  1. Because the character in this report was canonically released from their contract, this IR is being closed. If you feel that a character or player behaved in a sufficiently inappropriate way, you should consider an OOC complaint here: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewforum.php?f=35
  2. I remember June from early days on staff. Pikl is consistently thoughtful of other people, friendly, humble, and receptive to feedback as a player. I enjoyed them during their brief stint as a mod, and I'm definitely happy to see them back! IAA is certainly a gentle introduction to whitelisted roles, and I feel like they'll make a good one. We need more! The role needs to be played by more people so they and we can develop it a little. Specific to this application, pikl has answered the OOC-themed questions with the things I like to see: supporting a round's narrative, making things enjoyable for everyone, being there to help players, and helping set the tone of the roleplay for people who look to them for information. Everything mechanical can be learned. Welcome back! You have all my support.
  3. Accepted as of 4/2. Welcome to the team!
  4. Due to the reported character's behavior being linked directly to antag involvement in the round, this incident report is being closed. If you feel the character's behavior warrants an OOC complaint, you may make one here: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewforum.php?f=35
  5. This report is being closed due to the inactivity of the reporting player. Please re-read the rules and guidelines post before submitting another Incident Report. If you open another report in the future, please make sure to check your forum PMs, BYOND pager or Discord for the staff member attempting to contact you.
  6. If staff has previously disagreed on what is an acceptable threshold, then there's nothing stopping them from creating some internal guidance for themselves on how to enforce character believability. But I think any sort of limits should left at guidance for staff and information for players, not enforced as hard rules that can be broken. Creating a hard ceiling is punishing to players who think through their characters and could otherwise defend them, for the sake of convenience. And in the end, I don't even think it will prove to be that convenient - you're still going to have just as many people showing up who haven't read the wiki or the rules, making characters who will all still need to be manually checked or reported by others. You just might be enforcing the believable character rule more than you did previously, since there are going to be more people breaking it thanks to the arbitrary limit we've set.
  7. I dislike it. It seems weirdly punishing to IPC players. Work on the existing bugs and keep the uniqueness that already exists per frame and character, rather than creating an arbitrary, dissatisfying standard for returning players to the round. It also doesn't make sense to scrap a specialized frame in favor of a generic one unless the original frame is entirely destroyed, and that is almost never the case.
  8. I don't think we need a ceiling. We have a rule in place for believability already. Someone breaking that rule with an absurd or unbelievable backstory and education already needs enforcement. Breaking two rules doesn't change the outcome. If someone has a reasonable path to two or more advanced degrees (possible), they should be allowed to write for that. Arbitrarily limiting people just creates more cases of unacceptable backgrounds, while not changing player behavior in the least.
  9. There is currently no CCIABS character that I have played or created. The last was Daniel Bay, played by ForgottenTraveler. I believe that case was shortly before he retired from the team. I'll be making a new Bureau Supervisor soon, but I don't think that was me. Edit: Got my wires crossed. I think catmom meant to indicate an agent, not a bureau head, and I'm also thinking of another extended round in which there was a scientist kidnapping the captain with telescience, as it was done by another player. What are the odds. I don't think I personally recall these events.

  11. You have no idea how disappointed I am that this is not an incredibly ugly argyle sweater, but I imagine that's hard to represent on 32x32. No arguments from me, I guess! Not a bad idea to make it an accessory, so that the suit slot can still be used. It definitely looks better with the shirt/tie around the collar.
  12. A couple days ago someone mentioned Space Spice might be missing. It's rare to see a chef go through the entire bottle, but it might have been missed. I have not personally checked.
  13. Make it interesting, not punishing. Mechanically it's already been heavily, heavily nerfed since 2016-17. Bluespace is full of weird, unknown and seemingly supernatural things. Make it more than a meme method of transportation somehow before you just make it less fun to mess with.
  14. Is that name not also some sort of meme name anyway? Don't we discourage those in the naming rules? This one in particular got bandied about the Discord for a while. Aside from that, I like what you like about this character. Defying death and the natural order of things is sort of a guilty pleasure of mine when it comes to character design (particularly with robots, but diona could certainly could fit the role in their treebug weirdness). It's a slightly different kind of strength that's potentially subversive when it's applied to an "8 foot tall tree capable of squishing your head like a watermelon." As a player, you're a benevolent meme with a healthy creative streak, and even though I had a little trouble following the backstory as it was written, I don't doubt that you'd be able to bring the character to life in the game.
