  1. Allow me to restate the chain of events, as there was valid IC motivation here (despite the breach of 'do whatever a head of staff tells you') Opamator came by. Ordered slugs. I asked what. They said the slugs. I asked why. They said they needed them. I asked why; be specific. They said the HoS' orders, called Jesse by, Jesse told me it was for restocking the armory. I asked what for, told them NT already stocked it, etc etc. was told it was because they ordered it and they're command. asked if they were expecting hostilities. asked if there were hostilities right now. was only told 'no.' they came in and arrested me, so I followed them to the brig, went in the processing cubicle, got arrested (after, admittingly, refusing to give over my ID to Opamator until it said please, which netted me an additional charge of resisting arrest), went to the cell, sat there, asked Summer Snow if she'd bring me a blanket for the bed, roleplayed with her a few minutes, exited the brig, went back to work, fulfilled an order by Oscar Easter (a tactical hud), shot down some order by Jake Jarvis under some weird title the Captain gave him (how was I to know that was a real security officer), asked again about the slugs, still didn't fill the order. i played ball with the arrest i just didn't play ball with the roundstart lethals order. re; the other incident I was roboticist, my Aut'akh girl Zolazli. I had been fixing Kaden Rivers, when Heph Mover was thrown into my bay. I was already in the middle of repairing them, having dumped about 4 tubes of nanopaste into their crippled body, just fixed their battery and shit, etcetera. They were not dead at this point, merely severely damaged. I was just about to put some Aut'akh model limbs in them when Jesse came by and started yelling at me through the airlock to not fix them, but pull out their brain. Absolutely not, that's like asking Medical to not fix a dude's legs but instead MMI them. They didn't even have hands, so I'm not sure what threat they could be, so I continued to attempt removing their old broken legs. Jesse somehow got his way inside and began stunbatonning me for it. This was a deeply upsetting experience for the both of us, so I attempted to liberate him of his stunbaton and throw it in disposals. This ended up getting me ion'd. The only reason I did both of these things was because both of these orders are completely illogical, entirely unexplained, and in the second case, probably illegitimate as well.
  2. Satisfactory answer, thank you very much. Are you any interested in changes to their biology? Expanding on their origins?
  3. The conduct on your deputy application left a lot to be desired for me. What do you think are the largest issues with modern lore, and what's your gameplan to fix this? Just so we can have all your thoughts in one place.
  4. Sleepy has my support, as she did wonderful acts of necromancy when it came to Skrell. However. Sleepy, What do you think are the largest issues with modern lore, and what's your gameplan to fix this? Just so we can have all your thoughts in one place.
  5. I'm sorry, but I don't believe in non-HoP/Captain heads being able to make unreasonable orders just due to their status as a head.
  6. How about, yes, the QM's authority over their crew, department, and approving/denying orders is absolute unless overridden by the HoP?
  7. I couldn't be fucked to search back 47 pages to find if someone has talked about this before, so here we are. I feel as if the Quartermaster is in a legitimately awful place conceptually speaking. You have the HoP, who has complete and utter control over all affairs revolving around Cargo/Service as well as a litany of other things they can do. They cannot be swayed by anyone other than the Captain rankwise, and can flex on literally everyone under them. Meanwhile, you have the Lesser HoP that can do.. exactly none of those things. The QM only has soft control over CTs/Miners, and can be flexed on by pretty much anyone except an assistant. Their role is largely superfluous, and I'd like to open a discussion (open-ended, I don't have a mission in mind here) about their role and how it could be fixed.
  8. BYOND Key: ParadoxSpace Game ID: b29-c4oW Player Byond Key/Character name: Jesse Armstrong Staff involved: Simon the Miner Reason for complaint: I was playing my new Quartermaster at the time, when I was told by the warden (Opamator) that there was an order. I pinned to the notice board my standard shipping fees (and cost for autolathe items) when I checked the order. It was for two boxes of slugs, which I did not like one bit. It's generally super awful to order lethals at roundstart, especially under the age-old pretense of 'just restocking the armory.' I asked them why there was a desire for slugs, in which they dodged the question for around 25 seconds then told me it was just the HoS's orders. They called the HoS over, who also hardly provided a reason besides 'Restocking the armory' and an officer told me 'For training.' The lack of an actual good reason made me think it was metagaming, so I contacted staff (the next section.) I was then arrested (which I went along with, except that Opamator sternly refused to communicate in an effective manner with me). Generally, I feel like there's metagaming behind this, and that the HoS was not behaving properly. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes, in which we were unsure what to do with it, so Simon politely told me the same thing the HoS did. Approximate Date/Time: Just last round, 9/8/2019.
  9. Total support, it's a unique concept and it really fits the character.
  10. This is so fucking cool, absolute +1 (though genuinely I would love if the blindfold was xenowear.)
  11. It's primarily for brainwashing and malignant software in IPCs. desc = "A controversial and debatably unethical neurostimulator and autohypnosis device. When implanted against the amygdala, it ensures the host maintains a consistent personality, preventing outside interference through brainwashing or hypnotic suggestion." The supernatural are just a side effect like Stev said. desc = "A dedicated processor core designed to identify and terminate malignant software, ensuring a synthetics protection from outside hacking.
  12. In hopes of the future necromancy of https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/6944 It replaces loyalty implants with mindshield implants, which do exactly the same thing except they don't force loyalty. They just shield from antags and such. This serves the prime purpose of removing railroading of Command decisions, lorewise allowing you to make decisions that Miranda Trasen wouldn't like if the situation is that extreme. Loyalty implants were said not to work in periods of extreme emotion anyway, which brings them into question. I do agree that giving the Cap/HoS shielding from antags and such is necessary, which is why the function was kept.
  13. Support. It's a really nice sprite, and very unique too.
  14. I agree bigly. Research can take anywhere from 12 minutes to a whole 50 if you're looking for levels commonly deemed acceptable, and getting it done any faster requires 1) An active, fast mining team 2) Robotics that isn't bald 3) Ignoring everyone around you in favor of mindless deconstruction. Cargo warehouse does not do it. Often one has to delay projects such as circuit construction just because R&D is still grinding. We took out cult research, we can take out this research.
  15. Where: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/6888 What: Removing the Wand of Change entirely, and having the Staff of Change as adminspawn only. Why: The Staff of Change is essentially a meme that has no counterplay except to suffer as whatever the fuck the wizard has decided to make you into (PERMANENTLY) for any reason (or lack thereof) under the sun, and has an essentially unlimited amount of uses so long as one is cautious. The wand of change is an even bigger offender, often being seen en masse and being a convenient size (not requiring a hand or a back like the Staff proper.) Wizard gameplay will not lose a night of sleep over this change, however a feedback thread is supposedly required.
  16. I don't think going full Loow again is particularly necessary, but it shouldn't be 'come collect your whitelist' either. I'm generally understanding of small messups, but I generally don't have a high tolerance for people clearly skipping over parts of the wiki. In all, it shouldn't be hard to gain, but shouldn't be too easy to lose. Also, I'm not a great big fan of reverting wiki information in response to singular players, only if it's an endemic issue.
  17. I'll keep this simple for you. How can I be assured that you will actually follow the rules if I lift this ban?
  18. This is pretty much even more pointless than the old secborg. The forensics tech has literally nothing to do on an average round to begin with, it's just shieldbot and 'borg let us in this department'. I doubt the barricades will be super useful because they will block movement anyway. This is directly inferior to just removing them, as this just leaves them castrated. I would only accept /tg/ peacekeepers over this, there's nothing that great about this one.
  19. Being that this does not actually exist in corporate regulations, yet is enforced by Security all the time, I would like to propose actual concrete regs. You do not need to speak only basic over the radio providing it is: Your department's channel Or code green/yellow However, basic is required on codes blue and red (and delta), being that clear communication in an ongoing emergency is important.
  20. I don't exactly trust you with this whitelist. You're not particularly wonderful at playing Veetek Kalna, as there is not much Unathi/Aut'akh/Veetek culture behind them (mostly just a relatively childish disposition and a complex over being yellow) and you seem to have issues maintaining your character and keeping immersion in places like the Relay (which, despite being mostly noncanon, does reflect on you and does reflect on peoples' view of the lore. Harping on the phenomena of throwing a cucumber behind a cat for 2 weeks does not inspire confidence.) I also noted that instead of coming up with something yourself for the most part, you essentially had other people draft up a character for you to post. Alongside this, you have pretty much ignored the feedback on your other other thread. I have severe doubts you can pull this off.
  21. Theoretically, the players solve their own problems.
  22. There is only one camera console in the bridge unless I am mistaken.
