  1. (I got out of bed for this suggestion; it was important) So, the chef's vendor--whatever it's called, the one with glasses and cutlery and trays it's late don't judge--follows the same rules as junk food vendors. It shouldn't. I shouldn't spawn as a chef and only have 1 fork to give to my customers. Make it like the boozeomat or something and have it spawn stocked.
  2. Agree. It's part of creating the character and gimmick. Don't let it fail before it even has a chance due to RNG.
  3. I meant this more from an emergency physician perspective. I shouldn't have to take the analyzer from my pocket to tell they're bleeding from their crotch. I'm also not about to grab them and feel their crotch to be able to tell they're bleeding when I could whip out my analyzer. It's all a matter of how fast this should be able to be done and how obvious it should really be. Glad it's being added.
  4. This would be nice. Not being able to see bruises on a torso is fine, but if I can't quickly examine a patient that was just stabbed about eight times with a kitchen knife to the torso and see anything wrong, I just feel incompetent. Like I need a health analyzer for something that should be just basic sense.
  5. I can't support this. As neat as it sounds, it's not what the server needs. People will low skill level in a thing will be pushed aside by the people with higher skill level in a thing, every time. Even if you're roleplaying a, say, medical resident. No, as soon as the crisis hits, you cannot be allowed to touch patients because you'll use too many bandages. Like Bauser says, we aren't an RPG and we don't "level up." The characters learn organically, not through what a skill page says.
  6. I asked about this once in OOC. If it were being implemented. I think it was Arrow that told me adding things to the current research system was notoriously difficult.
  7. I will actually miss that misc room. That was often used as a way to show off an experiment or piece of circuitry to some of science. Not to mention it had an autopsy room for looking at the effects on monkeys. They're used a lot more than just "a hiding place for antags". There were a couple bombsuits in there, too, which I always thought was weird  I noticed it right away, but the reason I didn't say anything was because I figured the remapped telescience could do just about the same thing, except without the autopsy chamber. I also used that little hallway as a safe escape during a lab lockdown on no power (you can actually make your way around from RnD to where telescience is now, into the breakroom, and then into maintenance) but since the chemistry room now connects directly to maintenance, it doesn't matter anymore as long as scientists and lab assistants have access to that maint tunnel. Everyone in science, period, should have access to the telescience and break room ones but only RnD-access scientists should have access to the chemistry room one. Make sense? Makes sense. So the only thing I'd say is readd an autopsy table somewhere.
  8. If I remember right, this was probably the drunk bartender who stole the shotgun that was either emptied or still filled with beanbags, because one of the militia was trying to get it back to fill it with lethals and he wouldn't hand it over and ran off. We assumed he died. When the militia had a chance, we ran up to hide in the construction level. After the attack by a couple cultists and a juggernaut that we managed to survive, we just bunkered down because ERT then arrived. We would later move out for medicine or other reasons, such as power cells. After that initial confrontation (which nearly everyone in the fight was armed with makeshift glass-on-a-stick weapons--though I did pick up a scythe I think came from the warehouse? I have no idea where it came from but it was cool--the IPC with a chainsaw didn't even have fuel for it and needed my help to find some), the bulk of the militia (I can't speak for stragglers that left the bunker for any reason, such as the CMO and a Doctor going to get spaceacillin) were not involved in another fight. We waited and talked about getting milkshakes when it was all over. We knew from the AI that the HoP was incapacitated (and later obviously hostile and popping out bodies that held swords) and all of security was dead or crazy. That meant no one was coming to save us. Militia in that case would be valid, and you can't tell me otherwise. The CMO would arrive later and come join us. If you want to suggest a tighter policy on something, use an example that would actually have benefited from the tighter rules and explain why. You're using an example that would have occurred exactly the same way even if there were tighter rules on self-formed civ militias. What do you want civ to do? Sit there and wait to die without a stick in their hands at least?
  9. For the lunchbox, the Vaurca do not have a safe drink option. With the addition of the Vaurca-safe drink to the soft drink machine (Phoron Punch, not the energy drinks), this can be added.
  10. Weighing in as a resident lazyman: I'd like it if the tables were only 1 tile separate from the microwave so I don't have to move back and forth when I'm putting in 12 meatballs, 2 at a time. I'm not sure how that looks aesthetically, however. I also think it'd be cool (for symmetry reasons) to have the window between the kitchen and garden extend just 1 more tile, to behind the oven so it lines up with that hydro space.
  11. -1 name too cool for you, I want it. I like Dionaea backgrounds that come from a place connected with reality. "Where'd you come from?" "The voooid of spaaace." is not always easy to connect with. "Meeendeeeell" is sure to raise some eyebrows. There are Dionaea that were raised by people, too! And this one seems like a solid addition to the dwindling tree population. Not to mention, Fresh is an alright sort. +1
  12. Schev's post is equally as important as everyone else's, I ask you to please read it. Some good points are raised, such as the effects on antagonists and another solution of lowering overdose limits. I would hear your opinion on that, please.
  13. When this was originally suggested on the server, I thought it meant that KeloDerm would just do what Dermaline does since its the dominant chemical and there was never any point to making the mix anymore. In my head this equated to "Why would you ever make kelotane, just use dermaline forever" as though you were trading one chemical considered a "bug" for another that was just a step down in effectiveness. And I still see that, to a large extent, which is why I'm still on the fence about it. But at the same time, I see the use in a more long-term solution for severe burns so one doesn't overdose dermaline or something. The medical meta is to heal as fast as possible because no one wants to be stuck in medical for 40 minutes. Spending whole rounds just waiting to be able to walk again isn't fun for the patient, and it certainly isn't good if all of security is there and the bad guys are running rampant. Security wants to get back out there, so you want to get them back out there. That's what medical does: get people back to their jobs efficiently. This change will certainly make it a bit less efficient in some cases. Is that a good thing? Depends on your perspective. Doctors may think it's fun, but is the patient going to enjoy longer cryo times and what have you? I suppose it would depend entirely on how much fixing this years-old bug really changes. If it won't change much, why change it at all and if it will be a pretty big change, is it a good one for all parties involved?
  14. So to make sure we're all on the same page here, would there ever be a reason to use KeloDerm over just Dermaline* or CryoClonex over just Clonex? *I might've put Kelotane at first
  15. Yes! Precisely why altering station time isn't necessary. People will eat when they need to, and what they want to. I wouldn't suggest that next PR if this one goes though.
  16. Pencils generally aren't good if you want to be taken seriously. They're great for things like art, but then you're supposed to go over them again in pen. The permanency of it commits the idea and also suggests you're very serious about whatever you're proposing. Only classes I have that even allow pencilwork to be submitted is math and physics (if math is involved). So, pens. Yeah. These have gotten me through the past several years
  17. I don't think this part is necessary. For starters, just because a chef is present at round start doesn't mean they're 1) Competent 2) Going to be staying for the whole round (or even long enough for said break) 3) Want to DEAL with thirty people on a station all ordering at once 4) Even going to be in the kitchen if they want to do tator or ling things Keep the station time dynamic. People will eat when they want to eat. I have a character that eats. Constantly. You'd be surprised how few chefs are actually in the kitchen even when we HAVE a chef. Having kept up with this thread, though, I understand concerns and arguments for both sides. The only way to figure out which side is more true is to test it out and get some feedback. Hypotheticals about the numbers haven't really told me much until I feel it for myself.
  18. Doomfist: The Weapon? Tbh I rather like these wacky ideas. I'd like to see them implemented in a realistic fashion. As Arrow said, some tweaks would need to be in order (I particularly like that Glacier Gun slow-to-freeze, but it should also be effected by localized heat sources such as you melting quicker if you take some burn damage, too) but these have potential.
  19. Alright. So, what is an IPC supposed to do if there is no roboticist or anyone capable of making lube? Is there no alternative? The lube chamber is public access. Any IPC can access it. What I meant by "no public access lube" is that the lube tank is not public access aka there is no way for people to steal lube. Maybe I'm just dumb, but I don't really get it. Do you have a picture? Because it sounds like it's not public access but it is and IPCs are going to have to drop whatever they're doing to lube up over in robotics.
  20. Alright. So, what is an IPC supposed to do if there is no roboticist or anyone capable of making lube? Is there no alternative?
  21. Surgery isn't open to the main hall? Chemistry hasn't been shoved in a corner? There's Doctor RP without sitting on tables? Things that are next to each other SHOULD be next to each other? My god, this is beautiful. My only wonder is if it's possible to put an advanced scanner in upper cryopod room as well. Sometimes you need a quick check of a person and heading down to the other room for it seems like a minor annoyance. But it's really the call of someone that currently plays medical rather than me. I just think it looks really nice.
  22. It's an interesting idea. I admit, I like where it can be going. I do have a few questions. 1) As mentioned on the git, it's probably not a great idea to have lube accessible publicly. That's bound to lead to some issues. But where is the lube going to be, then? 2) About how long in minutes does it take to go from 100%->normal/75% and from 75%-> hungry/25%? Assuming without running and whatnot, but just sort of walking around as normal. 3) Are there any plans to adjust this racially? Skrell could need more water than an Unathi, for example. 4) Are soups and foods going to contribute to making you less thirsty? Totally should. 5) Rip Vaurca being able to safely drink tea. I suppose the filtered k'ois drink would function as their thirst-deterrent? I don't know if water affects them, someone will have to check me on that.
  23. There's no fire extinguisher in the new bar! Yikes! (Or a request console)
  24. Edit: I've been informed the nymph I based my reply on was not this man's nymph. RIP.
  25. I don't play any medbay characters at the moment, but I know that when Gonzales is here, there's at least one competent doctor aboard should the worst come to pass. Like the entire escape shuttle suddenly being vented and everyone dying in their seats. Yup, we should all be dead. Then comes Gonzales with a hypo and he saves a dozen lives because he knows what he's doing. I'll definitely give you that; you know how medical works. And I feel like because of that, his personality would clash with anyone that does something really dumb. And that's good, because it makes characters want to give their all when he's around. If they don't, well. As seen above, "he doesn't have any other list."
