To be clear, to someone who has absolutely 0 knowledge of that meme all it looked like to me who was pinged with that was that you drew a correlation towards a 'succulent chinese meal' as your dick. Being both sexual and racist. I'm impartial and totally fine with this being lifted by whoever inspects it if they think this is fine to be said on the discord. Sorry if this was upsetting for you Anthony and that I didn't know the meme context.

The map looks incredible I must say. I do love me some good maps. 2zlevels from 1?

I fundamentally think that a lowpop/midpop Odyssey expedition (assuming it is replacing Secret, as Fluffy said earlier do correct me if I'm wrong) is kinda wild. On low to midpop if people are going off on an expedition the ship will be UTTERLY empty and any person joining the server for the first time will be met with an empty ship and people off having some adventure. Plus, there are plenty of jobs that simply do not work on an adventure, such as the entirety of service, some of science, half of operations, half of security and also all corporate liasons as well as consulars. In a standard secret, even if it's extended secret, all service jobs and others such as investigations and consulate/rep roles have a purpose. Antag goes wild kidnaps a consular, cool w/e but we simply cannot cater to everybody with these things. Which will leave a large amount of players just afk on the ship or leaving to play something else. People play consulars to rep their faction, teach people lore and get people who break the lore of certain factions deported, just as people play corp reps to be soulless husks who kinda vibe around and talk with people of their company. While you could generate hooks for some of these people in some odyssey events, it isn't why people ready for those roles. People do not ready for bartender wanting to go take their equipment down on the intrepid, nor do people pick chef to make rations. They pick it to roleplay with people and if an antag screws them over then that's part of that roleplay. If 14-16 people leave in medium population we just lose our service mains and our rep/liasonmains Hindsight will show me right in that Odyssey cannot fundamentally replace Secret entirely. Because if one Odyssey mission is just some bunker, it's basically just Extended With a Bunker and there's no conflict interpersonally that is brought up. Interpersonal conflict is a large part of what makes antagonism interesting, because it brings facets out of characters that normally would not be shown unless under stress. If Odyssey is only intended to be a votable mode, I'd say it must be 15 players minimum to allow the ship to not simply die and cease to exist when players get the non optional choice of go down or be on a skeleton ship.

I think that fundamentally Odyssey cannot replace secret, in lowpop where you may not have a GM or have a GM but no actors it just feels like an agony simulator. Limited for high to medium pop and not all the time would be mandatory because on lowpop with a gm and no actors, or visa versa is basically entering the pirate base. People's stamina also can't keep up for 'an event every day' and would hamper the chair rp that a lot of people do enjoy doing inbetween getting their combat hit. We saw after the Odyssey test that the player count immediately tanked with everyone going 'holy fuck I'm exhausted' and I feel like it could overall present a fatigue issue for players who participate in them as a regular thing. As a supplement for secret, this is great. It cannot replace secret. Secret is also not solely developed by us, basically every other ss13 server has a version of secret which allows for idea and code cannibalism where needed. It's hard to summarize my point of view, but I feel this may also make actual canon events seem tame or actually boring in comparison with how constantly intense these have the potential to be on highpop. This feels like a step towards militarized RP and away from our funny corporate space ship, especially if these have the potential of being canon so we have sec officers going (I'm a veteran of over 50 combat missions on planets and have 100 confirmed kills, fish fear me, women love me.) At least canon violent events have a chance of permanent character death (and on Adhomai record numbers), and are a strict rarity that everyone looks forward to for the novelty. TL;DR: Odyssey does not feel realistic to be a replacement to secret, but an addition would be welcome. Even with zero PRs relating to secret it has still been going strong during Odyssey development, and probably will continue to do so. I also feel like it is overstated on people 'never playing antag'. I've monitored antag and some people just toggle it once a week or only on lower populations where they can do more relaxed gimmicks. Odyssey is extremely promising and deserves dev time. But I have been proven right with my predictions and likely will again that 2 years down the line we will still have Secret, even if Odyssey may be played more or less than it.

Perhaps if left on for upwards of 20-30 minutes? Huge leeway to make a lot of meals, turn off to cool down then turn back on
-
I think what Aurora is TRULY missing is kitchen safety RP. People leave the gas stoves on, the oven on and so on. CLEARLY what we need, more than any other feature including the Odyssey is for the kitchen to set fire if the stoves are left on and unattended.

A bot crate (medbots, floorbots etc) for skeleton pop with nobody to clean and no doctors matriarch drone replacement crate (for if it dies)

Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Trivial Species: PRA Tajara Short Description: How will this be reflected on-station?: odd funny snippit in conversation, perhaps still powered tesla hearts still beat inside a person when listened to Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Not really Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? 😠yea Long Description: Alright so the idea here is that since tesla prosthesis all have this kinda cool electro-tech vibe going for them, that when someone with tesla organs die they continue to run even with the body no longer functional. Since the tesla spine continues to supply power there's no reason for them to stop, it would be a needless design thing to monitor for a confirmed KIA state of a host and could kill them if it turned off on a false positive. Thus tesla hearts continue to 'beat' in their own odd mechanical fashion inside dead Tajara until the spine turns off, and other organs continue to try and filter non flowing blood etcetc but of course less noticable compared to the heart. How it benefits anything? It doesn't, barring being a kinda cool bit of rp to be like "Yeah Tajara's replacement hearts keep going when they die, it's kinda morbid but awesome" and perhaps some amusing rp hooks of being like 'Yeah herrrr frrrriend she carrrrrried back to the unit medics back on Adhomai, she carrrrrried them for hourrrrs thinking they werrre alive, but theirrr tesla heart was still beating, she had never hearrrd of that beforrre." Thank u for wasting your time on my useless lore canonization app with trivial utility but neat implications.

[Closed] Trade Offer: Fix These Bugs And I Will Draw For You
Lmwevil replied to La Villa Strangiato's topic in Projects
Ayna Rashed, the resident trashcat of the relay but a true Futurist and visionary Hadiist that I've had since the Aurora, and my first Tajara. Limbs are all tesla limbs, patchwork fur on the lower muzzle. Pose could be from behind, showing a tesla spine and scars as she looks to the ground if you didn't feel like doing her face. Or looking over her shoulder? -
(priority) Satchels in pocket auto offloading ores into nearby ore box when they pick up (agonising inventory management please I beg of someone to do this, it slows down workflow by a LOT) To be clear all this does is reduce clicks, you still would have to be dragging the crate and have it adjacent, it's just that your mining pouch auto offloads, like it does on every other server with mining. The teleporting of ores to be remotely processed is still objectively superior and worth getting the warp pack, dunno how it invalidates going back at all. The thermal drill is still ultimate end tier shit and you can get that after 1 moderately ok haul 20-30 minutes into the round and you will be going back for that

Random mining QOL ideas, feel free to comment if you have more ideas, i've marked priority as genuine like game altering issues facing them atm When new miners log on to be able to hit a device to ping all active miners anywhere on the map to bring the spark back so they can do their jobs. Sucks to be fucked over because the spark is out of comms range. Expedition radio being default on their bounced radios (priority) kinetic accelerator damage nerf/safety buff: kinetic accelerators only doing damage to the CENTRAL target while the AOE only breaks ores, makes it 100% safe for mining unless you click yourself, so many people tag themselves with the accelerator and it doesn't need the AOE damage when the best way to handle most simplemobs is melee since you will almost always shoot yourself with the KA when trying to hit eels or reavers presently. Shuttle manifest on all their PDA types A stasis bag default in the Spark's stowage. Spark airlock air tank starting with like 200 more kpa to help with jamming issues Mining coin for the drills is objectively best, give the accelerator coin option an actual good KA like one that could be in the warehouse Grade B or a snowflake customizer kit to summon parts for Your Favourite build (priority) Satchels in pocket auto offloading ores into nearby ore box when they pick up (agonising inventory management please I beg of someone to do this, it slows down workflow by a LOT) (priority) conveyor belts jam super fast due to jank code and move like 2 sheets of anything at a time, solution is to put the ore processors where the unloading thing is, and make ore processors automatically drop stacks of ore when processing or please buff belts by like 1000% - atm faster to bypass belts by going through maint and unloading the box right on the processor distress signal for the spark's transponder so someone can come help when out of comms range. (If it's there I don't know how to turn it on.) death alarms as an option for points from mining vendors (grim corporate dystopia, so people actually know when you die)

On /tg/ they have a repeatable surgery called 'mend wounds' which would be a nice way to make corpses look less fucked up for funerals, and a way for surgeons to help fix brute/burn damage very slowly. How it works is basically functionally stitching/grafting wounds shut, and stops at a certain % of damage, not a full heal but still it makes sense that in surgery we should be able to fix limbs and body parts. Thoughts? I don't think this would have huge usecases since chemistry doing their jobs can fix all types of damage and wouldn't require repeat surgery steps to put someone slowly back together.

On /tg/station their space suits have batteries in them which provide cooling to the interior, or heating if too cold. This is more accurate to how suits work irl, and we should have the same system in our voidsuits to swap in and out power cells for suit cooling. It'd make the suits more comfortable for tajara but not cool enough for an IPC without a suit cooler, or warm enough for a unathi. It'd help when exposed to hotter or colder atmospheres, filling the feeling of being an environmentally sealed suit keeping you alive. As a resource to manage it could consume very very slowly like oxygen does to not be obnoxious. Thoughts?

This has been here since july 13th? guh, Don't worry someone will get to this soon +1 Edit: I am a small stupid creature, and didn't see owen's post. It's so over, never has been more over -
BYOND key: Lmwevil Discord name/id: SquidQueen Borg / AI names: Planned AI name: Apollo Have you read the Aurora wiki page about the AI?: Yep! Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: It's a whitelist I don't have, and for some reason my brainworms have dictated that I will be playing AI with my return to Aurora. Plus it's just an interesting role and can inspire roleplay in a different way, all the while having curious lore implications and fun hologram rp. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Nothing that I can recall or mattered I think at least within the last few years. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yep!

There's no need to ping matt, maintainer discussions can take a lot of time. This sort of thing stays on their menu for a good minute. As for blind consulars, I suppose my question would be why would in any world a diplomatic service of any nation with the ability to cure blindness, not cure the blindness of a diplomat sent to another nation. Remember that diplomats have to be able to speak good, and of course look at paperwork. But more importantly they need to look at the people they're talking to, to see their facial expressions and read them in order to get what your nation desires and foster friendships. One could argue you have daredevil like hearing and the tiniest change in the pitch of someone's voice is something you note, but plenty of people say a lot about themselves irl based on how they sit and move. I also have the hot take opinion that mute characters do not add much to the roleplay experience, and often serve to hamper or slow it down. (I can name 1 mute character I enjoyed interacting with in all my time on Aurora and it was a mute bartender tv face ipc who communicated via images on the tv which was actually neat) But that's a different kettle of fish.

Misc Policy; Headmin/Dev Elections, Complaints, etc.
Lmwevil replied to dessysalta's topic in Policy Suggestions
As former /tg/ administration, I can say categorically that their methods would not work here for a number of reasons. But EVEN /tg/ does not have elections for their development team, which is held under the strict eye of oranges ever since he took it in the late 2010s. Their host MSO would never give up his power and still holds unilateral veto on everything, any mechanic, feature or rule he can enact and everyone just has to go with it. (Though it's /tg/ so with reddit threads, policy threads and countless internal arguments) Do you really want endless reddit farming threads about our server to try and influence elections, trying to implement a system that could only have players that are active enough vote, but then have bad actors who know the election is coming do rounds in advance so they can vote despite not being a real member of the community? /tg/ survived this for a long time because it was gigantic, not so much these days but it was one of the biggest ss13 communities out there and it lead to one of the most toxic environments possible in the community. Us vs them tribalism and so on. If you wanted to argue for transparency and so on, sure why not, but this is not an argument out of reason but from bad faith emotion and upset at being unable to take an L. To explain /tg/'s system to those who are unaware, the head admin position is held by 3 people, and elections are held every so and so months. There is the public candidate, who is elected based on the player vote, the HOST vote, who is whoever the leaving headmins want to elect (it can be a leaving headmin but this is rare, basically it's mso's pick but the headmins advise him, so in practice they decide), then the admin vote. The public vote was, at least during my time seen mostly as a joke; That whoever was able to meme the most and get the most community attention would get the most votes, not out of any policy or ways they wanted to run the server. The admin vote was seen with more sincere care, but there were also very old admins who didn't play and only appeared to vote for certain people or metacliques (before the inactive culling happened under coconut). Now the headmins by design cannot do things by themselves, they vote together and have to get a majority to do ANYTHING. I mean this in the kindest possible way but this leads to an unironic political landscape where some policies are ceded by others in order to get certain things they wanted to do through. Some terms would LITERALLY be upheaving the entire thing the last 2 terms did, which lead to the administration being kinda aimless overall. I mean hell, for 6 months there were debates over if slurs should actually be banned, and by god that was a totally fine and sane discourse (it wasn't.) PS: Regarding reporting all of headstaff, that seems kinda pointless from a systems standpoint. Nothing can be done to them, they're the heads. If they fucked up then speak to them about it, if they all screwed up unanimously on something well that's kinda tough you'll have to hope they have the insight and ability to improve on their mistakes. Unless you expect them to all slap eachother on the wrist or all at once be removed from their positions (which would destroy the server). -
