BYOND Key: Nursiekitty Character name: Shiur'izzi Xerius Item name: Tote bag Why is your character carrying said item to work? It's just a no-fuss, non-assuming little burlap bag - she's a little more comfortable using it than she is the standardized..baggery, uh, bags. Item function(s): it is a bag. it carries things Item description: A sackcloth bag with an image of Moghes printed onto it. Floating above the planet are the words "Save Moghes!" Item appearance: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? Shiur is a sentimental (somewhat) older woman. There was a stall at the shuttleport selling little goods like this and donated the proceeds to Moghean revival projects and charities. It was hard for her to say no to such an important cause - even if she is Ouerean. Also she wears a lot of brown. Additional comments: sprited for me by allybearsley. ty ally ily

[Declined] nursie's (synth) lore deputy app
witchbells replied to witchbells's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I don't hate synthetics. I have maybe one or two characters that treat synthetics worse than they would other sapients, but I feel like that's largely irrelevant. I do think it takes someone with a mind for the very abstract to make synthetic characters interesting. I think synthetics have the potential to be much more than we've written for them. There's always humming and ho-ing over what synthetics can be or can be capable of. My goal isn't to clarify these questions, but expand what we consider "synthetic" in our lore, and I want them to be thought of as more than bipedal, human-like robots. -
Ckey/BYOND Username: Nursiekitty Position Being Applied For: Synthetic lore deputy. Past Experiences/Knowledge: I've worked closely with a few members of the lore team on various projects to expand their species' universe, from everything to basic biology to creatures, to cultural facets, in addition to providing numerous visual assets for the universe such as flags, news headers, and promotional art. I like to think I have a strength for writing what I call "theoretical biology" - I have a huge interest in all sorts of squishy, organic sciences that I think could produce wonderful things with someone with a mind for machinery. Examples of Past Work: My only significant works have been in application formats, such as Xrim and the Tul, in addition to a few other animals that I didn't formally apply in the forums, but were discussed with other lore team members in the discord. I feel safe saying that my writing and research capabilities have improved at least a little. I've also assisted some members of the lore team in writing concepts, but these are personal projects that I don't think I'm at liberty to share (namely, I took part in this with Cake and Loow, seperately.) Preferred Mode of Communication: Discord. I'm "pagan cat#8952" but since that changes on a dime, you can usually grab me by just @ing "cat" in staff chat. Additional Comments: Please don't hesitate to shove questions at me.

I would love this, especially with the super-fun-vacation-land-please-don't-go-into-abandoned-tunnels vibe I set up. Domed structures are probably the most reasonable option with researchers staying long-term despite hell or thunderstorm, and civilian domes could contain all sorts of buildings for a vacation-goer's enjoyment. Outside experiences are a must, I think, with our alien adventure island - guided tours, hiking, and with plenty of other activities to be enjoyed when storm season isn't around. I did mention there are some nice, safe, sandy coasts on Xrim. Loow
-
This is actually the time period I chose while writing it! Or, at least, I think the years I chose reflect that. This, however, it something else. I don't really know a lot about seasons or season cycles. My intentions for Xrim is that it was interesting because the planet has an abundance of rainforest, which are famous for their biodiversity of flora and fauna, even preserving some species that were presumed extinct. To keep these alive, I assume Xrim would still need to be a very temperate, humid planet year-round. If I have to change the numbers to suit this, I'm all willing. Loow

Type Planet Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): Circa 1592-1598 CE Region of Space: Xrim resides in the Skrellian frontier, among a small cluster of Federation space. Controlled by (if not a faction): Jargon Federation Other Snapshot information: I ran out of stuff to put here because I put so much in the long description. Xrim has two different "storm season" warnings, where it informs permanent residents and potential vacation-goers. In addition, some of Xrim's coasts are far from safe, sporting untarnished rockfaces and treacherous rock formations along the shores. Long Description: Xrim is a flourishing planet much like Qerrbalak, but unlike it, however, it sports thriving jungles and tropical rainforests in place of the hot, swampy marshes. The biome leads to an astonishing variety of unique species, and because of such, Xrim was colonized mainly by research efforts over a period of six years. The planet itself is dominated by ocean and spotted with sizable landmasses, with the largest of them being graced with mountain ranges. On some islands, the land elegantly rises from the coasts to form these in the center, while others are already high above sea level. The mountains and rockfaces contain a few natural cave networks, while some have been created and expanded upon by research teams. For two years, Xrim was a planet colonized only for the sake of scientific research, due to the strength and frequency of tropical storms that ravaged the coasts, however, thanks to the abundant presence of qeblaks on these research teams, it was soon discovered by these powerful storms were caused by abnormal atmospheric pressures, which were in-turn caused by the unique position that the planet's axis took for approximately 1.5 years - and was part of a 9 year cycle. This led the idea of colonization toowards much more lucrative avenues. Full colonization efforts began in 1595, with some areas being given "preserve" statuses, to keep the wildlife there untouched. Surprisingly, Xrim is very popular with tourists, both Skrell and non-Skrell. Many races enjoy leisurely hiking spots and safe beaches. There was a problem recently, however, where teenagers would sneak into old cave networks to explore and find abandoned research centers.

[Accepted] nursie's unathi app
witchbells replied to witchbells's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thanks for the compliment! The story intentionally focused on Shiur's family because family is one of Shiur's primary concerns, and it plays a large role in her origin. The sister character will not be present at this time and I have no plans to use her as an alt, (which doesn't stop her from being hired by NT) however, I believe Nanotrasen is and has been quoted as the largest sources of employment in Tau Ceti. Nanotrasen is a gargantuan brand which has their fingers in many pies, and their employees enjoy bountiful benefits with the low low price of signing a few NDAs. But in regards to the character again, Shiur is intended to be played as a very sentimental and empathetic character. She doesn't think of herself very often, and I think it might introduce some interesting character development down the road. -
How do you provide 'interesting RP' to a player you intend to kill?
witchbells replied to K0NFL1QT's topic in General
My general MO as an antag (however rare that anomaly is) is to be excessively theatrical. You can make any assassination or interaction fun if you just have it in your head to act like a supercriminal while you do it. -
BYOND Key:NursieKitty Character Names: Phoebe Essel, Garvan Harper, Oceoyl'Fedas Wruorv'hxeo, Alissa Kihrbusihr, Vincent Garcia, others. Species you are applying to play:Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Probably somewhere around a rusty brown and sandstone. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I mention aesthetic a whole lot during these applications, but I like what unathi have going. I have this preconception of unathi fashioning a lot of things from furs, hides, teeth, and horns. They're biting and kicking to survive in a biome that essentially wants them dead (which is, in my eyes, only partially their fault) and are making the best of it. They're building spacefaring vessels, making powerful allies, and trying to get their planet back on its feet (which I really really like as a development, by the way.) Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The one thing that the unathi have always had is more rigid standards in how they treat others. It's a significant faux pas not to give another Sinta the proper respect they deserve. And there's the whole Guwan thing who are expected to be the dregs of society, but on station, just end up being really really unlucky people with not a lot of choice. Character Name: Shiur'izzi Xerius Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Seewul Xerius was an old guildmaster, having vast control over the trade of textiles on Ouerea. He owned plots of land all over the planet from which fiber crops were grown and the plants where they were processed and weeved, but of all of this, the most valuable things in his life were his four children - Xerula, Shiur'izzi, Usalsul, and Athisis. Xerula and Shiur'izzi, respectively the eldest brother and sister, had the most responsibilities of the four. Xerula was a confident young man, poised to take his father's place in his empire, and Shiur'izzi was (mostly) complacent being around to care for her family and assist them where she could. Athisis had no such desires to follow any path that had been set out for her. It was alright that Athisis did not want to marry - this was not Moghes, they were not bound by such tired traditions. It was wonderful that Athisis wanted to pursue further education and travel Ouerea - there was a plethora of things that could be learned from travelling the world. It was less wonderful when Athisis professed that she would be travelling off-planet, and out of the system, to Biesel. He was far from comfortable with letting his youngest daughter travel on her own to a completely different world. And so he beseeched the eldest sister; Please, you must go with her. She is young, brash, and inexperienced - I want her to find her path, but she will not do it alone. What do you like about this character? I intend for her to be one of my more docile characters (we'll see how that goes, because the vast majority of my characters are about as docile as a hippopotamus) and as an unathi, I'll be able to have a more intimate relationship with culture than I think I could find in any other species. Even with humans, there is a bit of pressure not to be too attached to culture, as humans have crossed planets and melded together, and etcetera. She's also an older sister, which is not only something I empathize with, but..actually something I have yet to play. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm going to avoid this question until the sun pops. I rate myself highly, because it's me! I'm rating me! I understand that there is, and always will be areas of roleplay I can improve on. It's a neverending endeavor. I'm far more comfortable inviting others to rate me and give criticism, because I don't have enough faith in my self awareness to poke those holes in myself. Notes: now if you don't mind me i'm going to dive head-first into this void

“Subject #002, the second of his kind, in the cultivation experiments.” Phoebe set down the recorder on the stainless steel table beside her, and rolled it over to her patient with a foot. Said patient - if he could be called a patient in this situation - was strapped to what looked like a dentist’s chair, clad only in a patient’s gown, and surrounded by an array of machinery. An ECG monitor and a respirator sat untouched next to him, and there was an IV squirreling a brown substance into his arm. A bag was strapped to one of the bare legs, looking spectacularly useless at the moment. “The subject is still currently sleeping, thanks to the sedatives. It is..Five twenty four, AM.” She dragged over a swivel chair over to the patient and sat down, grabbing up a folder from the table. “The subject’s name is Peter McIntyre. Currently employed as..job history..Ah, missing both his hands, one full arm, and a leg. Smoker. Well, that’s unfortunate.” She tossed the folder on the table and stood back up, snapping on a pair of nitrile gloves, and stole a nefarious-looking mechanism from the table. She gently pried open the patient’s mouth and, lowering the mechanism, slipped a half-circle shaped disk between his lips. She adjusted it so that the device clamped securely around the man’s jaw, and turned the knobs on the side with a click, click, click, holding his mouth agape. She retrieved one more item. A small glass dish, containing a fluorescent yellow shrivelled something. She pried open the petri dish, took this, and dropped it into her subject’s open mouth. “Day one.”

No. Command whitelists are an OOC process for a reason, the same reasons we have a particular question in the application about OOC responsibilities. Command players have the ability to make or break an entire round, which goes to say that whether an applicant understands this or not is more important than creative freedom. That is why administration and moderation oversee this process, instead of CCIAA.

You know you can already do this, right? You just have to set the intercoms.

I was not who gave you the warning, so I will be justifying the ban made on my part. I was not involved disciplining your actions until thedococt's issue had been solved. Shortly after that happened, I witnessed you charging into a basketball court on Odin (where a visitor, an intern, and the changeling were playing basketball) and assaulting the changeling without hesitation or provocation, not attempting an arrest, but going straight to beating the changeling to a pulp. This is in line with a history of behavior I've noticed in your player notes, and behavior I've seen from you in round. Namely, a ridiculously quick escalation to violence from you. This behavior is consistent, recent, and frankly, you don't seem to be learning from these incidents, despite multiple warnings and one other ban. I feel that the most damning detail of this, however, is that this incident happened almost immediately after thedococt applied a warning to your account for an unreasonable escalation of violence against the changeling. To go and do the exact same thing after being given a warning for something is probably one of the worst conceivable ideas. In short, you received a warning for behavior that you have a history of. You continued with this behavior after the warning and received a ban.

Type: Animal Founding/Settlement Date: they are animals Region of Space: Originally only Moghes, have been transplanted to Ouerea. Controlled by (if not a faction): Distribution and cultivation is tightly controlled by the Hegemony. Other Snapshot information: what's up everyone i hate writing here's an animal Long Description: The tul are large, muscular, leathery creatures, about a head taller than your average unathi. They have sharp claws on each feet and the strange ribbed, flat teeth found on most herbivores. Their most striking feature, however, is tul's tusks. A large array of long, pointed tusks protrudes from the tul's skull and jaw. A human would say their movement can be compared to that of a cat - deliberate, pronounced movements, with very broad shoulderblades. They have a long flat tongue they use for putting food into their mouth - The array of tusks on their skull and jaw would make eating difficult otherwise. That said, tul are the most commonly poached animals due their tusks, which can be used in various luxuries, from jewelry, to cutlery, to pieces of ornamental weaponry. Sinta conservationalists look down upon the ownership of these items due to the black market surrounding them, but they are nonetheless sought after due to the beautiful ivory from the tusks. The use of tul as mounts and pack mules is somewhat less restricted, since conservationalists believe it preserves these animals. Owning these animals, however, is reserved for only the richest clans due to how tightly they are controlled, and is often only reserved for large events, such as parades or gatherings of the elite. Sometimes they can be found wandering the private gardens of the wealthy. The tul also have a few small myths surrounding them. According to some regional cultures, the tul cultivated the forests before the Sinta could walk on two feet, whereas some say they were responsible for raising the sun - sticking their long tusks into the ether and pulling it back up into the sky. Some of the oldest clans will have a tul displayed as the clan's insignia.

This is actually a really fun topic! As far as I know, most injections given in medical will be intramuscular injections. This is because intramuscular injections have no downsides aside from a slower delivery rate, and in comparison to intravenous injections, are far less hassle. The only exceptions would be vaccines (which require subcutaneous injections) and sedative medications. Sedatives will work through an intramuscular injection, but on most occasions, a sedative is something you will want working quickly, so an intravenous injection is used.

I disagree. If you WANT to play bartender - MAKE A BARTENDER. Why are 'you' taking up the Bartender slot as your professionally educated character, instead of letting an actual Bartender character take it? I like the idea that another presented of having a day-time limit of being able to jobhop until you lock in. Characters are not their jobs. They are characters. If someone wants to play as a bartender, and their character is qualified, they can do so. They are not "taking up the slot," by any means - if you have a character that is confined to a single slot job, you do so understanding that you will not always get that slot.

Sutures refer to stitches, not just closing a wound. The word you want is cauterize.

Adding a psychological check in the Cyborgification Release form.
witchbells replied to Dragonspare's topic in Archive
I'm utterly confused as to why this wasn't already set in stone, because it's how I've always seen it roleplayed. I absolutely support adding to the form that it actually requires a psychological evaluation regardless of how rarely it happens. -
