Huh. Some time ago, I thought that Alberyk is a primitive caveman, just enjoying robusting other players with their liggers. But, after some OOC/ghost chat discussions, I believe that Alberyk is a reasonable person, and may be a good moderator. That's a +1

Nope, not really true. IPC's are not connected to the extranet/internet, and don't have 'modems'. Quote and link: This means that they cannot be remotely accessed. They're like a computer with no network connection. And, (maybe) nope, not "believable" and "well-rounded". Quote and link: They wish they had a hundred just like you. That's why they will promote your character away from the Aurora to do tasks more suited to their incredible skills. So, IPC's are not an exception from the rule. I dislike IPC's (whether they are just TV heads, or cats acting like cats) that use their race as a excuse to powergame, or just to know, and do every job on the station. Yes, I changed my characters accordingly.

That moment when your character has zero sense of self preservation. It fucks up your lungs.

Energy Swords Cut Through Girders (Wall?) And Furniture
Dreamix replied to a topic in Completed Projects
I have NO idea how to check if the sword is on. For example, I have this: if(istype(W, /obj/item/weapon/melee/energy)) for(var/mob/O in viewers(user, 4)) O.show_message("\blue The [src] was sliced apart by [user]'s energy sword!", 1, "\red You hear [src] coming apart.", 2) destroy() How the hell do I use call's, and istypes? Why can't I just do "if (active)", that's already in melee/energy (albeit, in different .dm), why can't I just specify the path? Help. -
Energy Swords Cut Through Girders (Wall?) And Furniture
Dreamix replied to a topic in Completed Projects
You stab the sword into the door and begin to slice it apart. The the table was sliced apart by Paget Raub's energy sword! Walls are okay. Cloned plasma cutter's functionality. Tables are okay. Cloned changeling armblade's functionality. Doors are quite okay, too. Cloned emag's functionality. I also need a way to check if energy sword is active. -
Energy Swords Cut Through Girders (Wall?) And Furniture
Dreamix replied to a topic in Completed Projects
Replace 'wall' with 'door', minor mistake. *sparks* are there, too. After the thing, door stays open, pretty much like how it works with emags and ninja swords. At this moment, just imagine that the door's electronics are fried so hard, it just opens. edit: Walls and girders are quite easy. As for furniture, I'm not going to venture into those places. It may be tricky to e-sword-cut these, or even finding all furniture that may be allowed to be cut up. What about sprites? Should tables be deleted after cutting, or just turned into table parts (what about other furniture)? So, no furniture cutting, for now. edit2: Fuuuuuck! It's not working for bolted-closed doors. It's still getting cut-up, if the user moves. It's working even if the e-sword is off. -
Packet tracer. I enjoy this. What level does this fall under?

Energy Swords Cut Through Girders (Wall?) And Furniture
Dreamix replied to a topic in Completed Projects
Huh. I'm not that great. Items don't usually have coded in any interactions with other things. In our case, walls do. So, for example if you want your pen to wrench walls, you want to search for wall code. This is why, as quite recently suggested, making better wrenches (and welders, and stuff) research-able is not a great idea, unless you want to add xxxx wrench-structure/item interactions to existing non-wrench things. Also, we still need our Head Developer's word on this. And I will need to make a pull request, or something. And I need to read a guide on how to use the damn github. -
Energy Swords Cut Through Girders (Wall?) And Furniture
Dreamix replied to a topic in Completed Projects
Hey. It's possible! It's working! Now, do we want plasma-cutter functionality in our e-swords? How much things do we want to be slice-able by e-swords? Walls? R-walls? Girders? Asteroid walls? Doors (with longer cooldown, of course)? I'd rather not try this with furniture and stuff, because of reasons. -
Energy Swords Cut Through Girders (Wall?) And Furniture
Dreamix replied to a topic in Completed Projects
I took a look at stuff with my untrained non-coder eye. It may be possible to do this in a easy way. Why just may? You see, ninja blade has coded in interactions with walls, and other things. And e-swords don't, e-swords are just weapons that deal damage, and allow you to commit seppuku. If I know the code good enough (and I probably don't), without some hacks, or dubious and repetitive work, this isn't possible. What I think may be done: Some experienced coder could tell me, if what I wrote is even remotely close to what's true, that would be nice. -
Chameleon gear, available for wizards to 'buy'. Guns don't come in the package, because of obvious balance reasons. - Unfortunately, I can't remove emp vulnerability (and it being research-scannable), without changing actual syndicate stuff. - I tried to clone the entire chameleon gear file (with changing pathes and names, to not literally duplicate stuff), and comment-out emp and research stuff, but somehow the compiler is still spewing errors at me: "code\modules\clothing\under\chameleon.dm:290:error: change: previous definition code\modules\clothing\under\chameleonwizard.dm:390:error: change: duplicate definition" - I couldn't find what's allowing/disallowing wizards using spells in wizard/non-wizard clothes. 'wiz_robe.dm' isn't helping here.

That's why we have 689 topics on 28 pages full of suggestions. Can't disagree with that. And if anything is suggested that's nice and also doable, the'new map' card is used. The small detail that it's never going to be finished, or that it's never going to met expectations is usually skipped.
-
This may be a problem. Or rather (I may be wrong) no developers/mappers eager to do mapping/code additions.
-
If you could like, not break the forums, that would be nice. But yeah, I will try if chameleon stuff works for wizards. It will still cost wizard stuff, because otherwise it would need some mapping.
-
Well, 'stylish' clothes I suggested/made also give some protection/armour to the wizard, trenchcoat being a little bullet/melee proof, and sunglasses protecting from flashes. Or, you may need mapper's help for adding things to the map. Mapper's help, this may need a complete remap of wizard's den/area on CC's z-level, making it larger, with bigger wardrobe/dressing room area. That would be a major rebalance/overhaul of wizard's gamemode, I believe.

A pole. Polish technical student, trying to make living in this shithole, without leaving the sinking ship.

Well, if someone can resprite a ripley/gygax/durand, I may try to clone mech code, essentially making a new one and calling it "mechromancer's mech" (or some other clever name). I may allow a wizard to 'buy' the new mech for one spell-point, and to allow him to 'buy' weapons for this mech, also for one spell-point (to not make this too cheap). If wizardly spells can be used in-mech, that would be a pretty neat idea, I believe. But, that's just day dreaming, I'm not a real coder. Without a real developer's approval/assistance, I can't really do much.

Trenchcoat Agent: Leather satchel, leather trenchcoat, jackboots. Glasses, gloves, telescopic baton. A properly badass suit set. May cause inability to use some spells. Energy Weaponry: A special cane, holstered energy pistol, non-optional laser rifle. Beware of electromagnetic pulses. Business Man Suit: A closet with a set of proper businessman suits gets bluespaced onto your position, watch your head. Female and male suit variants. May cause inability to use some spells. Well. I guess it's pretty okay. Need more ideas, and/or developer's approval.

Uh. I'm not sure if you are just making fun of me. Well, wizard is just a gamemode. You don't need to be a ancient wizard. Hopefully, you will be able to roleplay a time traveler from the future, complete with cool clothes and EMP technology. Or, hopefully, you may even dress as a businessman, actually seeking business, without looking like a hobo dressed in blue rags. Also, this 'super-agent' stuff still costs you 'wizard-money', no thing is free. I still need ideas, I can't think of anything non-obvious, like this trenchcoat stuff, or businessman suits ;_;

Wizardry additional equipment sets - working, need ideas
Dreamix replied to Killerhurtz's topic in Archive
Don't have your expectations set to high, please. I'm just a yellow doggie, who thinks that he can understand the code, and slightly modify it to fit his needs. -
Recently, people were complaining about wizards being useless, boring, repetitive, stale, and/or unrealistic. So, I have actually managed to get this working: So, I need some feedback, suggestions, balance ideas, more equipment ideas, anything. With some spriter's help, we can even add entirely new things. Without spriters, existing, and working items, please. I will also need someone to make a pull request on github, it's confusing.

Subject: 11/29/2015 - Player Complaint: Halorocks22 So, uh. Spells that spawn more things. So: - Make the wizard spawn naked/in a grey jumpsuit - Let wizard choose one more spell (+1) - Add clothing/hardsuit sets to the spell pool, such as: *existing wizard set *futuristic set *duty officer imposter set *trenchcoat and jackboots set *species specific things (unathi mantles+breacher/unathi hardsuit) Why spells, and not just lockers filled with stuff, mister yellow doggie? I believe, this way it would be balanced, you can't just mismatch suits, or wear night-vision goggles with wizard suits, possibly powergaming in a easy, obvious way.

This fucking shit. I love it.

We don't judge people by their post count. But I do. It's like if we had total hours played counted, and displayed in-game besides a player name. If you have X many hours, that means you weren't banned yet, and you are probably engaged in/bringing stuff into the community. And that's something.

Pssst, what was the last time we got anything?Custom items?Yeah, some things weren't been done since may. Let us dream!
