It's this mindset which is pretty much my issue, it's striving to play the most efficiently time after time. The reason things go unused is because people don't tend to try and fight against someone that has everything. It leads to a stalemate which either leads to the entire station dying, the entire station pitching in to nuke the antagonist, or literally nothing happening. There's no in-between. Perhaps it's sportsmanship, perhaps it's for the other people's enjoyment. While I'm sure it's fun to be the antagonist in this situation, or the friend of this antagonist, I have found myself on the side of this as non-security, and found it incredibly dull. There's no means to deal with it, so you just have to go with the inane. Others have felt this way as well, and I'd be happy if they pitched in, as Schev has pitched in for the other side. The issue is never with the equipment, but how they're being used. Why has no one I've seen before stocked up to a level of this ridiculousness? There is no point in removing good equipment. Often, the reason there is good equipment is so that many of the players in the round can have one of each, for fun, no? I'd rather not. I don't trust your judgement regarding anything pertaining to Aurora. How? No? Why hasn't anyone else operated like this and gained the reputation Naelynn has? Yes. There are many ways that doesn't involve maximum efficiency and gear to achieve this. I could possibly bomb Red Dock and the Central Ring, that'd generate conflict, but would it be good? If I remember correctly, the specific round I reported only had a single detective. Though, this complaint isn't simply about the single round, but the repeated behaviour over a long period of time. Food for thought, though. Per the Rules section in-game, on how to play an antagonist: Try to do things which will be fun for others, not only yourself. No, and that's a positive. EDIT: after a brief discussion, it would appear that the person who took the complaint is here to stay. i encourage people with things to contribute to post here as well.

Aticius' Lizardhead Application do not steal
geeves replied to Aticius's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Having been a component of this application, as you've discussed many of the facets of Unathi lore with me to be sure you got it right, I'm convinced that you're in tip top shape to play an Unathi. Your lack of characters don't concern me, your reputation from previous servers precedes you. The feedback was all good. The application, as well, is using the new lore I wrote, and makes masterful work thereof, I am extremely happy about this. Application Accepted, now I just need to get the Unathi maintainer to give you the whitelist. It should be done by the time you wake up. (maybe a bit later, cursed perms) -
make it spawn randomly in one of a few defined places, and only the captain knows where, ehehehehehe

BYOND Key: Geeves Game ID: b4f-cwPm Player Byond Key/Character name: Naelynn Staff involved: N/A Reason for complaint: Powergaming as Antag Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? No, the round was in progress, and this is an issue far greater than a single round. Approximate Date/Time: 16 November 2019, 07:55 PM GMT+2 The person I'm lodging the complaint against seemingly has a repeated issue with powergamey behaviour. I say it's powergamey, because it skims juuuuuust below a level that would be unacceptable. In the round example given, the Wizard rushed the spare ID, the captain's voidsuit which they took for themselves, stole all the station voidsuits, stole all the contents of the armory, then crushed it in disposals. Their reasoning (this was ICly, so take it with a grain of salt.), was that, if no one had guns, and no one had voidsuits, no one would try and do something harmful. Well, that's the problem, isn't it? And it didn't just happen in this round. They have a tendency to roll antag merchant, and stock up on the most powerful gear they can get their hands on, just so that they aren't threatened in any way. From what I can see, it's an attempt to railroad gimmicks, to prevent other players from doing anything that might throw a wrench into their plans. I suppose, if it were to happen in a single round, as a raider gimmick perhaps, it'd work out great, but yet again, this is behaviour that keeps occurring. Screenies: Space Wizard (Reported Round): Antag Merchant: Unsure: Antag Merchant: Note: The above screenshots are of different rounds, taken across I think a month or two.

I support removing this feature, it turns a telescience accident into a buggy mess. Teleporting is already criminally underused, and being able to be yeeted out of a round due to RNG isn't fun in the slightest. Not only that, but it doesn't make any sense to me at all. Merge bluespace echoes with the meme gametype or something.

My only concern with allowing it to be an ahelp exception, is that: 1) That'd lead to antags with on-station gimmicks having to ahelp and deal with admins, which might take even longer. 2) Admins to make a call on a character for a gimmick they might not even know. 3) Every single time that on-station character antag would show up and do stuff to a new person, that person would ahelp because it's against the rule, can't expect the administration team to keep an eye on that all the time, right? I'm behind making it a hard rule, and making it an exception for events only.

[Denied] James View's Command Whitelist Application
geeves replied to HighAdmiral's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I would like to preface this feedback by making a comment on the prior feedback, as a Chief Engineer main. The idea that a Head of Staff should know everything about their department is wrong. Heads of Staff are managers first and foremost, they simply manage the department. Each Head of Staff should have a speciality. Ioraks, for example, sucks at Atmos, Rcon, and non-basic phoron SM set-ups. A know-it-all head of staff is simply powergaming, and stealing the show from his department. Now, onto my feedback for you. I like you, I've seen you do some cool stuff as Joon. My only concern is how often you SSD, and the mentions of you being salty OOCly. I understand that life happens, so that's minor, and that salt can be curbed and not spewed onto the server, I trust you to do that. I think, if you can figure out how to control these negatives, and focus on your positives (making Joon a CE that specializes in SM set-ups), you'll do great. A passive +1 from me, I see potential. -

[Accepted] Shenaanigans' Lizard Application
geeves replied to Shenaanigans's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Fantastic answers and an even more fantastic backstory. One of the better Guwan applications out there. It gives an excellent idea of what it's like to be both a woman and a guwan under Hegemony influence. +1 on the merit of a great application. I have also seen your gardener in-game, and gleaned a surprising amount of good RP from a role I did not expect to get RP from. So, that is definitely a +1 from the roleplay department. Overall? I'd say this is pretty solid. -
Removing Immersion-Breaking numerical designations
geeves replied to Kaed's topic in Discontinued Projects
I think I can do it, but yeah, good call on making the PR atomic. -
Removing Immersion-Breaking numerical designations

I kinda think it'd be cool if you could like, get a laser painter that allows you to burn/tag stuff from a distance. It'd allow scientists to tag hazardous stuff from a distance. Can be emagged to deal burn and gain the ability to target humans as well. -
Who does "you" refer to here? And yeah, lmfao, ERT might be the best (only) bet. EDIT: gotchu.

I'd like to note, stocking up on the highest of end gear as an antag every single round is awful. What do you do against this? Even if this antag doesn't murderbone, the sheer threat of their presence shoehorns any interaction into something they want, making it giga-unfun for everyone that isn't the antag. Play for fun (of everyone), not to win, is my philosophy.

[Denied] AmoryBlaine - Moderator application
geeves replied to AmoryBlaine's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
You were awful to me, my friends, and the rest of my team. After I tried to comfort you after one of your outbreaks, you just brushed me off. Then you did it again. And again, and again. The fact that you're still on Aurora astounds me, and that you have the gall to apply for moderator with the attitude you have blows my mind. I like you when you're normal, man. I really do. I just think you need to get some help. But not here. Not after the shit you pulled. -

Changing the Station Engineer job to Maintenance Technician
geeves replied to MattAtlas's topic in Discontinued Projects
No need to post this, it is incredibly rude. You should be ashamed. This is rude and degrading. This PR takes all of two seconds to do. Do not post if you have no constructive feedback. Now, personally, I don't mind the name much. The name "station engineer" never really did make sense to me. Station Technician seems fine. Idk if something like "Engineering Technician" makes sense? Could, maybe. -
Isn't that best left to people who are actually playing the round?

Why would maintenance drones fight hivebots?

Didn't find the sprite, but implemented my own anyway. It spawns in the bible once you use "Set Religion" on it and choose a Christian variant.
