  1. I'll be brief: Bauser is 100% spot on in both of his posts above. Willow has friends aboard the station, just like you might have at your actual workplace. Someone who you might stick your neck out a little bit extra if something bad were to happen there. Sometimes even when you're wrong. That's interesting roleplay, IMO. I've never seen her straight up trash an antagonist in an unrealistic way or "play the hero" any more than performing the most basic functions of "drag a hurt person to medbay" or "administer emergency first aid" and on many, many of the occasions of antagonists attacking the station, I've seen her fear RP result in hiding somewhere and barricading herself in to keep herself hidden and safe, doing little more than offering other people a place to hide from the danger, which is highly realistic fear RP if you ask me. I think all of the problems here could and should be resolved in a completely positive IC manner, with no need for administrative action OOC of any sort. Just my 2 cents. Bauser said it best, though.
  2. 1) Fact: You do not know what I document. 2) Fact: You do not know the extent of what I document. 3) Fact: Documenting people's public behavior is not against any rule. 4) Fact: Informing people that you are keeping receipts for the shitty things they say to you just after they've said them is also not against any rule. 5) Fact: Most of what I have on record is ALSO on record in the discord, in round logs, and in other places, anyway. 6) Fact: I decide what is WORTHY OF NOTE for me to record in my own personal audit logs. Not you. If a character brings me a tea and has an interesting conversation with me, I might note it. If a player calls me a lying shithead and has an emotional outburst at me... I might note it. I might not. It's none of your business unless I tell you about it. Your assumptions are mostly wrong about what I even record, I promise, and that's not really your business either so, consider that a gift. If someone threatens to murder your character in a canon round, and then they later follow through on that threat for anything other than the most amazing IC reasons, I would see that as grounds for requesting a permanent ban. I'm sorry you disagree. I'm sorry that you take my note-taking as some kind of threat or something entirely negative when I've clearly explained that it isn't. If you don't want to talk about what I keep in my own personal records, then you, and Paradox, should stop bringing it up, because I have no intention of "rubbing it in" anyone's "face" that I keep such records. I think it's pretty lame that you came here with this little hit-piece over pretty much nothing, and spent all that time making screenshots, and posting them OUT OF CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER in order to paint the most negative picture of me, possible. Honestly, I think that kind of behavior is worth a permanent ban, but, it lines up with your previous vendetta-seeking behavior and grudge-holding/misrepresenting the facts to weaponize the administration in your favor, so, I highly doubt any serious note will be taken of it. It's at the very least an epic waste of all of our time. And in closing, the information I choose to keep is my own business except for where I've explicitly let it be known otherwise (which has only been done in response to actions that warranted it, or questions regarding what I keep.)
  3. Sorry for the double-post, but, on a second read of all of this, it *does* seem a little like at least a couple of players here *do* kinda have a meta-grudge thing against me going. Schev probably because I chimed in on what a terrible mod he was, and Paradox probably because I called some of his nearly 30 characters throwaway (which I admit was in bad form, they might actually all be of HRP quality for all I know - my only IC interactions with him that I know about have been poorish, though).
  4. 1) Resilynn pretty much nailed what I was going to say. 2) Re-read that discord. Did I say anything *really* all that bad by comparison to the standard, playful back and forth that goes on there? Really? ... really? 3) I keep a log because: a) I have a bad memory. b) I interact with a lot of characters, and I like to be able to play my characters as though they are mindful of the things that others have told them that are too numerous for me to understand. c) My name/discord ID pops up a lot in the various discords/etc that I'm in. If I didn't keep a record of the stuff people say to me, I'd have to search for it every time to remember who is who... especially when people are switching their discord nicknames frequently because omg that's hilarious. d) Believe it or not, I keep track of other things, too... nice things players have said about me, things to remember about other players like where they are from, which characters like tea as opposed to coffee so I can show up with the right drink to initiate conversation, etc, and up to date information about relations and relationships between characters (who is whose sister/brother, who is dating, etc). I just happen to extend it with OOC info when appropriate for my purposes. Let's take a look at some of the claims here: 1) Schev says: "This is not simple record-keeping. This is a community member that writes down every single detail to interactions with other players and their characters and proudly admits having it catalogued." "JKJudge literally keeps every single player he's had interactions with in an excel document and counts the amount of negative interactions he's had, and also documents all of their characters. He's admitted to this in the past." Response: No. It's simple record keeping. I only jot down the things that are worthy of note, which is not even 1% of what is directed towards me. Also, "literally", "every single"... "admitted" - that's some emotional, weighted language, man. I'm not "admitting" to it. I'm "Describing" it. There's no confession or reluctance here. I keep a log. I've not been told I'm not allowed to, and, because I've been warned about telling people about it, I don't even bring it up, and have only brought it up organically on one occasion, which I'll discuss later. Paradox, Schev, and Sam, are 3 people with less-than-stellar records of interacting with others in discord, in game, and in OOC, so, it isn't really surprising that they'd be upset by someone quietly jotting down their treatment of others. 2) Schev, again: "Rubbing it in people's face that you have an audit log and special notes for specific community members while making veiled threats is a disgustingly toxic way to go about this." - I brought up the audit log on one occasion a long time ago shortly after needing to reference it for something (which I think was the second "joke" that Paradox made about killing my character in a canon round even after I'd asked him not to joke about that because it made me feel like not playing - and is highly a part of the reason you won't see any of my characters in canon rounds, since). People asked questions about it, I answered them. They got more and more upset about this ... apparently unreasonable behavior... and blew it out of proportion from being a simple list of things I'm keeping an eye on into some kind of book of sin that encompasses all of the activities they've ever taken in real life and in game. If you read the ... LOG ... that was taken of discord you'll see that in my responses I'm pretty much avoiding talking about the audit log because I don't want to trigger anyone. 3) Chada this time: "What I think is that JKJudge needs to just calm down and stop reacting violently to harmless jokes. " - violently? I'm afraid I just don't see "violently" in there. I see jokes thrown back at jokes, and then feelings apparently inflamed enough to come sprinting to the forums with a relatively empty complaint bomb. Why did this happen? I came into discord to see Paradox telling someone to delete their character because he didn't like how they looked ... cape, colors, etc... (he was joking, I'm sure)... so, I jokingly chimed in with "Yay, toxicity"... which for some reason was taken super-seriously, as though I was on a cocaine fueled rampage, hammering my keys through the keyboard with unbridled rage, even though from my perspective I was only half-paying attention and sort of randomly joking around. I was then accused of not being able to handle banter, and, well, to be 100% blunt, it looks like my subsequent banter struck some chords with some people, because I was just playin'. It's probably no secret that Schev and I have had our differences. Even while he was a mod, which pretty much caused me to step away until that crashed and burned, we had difficulties. I'd kinda prefer if the guy just put me on ignore and left me alone, but, here we are again for some ridiculous, hard to understand, somewhat creepy and unsettling reason. And I'll be 100% honest, I think Paradox is *actually* highly toxic in discord, but, I was joking when I said yay, toxicity above because I hadn't even realized it was paradox yet since his name had (yet again) changed since the last time I interacted with him (I had him on ignore for a while, too). Anyway, sorry if I hurt your feelings, that wasn't my intention, but maybe my banter was a little rough? (I'd need convincing of that to be 100% honest, but, I offer the apology all the same). I will lessen my interactions in discord, especially with those noted here. Let me know if you need further reply.
  5. So, gamemode or random event... I searched the forums for a "zombie" mode suggestion and didn't find anything, so, I figured I'd give it a quick go... I'd like to see a mode or event where someone becomes a zombie that can bite people and they turn into zombies 5-10 minutes later or upon death. They should be slow, but really hard to kill with energy weapons, but a bullet or knife to the brain does the trick? They should be able to eventually beat down airlocks, but unable to use tools or weapons, and should occasionally get back up after being "killed". Munching on a downed victim or raw meat/body parts could make them a little faster for a short time, and after extended feeding should gib the victim for that sweet oldschool gut-munching gore effect (but prevent re-animation of this guy)... but this should require multiple feedings and not something that one zombie does to a victim - a way of stopping it from spreading too fast. Too much zombie blood getting on you maybe has a chance to convert you or something to prevent too much anti-zombie melee heroism. Maybe throw in a couple of zombie abilities like a short sprint for a few squares, or a special grab that's a bit harder to get out of than normal. I dunno, I haven't thought too much into it so if anybody has any cool ideas for making this more workable within SS13, it's something I'd like to see happen from time to time, as I feel like Aurora is a great place for a zombie apocalypse scenario with all the maintenance and corridors and places for zombies to hide, and the HRP would create some pretty good zombie-movie inspired drama, "No, I wasn't bitten, I swear, let me in!" and "The ERT is killing everyone and/or setting off the nuke omg". I'm suggesting this because it seems like the rotation could use a little something extra, as we seem to hit certain low-involvement modes a bit too frequently. I recognize that it would be a little heavy on development side, as there would have to be some spriting done or something so we could see who was a zombie.
  6. On many rounds, command is pretty thinly staffed and lonely. It's not so bad to have someone else in the entire bridge area when playing solo. Especially now that it's large and off to the side. On the Exodus, the bridge and captain/HOP office being centrally located made shoft-staffed command not so dreadfully lonely.
  7. I played this round and was involved with the antag... I'm not saying the antag did anything wrong, they actually did a good job of RPing a gimmick and such, but, ninja played a certain way is virtually unstoppable and has pretty high grief potential (it's one-shot to cut off someone's foot and cripple them] Tajaran ninjas are fast and the player knew the station and how to play ninja very, very well. There was no time for calling ERTs, Escape Shuttles (one was called and recalled), or setting traps, because everyone's feet or heads were off before it was understood that the "intruder" was exceptionally violent/on the attack. If I had ordered security to make ready with ions and lethals from the instant we saw the first teleportation, that would have been unsatisfying and meta as well. I feel like in this scenario, a sneak-attack of this sort was appropriate and just about the only thing that could have brought it to a close outside of the entire station surrendering to one ninja. In this case, Resi used a very overpowered technique against a very overpowered antagonist (and I think it was fair) LONG after the antagonist had dragged the station through over an hour of "amputation/murder teleport hide and seek", and I'm sure everyone was very tired of it after the first 20 minutes. If it's "meta" to load a hypospray with KO chems for defending medbay, then it's "meta" to take advantage of the e-sword chopping off feet mechanic, too. It's not like Fernando didn't have a clear heads up that there was a murderer running around cutting off feet and heads in rapid succession to prepare for the situation, and, it's not like Fernando specifically came after the ninja and did this. They were in medbay, surrounded by the corpses and cut off limbs of their victims. I'd have a pretty big issue with this if it happened at the very beginning of an antag's round, but, after an antag has demonstrated that they are going to use the most direct, brutal, nigh-unstoppable tactics to get what they want for so long, an in-kind answer should not be off of the table for the crew. Especially with nerfing to armory content and other crew defensive capabilities. It may be a "cheap way to end the round" but, the round was full of cheap round-endings for other players at this point, and the time had come. So in closing: 1) The round was fun, but had run its course - pretty sure nobody but the ninja enjoys teleport murder-tag. 2) Resi acted reasonably, IMO, this was in no way validhunting given the heads up and level of danger the ninja had caused, and since all other viable responses had been pre-empted/canceled. 3) Some balance issues showed themselves here: e-sword vs feet/overall damage too high, chemicals in hypospray maybe too quick to apply.
  8. Absolute +1. Satin is an avid roleplayer and I enjoy Dayaja Quinn's story and interactions, even when I'm just observing. The crew could use a couple more command members, and a good HoP is always great to have. I have no doubt that Satin understands the game well enough to fulfill both IC and OOC responsibilities and create a believable, solid character to fill this role... so yes, definitely a +1 from me.
  9. Chen Yakumo has been with us a while and I've had a few positive interactions. Most recently it was with Anna Clark, a chef who worked very hard to make a spicy burrito for me, but, I was unable to receive it due to in-game issues as well as IRL issues. Regardless, our interactions were solid, good RP on Chen's part playing Anna, and, my only hesitation in giving this +1 is that I don't want to stop seeing Chen's other characters around, so, definitely a +1 from me. .
  10. I agree that the information about what is allowed on Aurora and what isn't should be added to the various job description pages, or at least a link to the related station directives or reference to the corporate regs. But, I also think that genetics should come back, as it's a really great department that gives someone something fun to do that can end up being quite useful sometimes. It's also a great antag device. Aurora's population seems to be pretty low as of late. I'm not sure what happened, but it might be a good idea to provide more things for players to do during their round. The research department is pitifully stocked of players pretty much every round (right now it has 5, which is the most I've seen in a few days). I think a lot of this is due to MUCH LESS FUN changes in R&D and of course the removal of genetics from the department. I'd vote to roll back some of the changes relating to the science department.
  11. Ellie and Fernando are easily two of the most interesting command-level characters on the station, and this application is well-written. I'm no expert with Skrell lore, but I have no doubt that this player will handle it with respect and produce excellent RP with this and any other Skrell character they choose to make, improving the overall quality of the species as represented on the Aurora. +9. Can I do +9? *reads a note* no? Oh. +1 then (but really +9) .
  12. RTNP is one of my favorite players overall for being a good RPer who spends time both crafting enjoyable characters and taking the time to learn about yours. I think they at the very least deserve a crack at trial moderator, and am relatively sure they will prove themselves worthy of the full title given a chance and time.
  13. I'll come out and say it, too... When I learned that Schev was a moderator and command whitelist responsibilities had fallen to him, I was disheartened. Having been involved in several arguments with him in the past, I knew that he would be an absolutely terrible choice for moderator, and he has definitely proven that to me in recent weeks. Not simply because we disagreed, but his manner of approach to most subjects, which, I'll let you characterize on your own by searching the forums. I'll throw in that I am certainly not perfect, either, but, I am also not a moderator (or even interested in being one, because I prefer to play the game naturally and without the added responsibilities). That terrible bit of business out of the way, I'll also say that to his credit he's a great part of the community as a player and contributor to many forum topics, and I am glad he is here in that capacity. If any action is taken, I hope that no meta-grudge will form as I enjoy playing SS13 with Schev the player, just not Schev the mod. I apologize for commenting when I was not involved with this particular incident, I understand that's against the rules and will take no offense if this post is outright deleted, I just saw the posts above and felt like it would make sense to go ahead and posit with others that I don't think Schev should be a moderator - in game - of the forums - and please no not of any whitelists either.
  14. Alright. That serves equally well, to be honest. As I dislike being attacked by the AI, and in my view, my attack here fit the profile of the majority of attacks I've received by malf or traitor AIs, I'll reference this thread as precedent for warnings when I ahelp it in the future. Thanks for your time, I am willing to drop this challenge given garn's assessment.
  15. You asked if someone was handling the AI, so, the malf AI attacked you. I'm pretty sure I've Ahelped being suddenly shocked with no warning many a time and gotten no indication that the activity was out of line for the malf to do whatsoever. You kept opening doors trying to leave command while my borg was en route to deal with you directly (and hopefully have some more direct RP-interaction with you beforehand). I don't know what I was expected to do here, but, I was 99% sure you knew I was malf because I thought you had watched me delete records on your laptop. The comment that I saw from you didn't reference the ION laws directly, and was made seconds after I had been using your laptop and you walked right over to it. Also, the HoS and Captain had already reported on command radio that the AI seemed strange, before the ION laws were reported because I tinted their windows early in the round and had bolted a few doors to keep people from easily discovering hacked APCs. So, the ION event was not even something I could have really used as cover if I wanted to, for anyone that was paying close attention. I targeted you first because you were isolated and seemed to know I was malf, and I escalated my attack after you had your door fixed and started to leave command (I wanted my borg to drag you deeper into command and finish you off, again, with more RP). The misunderstanding here, I believe, came from the fact that the ION thing happened but was not the actual problem. This all seems pretty much by-the-book AI play to me, with the exception that I suppose you were expecting me to play off my malfness based on those ION laws, which was not the route I chose. Also, I didn't think you'd try to open both command airlocks, figuring you'd have become wise that they were shocked after the first one after your office had just been set to shock. So, I wasn't really trying to straight up kill you, unless you succeeded with your escape from my borg. Also, I'm pretty sure I bolted those command doors, too, so, from my perspective it shouldn't have even been possible for you to shock yourself on both, I guess the CE or a borg had unbolted them on the way in. Are we saying that setting traps that kill people is against the rules because you can't really RP a trap to any meaningful depth before enabling it? As I've said, I've been killed this way many, many times as captain and RD and other jobs. I've adminhelped the AI even directly letting me into its chambers and then straight up lasering me with no indication at ALL that I knew it was borged and pretty much been told to go kick rocks, so... I really didn't think this was warning-level stuff here.
  16. BYOND Key: jkjudgex Staff BYOND Key: thedococt Game ID: bQX-dicD Reason for complaint: Faysal noticed that I was behaving strangely as AI, pretty sure because he caught me deleting personnel records from his laptop, but maybe for other reasons. He had made 1 or 2 comments about handling the AI, so, I wanted to go ahead and sting him. I shocked his doors, and when he began to complain that his doors were shocked, I sent a borg to silence him. As that wasn't likely going to work, I went ahead and shocked the doors on the way out of command to keep hurting him more. I do not think this resulted in Faysal's death, but it did send him to the medbay. I don't think I've ever been specifically warned by the AI that I was about to be shocked or otherwise interacted with. Thus far, my interaction with the crew had been as a normal AI, opening doors here and there, and doing my research. A couple of times people called for me and I responded, but they generally just wanted a door opened, or, after I said "yes?" or something, they said nothing else. I only had one attached borg who came in around an hour or so into the round. Evidence/logs/etc: Here's the warning: Followed the Head of Personnel around the station, shocking multiple doors he interacted with due to suggesting the AI has an ion law, as the AI. Did not make any attempt at communication with the HoP or command in general, breaking escalation rules. You're expected to interact with people before wordlessly attacking them, even as an antag AI. Additional remarks: I didn't follow him "Around the station". I shocked his doors, and went about my business. A few minutes later when he complained, I came back to finish the job, by shocking exactly 2 more doors - the doors to command. I had not yet been fully outed as bad at this time, so, I didn't want to engage in further verbal communication WHILE shocking him, so that the possibility that a rogue borg or other source of shocking was at fault. I considered shocking his doors originally part of my "escalation", since it was in no way fatal, until he continued trying to push through more doors, giving me more opportunities to shock him (which is just not the most wise thing to do, to accuse the AI of being bad and then start opening doors after being shocked once - I've been killed dead this way many times, with no more conversation). I was never made aware that escalation MUST include verbal communication with the victims beforehand, or telegraphing of one's role. Knowing that the station was easily prepared to shove an emitter up my butthole (which they eventually did), I opted to try to quietly remove one of the only three members of the crew who had taken notice of my actions - the one being the most verbal. I'm not sure how this *should* have been played, because, admittedly, I don't play mALF much (I didn't even know I had it selected, and adminhelped to be removed at the beginning of the round to no answer, so I went ahead and played it - which was fun, up until I shocked one person without some kind of monologue.) If this warning stands, the precedent that it sets is pretty heinous, as, it means we should be adminhelping each and every single time we are shocked without prior telegraphing from here on out, and we should expect that the player who shocked us be given a warning. The initial shock was in no way fatal, so, it wasn't a gank, plenty of other paths were made available to Faysal to call for help and be properly let out of his office by someone with gloves, so, it wasn't even critical until he tried to escape and continued tattling on me for being malf. EDIT: I also want to address thedococt's accusatory tone, his first AHelp to me was something along the lines of asking why I was going around the station "randomly shocking doors". This resulted in me having to explain the entire situation and why it was done, with no relenting or understanding by the mod. I targeted a crewmate who was in the know, did some hurting on him, and when he bolted, I hurt him really badly. Any dialogue from me at this point would have likely alerted everyone on command channel that I was malf, which, having only one borg, would not have been wise at that time.
  17. I will take responsibility as Captain for precipitating that engagement... A couple of things: 1) I am not sure how or why so many people without command access were on the bridge and "trapped" in this way, this was the situation as I arrived on the bridge, I heard there were intruders as I awoke from cryo, stopped by the brig, grabbed a shotgun and some armor, and had very little other info to go on by the time I got there. 2) I saw that my office had already been ransacked, and the mercs were being highly belligerent, rejecting my first couple of attempts to parlay with rudeness. 3) They began to encircle me, at which point I opted to open fire, thinking that underprepped security would use this opportunity to retreat and recoup, I didn't see how they got in, so it hadn't really occurred to me that they were "trapped". I thought maybe the AI was watching. Unfortunately, there was no escape for sec, and they were all killed with me. I feel bad about how it went down, I could have maybe handled it better (though I'm about 90% sure I started firing only a second or two before gunfire would have erupted anyway with similar result), I acknowledge that my tactics here were not the best (I probably should have tried to run away and open the airlocks for sec once I figured out talking wasn't really an option, maybe?). I am only making this post because I don't see how Olivia was really at fault here. I don't think she really had command authority. If we want to say "bad call" on an existing command member (me) who didn't de-escalate the situation properly, that's fine, but, for someone sub-command, unable to operate related airlocks or alert levels to be held back from ever getting that level of command based on this incident I disagree with that and feel more than 50% responsible. It shouldn't be my fault that Olivia can't be HoS because of my potentially bad call. Had she been HoS at the time, she could have raised the alert level, properly equipped security to deal with the intruders, or even potentially levied for ERT call with any other heads. Using what she had, and it being discovered to be inadequate by venue of my own goof is no mark against her as it should be for anyone else.
  18. I've RP'ed extensively with most of these characters and had nothing but positive experiences doing so, and having read this application, I have to offer a very strong +1.
  19. I like having reliable weapons on-station for when mercs arrive or someone shows up with some serious hardware. Laser rifles are pretty good for this. I don't see a big need to further nerf station security while much more powerful and deadly stuff than they have access to is commonly brought aboard along with the element of initiative and surprise. In my view, grenades, fire axes, and the AI need nerfed more than anything, and energy pistols should have about twice the shots they do.
  20. FWIW, I've seen Halstere take the role of warden quite seriously and run an admirable brig, doing a decent job of reporting the information up the chain of command when asked and keeping the captain informed when there's no HoS. He seems responsive to concerns and I've never had a serious problem with him. I won't up it just yet as I feel I'd like to keep an eye on him for a bit if I get a chance to play Captain a few more times with him on shift this week, now that I know he's applying, but if anyone was on the fence I just wanted to pop in and note that the guy is good material as far as security play is concerned from the command perspective. I kinda think people should play for 3 or 4 months, and maybe flesh out a couple of characters in other departments and come back before going for a whitelist position, personally, but, I don't consider that a hard requirement.
  21. 1) I like command characters who have a little bit of friction with NT but are still going for command, I look at it like a Dr. House kind of thing... so skilled we need him even if he's not a mindless robot. 2) I have interacted with this character in several rounds and enjoyed it in both antagonist and non-antagonist capacity. 3) I have promoted this character to interim CMO and gotten good results 2 or 3 times now. +1 from me.
  22. I don't like the idea of using the skills to do it... But I do think that disarm should be somehow nerfed in some situations. People will randomly rush you and disarm and ruin your hostage situation because they don't know how to RP fear, etc. Had this happen a while back while I was in a standoff with a security officer, who was RPing the situation well... some garbage scientist runs around the corner and starts spamming disarm on me despite being shot for doing so, keeps spamming and gets a click win... steals my gun, runs away, turns around, and shoots me and starts chasing me with the officer who is now shooting me too. I adminhelped. They were "spoken to" but, that doesn't mean my merc round wasn't absolutely #rekt. I think the problem with the disarm intent is just that it is too all-the-time useful. It shouldn't both disarm AND knock someone down, since knocking them down can disarm them, too. I'm not sure exactly what should be done here, but the success rate of the intent should go down a bit for the sake of making weapons, melee and otherwise, more menacing.
