1. I see. Hopefully this will motivate more players to make them.
2. Will this be in the game's character setup or a website?
3. The definition of corporate violation "Illegal Search" needs to be revised. Security is allowed to search a crewmember for probable cause ONLY in code blue and above according to this CIAA post: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=107&t=9124 However, corporate regulations define "Illegal search" as this: To abide by the relatively recent change in policy, the definition of "Illegal search" must be changed to this:
4. What is wrong with a captain wanting to handle such a small issue as misuse of communications by simply calling the person to their office and taking the headset away? It's reasonable because it's not a captain jumping into a hostile situation to fight for or alongside officers, something dozens of other captains do and they never get talked about/punished for it.
5. Synnono I had forgotten about that thread! Thank you!
6. The wiki page on the warden says this: But the CCIA notice on warden authority says this: This discrepancy leads to arguments within the department. People will say they don't have to report when the warden requests they do, but the wiki says they can even tell officers where to report to. I am fine whether we decide to make officers not answer to the warden, or to make them answer to them up to a certain point, but we need to define it more clearly so that new warden players don't get yelled at for doing what their job's wiki page indicates they can do. 7. So, besides the inability for borgs to move people without a chair or stretcher (which we could find another solution to), the argument boils down to "It doesn't matter it's not realistic; It should be kept in because I'm too lazy to do something that doesn't break immersions as much". I would expect people who play on a heavy roleplay server to at least come up with another solution that doesn't allow people to put a pool of blood into every single tile they walk across. I guess only a handful of people besides me really have an issue with that. Personally, I would rather be forced to slow down or to find something with wheels to move the person on to take them to cryo storage (which I still think should be on the main level), than being allowed to pull a 120 kilograms heavy unathi like they are a pillow or watch someone else do such thing. For goodness' sake, even CM has this feature and they are not HRP.
8. We have seen this type of character before, and they never last long. Their players either got banned, or they stopped playing them because enough people protested. For some reason, some players enjoy roleplaying as ridiculously rude characters who are somehow able to come to work every day and for some reason think it's acceptable because they themselves are aware of their attitude. However, I am ok with being and have been a gigantic asshole when antagging. I don't know why VaValor made Vick the way he is, but there is a tasteful way to roleplay an asshole with subtlety, and then there is the type of character that gets this type of complaint because people get tired having to deal with their shit a lot of rounds.
9. I think there are still cases where an exception can be made. What if someone is found out to be torturing the mice without killing them for their own sick amusement? While I think it'd be extremely rare during a normal round, it's something that a cultist could be seen doing to praise the geometer and there should be repercussions.
10. Throughout my time playing this game, mostly on this server, I have seen numerous comments by players in looc and even IC of how 'short' a person's time behind a cell is when they protest about the validity of their charge. When Officers make an arrest where the detainee could arguably be found innocent were the case able to go to court, the officers often tell them something along the lines of, 'Come on, let's just get this over with. It's only 10 minutes'. To the people with this kind of mentality, let me tell you something you might not know. In real life people aren't put in a little cell for just 10 minutes when they are arrested for vandalizing a location. Whether the person is innocent or not does not matter; people will spend weeks or months in jail for the silliest things that you often see being done on the station. However, the time ingame is condensed as to allow players to get back into the round instead of holding them until transfer as it would be ICly. This means that security should not try to alleviate their guilt or a person's anger when they protest for their poorly handle detention. Take sentencing times more seriously, and you will become a better sec player.
11. AllyBearsleyajstorey456 I meant rolling chairs/officers chairs, sorry. Those are way more readily available all around the station than stretchers.
12. People should not be able to move a downed person at the same speed they can move them while standing up. Right now, pulling people on the floor is used for two things mainly: Moving SSD's to cryo, and flooding the hallway with blood because of people who don't know better. If you want to move SSD to cryo in a timely manner, it's easy to find a rolling chair or a stretcher, or you can deal with the actual weigh a person has and be slowed down considerably. In the future, devs could add the option to carry a person on their shoulders, which should give the carrier a walking speed between grabbing and normal speed, perhaps more towards the faster end. edit: I typed roller bed instead of rolling chair/officer chair.
13. Azande's suggestion sounds very interesting. There are never 2 IAA onboard at the same time, so converting half of the office into the Union Representative's would not change anything. Though, this means that things like wizards/ninjas, mercs, raiders, etc, would not be able to engage in this kind of RP. Moreover, what if the detained character is not part of this union? Or does being a crewmember automatically make them part of it? Also, now that I think about it were this slot to be added, who gets to speak to the detainee first? The detective or the representative?
14. The thread should function as evidence of Ward's failure so that if it happens again in the future (which I am hopeful it won't) we will have something to refer back to if he continues neglecting clones this way. Besides that, I don't think even a warning is necessary.
15. I did not ahelp because I was dealing with it ICly, and waited until the shuttle came to ask Farkas about the canonicity of his death. In retrospective, I should have tried ahelping right after that so there could have been a chance the staff replied and spoke to him, instead of me making this thread.
16. This is dangerous. AOOC is not meant for this sort of ICish coordination. Indeed, coordinating in AOOC as you describe would seem to be very much IC in (A)OOC. The merc+traitor roundtype would make this sort of coordination very difficult to avoid. Someone posts in AOOC about being a merc or traitor, someone else realizes the roundtype, and then we're off to the races. A "gimmick" for traitor+merc could very quickly become rule-breaking coordination in AOOC. And while antagonists are expected to check themselves before posting in AOOC, this would make it very difficult to avoid. People have done the same for crossfire even though both teams start in different areas. Setting a premise for the round and the motives of the antags at the START of the round is completely fine, and I would go as far as to argue that even hour into the round it's acceptable to suggest a change in the story or motivations of the antags if it makes the round more engaging.
17. BYOND Key: Keinto Game ID: Next round's ID: bRd-aYSw Player Byond Key: ((Don't know)) Staff involved: Bigby Farkas, Ward Sagan Reason for complaint: First of all, I need to clarify that I would have loved to deal with this ICly with an incident report of Neglect of Duty, but unfortunately it involve the death of a character that the player of Bigby Farkas decided not to keep canon. I have nothing against Ward Sagan or the player who plays him and I think he is relatively competent as a doctor. The only reason I report the issue in this subforum is because the rules don't allow incident reports on events that are not canon such as antag-related or deaths as it is this case. Officer Bigby Farkas died dealing with a blob that spawned in Brig maintenance. He was later cloned by Ward Sagan with at least two other medical staff present at the time. Instead of delaying the cloning of Farkas while first treating the patients who were still alive to later properly sit down with him to inform him of his death, Sagan decided to do both simultaneously and later told Farkas to talk to him later while he stabilized other patients. Some times passes, and then this bizarre statement comes from Sagan in the common channel. [Common] Ward Sagan says, "Hey, uh, sorry bigby, was busy getting dead." [Common] Ward Sagan says, "If you have questions, PDA" [Common] Bigby Farkas asks, "What?" [Common] Ward Sagan says, "... me" [Common] Bigby Farkas asks, "Wait, what?" [Common] Arthur Greiss mutters, "Fucking brilliant." Having realized Farkas was not told of his death before being released, I look for him in the medical lobby. We begin speaking to Sagan and then this happens: Bigby Farkas asks, "Did you say I died..?" Ward Sagan says, "What? I said nothing like that." Bigby Farkas says, "You said..busy bein' dead.. And that if I had questions..t' PDA you.. And I can't remember anythin'.. " Ward Sagan says, "I was busy grabbing the deceased due to the blob was what i was refering to." Bigby Farkas glances around the lobby.. Bigby Farkas says, "R-Right, yeah.." Bigby Farkas nods. Bigby Farkas says, "Yeah.." We later go our separate ways due to a radiation storm and I meet Sagan once again in maintenance and begin asking about Farka's death because I was not sure whether he had really died or not. He replies with this: Ward Sagan says, "As I said, patient confidentiality. Unless it's a security matter. You have access tot he morgue anyway if you're that interested. I was calling him back there to speak to him about it. Kunta is supposed to be fired so I was grabbing some patients to stabilize them and such while he recovered." The rest of the round consisted of me trying to prosecute him after having looked at Farka's own body bag in the temporary morgue. I ask Farka's player whether he's keeping the death canon or not, to which he says he isn't. Then I proceed to write a character complaint instead of an incident report (which again, I would have loved to do ICly). Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? (Yes or no, then an explanation for why not, if applicable.) No. Approximate Date/Time: (The date and time of the incident. Date is more important but both are helpful) 30/10/17 8:00 PM UTC-08:00
18. What the title says. I think it would be a great gamemode assuming the traitors coordinate in AOOC with the mercs at the start of the round about kidnapping, providing access, and just generally being a sleeper agent until they betray the crew in the end as they escape with the redsuits. Possible names: Insideout Plot Syndies
19. I was the warden that round and witnessed Kalren taking the shotgun off the armory. I have not played warden that much so I am unfamiliar with the default manifest of the armory, but by the end of the round I recall having two shotguns back in the locker. Correct me if I am wrong but that is how many shotguns start there, right? But having read the logs I am not so sure anymore. What I would like to be resolved if any staff wants to bother going through the logs, is what happened to the second energy carbine that went missing after the HoS, me, and Kalren took weapons off the armory. We were told through the radio that Kalren had left a voidsuit and a weapon in the security lobby desk and he called us to retrieve them, but we were busy at the time and were not able to respond. We figured he just left a weapon in a public space, and some randy took it. I believed this weapon was the carbine, but the logs show that the only weapon confirmed to be in his possession was the shotgun. Off-duty personnel from security should never be given any access to the brig to be honest, specially when there are already other sec staff present.
20. I would love this. As I've said numerous times, this would motivate people not to drag a wounded/dead person across busy areas, and if they do, we will have another reason to get them detained because apparently nobody cares about leaving gallons of blood in the floor and how disgusting that would be IRL.
21. If by weighing the various options you mean how the probability of each gamemode would be set, they'd all have an equal chance of being selected. And this would be its own separate option in the voting list, so if people want either secret or mixed secret, they'd still be able to vote for it.
22. Simple, a new secret selection that puts all gamemodes from secret and mixed secret together into the possibilities, so the round will either be one of the vanilla gamemodes we all know and love, or the new mixed gamemodes. This would help combat metagaming at the first third of the round like when the wizard shows up and people expect the ninja to pop in soon, or start looking for the cult, or when the AI starts acting odd and people already know there is a shapeshifting alien onboard and a fistful of syndicate operatives.
23. I didn't know that. How is a brain supposed to act when plugged in, and where can I refer other people of this information?
24. Pretty self-explanatory. Players should not be able to tell whom a brain belongs to just by hovering a mouse over them. If there are not clues at all at the scene where the person died, then you should hook them up to a MMI and speak to them or get forensics to scan the blood found around the brain.
25. +1 again. We have never tried a round without cloning, so no one really knows how it would affect the way people take care of themselves in the long term. Moreover, cloning in its current form doesn't justify its use on a research station. Until the cloning procedure requires medical to remove the brain of the original body to be put in the new one, clones should not be allowed to return to work due to the many ethical issues and mental breakdowns we have had in the past-i.e having to hide the truth from the clone, or the depression that follows after the patient has been informed of their death following the change in policy.
