever seen it written as one) I'm confused at whether it can be canon or not or start noncanon and be accepted by the player characters as canon or what have you.

Deadchat has the option. It'd be nice to know who plays whom without having to ask after the round. Plus it helps in knowing who a person is for when they post their whitelist apps.

[Accepted] MFalco's IPC Whitelist Application
Conspiir replied to MFalco's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Don't know how much my word means. I might be a tad bit biased. But I've seen Falco go from "Conspire, there's no way I can do this" to "Okay, I'm having fun doing this this is ridiculous". He's made some fine Vaurca. He'll make a fine robot man. +1 -
[Withdrawn] Datberry's Vaurcae LoreDev Application
Conspiir replied to DatBerry's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I could live with this. This portion was my last reservation in giving this my nod of approval. You've reached out to some of us that play Vaurca for our thoughts. And while I know you don't have to listen to anything we have to say or please us in any way, I could see you being a solid choice for the Vaurca future. +1 from another bug. -
Still think this is a good idea and deserves consideration. I'd like an actually random mode.

I may be a minority here, but I like limitations. They give a realism to the fictional world. The fact they can serve at all in those positions is surprising to me, and a large step forward. I remember when they couldn't. You don't have to be like a human to be a Shell. There are so many subtle differences you can bring out that make it apparent you aren't a human. Never using contractions. Never saying the words "I feel". Giving off a general air of "That isn't quite human, is it?" If anything, it increases the roleplay potential. This limitation is realistic for those two roles. I'd love to see an IPC HoP that just kind of... stares. I'd pay good money to be unsettled by the heads of staff I know will always do their job correctly.

... That belong in the trash can, please come eat my hard-made food you pieces of sh-- Fixed that for you.

[Withdrawn] Datberry's Vaurcae LoreDev Application
Conspiir replied to DatBerry's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I find the phoron mechanic to be unique. It's ingrained in who they are. The execution of it could stand to be corrected, I agree, but breathing something that is poisonous to everyone else if it leaks brings about an alienness to them. It's explaining how that's profitable that is the trouble. Unless you create a new element altogether, which K'ois is made of, which is functionally the same as phoron but overtly useless. -
You can't just revert it all and expect people to want to play Vaurca again. Their interest has already waned because of lore changes, they're pretty meh about the race because of those changes, I assume. Overturning the entire lore of a race isn't something to do lightly. I want you to make sure you've really thought through whether or not people that stopped playing bug people would want to play them again because the lore was reverted or if you're just realienating people that are playing them and reducing the number of Vaurca players to zero. Have you spoken to people about the idea? You haven't been around to, and that's why I'm hesitant about this. I love Vaurca, I think they're really interesting. But I don't know you and I don't get the feeling you love the Vaurca the same way that those that play them do.
-
But... If you haven't been active, you haven't even met those of us that are actively playing Vaurca now. There's about three of us. Maybe five. But the three I'm thinking of (including myself) all got our Whitelists very recently. I'm not sure I really want a dev that just sweepingly undoes all the things we've been establishing without understanding the state of the server right now.

Ka'Akaix'Kzon Zo'ra: Kzon has ideas and ideals, and no one is going to stop them. They let you dream, just to watch 'em shatter. You're just a step on the bossman's ladder, but you've got dreams he'll never take away. You're in the same boat with a lot of your friends, waiting for the day your ship will come in and the tide's gonna turn and it's all gonna roll your way. Witcher II: Witcher lost a human they cared dearly for. Now they're struggling to make connections, particularly with that human's children. They are finding it difficult to be who they used to be. Now we're back to the beginning. It's just a feeling and no one knows yet. But just because they can't feel it too, doesn't mean that you have to forget. So let your memories grow stronger and stronger, 'til they're before your eyes. You'll come back when they call you. No need to say goodbye.

There are times, when some of us have to consider, "If I go with this person, I am almost certainly going to die". Now you can make up an excuse and leave, or you can go with them and see how it furthers the roleplay. There are times, when a hall is randomly vented and your lung gets ruptured and there's no surgeon that isn't SSD. Now you struggle to medbay, coughing up your own blood because of some freak accident while you were minding your own business, and then you die. There are times, when players new to the server fall in a hole on the asteroid. They die, they are retrieved, and cloned. Except... no more cloning? Dying is a large part of the game, let's be honest. But people sometimes have hope of being cloned and stick around. What you're suggesting is everyone play Vaurca (who, as we all know, are pretty resigned whenever they die to not getting cloned, and it feels pretty sad every time). No one gets a second chance. The job slot their old character had is filled. It's not a matter of "git gud" it's a matter of inclusiveness.
-
So your point of view is to remove Vaurca from the game? That isn't helpful at all, man. The pool of Vaurca players should be higher, lorewise, since they are free labor. If they are provided K'ois, they work for less than the cost of the K'ois itself. We should be working to make Vaurca more attractive and accessible OOCly. There aren't many that want to deal with trying to breathe and those of us that do must certainly be masochists.
-
I'd rather have all the common problems with Vaurca in one place than have three different topics about bugs that people aren't going to look at anyway because 'It's just bugs'. Since we need a new lore dev once more, and the group of people that actually PLAY Vaurca are about... oh... five... I'd say what's brought up here is all valid. It's what can be done about it now that is really important. A Vaurca medkit. People understanding basic care of an alien species. People taking at least some interest in their existence if only for the OOC reason if "There's a person behind that character that wants to play the game".

I'd be alright with this.

[Accepted] ajstorey456 IPC Application
Conspiir replied to ajstorey456's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've had interacts with Cherish several times in my duties aboard, and they've always been nice. One thing I would mention is to expand on the "Why you wish to play this race" and "Identify what makes this race different" sections up to a paragraph, to make sure you understand the IPCs as a conglomerate. But honestly, +1 from me. -

[Accepted] Conspire's IPC App
Conspiir replied to Conspiir's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Sure, Booty. Trust me, you aren't the only person to be super confused with the name. Witcher II is currently a Medical Rescue Android. The original Witcher, circa 2457, was an AI turned IPC turned scrap metal during the time it was meant to serve on the NSS Aurora I. The original Witcher was far more... eccentric, so the creator, Malcolm, toned it down in the second model in hopes for success in repayment for the first model's too-short tenure. Malcolm has actually been raising a fund amongst his coworkers, neighbors, and various net benefactors to afford his next successful program a shell. Turns out people really bought in to the whole Chivalry thing. Witcher II was really connected to a chemist aboard the Aurora II, Emerson Shaner, who Witcher II recently found out committed suicide, and whose four children are currently serving aboard. Witcher II, when presented with the body it would be inhabiting, asked to be taken off of the medical roster and placed in a bartender position instead. The only job role set for it right now is bartender, it has no interest in security, though the programming for EMT remains for possible future use, should it want to return to its previous duties (though it doesn't want anything to do with it right now beyond maybe putting a bandaid on a drunk guy that tripped). Be a shame to remove valuable code, even if it isn't being used. -
Vaurca Medicine: How Do I Give Medicine to Bugman?
Conspiir replied to Conspiir's topic in Guides & Tutorials
You're right, I remember this being mentioned in a round and I forgot to edit this accordingly. Edited now.
