Juani's Interim Loremaster Deputy Application
Snakebittenn replied to Juani2400's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I have nothing against Juani. He's a pretty pleasant personality, and a hard worker in the Adeptus Administratum. However, I can't in good faith support this application. I would much rather have a candidate with tangible experience in the lore team. As well, despite having access to the lore chat, you have never seemed interested in our going ons before now, posting a very limited amount of times, primarily for clerical purposes (valid.) I am also unsure about how interested Juani is in non-Skrell/Diona races. -
Dismiss the ruling that roboticists cannot do RND
Snakebittenn replied to Scheveningen's topic in Rejected Policy
Bump again. This really is an ass backwards policy for Roboticists to not be able to at least get basic tech levels (enough for a circuit printer even.) The department literally cannot function without some basic tech levels, and playing science without someone that's doing R&D is a fucking slog. -
Delet this if this has been posted before by me. Simple enough, remove the slowdown penalty from not wearing shoes. Stepping on shrapnel and various shards is pretty punishing as-is, and for things like mechanical legs it makes not a lot of sense.

@geeves told me to roll up a suggestion thread to gauge interest so here we are. http://ss13.moe/wiki/index.php/Mechanic the Mechanic is a hybridization of research and engineering, whose duties are primarily: replacing machinery, fixing stuff, upgrading stuff, deploying new stuff, and tricking out their sick mancave to be hospitable. to do this, they get a variety of new equipment, along with an RPED, circuit imprinter, circuit kits, and a protolathe. you have the device scanner (there's a PDA one but it only loads one design at a time) and you go around scanning things you load these designs into the Reverse Engine and it researches the things you scan once they're researched you can print Blueprints using either paper or nanopaper. paper lasts one use, nanopaper lasts forever. you get 3 packs of nanopaper that you load into the nanopaper printer. so you hit 'print'on the Reverse Engine and it gives you a blueprint. some blueprints are used on autolathes/protolathes (for handheld stuff), others are used on the Flatpack Fabricator. the flatpack fab asks for a certain amount of mats, much like a protolathe, then you get the flatpack and you use your tools on it to deploy the thing in a spot. flatpacks are stuff like vending machines, computers, etcetera. i think this would be a good thing, much like our abortive attempt at an engineering janitor. it'd do a lot of things that don't normally get done (upgrading machines comes to mind, replacing lost vendors/etc is another) too. edit: this is related to the Engineer > Maintenance Tech PR. this could be separate to engineer slots, or replace one slot.

There's much better solutions, such as making the portal exact instead of adjacent. It's also kind of weird that they worked better before, and your complaints are due to a PR that /you/ made. Most of this is things that your PR changed, that you did not account for.

Removed Access Restrictions for non-secure areas.
Snakebittenn replied to BurgerBB's topic in Archive
How about instead. The front doors and super secure areas/buttons of a department are locked, but everything else (including consoles and buttons) are free real estate? So once you're inside, you can generally wander around and touch stuff. -
IPC Species Maintainer - Niennab
Snakebittenn replied to niennab's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I have concerns about the timezone you exist in (and on top of that, being a Uni student that actually pays attention in class.) It wouldn't exactly be convenient for me, as an American (and lore staff), to have the full Maintainer only be on super early and super late (at least for my dumbass time zone.) It also slightly concerns me that you won't be engaging more on the Discord, as maintainers should (imo) do their best to be a presence. Lastly, I don't understand how the rework would turn them into reskinned humans. I think it would add more depth, myself. I'd love more details on this. In all, I guess +0.5. I'd prefer you as a deputy over concerns of other applicants having much more knowledge, and just a twinge more experience. But, you'd be a lovely deputy nonetheless. -
Alberyk's Tajara Lore Writer Application
Snakebittenn replied to Alberyk's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Peanut gallery, I have nothing to really say about the application itself that isn't anything positive that hasn't been said before, but. You don't even have to be a homophobic taj. It's like, a footnote in the lore. Maybe two sentences at most. There's an entire rich sphere of Tajara lore and character concepts for you to make. Besides. Removing negative aspects of the species just because it's overplayed recently is not the way to go. A society needs bad parts about it just as it needs good parts, it's what makes their cultural identity. Tajaran/Adhomaian culture shouldn't be for everyone. -
I absolutely support Moondancer on numerous fronts, if she is capable of not having everything be super technical and specific. Concepts must be boiled down for the greater good sometimes. Either way, she has a lot of previous experience (and irl experience/knowledge with robotics). Plus one, sorry I can't add a lot more.

Dragos Cyberpunk lore deputy application
Snakebittenn replied to Lady Fowl's topic in Developer Applications Archives
So long as she does not focus on solely Eridani, I don't have any major reasons why not. -
Msizi Djikstra's Stellar Robes + Symbolic Belt
Snakebittenn replied to Happy_Fox's topic in Completed Items
This is about sick as fuck and very unique. I really, really like this. -
Can we cop an IPC version for baselines?
-
I really love the new sprite, as the old helmet has always confused me (plus it was kind of a bland look outside of the pauldrons anyway.) I'd love to see your takes on other species versions of it, it looks mean but not for combat.

You can reopen this some other time.

Security (And other roles) Less Likely to Become Antag
Snakebittenn replied to BurgerBB's topic in Archive
I think reducing chances for loyalist would be funny, while keeping rev the same. It'd also prevent every rev round from being 'jackbooted thugs enforce the captain's iron fist' -
Roll Back Security Uniform Regulations
Snakebittenn replied to Snakebittenn's topic in Rejected Policy
Arguably, Medical has an equal responsibility to be identifiable on sight. Yet, we haven't had massive issues with Medical before except edge cases. Medical does not have this notice. I wonder why there hasn't been massive issues lately? Likely because head of staff discretion is just fine. -
[Accepted] JMJ99 - CCIAA Application
Snakebittenn replied to JMJ_99's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
I suppose I'll address the hippopotamus in our backdoor pool. This post, alongside your general attitude the last time you were CCIA. Why is this time going to be different? -
ParadoxSpace's Skrell Deputy Application

Delete this if peanut gallery, but. Yes, all I said was that 1) It's to make IRs go faster, which they desperately need to. 2) It's extremely impolite to name someone to air your 'grievances' without actually coming forth and saying anything about them, if they're so egregious that Lancer needs to be replaced by a retired staff member. It would've been preferable for you to state your actual issues with it first, instead of 'my friends say you've been doing badly, why are you decreasing CCIA workload?'

Roll Back Security Uniform Regulations
Snakebittenn replied to Snakebittenn's topic in Rejected Policy
How many times did you see this before we had the reg. Is Research not Research? Is Command not Command? This is unevenly applied. -
Hello, I'll try to keep this short. The current CCIA notice is that Security, basically, cannot have shit from the loadout at all except for Security items. I find this unnecessary. Historically, we've just operated off 'You have to wear your department colors, preferably an armband, preferably the uniform, the HoS has full control over what you do and don't wear.' It's always worked, and only in edge cases are Security completely unrecognizable as Security (unless they are intentionally dressing to deceive.) It doesn't serve any actual purpose besides stifling customization. Also, it is an unevenly applied regulation. Why does Security have this, and not Medical, or Research, or Command? I don't think it's good, and I think it should be rolled back to HoS discretion.

Please be nice to animals.

We already have J-ERT. This is not necessary.

>Why would a member of the hive important enough to it's survival be sent off to some hellhole? ok so historically the job of female breeders (as they are the ones that are unbound) was literally just to lay eggs, be an understudy of a lesser queen incase they kick the liquid storage device, and controlling hive-cells generally female breeders that aren't lesser queens are in charge of hive cells, which are very numerous. each vaurca of a hive is in a hive cell and these numbers can range anywhere from like 12 dudes (sitting 5 feet apart cause they aren't gay) to the thousands (it depends on how in-demand the job is) while they aren't exactly as common as workers or warriors, they are absolutely nonvital to operations their recent job has been to act as representatives because it would be pretty much a waste of resources if eggs was all they did >'they're more sociable than the other castes' correct, sort of. while there's hardly any antisocial vaurca, breeders possess the most social intelligence and likely have by far the most training in other species' customs, systems, etc. workers/warriors can also be socially inclined, especially if C'thur, but it's not their function or purpose. they don't send them for that in a capacity such as this. (oocly they cannot be guarded because alb doesn't want consular guards) >And the... important mama bug was fighting? this was a breach of lore and it's not something they are actually meant to do they are not meant to put in literally any hard labor or any fighting unless there's deadass no one else to do it >mechanics They are not any more durable than a Worker, meaning if you puncture their carapace they will bleed out within probably 2 minutes.

Player Complaint - Jesse Armstrong
Snakebittenn replied to Snakebittenn's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Allow me to restate the chain of events, as there was valid IC motivation here (despite the breach of 'do whatever a head of staff tells you') Opamator came by. Ordered slugs. I asked what. They said the slugs. I asked why. They said they needed them. I asked why; be specific. They said the HoS' orders, called Jesse by, Jesse told me it was for restocking the armory. I asked what for, told them NT already stocked it, etc etc. was told it was because they ordered it and they're command. asked if they were expecting hostilities. asked if there were hostilities right now. was only told 'no.' they came in and arrested me, so I followed them to the brig, went in the processing cubicle, got arrested (after, admittingly, refusing to give over my ID to Opamator until it said please, which netted me an additional charge of resisting arrest), went to the cell, sat there, asked Summer Snow if she'd bring me a blanket for the bed, roleplayed with her a few minutes, exited the brig, went back to work, fulfilled an order by Oscar Easter (a tactical hud), shot down some order by Jake Jarvis under some weird title the Captain gave him (how was I to know that was a real security officer), asked again about the slugs, still didn't fill the order. i played ball with the arrest i just didn't play ball with the roundstart lethals order. re; the other incident I was roboticist, my Aut'akh girl Zolazli. I had been fixing Kaden Rivers, when Heph Mover was thrown into my bay. I was already in the middle of repairing them, having dumped about 4 tubes of nanopaste into their crippled body, just fixed their battery and shit, etcetera. They were not dead at this point, merely severely damaged. I was just about to put some Aut'akh model limbs in them when Jesse came by and started yelling at me through the airlock to not fix them, but pull out their brain. Absolutely not, that's like asking Medical to not fix a dude's legs but instead MMI them. They didn't even have hands, so I'm not sure what threat they could be, so I continued to attempt removing their old broken legs. Jesse somehow got his way inside and began stunbatonning me for it. This was a deeply upsetting experience for the both of us, so I attempted to liberate him of his stunbaton and throw it in disposals. This ended up getting me ion'd. The only reason I did both of these things was because both of these orders are completely illogical, entirely unexplained, and in the second case, probably illegitimate as well.
