Opinions on the Clown/Wrestler NukeOps from this morning
Garnascus replied to FluffyBirb's topic in General
Granted I wasn't really paying attention during this round when it happened but... I only recall about three players tops who where angry about it, including evilbrage. I feel like the majority understand exactly what you posted here. -

Maybe it would help the discussion if some logs got posted? It would help if we could figure out where the problem started (if any). -

Hello there! I define grief, as well as my fellow team. Releasing the singularity and atmos meddling is grief. I have banned quite a few people for it. These tongue in cheek arguments aren't really helping..... -
Brayce's Head of Staff Application

Kept a bit of an eye on you for the past few days and checked my memory for what i could remember of Oliver roadman. Good roleplayer and doesn't stir up OOC. You get a vote from me. -
Opinions on the Clown/Wrestler NukeOps from this morning

I actually will use "if it happened all the time" excuse. I am, and this community is intelligent to know where the line is. The same reasoning I use to justify the thunderdome that happened a while ago. Its actually fairly easy... I think, its healthy to have the atmosphere "dumped on" as you put it. At least every now and then. -

The cringiest part about it was the uproar against it, my thing is that yeah we are a high roleplay server but silly rounds like this every now and then are fine. I just don't think its that big a deal and I don't have a particularly strong opinion either way. It would be one thing if antags or nuke ops consistently did this i agree but.... I think its unreasonable to pretend we all would had more fun if the new cops bombed the armory/the bridge/cargo and then... Shot security/ERT. -
This thread is now being monitored by the cyber police, your memes will not save you.....

OK, lets start off with my reasoning for the EoR rule. I admit its a rule we very rarely punish for. Almost always its someone getting into a little first fight or starting one and we just note/warn them about not doing it in the future. In this case, i logged on and one of the first things i saw was chaz lasering hypatia to death. Now firing lethals against someone like that was in my mind too over the line to just say "dont do that again" as the rule does state a 3-day ban is the punishment. The context.... the incident earlier in the round with the harm batonning and what not...may change this, i admit im a bit conflicted. I have never been keen on enforcing the rules blindly, i think context is important but HOW important?

Yeah, its beyond stupid. Especially when it has the directives about a bluespace disease. Give always wanted emergency shuttles to face a firing squad.

Brayce's Head of Staff Application
Garnascus replied to Brayce's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
As it looks like you made a forum account for this application (which is fine) it should be noted you can advertise a link to your application in OOC chat once per round. We need a decent amount of feedback before we can say yes/no for a whitelist -
[Denied] Unban request (Two in one)

I only banned you for three days..The ban is not going to be lifted im sorry. Your antag ban will actually expire by the time your server ban does. -
[Denied] Unban request (Two in one)
Garnascus replied to MetaphysicalPersona's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Well no, i dont say its all you do. its just a consistent problem with you thats far over the line of being reasonable IC. I agree that things change once you get to know the person but it gets to a point where its not possible to continue justifying repeated dealings with security (being brigged). Conflict is fine, even getting brigged every now and then for the odd bar fight is fine. When its happening almost every round and you consistently breach corporate regulations? it becomes "self-antagging" I have personally witnessed a great deal of this but since you had active DO things against you and the medication thing i figured id let it go IC. Im sorry but it gets to a point where its just unreasonable regardless of RP. The best thing you can do to avoid this in the future is ahelp and ask if you can steal something because reason X. -
The following is chaznoodle's words, not my own. 'The detective was politely warned for their actions, and did nothing further, instead being a loyal and contributing member of the security force whom I was happy to work alongside. On the other hand, you. I can say that you were disruptive and rude, with comments including but not limited to "fucking retard" and "go die". I asked you repeatedly to stop but you refused, instead continuing your tirade even when other officers told you to stop. Not only limited to this, you blitzed into a hostage situation, albeit with other security members, and lasted two hostages to death along with a couple of shots on myself, before murdering two of the three hostage takers whom I was negotiating peacefully with. You then proceeded to blame the entire occurence on me, stating that you were the only officer brave enough to speak out, whilst the other officers were asking you to be quiet. You created situations in which you were to blame, but instead cherry picked to suit yourself. I would have been happy to make a report against you, but I was happy enough to give you another chance, seeing as I had never interacted with your decidedly snowflakey shell before. I won't be making that mistake again. I'd politely ask for this complaint to be deleted rather than locked, as to not smirch my name with this delightful ignorance.' End of chaznoodle's words.

[Denied] Unban request (Two in one)
Garnascus replied to MetaphysicalPersona's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Ill only be speaking for the ban i placed on you and not the antag ban as thats another staff members area. I placed the three day ban on you not for this incident alone, in fact its relatively minor by itself. The problem here is your character seon consistently toes the line between self-antagging and just...questionable RP, not at all the kind of behavior that would be indicative of an employee of nanotrasen. Your character seems to always find a reason to get locked in the brig for either fighting, stealing, disobeying orders, etc etc. You have even had levies against your character by our duty officers to try to curb it IC. that, seemingly has had only partial success. Everyone gets into conflict now and then but it gets to a point where it gets so absurd and consistent that the argument that i hate to use "your character would never be employed here" becomes valid. -
Chaz is currently banned from the forums but ive added him on skype to copy/paste his reasoning here. I will post it shortly.

Nope, If there are no further comments ill lock this within 24 hours as both parties appear to have resolved the issue.

Aniel (AI)/Bonded Gunner Complaint
Garnascus replied to Rusty Shackleford's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Right, there are some things that i need to clear up first. On our server all laws have equal priority. the law you uploaded was equal to the other 4 laws the AI operated on. You also did not state in your law that "all other laws are overridden" nor did you apply a purge on the AI first so that your freeform law would be the only law the AI would be operating on. Informing the rest of command of your PDA purge could under the AI's interpretation be "serving the crew" and if he followed your order it could create a law conflict. What an AI does during a law conflict is...up to them mostly, so long as they provide good reasoning. The AI had to operate under 5 laws all equal in priority. Even if every order you gave was "for the greater good of the station" that doesn't necessarily absolve all law conflicts. Could the AI have gone with you and done exactly as you said? yeah it could have and perhaps that part of your complaint about him fighting you is valid... but there is a degree of responsibility on yourself for not explicitly overriding all other laws or purging them before uploading a free form law. -
I am going to be honest here, as someone now helping out tish with whitelists. I have seen your character a lot in game playing as a geneticist, even interacted with them on some of my head characters. You give yourself powers every single round, skirt the regulations or fight it if a head tells you not to, and most importantly you toe the line between vigilantism and outright validhunting just because you have OP powers. You consistently abuse genetics powers i think, in fact whenever you have hulk you seem to use it as an excuse to disregard all sense of self-preservation, Pain or fear RP. You can argue some of this is an IC issue, and some of it is. However i cant say im comfortable endorsing this application.

Hypnotoad's Head Application
Garnascus replied to Hypnotoad's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Howdy hypnotoad, you need a bit more feedback on your app before we can make a decision. remember you can advertise your app in OOC once per round. -
Is it still a necro if it was your thread to begin with? Perhaps alchemy is involved....

Alright, ive heard all i think i need to with regards to this complaint. The nature of this particular rev round got hectic REAL FAST. Posting a -1 on your whitelist following a questionable experience with you after a rev round, while debatable is of course callabaddie's right. Keep in mind Ove that the final decision for whitelist's rests with staff. What is important is how you respond to the criticism. Getting defensive and posting a complaint is a bit over the line. Callabaddie, same goes for you. When criticism is levied against you (or any player) its expected they respond properly else it becomes a guessing game of he said she said in trying to muddle through complaints. you posted when asked, but just keep that in mind for the future. Finally, you both dont have to be friends. Nor do you even have to particularly like each other. I do however expect a modicum of decency in disagreements. The nature of this IC spat i think may be a bit of an outlier due to the hectic nature of the RP-rev in question and the lack of (alive) security personel. My advice is we let bygones be bygones here, can we keep the peace a bit?

I cant help but echo what jacboot said, two captains out of...a hundred is a drop of water in the ocean. I think these outlines for the IAA more clearly define the role they play. you kinda have to make work for yourself as an agent now. Which isnt necessarily a bad thing but having some guidelines and protocols like these can only be a benefit.

The ease with which you can hop between departments changes drastically depending on what race you are, or how old your character is. An IPC for example might know security, medical, AND engineering on account of being able to "download" data for the jobs. There's an OOC restriction staff impose on them though, your IC knowledge is limited whatever job you spawned in as. You can, of course always ahelp if you think players might be job hopping a bit too much, its hard to figure out a blanket assessment for all since every character is going to be a little different.
