IPC Species Maintainer - Niennab
geeves replied to niennab's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Your application is fantastic, your OOC conduct is fantastic. I've not seen your writing yet, but I believe you are destined for great things. +1 Just a few questions from my side, just for curiosity's sake. 1) Will you participate more on the main Aurora discord, as well as the IPC specific one? Interacting with the playerbase you're writing for is vital. It's also incredibly useful. I've given people prompts for stuff I want to write, and they write it for me via their thoughts and suggestions. 2) Do you agree with the IPC Mechanic Rework that Kyres started? Will you allow it to be continued to work on if you get accepted? https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/6296 -
Changelog updated.

Oh right, good catch. There is a debate over that, but, nothing's swaying me to believe that remote electrification is in any way good. It can probably be added in the future as a malf ability. Wouldn't you just turn off bolt lights, then bolt the airlock, circumventing the point entirely?

https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/7188 Gib feedback.

Changelog for the above PR. * Remotely bolting an airlock is no longer instant, taking THREE seconds to finish. The airlock announces when this process begins. * Airlocks can no longer be remotely electrified. * Forcefields can no longer be machine overloaded.

I really like the application. It shows a side of shells that some people do not. There exists more to IPCs that sexy dollbots. I like the name as well, but that's more uh, subjective. Anyway. I was there when Naim played their first characters. It was a bit shaky, and I was one of those that offered them some assistance. From what I can see, they've improved a TON, from basic LRP to what I can safely say: really entertaining HRP. The improvement is remarkable. If it was a few months ago, I'd've had to -1 them, but today? They deserve a +1. They'll be able to play this character really well, as well as any future IPC they try to make. If not, I'll collect their skull myself. +1

Ehh, I don't want to tweak the colours too much. With how little entertainment is used, I think this set-up is fine as is. ? Sure! Any colour suggestions?

Also, to the people I'm not replying to, believe me, your opinion is being taken into account.

Most of this is rulebreaking behaviour.

I haven't tested it yet, but I believe it simply doesn't run anymore. Yeah, that's the problem. One thing I thought of, was instead making a cyborg turn malf, and giving THEM the malf abilities. They'll be then able to hack other cyborgs and do malfy things. Food for thought.

1) Personally, I think the AI is a detriment to the round. Sure, there are very good AIs, such as Harmony, Arlo, APEX, Aboshehab. But, there are also many, MANY shitty ones. As an AI, you have to purposefully play "badly" to give antags leeway, to make a good round. I think that sucks for game design. So, making it not appear, or making it a "later in the round" thing, would alleviate that. 2) With the removal of the AI, there's a bit of a void in access and synthetic assistance. The addition of another borg fills that void, and makes the station feel a bit more autonomous. That's my personal opinion, and I don't feel very strongly about it, so any other good opinion will sway me.

https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/7183 This PR removes the ability for an AI to spawn at roundstart. It also adds another cyborg spawn to compensate. What I want to know is, and I really want you guys to answer BOTH of these honestly. 1) Do you agree with removing the AI roundstart? It's still possible to build the core and put an active brain in it later on, with qualified personnel. 2) The additional cyborg spawn. I heard complaints that three cyborgs at roundstart is one too many. Please let me know what you think.

remember to test merge the present state of these changes

Before: After: No, the yellowish for entertainment is on purpose. It's how it appears on the radio select menu.

I'm tweaking radio colours to be easier to distinguish from eachother. (As well as making admin channels easier to see.) https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/7176 Yes, no, maybe? I'd like to hear your thoughts on what I did and what it looks like.

Vomit Rangefinders: The PR: The Feedback Thread

I'm shying away from actual reagent containers for this exact reason. We do not need to simulate bodily fluids beyond blood. EDIT: Yet. -

stop sweeping maintenance the second the round starts
geeves replied to Butterrobber202's topic in General
Carps and blobs do not canonly occur as often as they do. As a blob can destroy a large chunk of a station. Carp swarms happen far less often than they actually happen. The rates are just tuned higher to make gameplay fun. -
You vomit into a disposal bin, sink or toilet if you're next to it, instead of the floor. Give feedback. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/7142

MattAtlas' Developer Application 2 (Coder)
geeves replied to MattAtlas's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Matt's great. I've been co-oping on him on a ton of projects. The DESTROYS DISARMING pr I made is partially thanks to him, when we brainstormed a solution together. I'm also working with him on the new spicy secret stuff we're cranking out, and I can only say that it's been delightful thus far. He synergizes well with a team, and clearly has experience. The only downside of course is that he's a fake italian, so we'll have to deny him for this reason. +1, with pasta.
