Elyra News Network “For Greatness, We Strive” Minister Tatenda Approves 1.29.2458 Minister Tatenda Approves This afternoon, earlier than we expected, Prime Minister Tatenda announced that the Synthetic Tagging bill has been approved by him and is going into effect immediately. Both him and his advisers agreed that it is needed and has massive public support. We have been asked to put this on our report for this, "All Unbound Synthetic Units are to report to their place of employment or local government building for tagging. Failure to do so will result in immediate detainment and forced tagging. Once you are tagged, you are to report back to your normal duties. The tag does not prohibit you in anyway." This news of the tagging has made many of the Elyran citizens release a sigh of relief. There are many easy ways for you to identify and IPC now. If you look around their neck, there is a collar that says "Unbound Unit". This tag applies for any type of IPC. We are still open for question requests and we will try to get the questions answered. Sol Council Completed Ending at 4:00 Persepolis Standard Time, Minister Nabil released a report on the results of the meetings that took place in the Sol Alliance. It is how many people expected, it was based around the Synthetic issues and how to go about containing the issue. So far, many of the nations believe that there is no need for there to be a "Kill Switch" at this time. Even if others go for the switch, Elyra will stick with tagging unless reason arises to do otherwise. The Kill Switch too was a big issue brought up, mostly of the issues that may come up with the implementation of the switch and the uproar it will cause. For now, Elyra is a definite no.

Alright, I have read through the lore. I am liking how it is turning out. Especially with the addition of all the extra history. Haven't really looked at it deeply enough to find anything too bad with it right now. Also, are those faiths new? I thought they used to just be called Atheists or something.

Elyra News Network “For Greatness, We Strive” Synthetic Bill Passed 1.28.2458 Synthetic Bill Passed Over the past 10 days, there have been debates going on inside of the Elyra Parliament, this morning however, the Parliament announced that a bill putting restrictions on the Unbound Synthetics. So far, not many details have been released and the bill is being sent for approval by Prime Minister Tatenda. If Tatenda decides to approve the bill, the law will go into effect. Many speculators believe that we may be moving towards tagging Unbound Synthetics like Biesel has been successful in implementing. There really is no way to know for sure at this time. Hopefully we will find out by either late tomorrow or early Saturday. Mending Relations With Sol Yesterday morning was the beginning of a diplomatic convention located in the heart of the Sol Alliance. Many of the larger Human nations were seated in the meetings. Minister Nabil was sent to Sol by the Prime Minister to represent Elyra. The main reason that the meeting was called was for the Unbound Synthetic issues that have been arising across many of the Human nations. Most of the time, these meetings aren't for enacting things but more of trying to keep many of the Humans on the same page, this one is specific has been called for many of the nation's appointed representatives to debate about the issues with the Synthetics. From what we have been told so far is that almost all of the representatives are fully supportive of the taggings. We assume that the "Kill Switch" that was an issue in the Sol Alliance will be brought up. Minister Nabil is very much against the kill switch. Results of the meetings will be released soon.

I don't know, this is something that most of my characters wouldn't allow. Maybe for like CSI or Detective. But if you are wearing this as an Officer or Warden I would tell you to get into uniform.

In response to Xander, it shouldn't change characters THAT drastically as the Captain and Head of Security should be constantly doing their best to keep Corporate interests in mind and working to do their best for the company. I can see where the issue may come in during a nuclear round buuuuut. If you could make the argument that it is in Nanotrasen's best interests if you surrender as it keeps the NSS Aurora still in working condition and costs less than the entire crew dying and the station destroyed. I am too, against loyalty implants for the Captain and Head of Security. The more I think, Internal Affairs probably should have it because as far as I know, they do not go through as much training as the Heads of Staff do and they have access to quite a bit of sensitive information along with a direct line to Central Command. At this time, I think Internal Affairs should be loyalty implanted of some sort.
-
The thing is, characters that are in roles where they are implanted and have the capacity to bring harm to the Nanotrasen should know right from wrong without the needing of a forced implant that pulls them to do one thing over another. I would think that Nanotrasen would trust their staff, especially a Captain that has been through extensive training and knows what they should be doing, to not go and do shit that would fuck up their name. I just don't feel they would be necessary honestly.

Alright, that is good. I will keep an eye out for those characters and then say something here if I feel you can handle a whitelist.

Outboarduniform's second Head Whitelist
Owen replied to Outboarduniform's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I don't know about this. I have witnessed Juan Siganto being in Security for a little while now. From what I can tell, he doesn't care. He doesn't care about anything. He doesn't have an attitude that I feel is needed to be a Head of Security. Now, if any of their other characters are different and Siganto is meant to be played like that than yes, I would be fine with the Whitelist as long as Siganto is not a Head of Security. -
Actually, if someone would, please mark this as denied for now. I am planning on reworking the entire thing after having an idea about what I could do with it. I will hopefully get this thing sorted out and send it up for approval again.

Staff Complaint: SierraKomodo, AimlessAnalyst, DO Corps
Owen replied to Ove's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Getting rid of my post because Gollee made a way better case than I did in my opinion. -
How about this, we start the conversation over there and when we think we got something we bring it over here. It is how most issues are handled in those forums.

That dynasty thing is a good idea. I think I am going to have it changed to that. With the blandness thing, I was hoping someone would either be able to help with that or, I could rewrite it to be more of a story type thing and less pure facts. Not really sure how I would go about making it more interesting. Go more indepth about its history and not like you are reading it from a textbook?

I did it, I finally broke Bokaza But in all seriousness, if you think I should, I could change their government type. Wasn't completely sure on the idea.

Yeah, I actually stopped even having the volume on more recently. I have been having really weird headaches from what I can only assume the ambient sound. It is always weird when I unplug my headphones and realize how weird it sounds. It being a little quieter or something would be nice.

Type Faction Founding/Settlement Date: 2362 Region of Space: Middle to Frontier colonies Controlled by: The Decebal Conglomerate Other Snapshot information: - Frontier Nation - Human - Eastern European culture - Dynasty based Matriarchy (Medium power, has to uphold citizen rights.) - Rising relations with Nanotrasen Long Description: I made this faction mainly because I felt that there really wasn't enough information on the frontier factions and I wanted to breathe some life into the frontier. I want to note, that this is the first time that I have ever written something like this. I am willing to let this be changed in anyway if you bring it up here. Also, please point out anything that you find odd in this. Like I said, first time doing something like this. I also have yet to decide on a name for any of the members of the Government. This is just an outline, I would like to make this seem more real rather than something that you would read in a textbook. One final thing, their history is able to be changed completely. Just an idea that I thought up.

Yes, he also job hops a lot from what I have seen. Along with acting in ways that would not keep a person like him hired for a very long period of time. I would suggest trying to develop one character to be not very extreme and play them quite a bit so people can experience good roleplay coming from you. My first character was pretty insane so I canned them and created a new character who was developed. Just a suggestion that may help with getting this application accepted. Also, creating a character who is trained in specific things and sticking to those things help quite a bit in my opinion.
-
I am giving this application a -1 due to the state of your application and the personalities that I have experienced coming from your characters. One the application is fixed, I may consider changing my vote.

I feel honored that I am the topic of 50% of your posts

6bloodocean6 Whitelist for heads.
Owen replied to 6bloodocean6's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I do not support this application whatsoever. I have had very bad experiences with Sunshine Hall. One of those was earlier where she was demoted for completely disregarding the CMO's orders. After the demotion and an explanation of the demotion she started saying, "I hate my life" "I want to die" "All my money goes to the person who lets me die" She then started punching herself to death only stopping after Security stunned her. They would not be at all a good candidate for any whitelist at this time. -1 from me. -
BYOND Key: YouJustGotOwened Character Names: Valorallen Vitellia - Aefia Vitellia - Ri'Kistae Sahir - Zavi Sahir - Ciri Sahir - Ilena Romanescu - Eurail Qu-Tup - Shadow Of The Stars - One Who Walks With Rain Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I like the idea of playing as a synthetic that isn’t bound to the laws like a borg or AI is. It seems like a cool race to have a character that develops over time and sort of emulates the personalities of the people that it interacts with. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: It is a machine, it doesn’t feel emotions in the way that humans do as it doesn’t really have emotions at all. There are some that don’t even bother with trying to emulate emotions and even if they do, there are usually quirks in their personalities. It really depends on what kind of IPC that a person wants to create. If they make an IPC fresh off the assembly lines it may just have a barebone personality. Character Name: VitTech Unit-592 Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs VitTech Unit-5192, Vit for short was manufactured by the company VitTech that is based in the frontier systems. It was created to be part of the now failed attempts of creating an industry Unbound Synthetics business but eventually the branch of the corporation that created the units lost their fundings and sold the units to many other companies for extra cash. Vit along with 49 other units of the same design were sold to Nanotrasen back in 2456 and the units were sent to the Tau Ceti system to be distributed across the company. 592 was placed aboard the NMSS Odin and passed Nanotrasen safety tests. The initial tests revealed that 592 would benefit Nanotrasen if it was placed upon the NSS Aurora to assist with the happenings of the station. It and along with it’s sibling units were created in a way that tried to slightly emulate the emotions of the crew to make them bearable to work with. The emotions emulator is very barebones causing for many quirks with their personalities. What do you like about this character? I like that Vit is an IPC that was created along with many other units with the exact same programming as many other units which makes it not very unique. I like that it is able to develop it’s own personality and it isn’t too extreme of a character. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7 or 8/10 there are some things that I could improve on. Notes: This was sort of an out of the blue application, I have been reading over the lore on IPCs and decided it was time that I made an application to play as one. I am not too familiar with their lore so if you find anything that doesn’t sound right, let me know.
