We could just have it show the round type that wins according to this proposed system. I can understand not wanting to play certain characters for certain round types and I have always really liked a system like this in similar games. Gives that one person voting voting wizard or ninja a chance.

If you see a problem/rule violation occur and you dont ahelp then you are contributing to the problem. Staff are not omniscient. Although our protocol for ahelps has very recently changed. We can now report back to the original ahelper about what we did and our reasoning for it. In the past we would just say "its been dealt with" which I agree can be incredibly frustrating.

Well the problem with that scenario delta is if staff tell you to stop then there is no "arguing for hours" it stops or we mute them, simple. Ideally its stopped before a blacklist even needs to be used.

I do not feel scientists handing out weapons and hunting atags is a large enough issue to warrant such a game mechanic. If scientists ARE doing this then its very likely an OOC issue and should be ahelped as we have rules against powergaming and antag hunting.

I don't think players being able to blacklist others so that they can't see their OOC chat is a good idea. I think its too excessive a solution for a problem that has much healthier ways of being handled. Such as PMing the player in question over byond and try to reach some amicable conclusion. I also don't want to see groups forming of "this person has these three muted" and "these two are muted by this guy". If you have a problem with someone talk to them and if they being a Dick ahelp it.

I think the cons outweigh the pros here. We as staff can handle any troublemakers who are toeing the line or being far too aggressive over certain topics. The argument that we are too conservative about doing this has some merit however, we don't outright ban discussions on politics or religion and even trolling and posting memes is fine to an extent. Perhaps this issue is better framed as "is there a point we can agree on that someone should be muted or talked to" and "are staff doing enough to combat it if there is such a problem".

As small as this community is i feel like there's better ways to solve "I don't like what you're saying". Ahelping is a thing or you could try pming them over byond.

I don't think there is any relation to lightscopes and the real scopes. Probably just a coincidence.

The reality is there is more discussion and complaints regarding genetics than the effect genetics ever actually has on rounds. Its already incredibly boring, time consuming, and RNG based to get powers and a large portion of them are undetectable unless you inject yourself to see what they are. Why do we need their to be mechanical repercussions to powers? It would be one thing if atags where constantly getting robusted by Dr. Xavier's institute of mutants but... That rarely happens. You have on average as a geneticist 2 to three hours to play with getting powers and that's assuming you make a beeline for the gene lab and have no trouble getting hyronalin to speed up research. Also genetic defects are a thing. Blindness is the only one you can test for and then its hoping you get lucky to find out which block that one is too. By the the time you get enough powers an hour or more of the round has passed if you're lucky and then you have to repeat it all next round. The frustration people may feel by the presence of these powers pales in comparison to what its actually like being a geneticist. The RP and indeed the mechanical repercussions are enough to serve as limiters. Also your suggestion on adding "powers" to mitigate the defect check. Literally nobody would test it as you say as they would serve to artificially lengthen and increase the already absurd amount of luck and time required.

Im fine with lifting your ban so long as this sort of thing isnt repeated. at the very least if you ever think you might have IC justification to do something you should ahelp about it and ask. there have been times we have let things slide as long as people ask permission.

I mean hes not /wrong/ in saying an admin/mod or something should be contacted but... I think its important to examine intent first before you enforce a rule and i really feel like you weren't stepping over the line here.

the mechanics and ease of getting in are irrelevant here. its straight up against the rules for a non-antag barring SEVERE extenuating circumstances. You are free to do it whenever you are an antag. You may feel justified doing this as a non-antag but the bottom line is its straight up against server rules, no debate is going to solve that.

Having a criminal backround is fine, even using that as an excuse to commit a SMALL crime every now and again is also fine. Using it as an excuse to break into one of the most secure places on the station and commit grand theft is NOT fine. you would be terminated from employment because of this and sent to prison because of that. do you understand why we limit this kind of thing to our antags? If everyone on the server is looking for opportunity to horribly breach corporate regulations and do stuff like this then we cant really call ourselves a high-rp server.

Hey man, if i recall during this incident. you werent antag at the time so this is unfortunately INCREDIBLY over the line and coupled with your history at the time i felt a perma-ban was justified. What do you think self-antagging is now? why do you think its so over the line for a non-antag to break into the captains office and steal items?

Only an admin would have had the power to do that for you, mods cant. either an admin didn't notice the ahelp or there wasn't one on at the time. Also ahelping for help with RP isnt even close to ahelping about a problem you had with the player doing it in the first place. If you had ahelped that you werent happy with what alberyk had done to you then we might have been able to go from their.

Hello, I have been keeping my eye on this player for a bit. a little bit before and after the complaint started. I have examined and looked at each and every piece of evidence, consulted with his notes/warnings history. When i initially told Madpredar3 of this complaint against him in-game he seemed to me to be feel quite bad about him perhaps ruining fun or rounds for other players. He posted a swift reply and of some of the things posted here that he has warnings to i feel he has given a decent explanation to the charges levied against him. Most importantly of all though, let me be clear. If this where another player its entirely possible they would have been banned by now. In this case the player has done an exceptional job of communicating with me and other staff through ahelps about "is it wrong to X or should i have done Y or is it fun for people to Z". I am beyond convinced that he has shown a willingness and a desire to improve the more sour parts of his play and i really dont think he will be a problem in the future. I think intent behind actions is incredibly important and its a large part of what made me decide this. i also asked the opinions of other staff in msay about this and no objections where raised. Obviously an eye will be kept on him still and i intend to explain this to him fully and hope he continues to ahelp about things hes unsure of (like anyone should).

Nah, not much for me to say that others havent said. I think its an important risk to engaging in combat and another layer you have to consider when you go hacking doors or get into lasers fights.

do not even try to paint this like we are playing favorites here. You made a CHARACTER COMPLAINT with evidence of a /single instance/ of screwing around. what do you want us to do? crucify him? strip him of his whitelist? we dont just hand those punishments out willy nilly. ive said here that this issue would have been much better handled by asking nicely in LOOC for him to stop while you are still roleplaying. Or if i had seen it i would have asked alberyk to not do that to others still RPin as it can be kinda immersion breaking.
