You are absolutely missing something, however this thread is directly for industrial ipcs, if you want to discuss Diona balance hit me on discord or make a different thread. This is wildly off topic.

Former Dionae lore writer here: Geras Dionae are nowhere even close to the power they used to be, I PROMISE you we talked devs to oblivion to get it right. Yes they WERE pain immune but they aren't anymore, as well as moee stringent lore oversight on behaviour but fun fact they are not as slow as they were years ago. Geras Dionae, the thick old bark boys are resistant but can be paincrit with a laser and take substantial time to heal. Plus any ashed limbs removes them from the round pretty much due to the collective brain damage. They can walk in space but cannot wear any form of mag boots nor suit. Furthermore if I recall correctly Dionae have double the pain cap of build up, crippling them for ages. they also cannot sprint Zoomer, young Dionae are weak to most damage and take DOUBLE pain compared to a human, they will paincrit because of a stiff breeze and remain in agony for 5 to ten minutes even in a light. They are also pure pacifists not within sec beyond maybe investigating. however zoomers move a bit faster than a human with no sprint If Dionae are made to split and reform the trauma knocks them out lf the round unlike an ipc who just has a new body stop bringing up my beloved trees, they are not relevant to the discussion edit: posted from mobile forgive any grammar or spelling edit 2: Shrapnel from bullets in a Diona require surgery to remove typically, because of the pain buildup they are out of the fight if they get embeds. EMPs also kill them indirectly by burning out the lights (they cannot feed from portable lights bar one that uses a battery and thus dies), they can never have flash protection among a laundry list of other things. TRUST ME they are fine as they are and are nothing akin to ipcs

before I hear someone say "request your notes from staff", the vast majority of people will see 'Oh I can see my notes, oh there's nothing here I'm glad i'm doing so well on the server' then never know that they have hidden notes past X date
-
deadmin all staff immediately
-
why are the forums on fire
-
he is toxic
-
i think warnings and notes are different, i believe staff note you and cannot be seen unless you ask, however actual warnings are different
-
It's already a coded thing on /tg/station, just take their translation gloves

SHE IS SO TOXIC LOOK AT HOW MEAN SHE IS TO ME, I DEMAND HER BE TURNED TO A SECONDARY ADMIN FOR THIS TRANSGRESSION NO I WILL NOT USE THE REPORT FORMAT, I AM THAT MAD

Should BUDDY learn engines/thrusters?

Eddymakaveli's Command Whitelist Application
Lmwevil replied to eddymakaveli's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I think you have the ability to do as a player a great command effort, I've seen you been a good interim OM with nothing to complain about that I have seen. I do think that Konstantyn could fit into command, but you'd have to do some shaving, plus people will have some preconceptions of the character as we've seen above. I think you're a good roleplayer, I do think that at least for the trial not having any bias attached to you while you do it from the command being Konstantyn may give you better odds. As for the negative feedback above, on the Dominian round where he was kidnapped I was uhhh, I think Fives, either Fives or Freedom and I didn't hear of any heroics. Konstantyn however -is- a boaster, like most miners who like to act as if they're big and tough, which is kinda par for the course of that field. I've never heard him do any crazy heroics unless there's like literally no security, in that case he does try to help but I don't see problems with that. Either way if you choose to promote him or make a new one I think you'll do a great job. +1 -
I have another feature from other servers, again this is /tg/. Filters. Gasmask filters are a physical object that stop you inhaling certain unsafe gasses in the atmosphere but are damaged by the existence of that gas in the atmosphere, they are removed and placed in a gas mask with alt click, think of it like a bit worse internals but you never need to turn on or have a tank for. For phoron flooding it won't help much, you're dead if it washed over all your clothes without aid anyway, but with unsafe gasses like n2o or whatever, maybe might matter? It's mostly a cool fluff thing to make gas masks actually do something different to breath masks

BYOND Key: Lmwevil Discord Username: SquidQueen#3107 Character Name: Freedom Of Self Shackled By Unending Greed Nuanced Between The Last Breath of Kindness From Mortal Lips While Trapped In An Endless Cycle of Misery Perpetuated By Generations Of Unwitting Slaves to Systems That Control and Bind Throughout All of Time While Blinded To The Beauty Of The Worlds Around Due To Short-sighted Needs While Bathing In Cold False Light Shielded From Radiant Stars By Unfeeling Steel (Short name Freedom Of Self Shackled By Unending Greed) Item Name: Renewed antiquated labcoat Item Function(s): Looking -good-, buttoning and unbuttoning Item Description: An ancient labcoat from the Narrows, recently revitalized with extreme tailoring to become a symbol of unity between the Conglomerate and Dionae across the spur after the allowance of Dionae as Executive Officers aboard the Horizon. It must have cost a substantial sum to fix the century old labcoat back up to scratch. On the left arm is a beautifully sewn on patch that reads "A block". Why is your character bringing this item to work?: Freedom is one of the lucky Dionae to be promoted to XO after the position opens up, they have worn a shitty, ancient labcoat from the Narrows for all their time on the Horizon and seek to rectify this with a new, sleek and modern labcoat to wear to work that bares the SCC colours in solidarity for the change. How did your character obtain this item?: A substantial amount of savings into a specialized tailor, before that it was found on a cadaver they absorbed aboard the Narrows, and is deeply personal to them. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: This item is the symbol of where they started, and where they now are. Once, they were struggling to survive at all, organizing teams of gestalts to repair the Narrows. Now? They are at the top of their game, society is progressing and so are they, able to provide and aid others as best they can, this labcoat is the symbol of their utter commitment to the Conglomerate, as well as an homage to the nameless prisoner who they carry the memories of. Sprites: FreedomCoat.dmi Additional Comments: Credit to Kyres for the sprite, it's all I could have hoped for.

I was more just saying that it was a variant of the ore magnet in a fashion and how it was done differently on another codebase. we don't need a trash magnet, we need an ore magnet imho
-
that's a really good idea, i'd support the heck outta that
-
oh also viewport flooring from /tg/ and other codebases, which could be used for an observation bubble area so we can enjoy the beautiful backdrop under the Horizon could be cool, example:

So I have been exploring other servers in recent months to see what would be good to steal for aurora. On /tg/ they have a thing called Translation Gloves. It's essentially something that mute characters can take, allowing their gloves to turn hand symbols into basic, and able to radio albiet with sometimes some letters li*e thi*. For mute characters who use sign here? It'd be neat, it'd also give them more options job-wise and give them a question on what gloves ot wear if it's their translation pair or insulated for example. As another funny feature, which doesn't need to be ported, signing over there actually takes a little time as you do the handsigns, with a little symbol appearing to show that you're making them. On Goonstation there is a thing called the asteroid magnet: https://wiki.ss13.co/Guide_to_Mining#The_Quantum_Telescope. In short what it does is allow you to use a computer minigame to find asteroids with a specific composition, or just pull in asteroids with random compositions. On Eris there is a similar device called the Scrap Magnet that summons piles of trash to rifle though. I think on Aurora we could benefit from an asteroid magnet of some variety. As it is mining is a hyper lethal role with massive transit times, who will realistically never benefit from better mining gear for anything other than murking antags since after landing back, to go out again would basically be the end of the round. As someone who mained mining on the station, I think we do need a 'vibe' variant while also keeping the overmap. The magnet is a good solution, while lessening the 'miners are turbo killing badasses' instead of overworked labourers angle. On Deadspace13 they have RIGs for everyone, because of course they do, RIGs are cool. As they are on Aurora also pretty neat. On /tg/ in recent years they have added MODSUITS, essentially their own version of RIGs, think alternative backpacks over there that anyone can have, cargo has like exoskeletons to lift crates and stuff, and smaller than a satchel carrying capacity. I think it'd be pretty cool to phase out the exosuits to load the guns, and instead use a 'loader' RIG that lets you lift ammo. RIGs in general I think need more love here, as the only variants are: Offworlder rig, which is sick and we need more 'non sealing' ones like it, EVA for basic suit, Industrial for looking like a brick, used by nobody besides mining at best, Advanced and AMI, both requiring phoron and mining, never used outside of the usual ones that spawn, and then hazard/combat which are exclusively for combat or mining. On Baystation they use 'shield breachers' on their airlocks so engineers can EVA when the shields are up. As it is right now, if the shield is on, there is no way to leave the Horizon at all other than a shuttle, all airlocks are covered by the shield, and it's a kinda weird thing to remove entire shipwide defensive covering just to pick up some carp for the kitchen. On /tg/ station they have a unique spin on how xenobiology is done, which would remove 'your character needs to be a literal psychopath' from being as bad to doing the department. TL;DR xenobiology on /tg/ has you sit at a console, you warp slimes out using an interface and kill them in a cold room, you can warp monkeys out to a recycler, it's all done through a bluespace console, speeding up workflow and making it less "I am cremating hundreds of monkeys by hand just so I can get some gold from a slime". They also do some really cool stuff with slime cores which is worth looking into with crossbreeding https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Guide_to_xenobiology#Crossbreeding but that's besides the point. On /tg/station they have a unique form of bounties, in short any crew member can slot their ID into a machine and pick up an objective, if they cash in the objects to the machine, it ejects a bounty box worth a certain amount of credits, cargo is given a bonus for shipping it in a short period of time, and once shipped the person who cashed it also gets given a portion for contributing. Giving a way for anyone to pick up a bounty to earn some credits in round is neat as a concept. On /vg/ /tg/ and I think most other codebases, there's a thing called atmos resin that can be projected from a backpack using water as a fuel. In short when you shoot from the atmos backpack tank, it shoots a ball that becomes foam, then a blue resin that is translucent. This feels pretty important to have for atmos techs here given that phoron contamination is just *that* bad when it gets on any object, that quickly sealing it in resin to slowly deal with gives atmos something unique against phoron fires or leaks compared to engineers. As an unrelated note high power pumps cannot be vended at the moment and instead give 3 way manifolds for some reason, weird bug.

given that some INSANELY lethal mining mobs such as the Ravager are light sensitive, NVGs are kinda a massive deal for mining to get a hold of i'd support them being an every suit thing like actuators, it's not even op given that it usually pops up an hour into a round at -best- with mining speed atm

DaTruRiZZoB | Command Application
Lmwevil replied to DaTruRiZZoB's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Good CE, saw them in a recent round begin depressurized area repair training and stuff, good character and competent command member. -
does this change the actual amount of light for growing plants, and for dionae on station or is it just cosmetic light changes? edit: Dionae could have their light sensitivity tweaked if so, not a huge deal. Plant trays have inbuilt lights, but it does matter for light sensitive things such as circuits that produce power based on light, etc etc.

kyres1 deputy loremaster application
Lmwevil replied to kyres1's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Slurs in early 2020, when it is the start of 2022. I do feel like there should be some sort of limit as to when you can drag shit up on people. Like sure you may have points about it being during tenure of position but giving people the chance to change is why we have appeals and stuff right? People can change? -
Alberyk Deputy Loremaster Application
Lmwevil replied to Alberyk's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I think you easily have the best skillset, and if you can't handle the workload of both positions you can just resign tajara lore, it's not like it's the end of the world - you've been around so fucking long you clearly know how to handle your own burnout in a healthy manner +1 -
