Allow you to drink while wearing scarves.
Gangstafary replied to Gangstafary's topic in Completed Projects
The item I have the issue with is the pioneer's scarf. -
Basically the title is self-explanatory: make it so you can drink while wearing scarves. It wouldn't mean much and it's a qol stuff. Also, you can drink with a breath mask so why not with a scarf. Alternatively add a "lower scarf" verb which would allow to do this.

Well, QM's usually working, delivering and whatnot. Guns shouldn't be able to be requested by any cargo tech, I agree on that it's obvious. Excessive skill knowledge can be ahelped. KAs shouldn't be used as a weapon unless someone's antag, in which case it's a really poor weapon choice. Either way it's ahelpable. If I understand this well, the suggestion is not about removing a department (Cargo) but about removing an attitude (Cargonia), which is pretty much already ahelpable and contemplated under the rules, minus the weapons part in which I agree.

Honestly I would just ditch slimes away or just keep one and fill the rest of the pens with different xenofauna. I'd rather xenobiology to be more RP-focused than trying to produce something out of a slime core, that seems to me as a forced utility in a desperate intent to make it attractive. Have in mind xenobotany can produce really useful stuff and yet the xenobotanist will have to go out of their way to hand prototypes to other crew, they won't come to ask them for it, and xenobiology is in a worse state related to that, as we all know the general condition of science sublevel

Totally supporting. I only used the silent barefoot steps one and I don't even remember why. You can't really escape anything within the hallways by going barefoot, and in maint you can but have the floor usually riddled with glass shard so it actually has its ups and downs.

I enjoy xenobotanics. I don't see it unupdated: as most, I would suggest some minor changes like mutant fruit now showing named as "mutant x" unless it's obvious (for example, a changed appeareance gene) and in fact, mechanically-wise, I consider it one of the most well polished roles. I don't want to sound rough at all, but the "antags spamming teleporting stinging vine spore gas cyanide peanuts" is a reductio ad absurdum which isn't really on par with a well-formed argument. Moreover, the "shatters immersion" is really relative. First, cause we have some tropes that allow us to contemplate it as "not-immersion-breaking", such as the "it's bluespace I ain't gotta explain shit" which is also a fundamental part to slimes, xenobio golems and many other "gimmicks" that can involve wizard rounds or the sole fact that the Romanovich Cloud is an anomalous zone. All this is already used as a pretext to justify weird wild stuff, and wether it's liked or not is another discussion. That being said, bluespace stuff could have some tweaks. It's not really making sense that bluespace anomalies are a genetic stuff. If it was only achievable by mutation and somatic (hence, not transferrible), I wouldn't mind that.

[Player Complaint]Some AI player
Gangstafary replied to Gangstafary's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I never mentioned the strike in discord before you did. They insulted me, you saw it. You then explained an admin that we were insulting and arguing and I clarified that I hadn't insulted anyone, but they did to me, and you acknowledged that. Indeed you do not deny that Aimless is at fault for what happened in discord, and as I say in my final line on the opening thread, I only intend for this to reach a simple talk with the user as for their attittude, nothing more. -
[Player Complaint]Some AI player
Gangstafary replied to Gangstafary's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Not quite true, actually. You just quoted me but not until the end. Yes, I explain exactly that same things, as I quote myself now: "Turns out someone was complaining exactly about "how they ruined the antag gimmick" in OOC at the round end and the user thought it was me, yet after I clarified, again via Discord, that it wasn't me, their passive-aggressiveness continued if not only turned into worst. Basically they kept acting as if they were a victim and I'm a guilty bad player. Like I hadn't made them a favour when agreeing to their terms instead of legitly just telling them to abide by their laws or either way not play AI. They even went onto the extent of insulting me." So yes, I acknowledged that he was confusing me with other user, yet after I clarified I wasn't, their inflamatoriness didn't stop, and kept onto the extent where they insulted me, as you yourself acknowledged via Discord. This PC is not about us receiving a strike on Discord, but about a continued bad attitude from this player towards me while, as you can attest too Borya, I had no issue with their ahelp. We tried to crop the law onto something they could deal with until we finally decided to omit it (as I did ICly). As I state, after they noticed I'm not the user who were complaining at round end, I'd have expected an apology, though what ensued were insults. Do not confuse this with a complaint for not following AI laws. That was totally fine by me and I ended that round happily and then went for lunch. It is for bad behaviour and attitude via discord, even more since I was totally cool with their requests. -
BYOND Key: (This is your Byond Login/Ckey) Gangstafary Game ID: (If applicable. Game ID of the round on which the incident took place. If you don't remember the exact one, then the round after or the round before works as well.) b49-bNrd Player Byond Key/Character name: (This is the Byond Login/Ckey or the character name of the player you are complaining. If you do not have it, we'll only provide it when the complaint is posted.) I don't know. Their discord username is aimlessAnalyst #4977 , they played as an AI in that round. Staff involved: (This is if the complaint was ahelped and if it was handled by a staff member) Borya attended their ahelp and then opened a ticket for me. Reason for complaint: (State your reason for your complaint) Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? (Yes or no, then an explanation for why not, if applicable.) No, it was the AI player who ahelped it. Borya dealt with it. So, I want to be clear and concise cause I didn't really wanna do this but I can't stand when my benevolence is mocked, so if all this can be clear in a single or a few posts without revolving much around it, the better. I was Fatima Tadhhab, Roboticist and traitor. As it's usual on me with this character, I go with some AI-subverting, synthetics-based gimmick. I usually just do it to help me further other goals so I usually add a "Obey X" or "X is the highest-ranking crewmember". I, however, this time decided to be innovative and not with those boring laws, so I worded a law for the AI to run a "Reality Show" broadcasted to the extranet and have nominations running, where the ones nominated to abandon the reality game were to "die" (they weren't even a malf AI to have such powers but the idea is understood). Soon after, Borya opens a ticket for me, asking if I had some spare time to talk. I said "sure". So, seems like the AI player ahelped that they really didn't know what to do with what I gave them, or that outright they didn't like it (some of its cyborgs seemed to do though) so Borya wanted to know if we could reach a middle-ground which was fun and engaging for everyone. I was all in for it, and either way, security came to my lab asking me if I could reset the AI, and wanting to keep my cover, I complied. I told Borya that yes, although some cyborgs were enjoying the gimmick and participating in it. Overall they felt as if I was pushing a lot of a gimmick on their side, which even if I share that attitude, it's a thing they should accept as one of the things that can happen when you play as an AI. However, I was cool, I was lenient and in good sportmanship I didn't mind it and was in for the fun of everyone, so I told Borya that there were no need to adminly revert it since ICly I was about to get in the core with the HoS as to reset the AI. So far, so good. The AI is reset, I play the rest of the round happily, the round ends and I leave for lunch. It is then when in Discord I find the aforementioned user mocking by alternating caps something on the lines of "oH I sUbVeRtEd AI to CaRrY gImMiCk fOr Me" (not literal, but you can get the picture), which surprises me seeing how I had no problem on giving on that (totally willing, since laws are laws and I could have not) and was all in for everyone to have fun, and the AI subvertion lasted quite little. Turns out someone was complaining exactly about "how they ruined the antag gimmick" in OOC at the round end and the user thought it was me, yet after I clarified, again via Discord, that it wasn't me, their passive-aggressiveness continued if not only turned into worst. Basically they kept acting as if they were a victim and I'm a guilty bad player. Like I hadn't made them a favour when agreeing to their terms instead of legitly just telling them to abide by their laws or either way not play AI. They even went onto the extent of insulting me. So, now all is told, I'd like to finish with a final statement: This is the first player complaint I've ever made in something more than half a year of regularly playing here virtually a round every day, never filed an IR either. I've had issues, as everyone else has had, but never considered it was worth my time for a PC or IR respectively. However, I don't like my benevolence and good sportmanship being mocked and despised like that at all. Like a reasonable person, once I clarified this user that the one bitching in OOC at round-end wasn't me, I'd have expected something on the lines on "oh ok sorry thought it was you. Thanks for being approachable in my ahelp and being lenient for the fun of everyone", yet it was totally the opposite. So, rather than growing a bitter attitude with virtually everyone and the next time something like this happens, instead of telling them to deal with it and abide to the laws, I'd rather to keep my good manners, good sportmanship and a good "spirit of the law" where the fun is above everything else, I'd prefer for the staff to have a talk with this player to make sure he keeps a positive attitude towards the rest, specially those who have been good with them. Approximate Date/Time: (The date and time of the incident. Date is more important but both are helpful) 10/01/2020. The round ended at 14:12 pm GMT+1, although the real incident, that being their bad behaviour took place on Discord at around 15:00 pm GMT+1

Absolutely not. It's already dumb that you can get your chest bruised by a candy bar or a labcoat. Cans, however, I wouldn't mind.
-
Not supporting. We already have some people getting out of their way to MG the roundtype and whatnot at the first message or sign of a gimmick, imagine if you made some hairstyles antag-only.
-
Not supporting. The actual functionality of the vending machine to throw up things allow for some obscure antaggery mechanics, and then directly going to the event leading to vending machines doing that on their own can help you get free food or to access some stuff you wouldn't be able without it. Also, contrary to what the OP suggests, you don't need to know which wire is related to the red wire. Just cut and mend them all (with insulateds, for the love of god) or just have an engineer who's bored have something to do for five minutes.
-
Rather, I'd say make it both. If you're laying down cause you were stunned, yes: have the things on your hand drop and all that. If you're laying down cause you buckled yourself to a bed or used the rest verb, allow you to handle items and use them. So, ideally, you can willingly lay down and have something in hand, but suddenly someone prods you with a stunbaton and switch to stunned mode, dropping what you have in hand.

Right now, at roundstart, all the six cells in the brig has their communal door closed shut. If there's no warden, maybe the officers won't even bother to ask the AI, so my suggestion is simple: Make 3 of the 6 cells come with the communal access opened and the others 3 closed.
-
Supporting, mental trauma barely has a chance of happening, and being trauma or not, the amnesia message gets old and boring really fast.
-
^Supporting, although I wouldn't mind for the "useless" settings to take some actual complexity so it can get a thing where you can know how to set them up or you can know that + additional setup for non-standard situations.
-
Right now, best solution is to physically walk/move to the above level and fix it from there. That's the best and fastest way to solve it. Although this is BurgerBB suggestion, and then it's their word to specify on what, I suggest that when you press Z with steel on hand, a two-options menu shows, giving you the choice to build on-spot or to build over-spot. Then, after deciding between those two, the regular construction menu would show.

The first stage of visible hunger should have no penalties
Gangstafary replied to BurgerBB's topic in Archive
Supporting this. In addition, the hunger system seems to be really random. Sometimes you'll barely have the first stage notification pop up at around 1:30 and other times you have it since roundstart. As I don't either want food to be overlooked, which would render some roles besides the debuffs pretty much harmless and useless, I suggest that the first stage doesn't slowdown you, but the second stage will and will get to that stage faster than usual, so you still receive the notification before suffering the debuff but it still is something to worry about. -
Supporting, as I don't see how this can't be useful and cool to have.

I mean, robotics can print the lathes board and build their own with a little help.

Removing Malfunctioning AI as a Gamemode
Gangstafary replied to geeves's topic in Completed Projects
Like ben said, if you take it out of secret, then rather than occasional bad malf AI rounds, you will have every malf AI round full of people MGing that it's malf, which is way worse. -
This would backfire quickly when you need a door opened by the AI, either cause they can't find you or won't bother to look around looking for you now they can't fastly do that. As an usual AI player, tracking is what makes you able to be present, assisting at around 3 places at the same time. Without tracking that'll be reduced to 1, which in tension moments will end the AI being able to heroically save the day. Not necessarily wrong, as an AI you must overall let players do thing themselves and you shouldn't chastise yourself for not being able to be everywhere. Again, while overall I don't mind, people is going to be pissed at some totally-non-validhunting issues this is going to cause, both non-antags AI players and crew.

I understand your point, but let me reverse the question: What does deleting changeling do to change?
