No. By choosing to play as a mouse, you are choosing to play as something that has even less rights than a drone. Anyone on the station is essentially free to kill you.

BYOND Key: Nursiekitty Character name: Kiara Branwen Item name: pocket altar Why is your character carrying said item to work? Even for a secular witch, practice is an integral part of their life. For a witch, an altar is the tools they use for their craft. Item function(s): It is a fluff item. Clicking on it in hand would open it/change the sprite. Item description: A black tin box with a symbol painted over it. It shimmers in the light. Item appearance: Just a little tin box that was hand-painted black and had a glittery little triple goddess symbol painted over that. Inside it's got a vial of herbs, a little bag of salt, some epoxy clay runes, a candle + match, a permanent marker and a tiny besom. Additional comments: spriting is hard holy shit i hate it closed, inert lil witch box THE BOX HAS BEEN ACTIVATED

Just rip Polaris' underwear system where the top and bottoms are selected separately instead of adding even more unnecessary snowflake code. Seconding this, along with the oodles of other stuff I'd love to straight up steal from polaris.

Our old one was seven days. It served its purpose well enough, and I'll vouch for our seven days once more.

wow it's even named after me

She's grown up in an area that's mostly tajara, and her own parents left Adhomai because of state it was in. It's safe to say she's probably known people that were drafted back and the civil war was somewhat like a shadow looming over her. She's a legal citizen on Biesel, but you can't help the fear. No. While I'm sure she had some human peers in her life, she's grown up in an area that was highly populated by Tajara, and that's the majority of what's shaped her. -
BYOND Key: NursieKitty Character Names: Phoebe Essel, Oceoyl'Fedas Wruorv'hxeo, Kazuo Kurosawa, some others. Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): A light brown hharar. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Aside from being fluffy wuffy cat people, tajara have this interesting universe surrounding them, not unlike fifties era Russia. While nowhere near as fun in real life, the theme of the overbearing, shady government definitely provides some interesting interactions and possibilities for tajara. I'm also used to playing far more liberal characters (such as phoebe "you can't be racist to humans" essel) and the more conservative nature of tajara will force me to stretch in a direction I haven't before, which I welcome. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajara have a moderate amount of fur and blubber more suitable to the fierce, freezing climate on Adhomai, which makes life a little bit more uncomfortable if they're anywhere else. There's also the language barrier and the education, while it's improved massively over the years, isn't up to human/skrell standards thanks to good ol' NT. Their government has also almost always been embroiled in some kind of civil war (and still is) which is fun for absolutely nobody. Character Name: Alissa Kihrbusihr Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs In 2442, a couple fled Adhomai with a litter of three in tow stating "to find work" as the reason they were immigrating to Biesel, while in truth, they were escaping the violent, tumultuous society Adhomai had once again become. They and their three kits settled down in a little place in Little Adhomai, trying to lessen the culture-shock on their kits and themselves by living with their people, but not with their government. Alissa was the runt of the litter. She and her siblings left Adhomai just a few years after they were born, and barely remember anything of it if they do at all now. They grew up in a cramped apartment, helping their family manage the market underneath it. Because of this, she and her siblings didn't have the opportunity to be diligent in regards to their studies, and college isn't an option - unless they earn the money themselves. What do you like about this character? She's an underdog working herself up from nothing. She immigrated to a different galaxy when she was very young, grew up a in a small space with her parents and two other kits, and more than likely have to deal with racist backlash from humans on Biesel. She's trying to grow up and spread her wings, find her own way, and it won't be easy for her. I also, admittedly, have a soft spot for young characters. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Others tend to rate me highly. I like trying new directions with roleplay, and going places I haven't gone before with it, which usually leads to a bit of cockiness on my side. I have experimented with a few things that didn't work out, but that's part of the fun. Notes: i am the nursie kitty

Why don't we just take the alcohol away from the bar and keep it?

I think you cut off the end of that section. Wow, that's embarrassing! Thanks for the heads up. -
BYOND Key: NursieKitty Character Names: Phoebe Essel, Kazuo Kurosawa, Kiara Branwen, Symphonia, some less important others. Species you are applying to play: Skrell. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Kinda like a dark sea foam, maybe. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Skrell are extremely scientific and intelligent, with scientists and the such becoming pop icons and get the same kind of recognition we give Kanye West (or at least that's the image in my head). Even their leader is a scientist, publishing dozens of his own theories, thesis, whichever. They also live way, way longer than humans thanks to their ridiculous biotech. The fact that skrell are amphibious and have issues eating meat provides a different take on survival and daily life compared to mister "i eat everything you put in front of me," the human. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, like said above, they place a lot of importance on intelligence, and what you can do with it verses how strong you are, or how wealthy you are. A vast majority have a deep-seated hatred or distrust for artificial intelligence, due to the first, second, and third incidents, not to mention the almighty Glorsh fucking Omega. I like to see them as a very practical, efficient people, as evidenced by how they tend to speak and how they conduct themselves. Character Name:Oceoyl'Fedas Wruorv'hxeo Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Born in 2162, Oceoyl was born in Fedas during the Glorsh Rebellion, some years after it was retaken by the skrell. As he grew, he learned to build and repair robotics and machinery, and tinkered with programming in solitary. When he reached adulthood, he decided to set out on his own - and come face to face with trouble. He reached a construct and was held up by shards of Glorsh-Omega, and upon revealing his background, was forced into labor constructing more eyes, ears, and hands for Glorsh, and was stuck doing so until the rebellion was over. When skrell freed themselves of Glorsh, he found that his best skills were - robotics and programming - were frowned upon by his peers. So he entered the bio-tech field, thinking it was the next best thing, to solve problems caused by the genophage, develop implants, prosthesis, and help his people leap leagues from where Glorsh had left them so that the skrell could flourish once more. Still, it wasn't his true passion and despite his history, his opinion of Glorsh differs greatly from other skrell. This, among other things, led to his permanent relocation to Tau Ceti in 2420, along with another skrell who worked with him and shared his views. What do you like about this character? He's been around and has had his hands in many types of science. He was enslaved, picked himself back up after the rebellion, and helped his people succeed despite his personal wishes. He's a bit of a contrarian regarding Glorsh-Omega, which is going to be wonderful because I am a glutton for character conflict, internal or external. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I don't like this question. What I will say is that my first reaction to "this type of character is shit, it's never been done well" is "okay, watch me do it well" which sounds incredibly egotistical when I actually write it out. I guess that means I rate myself highly. Notes: Special thanks to Mofo for his assistance, and Loow for lending me some HOT NEW SKRELL LORE.

I like this idea. Coffee vendors need to go. All hail the machines. We can expand a bit. Give it instant blends (which is just what we have in the vending machine) plus the new custom blends. Maybe a few tea recipes?
-
What if we removed coffee vendors and replaced them with coffee machines in each break room, the staff meeting room, one for each of the outposts?

But I like Aurora. If we just named the new station Borealis, we wouldn't have a thing where Borealis-bot is mentioned and there's a fun little moment of "haha i get it now." Also, Aurora is kind of what everything else is already named.

Garvunn drew a breath and stood from the table. He knew he would have to follow them, but it would be very hard not to arouse suspicion geared like he was, but he didn't have any time to make it easier. He weaves through the people to avoid the other nord's eyes, leaves his flagon on the bar, and watches the other two leave before he follows a few steps behind them.

Remove revolution and just replace it with rp rev.

The main issue was you, as a mechanically lawed synthetic, wanted to roleplay as a personal synthetic that belonged to a crewmember. Since you now seem to see the issue with that, I'm okay with having this lifted.

I don't think the vaurca's issue is a lore issue, aside from some select players roleplaying the race incorrectly, as stated previously in the thread. The old vaurca lore was wonderful. There was a lot of it, yes, but it was that extensive detail that made the race interesting, aside from the vast majority being heavily augmented and the various hive factions to choose from. I believe vaurca's issue stems from a race that was, through all intents and purposes, genuinely intended to be different from our other races - something that, apparently, was hard to actually accomplish in game. I made this with the help of a few people in discord who suggested mechanical improvements for the race. eyes - Eyes are compound now. Meaning, flashes suck for a vaurca, but they don't suck nearly as much. A flash will work on a vaurca with significantly less risk now, but multiple flashes will slowly chip away at its vision. A supercharged flash could certainly render a vaurca blind. antennae - The vaurca sprite already has antennae for the sake of having it. Lore-wise, it's already stated antennae are used for perception, communication, etc. I propose a headgear restriction in order to actually reflect how important antennae are in game, and perhaps an ability to mangle soft headgear to fit over/around the antennae. mandibles - They're mandibles. Maybe nerf them, because the whole rip and tear thing is kind of ridiculous right now. organic limbs - Vaurca's limbs are all mechanical, seemingly for no reason other than to somehow represent that they're an augmented race. I suggest making vaurca limbs fully organic, with a twist. Vaurca limbs/head/body will have a brute modifier to resist brute damage due to their insectoid caraspace, and lore should be changed to reflect that they do instead have caraspace. neural port - Despite the many ideas thrown around to make this do something, the important part for now is that it exists. That said, an electromagnetic pulse will probably have devestating consequences with a species who has a little device embedded into their cortex. breathing apparatus - Sedantis was a planet with minimal amounts of plasma in the air. The assumption is that vaurca are created with an artificial breathing apparatus in order to deal with their atmosphere. Mechanically, vaurca should have little to no trouble breathing in plasma. Again, an electromagnetic pulse will ruin everything and our poor vaurca will have no choice but to suffocate if the EMP to neural port didn't kill it first. four legs - My final suggestion is to make vaurca a quadrupedal species, along with giving them a large ant abdomen. There are many reasons for this, but most important I think that it breaks up the monotony of all races on station having two arms, two legs, and maybe a tail. It's a drastic deviation from the norm, and it gives off the impression that vaurca are truly an alien species, and their unique characteristics will actually earn the distrust, suspicions, and sometimes interest of the other sentient species. Mechanically, it is shit. Vaurca would now have a uniform restriction, and are only able to wear uniforms meant for their species or uniforms that were heavily modified (most likely with the bottom part simply chopped off) and very few suits. Shoes are definitely a negative unless, again, you have shoes meant for vaurca. Now, while this is a heavy consequence for vaurca, it makes sense. Vaurca are an extremely new species, and lorewise, didn't normally wear clothing until they met humans. Now, this is extremely long-winded, and it requires developer work, but I think this (along with a few whitelist reviews) is what we really need to make vaurca the race it was intended to be, and to make it enjoyable for players.

He listened to the group discussing the blade and set his flagon down, resting an arm on the table and trying to seem casual. He was tense, however, and was determined to get the information he needed and see if he could assist his companions.
-
Garvunn rolled his eyes at the idle banter, bringing his mead to his lips and taking a deep swig. He turned his attention to the subject of gold, and silently hoped his companions were faring better than he was.

I have so many issues with this post that I'm going to break it into parts for you. Firstly, the reasons you're using to using to justify not implementing this are entirely based on IC desires to keep someone restrained, and out of the round with no hope of being released unless someone else releases them, and defending this with IC reasoning such as "you wouldn't want criminals breaking out," and "you aren't supposed to be able to get out of strait jackets," regardless of the fact that people can and have. If you are bent on purposely making the game unenjoyable for people who break IC regulations, I don't agree with you, but let me tell you about powergaming. Read the above paragraph. Notice that it does not just apply to antags, and that it is not about winning or losing the game, and any claims to the contrary would contradict what staff have been telling people and telling people since day one, that antags are here to contribute to the round and create roleplay for everyone, not focus on winning the game. I don't know what much else to tell you in regards to your thoughts on brig treatment other than some of these phrases such as "making the experience more bearable" and "using logical means to remove the problem. " make it seem like you believe these players don't deserve to enjoy themselves at all because they chose to play antag and, in your view, disrupt the round. You're giving off that impression I discussed a moment ago. Saying someone's "character deserves what they get" because they played antag, made some trouble, and are now sitting in isolation, strait jacketed with no interaction for the rest of the round unless someone decides to show some mercy? I don't see the appeal. "Accidental" being the key word here, I see. No, using lethal force when it isn't necessary will get someone to put the boots to you, either OOCly or ICly. Yes, within reason. But I don't at all see that as a justification to purposefully make their round as an antag unenjoyable.
-
They actually can be escaped by the average person, it just requires some strenuous maneuvers, and/or the dislocation of one or two joints.
-
Straight jackets have needed a nerf for a long time, coming from one of the many people who have spent an entire round neglected in one.

Let's start with number one. You were not told that you could not react violently at all, you were told that you should not react with murder, as evidenced in the logs you posted. While dealing with your issue I was informed by offline staff that depending on the conflict, it could have escalated to one of you killing the other, but I am still a trial moderator and not at all comfortable with making that call yet. Furthermore, the issue of your character being a drone only came up once you had told me. This is an issue because bound vaurca, as staff have stated above, aren't capable of "complex thought processes," likely including the concept of revenge. I had a question forwarded to lore chat when the round had ended since the vaurca lore master has been busy with Real Life. The decision I made to jobban you from xenobiology was made when other staff were present, and I asked if it would be suitable. It was agreed upon and actually applied by an admin, because I don't have the permissions to do so.
