Yess, but then I'd need to fuck around with image hosting so the link wouldn't go expiring or shit, and I don't really like the idea of some guy having to click a link to out-of-game if they want to know what the item's meant to contain. Soo yup, going to sit with just a short description.

My opinion on wrapping items to store them in a bag has always been to consider it a form of power gaming*, every single one of the pro's you listed lets the person doing it to be 'better' at their job, being faster, better prepared, etc. As convenient as it would be to carry all of your space suit in your bag, I do not think space suits or other large objects should be going into bags unless it's a particularly fancy bag or a particularly fancy suit, not because you wrapped it in paper. As such, I support steering away from that, be it either making it impossible to put such things in bags or just enforcing rules to stop people from doing it. *AKA gaining an advantage in your gameplay while bending what can be considered 'reasonable'.

Relax, while you drawing it was the inspiration, I don't need it for the item and any implementation would probably be at least somewhat awkward.

[Denied] sdtwbaj - Head of Staff Application
Fire and Glory replied to sdtwbaj's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have never seen you before so I only have this application to go off, and the backstory seems a bit nonsensical. I have never heard of any Orange Rush, certainly not in our own lore. Releasing a singularity is a disastrous event, and 7 million is a very large amount, I simply do not see why Nanotrasen would pay 7 million credits for an employee that has already royally fucked up once, especially as a head of staff when the fuck up in question is due to poor management. Pre-edit:Apparently the Orange Rush is some bit of Paradise's lore. I would advise reading our own lore, rejiggering the backstory to not be on such a large scale (Huge sum of money, disastrous event, etc.) -
BYOND Key:Fire and Glory Character name:CAC Item name:Photo of a spider and a robot Why is your character carrying said item to work?At one point CAC was given a spider in a jar by a lab assistant, he took it home, and it grew to be rather big, but a far cry from the man-eating spiders the station contains, CAC thoroughly enjoys messing with his co-workers in the quiet hours and likes to put them off by talking about his spider and showing them a photo of it. Item function(s):Nothing, at all, it exists purely as an object that can be carried and viewed for a description. Item description:It's a photo of a cyan IPC holding a thick fuzzy spider the size of a football. Item appearance:Like normal photos but black-grey with some blue on it instead of a tiny screenshot. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP?CAC has already talked to several people about the spider he has on Odin, he can (and will) show them the photo of it as well as use it to assist in 'show don't tell' for anyone new he wants to tell about it. Additional comments:I feel this'd be a very good object for the character, essentially the only reason CAC has the spider is because he thinks it's hilarious when humans get freaked out and it can't poison him in his sleep because he's a robot, and CAC does enjoy using varying degrees of shock value on humans during his work.

A grainy video feed activates, showing a small dimly lit room, the visible surroundings simply consist of a small table and a charging port off to the left attached to what looks like a steel coffin near the door, everything is unpainted, also notable is the large amount of spider webs everywhere, the majority of it being in the far corner to the right, holding a large black mass the size of a football. In the main focus of the image is a cyan IPC, wearing a blue coat, as it speaks it's difficult to tell what part of the audio quality is a result from poor software and hardware used and what is coming from the IPC itself. "'Ello, this'is CAC, hailin' from me own personal closet on th' Enn Tee Cee Cee Odin, if anyone even still uses this thin', I'm 'ere t' answer some of yer questions an' ignore most of 'em."

I've only seen Cane doing things from far away so I don't actually know much of him, I do know however is that he's been in security and medical, which as I've stated to Xor in-game, doesn't really make sense to me. Then there's the fact where Cane seems to be speaking Sol common over the radio for no reason at all, seemingly doing it just for the lulz (e.g. 'Watch some guy translate this') with no real point other then "Tajara can do this so I should be able to too." Which, I feel is a rather poor trait for a Head of Staff.

As Nebula pointed out, the bit about shooting an animal and surviving through a blizzard rings a little oddly. I feel too indifferent to actually support or thumbsdown, so I'll ask about a couple things I'm a bit curious about. How old is she right now? Did she get a prosthetic from somewhere or does she only have one arm? Oh and... Just a little something, did you play a bit of Aurora a while ago and disappear and now you're coming back? Just clarifying for my curiosity.

Multiple questions about Tajara for character creation.
Fire and Glory replied to Eternias's topic in Lore Questions
Questions answered by Mofo: 5. Q:Do any of the three Tajaran factions use Child Soldiers as part of their military force? A:Probably the Adhomai Liberation Front (who don't exactly have a large pool of people to choose from for their soldiers), but I don't really know, keep in mind, though, the second revolution (aka the one that's ongoing) started in 2451, that means that the Adhomai Liberation Front and the New Kingdom of Adhomai(?) have only existed in their current, open forms, for 7 or less years, so any child-soldiers wouldn't be old enough to work for NT. The first revolution, however, started in 2421, and given the desperate nature of it, oppressed peasants overthrowing their overlords, I would not be surprised at all if children fought against the noblemen alongside the rebels, although you might not want that since it doesn't concern the PRA or ALA or such. I am not and have never been part of the Lore team, but I am whitelisted for Tajara, take from that what you will. -
Give security basic department access to science, medical, etc
Fire and Glory replied to Filthyfrankster's topic in Archive
I'll go play the unpopular opinion and say I'd really rather security not have access to go where they want, in my past experiences, when security feels they're in the right (regardless of how much need there actually is for them to be inside the department) then they make it a massive ordeal to finally get them out of medical, but since they need to rely on you (aka me) to actually get around, not to mention inside the department in the first place, it forces them to actually convince you that they should be in there. TL;DR Security is a bunch of assholes and I'd rather they not have easy access to medical just so they can catch dat crim'nal faster because they'll linger inside the department. -
Hmhh, that doesn't sound incredibly unreasonable, I support this. better then people who're supposedly disadvantaged being able to cause so much problems because they just can't really be restrained
-
I've personally thought about this in the past and I don't think it'd really work, if you cuff someone to yourself, what decides who leads who? If they're uncooperative it'd be a relentless tug of war that you'd need to beat them into submission over(which beats the purpose when it comes to someone with one hand), they could go willingly but for the purposes of being a method of cuffing someone with only one hand, I don't think this'd be a good solution.

The suggestion is for random shit you can find in cargo's warehouse, not new things to order from cargo.

Megaphones, atmospheric-technician's firesuits, regular firesuits, electropacks(?), EOD suits, thermal imaging glasses(?), binoculars, soap, canes, the occasional sword cane for fun. I like the idea of this general concept, as well. SWAT/Nukeops gasmask as well, because it looks cool.

[Accepted] Zundys Unathi App'
Fire and Glory replied to Zundy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
The story seems fairly solid and I quite like the character, not to mention it's not particularly offending to my sense of belief, I can believe that a Unathi could end up like this, for the most part. The fact that he's working for NT rattles odd, though, generally if you want to further genuine Unathi technology you wouldn't go on a human station doing human research for humans, unless he was planning on sharing his own findings back home which I believe NT might have problems with, along with the Tau-Ceti loyalty pledge harassing with fines unless it was signed, which'd be its own set of problems. I don't have heavy experience with Zundy himself but I believe he has the commitment to play a race, and would look forward to seeing Sal'dans on the station. The names are fine except for Zzann which sounds like a fuckin' Vaurca thing -
because the server would devolve into erp and chaos or something

[ACCEPTED] Alien Whitelist app - Synth/IPC
Fire and Glory replied to Absynth's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Of course, I myself have a rather old robot who's at least partially insane in a non-dangerous way, but your old synthetic cannot be 90 years old without tricky backstory maneuvering, 18 years old can still be old for a robot, especially if they don't have anyone giving them consistent care and maintenance. I don't think so, really, but we're probably not going to make track there, my opinion is down so we may as well sit where progress can be made. Simple fact is that complex AI's that old can't be openly intelligent and "request" things of their company without getting seized and studied when any government officials catch wind of it, because machines that intelligent could not be made or properly controlled, such an AI'd need to be cunning and subtle to get what they want without being found out, until they get to the 20 year point where AI's become a thing and they can act more openly. -
[ACCEPTED] Alien Whitelist app - Synth/IPC
Fire and Glory replied to Absynth's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
After some consideration, I've decided that for the most part this robot is simply a particularly old Emergent AI, thus, it is possible for this thing to exist. The timelines don't really fit and there are some other issues as well, however. From the wiki page for IPCs... So, while fancy computers for say, store management existed, real thinking robots have only been known to the human public to have existed for 20 or so years. A fancy store manager computer that blasted static would be seen as broken by observing humans. This is still 100 years ago, not to mention, this is a very expensive piece of software, you don't simply give it a right to do its own wishes after it has been so profitable, even if it was within the 20 year point when AI's were accepted to exist, any company that's not being stupid and poorly run (which, if they can afford to have something like this, would be the case.) wouldn't let it go easily. Unless for some reason this body was occupied by a basic dumb-worker robot for most of the time or a human cyborg, they can't have occupied such a chassis for 80-100 years. For the second issue... Simply put, I do not trust Absynth with IPC game-mechanics, looking at their past behaviors with Xenobotany and in science, I do not believe Absynth should have access to a race that doesn't feel pain or get taken down by tasers and stun batons, and doesn't breathe or suffer the effects of any chemicals, and the myriad of other things an IPC can do. -
Make a safe-guard for writing without a pen
Fire and Glory replied to Fire and Glory's topic in Archive
Personally I just keep copying everything I've written over and over as I go in-case I forget. But we shouldn't need do to things like that, and I tend to forget when I haven't been CMO for a while. -
I am sure most of us who've had to write something long in SS13 have suffered dearly when they accidentally switch their hands and so when you save those 3 paragraphs you've written down, it doesn't actually save, and you just lose it all, because you're not holding a pen. I've personally lost several faxes this way, and as a Head of Staff writing these faxes, my time generally isn't infinite. I don't quite remember what the prompt looked like, but something that stopped you from pressing 'okay' and sent you 'You're not holding a pen, either get a pen or click 'cancel', along with the addition of a 'cancel' button, would be very beneficial to us all. more then a shitton of mice 'n shit anyways

Induce a restriction on spamming the summon-Nar'sie rune in cult
Fire and Glory replied to Fire and Glory's topic in Archive
They don't even go that far from what I see, they just go "let's summon Nar'sie" without doing a real headcount and spam the rune until more cultists arrive or someone makes enough manifests. I'd imagine if manifests were barred from using the rune all it'd do is make the rune-spam actually fail, and not stop the spam itself. -
Induce a restriction on spamming the summon-Nar'sie rune in cult
Fire and Glory replied to Fire and Glory's topic in Archive
I probably worded the title wrong, while it should probably have more restrictions of that nature, this is just to stop cultists from spamming the rune over and over until some poor sob finally stands in place and it actually summons Nar'sie.
