Hephaestus Announces Completion of Branch Office! Last month, Hephaestus Industries announced it would be constructing a branch office within the city of Skamander, and today it has announced its completion. The announcement comes without the fanfare or press conference expected with such, but a statement was released from the guildmaster Titanius Aeson’s office. The statement can be found below. The guildmaster’s short but powerful statement was not only a message to the press, but a message to all loyal subjects of the Hegemony. It is always good to see that despite the darkness that surrounds us, we will have friends we can rely on.

Reporting Personnel: Zaraz Ikazel Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer Personnel in Question: Violeta Arche Job Title of Personnel in Question: Physician, Nanotrasen Reason for Review: [ ] - Extended Arrest History [ ] - Grievous Infraction on Record [X] - Other: Incorrect charge on record. (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Notes: The charge applied on 7/10/2464 should be Minor Assault, not Battery and Minor Theft. Due to a miscommunication, those charges were applied to Arche while not being her charges. So, I wrote this review request to see if it could get fixed. The fine was 600cr, within the range of fines for minor assault.

I think enough has been said about your RP, activity, and generally being a good person, so I'm not going to rehash all that. What I wanted to mention was your ability to communicate. I think you are very good at stating what you think and your reasoning for those thoughts in a clear and polite manner; which seems like it would be incredibly important as a moderator. I think I noticed this most in your Dreary Futures feedback, and hope you keep it up as a moderator! +1

In order to pick an accent in the Quickees you also have to pick an origin. So tying it to origin would work for Off-stations as well.(last I checked, if I'm wrong, feel free to kill me)

Echoing what matt said, I'd love to see this as a thing tied to origins rather then accents.

Hephaestus Industries announces construction of a new branch office on Moghes! Hephaestus Industries has announced the creation of a new branch office in the city of Skamander earlier today, another milestone as the relationship between the corporation and our great state continues to grow. The announcement was followed by a press conference to which our reporters were invited; the press conference held by Hephaestus' Sector Administrator for the Hegemony, Yukal T’zakal, formerly a chief engineer for Hephaestus at the Ceres shipyards. Hephaestus’s Guildmaster, the Titan of Industry Aeson, and Head of Personnel Brizio Di Moze were also in attendance. Taking place in front of a massive empty lot that will soon become the newest branch office, Administrator T’zakal took the floor to speak to the assembled reporters. The speech was in Sinta’Unathi, but a translation to Tau Ceti Basic is available here. Following questions revealed some additional information, the Branch office will be staffed primarily by Unathi working for the Hephaestus Guild, currently at an indeterminate number. Questions regarding the security of the Branch Office were answered with no comment, beyond that security considerations will be taken into account. The last question to be asked was a question about the timing, why was Hephaestus announcing this massive Branch Office now. Titanius Aeson, the Hephaestus Guildmaster, indicated he wished to answer the question; he said the following: The press conference ended shortly after, and construction is set to begin tomorrow. A new chapter in the relationship between our Hegemony and Hephaestus Industries has just been opened!

I found some time to write a response to this, so here it is. The reason I personally pushed for the Caravaggio to use it's shipborne weapons as the primary threat against the Horizon was due to believability and consistency. The Caravaggio was hired in the first place because it has shipborne weapons, and the Horizon does not. This had been established in past events. When the Caravaggio decided to turn on the Horizon, while yes, we could have had the threat be tangible characters in vampires and heavy weapons, the Caravaggio could threaten better just using their shipborne weapons. IC'ly, I wouldn't find it believable or consistent with their goals for the Caravaggio to not use their ship to ship weapons as a threat. It's not something I want us to do again anytime soon, since you are both right in that it is annoying to have the threat be some nebulous other thing, and not really able to be interacted with.

Okay, I had written out replies to every single question, but there's some many similar ones I'm just going to write out stuff, many answers can be found in the summary which was posted for all to see. 1) Fighting the FSF was not what was supposed to happen, or the "correct" course of action for the Horizon to take. We rarely have correct courses of action, we have courses that will result in better things for the Horizon, and courses that will result in worse. We want to give players freedom to do what they want within a set of limits, most of these limits imposed by their own previous IC actions. There was an expectation that the Horizon may try to fight the FSF based off of previous events, the only hard data we have to base expectations and predictions on, as we'd rather not guess. 2) The FSF and the Caraviaggo didn't expect no retaliation. They are the most intact fleet group in the wildlands, the same type of group that during KOTW the SCC required the help of the next two largest human factions, the CoC and Elyra, to defeat. It is unlikely the SCC alone could mount battles of extermination even if they wanted to. There is also the additional question of would the SCC want to hunt down the FSF fleets for one of their ships pointing their guns at the Horizon? Beyond the fact the Caraviaggo has no baring on the rest of the FSF, the entire reason that mess even happened was the fault of the Horizon's crew, the most believable course of action I see given how we write the SCC, is command during the events being taken off the line and unceremoniously fired for creating this situation in the first place. This is something we obviously did not wish to do, and hopefully something we never do because it's incredibly boring and uninteresting. The SCC has no friends in the wildlands, and the FSF is one of two who aren't openly hostile, so the SCC wants to keep them like that very badly. The Caraviaggo itself also doesn't really care, they can go find work pretty much anywhere, even returning to the fold of Sol proper if they brought enough goods with them most likely. 3) This event was entirely the result of the crews actions during the last one. This isn't out of the blue, or a wild change in the way we write, but a logical consequence. The crew during the last event catastrophically failed to put up a mild resistance until after the SFA had killed the two FSF senior officers. There is going to be consequences for that, and this was the best one we could think of to push the story forward and keep the impact on the people who did those actions, while not going about it in a way that destroyed characters. Contracts don't really matter when you get the people who you signed them with killed. 4) The FSF were never, and will probably never be friendly with the SCC. Their only relationship is one of convenience, the SCC has credits, the FSF has access to equipment and ships no other mercenary organization has thanks to previously being a Solarian Fleet. By paying them, the SCC can ensure they remain on side, and not fighting the SCC, but that's only if the credits keep flowing and there's an ability to collect. If de Ransburg had so chosen, he could have set up his own warlord state in the wildlands and done pretty well, it says this much on the wiki. They're probably the single most powerful group of mercenaries in existence when it comes to who they can fight. 5) And this is probably the most important part, you can't get paid when you're dead. From the FSF's perspective, the Horizon basically killed their officers by standing aside for the SFA, so why would they continue to protect the Horizon right off the bat if it's a quick way to get killed? They only agreed to continue protecting them after the captain during the round offered to double their original contract, and fully complied with their demands for the phoron. 6) I forgot to copy this part. The Caraviaggo is one ship, not the entire FSF. When I say FSF in this post, I mean the crew and command of the Caraviaggo. They find their own work, and as long as they're making money De Ransburg doesn't really care what they're doing, as long as it doesn't fuck with the revenue stream for everyone else. As outlined in my second point, the chance of blowback is limited, even on the Caraviaggo. But even if there is blowback, the Caraviaggo wouldn't give a shit, they made their money, got compensated for the deaths of their senior officers, and now are fine. Every other question can be easily answered by reading the summary posted in the announcements on the main server, relay, and lore discord.

This is the issue. Surgeons are supposed to be a job which fills an incredibly narrow, but required, niche in medical. The wiki job guide for surgeon is about a paragraph, because you can easily sum up their duties and responsibilities that quickly, and adding anything further would simply be filler taken from other pages like the overall guide to surgery. Because of this niche and the lack of real work most of the time, surgeon is the most played medical occupation, but nearly always played in a way where it bridges over to also fulfilling the duties of Physician since there's rarely one. This occupation merge would just be codifying the most popular playstyle in medical that has been present since I first joined and was playing 4 rounds a day in the department. For that reason, I support it.

While it seems people are against redzones on the Horizon, I can think of several ways we could use redzones in event maps. So even if they are never on the Horizon, I'd still like them added in some form where mappers can use them.

unathi [Accepted] Diggey's Lizzer application (*bellow)
Triogenix replied to Diggey's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Could you expand on this section a little more by picking 3-4 points and explaining how you'd acknowledge that point in roleplay while on the Horizon as a Unathi? As an example, as Women and Men have cultural expectations, a Unathi may view male doctors with distrust, preferring to be treated by female doctors. Which surname is on her ID card? And, does she consistently use a surname that is different from what's on her ID card? Can you expand on the why part of this a little more? Was it because the queendom viewed a child growing up in the wasteland to be an issue that they should help solve? or what? Both Atmospheric Tech and Engineer require atleast a Bachelors degree or I believe 7 years of experience. If you want to eventually move this character up to either position and not wait 5 years, I'd rework this section. Having them currently studying for a Hephaestus Sponsored degree after passing a qualification examine would work. Also what does "so-so flying colors" mean? If you have any confusion about questions I've asked, feel free to reach out on discord for clarification. -
Hi, I'm back with more questions because I'm curious. 1. How do you see the nationalization of megacorporate assets within Sol affecting the political state of the alliance and it's economy? 2. What are your thoughts on megacorporations and the attempts made to make them unique?(I.E, the Heph employees buying into stock, or ZH with their faceplates and rent-a-limb programs) 3. The Alliance and J Federation are beginning to be allies in more than name again, with the Alliance leaning heavily on the Federation for support refitting it's fleets and travel in the wildlands, as the warp gates gifted to the Alliance by the federation and EE. With this said, where would you like see this relationship going in the future? 4. With the phoron scarcity currently ongoing, many Human factions have He3 and warp drives within their borders, or a large amount of phoron(Elyra). How do you see the scarcity impacting these nations in a meaningful way? 5. In conjunction with the question above, what do you believe the primary impacts of the scarcity should be, for the whole spur?

Rationing Begins as Food Shortage Hits Early this morning, at a planned time, the Hegemon himself spoke to the nation over the radio, as peasants and nobles alike crowded around to hear him. He said the following: Immediately after the speech ended, and the food storages had been secured, members of the Master of River’s staff began to quantify food supplies in every major city, moving more to those who had too little, and away from those who had too much under armed guard. Members are confident that if all goes as planned, there will be enough food to make it over the year long period before the farms of Ouerea are producing at the necessary amount. Further information was also released after the speech by High Speaker Seleta Sarnac, who read a decree, signed by the Hegemon himself, that throughout the Hegemony it is now a extreme offense to steal food, punishable by between 15-20 years of hard labor, and those lords who swore fealty to the Hegemon are required to enforce this by word of mouth and claw. Those caught attempting theft of food, but did not complete the act, should have placed on them a fine and recommended counseling with a shaman of their choosing under Th’akh or Sk’akh. In addition to these new protections placed upon foodstuffs, the Master of Rivers spoke about how food will be distributed across the lands. All clans will be required to register themselves and all their members with a local representative of the Hegemon, who will oversee the distribution of food. Registration will include being given a card with dates of the month to come pick up food, what the food will be, and having a photo of the cardholder member to ensure none cheat the system. Those who wish may get a second copy of the photo to be framed and kept at home.

DanseMacabre's Human Lore Deputy Application
Triogenix replied to Kintsugi's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I had thought the megacorporate things had been added in post-canonization application by the human team and Mofo, which is something I could have easily checked instead of making a false assumption. My apologies. Yes, and my concern is you may give out similar answers as a deputy. It's something incredibly minor in the scheme of things, but my personal opinion is, while members of the team need to fill in blanks all the time, we should always try to preface them by saying that they're not on the wiki, and therefore not really canon, but a principle of how the team operates in it's writing. Using the corporate ships as an example again, yes, one could say Corporate AS vessels will get bodied by an actually military vessel and have it be right, but, again personally, I would rather it be "when we're writing, we assume that military vessels will heavily outmatch corporate AS vessels, even though this is mentioned nowhere on the wiki". It's just a minor personal thing that has already taken up too much of your effort and time as an applicant , and for this, I also apologize. -
Round two. I'm doing this in a similar way to the way I did it on danse's application, feedback and observations, followed by some questions. The Good: I think the best thing I've observed that makes you a good fit for being human deputy is that while you constantly discuss lore with members of the team in staff channels, you know your limits. As you mention in your application, you know that as an administrator you walk a fine line between interference and help when it comes to lore, and while I've been on the team you haven't overstepped that line at all. This leads me to believe you'll know your limits as a deputy as well, and not overstep them and create issues within the team. In addition, it also leads me to hope you'll be involved with more teams beyond the human team, as I for one, view pinballing around the channels at breakneck speed discussing lore with most of the teams to be a benefit. In the end this is a cooperative writing experience, and the more members of the lore team who discuss a piece of lore, the better it tends to be in my eyes. Most of the other things I would mention you have already been mentioned by yourself or others, and so for the sake of brevity I am going to move onto my fears/concerns. Fears/Concerns: I think my biggest concern has to do with some previous discussion I've had with you surrounding game mechanics, primarily balance. While I believe now that you were correct in most of your statements, I felt like you were being rather abrasive and harsh/blunt during the discussion. While I admit this could have just been my perception and saltiness at the time, and myself being relatively new to the server, my concern is that while you might have good ideas for lore and writing, it may be difficult to explain not only those ideas, but your reasoning for implementing them in a way that does not make the person on the other side of the screen bristle. While no-one is perfect at presenting their views(Just yesterday me and Luka were discussing something before realizing we were thinking pretty much the same thing but presenting it in different ways), when the way a person presents their views has a tendency to make people annoyed, it can turn 30 minute discussions into day long slogs that no-one wants to participate in. I can't recall a recent time where I've discussed game or lore related things with you to a large extent, so I have nothing more recent to compare this to sadly(and I'm not going to drudge through logs to look for any recent discussions we've had). I hope that if you are accepted you are cordial with the team as other feedback suggests you will be, and believe I may have this concern only due to the fact I have not interacted with you much outside of times when I was newer to the server and rather bitter about certain things. My second concern is something that's very subjective, and difficult for me to put into words. Essentially, what I am worried about is if this application is accepted, the acceptance may be viewed as influenced by your position and relationship with the lore team by some. As you mention in your application, due to your position you've been able to edit, write, review, and discuss lore with the lore team in staff-only chats, something that is not available to regular players. My fear is that people may view this as unfair, given that you've never held a writing position on the server, but have the ability to interact closely with the team in a way they can't. On top of this, you are seemingly very good friends with both Omi, the person you'd be replacing, and Schwann, your would-be fellow deputy. Personally, I don't think it should matter, you've demonstrated that you don't abuse your position to ghost write with friends on the human team, and are an incredibly helpful person to have in the lore chats not only as an administrator, but doing minor things to help out one of the most bogged down teams. If anything, I view this as another good thing, it shows you're willing to help if someone else needs it, even if it's not normally what you do. However, I realize not everyone may think this way, so I am still concerned. Questions: Finally onto the questions. 1. To start, when it comes to your writing, what do you think the strongest and weakest parts are? 2. With the scarabs, do you see them being a multi-faction fleet that generally all follows the same culture that has a mini-political thunderdome, or each mini-fleet having a different culture as well as political stances? 3. While I agree that developing the warlords is something that should be done, where do you place it on a scale of priority compared to say, Off-worlders, Venus, and other non developmental work? 4. Last but not least, what are your thoughts on Ouerea and the human population there? Good luck on your application!(Trio don't use While 1000 times in writing challenge, impossible difficulty)

DanseMacabre's Human Lore Deputy Application
Triogenix replied to Kintsugi's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Hello. It's good to see your application, and it was probably the most expected by me. I want to outline my thoughts on your application, and then ask a few questions about some of your answers and other things. The Good: You're probably one of the most consistently active players on the server, regularly both engaging with lore and the game. Your willingness to volunteer for events is always nice, and you generally understand how to take something and build a story off of it. I think you'd be amazing to the human team for writing articles, and creating factions which can be used for stories in interesting ways. You can also map, sprite and implement ideas into the game rather well. Your thinking in recognizing strengths and weaknesses also helps in writing a lot. Probably most importantly, you can thoughtfully explain why you hold certain positions, and if another person disagrees with you, accept that disagreement at face value instead of attempting to argue your side for 8 hours and make discussing things with you a slog. My hope is that if this application is accepted, this characteristic will make it incredibly easy to understand your position and reach compromises with other members quickly. However, I have some other thoughts on this that will be expanded in the other section. Lastly, I think you can recognize your own biases and dislikes, which is something that's important going into writing with your free time in my opinion. It allows you to lessen the probability of burnoff by knowing you might not enjoy writing a specific piece of lore, but that if you write it, you can continue onto something you do enjoy. I hope you can keep this in mind, given what I am about to say in the next section. The Fears/Concerns: I think my biggest concern is that you will burnout and slowly stop contributing the longer you spend on the team. This is for two reasons: Firstly, the rude criticism you received which bordered on nothing but insults on your last application. Human lore, for a number of reasons, tends to be a team which gets incredibly rude and sometimes insulting feedback of their writing from the playerbase. This is not a "Oh the players fucking suck!!!" from me, merely a statement of fact. I personally contributed to insulting feedback and rudeness towards the human lore team as a player, so I cannot judge others for doing the same. I believe this will happen to every writer and team at some point, but happens to the human team at a much higher rate then others. Given your response to said insults/criticism on your last application, withdrawing it from the pool, I am afraid that there will be similar results when you face such a response again in your position as deputy, leading you to either disavow the piece you were working on, or the responsibilities of your position. Second is the mostly handled, but still monumental task of maintaining human lore. While Schwann and Lain have done most of the herculean task of dismembering old and outdated lore, there is still a large amount that needs to be handled, including the entire subspecies of off-worlders. I think my main concern is that you will become bored with rewriting factions and no longer wish to contribute to them, preferring to focus on merely what you wish to write about, or transplant things you enjoy into writings instead of coming up with something wholly original. Using the example of offworlders, writing about offworlders who use a slightly different culture imported from another human planet nearly unchanged, rather then a brand new faction with unique cultures compared to the rest of lore. Beyond that concern, returning to my point about compromises, I think you have one issue, and that is compromising on things you believe to be full narrative flaws. For example, in your writing I am worried you may frown upon utilizing corporations as driving forces because of your personal dislike for them, when it might be what is best for the setting and the interactivity with the Horizon. This also ties into recognizing the silver lining of corporations, and that others may enjoy things you do not. Lastly, a minor thing, and more of a pet peeve to myself. Many times you will mention things that are assumed or taken in context are true canon and set in stone on the wiki. The biggest of these I see from you is the "Corporate Asset protection vessels are less powerful then the military vessels of nations." While this is normally how we try to write, I personally frown on outright statements this as canon with a position in the lore team, when there's no true backing from the wiki(if there is, my apologies). However, this is a simple thing to change, just having saying, "While this isn't necessarily canon, we on the team try to write with....", and isn't really a big concern, more of a personal one. The Questions: We're finally to this part. 1. When it comes to facing rude/insulting criticism and responses to your work, do you have any plans or ideas on how you will handle this type of criticism when you encounter it as a deputy without reclusing yourself from the community and your position? 2. When it comes to megacorporations, they will most likely remain the primary focus of our setting, with characters being employees. With that said, many megacorporation's have facets which differentiate from the rest of the corporations, for example, Hephaestus employees are regularly encouraged to buy stock in the company, for better or for worse, and the company culture attempts to make it as a family. However, these cultures tend to be toned down or ignored by characters, so that they may work in the company while having views which may be opposite from it. Do you believe these cultures should be more forceful in application to make megacorporations more than soulless money machines, or have them remain where they are? 3. When it comes to the Scarabs, how would you integrate them more into our lore, generally? 4. When it comes to Sol, how do you see the nationalization of megacorporate assets affecting the Solarian political state and economy? Detailed or generally. 5. Lastly, would you be willing to sometimes assist other teams in mapping and coding? Apologies for the length, I tried to be concise as possible while still getting my feedback across. I wish you the best on your application, and may ask several more questions as I think of them. -
Hegemonic Navy Combts Smuggling through Military Incursion Translated into Tau Ceti Basic Scenes like this one have been all too common in the recent days in orbit of Moghes, as smugglers burn hard towards the surface with untaxed goods, intent on selling to degenerate bidders under the snout of the Hegemon. Despite the noble efforts of the Hegemonic Navy, many have been succeeding in reaching the surface, most landing in the Wasteland or by Aut’akh communities where watchmen cannot descend on them and their ill-gotten goods to deal out the Hegemon’s justice. Several communities and common landing sites have been raided, resulting in seizures of goods and personnel, but since the landings at Tzonia earlier this month, no ringleaders have been captured. Those captured in these raids have been sentenced to hard labor in the Wasteland near the Torn Cities, toiling in the mines for the betterment of the Hegemony. Naval commanders have blamed this on the differing sizes of vessels, with the Hegemonic patrols built around the three super dreadnoughts, and the smugglers using small, atmospheric capable ships to avoid, or outrun, their defenses. These brazen tactics have been successful for the smugglers, as even with their thrusters at full burn, the ships of our navy cannot catch up to the quicker smugglers' shuttles, resulting in the necessity of gunnery, something which one officer said has been neglected over the years. After all, the same officer said, the ship is supposed to be the bullet, ramming into other ships. Lord-Admiral Yizarus is known to be incredibly frustrated with these failures, and has already stripped 5 ships of their gunnery officers; he has mandated comprehensive gunnery drills for his fleet, at the advice of Lord’s Claw Mizaruz Izweski. The Lord Admiral was caught on camera admonishing his own gunnery officer for failing to destroy a smuggler's shuttle. Sadly, a translation into Tau Ceti Basic is not available. These failures have resulted in smuggling going essentially unimpeded, with only three smugglers for every ten being intercepted, and only a third the time resulting in destruction or capture. City watchmen have been working around the clock in an attempt to fight this at a local level, yet most criminals and vagabonds looking to evade Hegemonic law have begun to use mobile shops, slipping into cities to make sales, before ducking back out to the Wasteland, where pursuit is difficult. Nevertheless, we stand with our brave and loyal city watchmen, and navy personnel, Honor, Fire, Burn thy fear!

Food Shortages Expected and Inevitable? Translated into Tau Ceti Basic A joint report by the Fisherman’s League, medical guilds, hunter guilds, and aquaculture guilds from all over Moghes, which was requested by the Hegemon a few weeks ago has finally been released. The purpose of the report was to ascertain the effects the current scarcity will have on food production and availability and what steps might be taken to mitigate any potential issues. As many know, since the Contact War and the required bolstering of aquaculture, food supplies have been mediocre, with the looming threat of famine ever present. However, this report states that with the inability to acquire much more food from the spur, or even produce our own through cloning techniques, unless measures are taken to mitigate it, the Hegemony will face a full on famine as food supplies will only be enough to feed roughly three-fourths of the population. The report then goes on to propose a solution, strict rationing under the supervision of forces loyal to the Hegemon alone, could provide those critical to the Hegemony and its industries enough food, while farms on the untouched planet of Ouerea are expanded to make up production. Many guilds, including Hephaestus Industries, have promised to help expand the Ouerean farms for compensation from the Hegemon. The planned expansion would budget most of the land around and within the Trizkizki Sea, the Azareazi Sea, and the Yuaz Sea for aquaculture and farming. It is said that the hands of the Hegemon are currently debating the merits of both the report and the proposed solution. The Synod of Scales is also debating the merits of the proposal and discussing what Ouerea’s new role in the Hegemony would be if they accepted with the planetary Overlord. We will keep our readers appraised of any further developments.

WhatsUpBrotendo Skrell Dev App
Triogenix replied to WhatsUpBrotendo's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Apologies for any formatting issues I’m mobile posting. Brotendo has been a blast to work with on the team, and I have no doubt he’d be an amazing pick for maintainer. He’s even headed, consistent, constantly reaches out to other teams when their species are involved in his writers, and has good ideas for skrell. Consider this an endorsement. However I still want to ask questions, so here’s a few: 1. In your app you mention that you dislike the isolationist nature of the federation and wish to see it expand relations through politics with other states. I agree with you on this point, but am curious about a potential part of this. Due to the federations views on synthetics, do you think you would approach the IPC team to ask about curtailing rights for positronics in nations which the federation is trying to expand relations with? Why or why not? 2. What aspect of being a species maintainer are you most nervous about, if there is one? 3. Lastly, relating to your dislike of the federations status in the spur; do you see the federation losing its position as sole superpower under your leadership as maintainer, or do you see them just weakening but maintaining their position? good luck! -
Advanced Naval Vessels Assigned to Extended Defense Duties around Moghes Translated to Tau Ceti Basic After a month of speculation, another Hand of the Hegemon has stepped forward to speak to a crowd of nobles, and this time, admirals of our powerful space fleet. Lord’s Claws Mizaruz Izweski took the podium today, and made the following announcement: The response to the speech was muted, with admirals seemingly already aware of this change, and nobles muttering to each other. With this announcement, much of the Hegemony’s striking power has been rendered useless, stuck in defensive positions. It is unclear what position this puts the Hegemony in, as tensions between our neighbor state of Dominia escalates and the detente with Elyra remains uneasy. Whatever the future holds in store, may the spirits guide us on the right path.

Head of Security begone: Long live the Chief of Security.
Triogenix replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Archive
My thoughts are rather simple. My only complaint was that we already had a CSO executive level position as Schwann said, however, Arrow offered a better alternative to the name, that's more in line with the other executive positions, Chief Security Director. As for the name Chief Security Officer being seen as middle management, I disagree, I see it as lower management, which is exactly what it is. While we are on the flagship of the SCC, the current HoS is the leader of a department of 4 officers, 2 investigators, a warden, and potentially two cadets. At most, this is 9 people. While I do understand people see command as higher management, given we rarely see, and only sometimes hear via fax, actual management, but I think it's important to remember their position. Leading a department is the lowest level of management besides possibly bridge crew, above them they have the captain who is maybe the start of middle management, who in turn has the entirety of sector administration above them who I think are the real middle management(I.E, the Sector Security Manager). Sector administrators themselves(not the people under them who make up their administration) are the start of upper management IMO, going to the board of directors. This is all based off of this chart, from the NT page. I know we're with the SCC now but this is the closest thing we have in lore to a chain of command. I'm making the assumption we will continue to work off of this, with a few obvious changes given the fact that it has a completely different board of directors, because it's what we've used in the past, and we're keeping CCIA. If this assumption is wrong, I apologize. Also, I know that command is commanding the flagship project of the SCC, but why would they have a different title to the security manager at the smallest SCC installation? It'd be like if the sales manager at flashship store was suddenly the manager of sales, while every other store had a sales manager. Tl;dr - I don't think there's any basis for being against the renaming because it doesn't sound high management enough, because it's not high management, it's lower. I can understand disliking it from a purely subjective point of view, due to aesthetics and personal preference as gem did in their post, but saying it sounds like a lower/middle management title means it's perfect in my eyes. -

Hi, thanks for applying, I really like this backstory and it seems you've put alot of thought into it, which makes sense given how many questions you've asked in the past few weeks. However, I still have a few questions for you about your character. 1) You mention that Hossl was agreeable and diligent during training, but what do they think about the human megacorporations? Are they good/bad, or evil in his eyes? Especially Hephaestus Industries 2) Besides reading old texts, does Hossl have any hobbies he does in his free time? 3) The warriors code leaves alot of wiggle room for the player, how does Hossl's personality impact how he follows the code? Is he ruthless, merciful, strategic, etc.? -
Yea, as Carver said nothing new is being added, this is just renaming an existing procedure. And the rename makes sense, I give a +1
