In that case (since we don't know the details of the IR discussion) we've got: "Didn't know how to use the ninja suit so I fucked up a guy." V "Valids are valid so I valid'ed." Both seem a bit in the wrong to me though it was dead round with no one really affected. Edit: You're coming off a bit worse Xor because robust valid hunting (viro going after a cyber assassin) is harsher then fumbling kills with a new role (oh jeez how do I, oh god now I've cut his leg off some one help me!).
-
Sounds like you both goofed but Xor the IR damns you at the moment. Can you explain what happened in that instance please?

[Denied] ATLAS Storm Troop Detatchment
Zundy replied to Outboarduniform's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
FYI Mendell City has at least two card carrying ATLAS party members on it's Council. One of them is a proper jackboot stopping one as well. -
Apples and beef jerky m8.

Heh yeah. I was there for that and the shit storm that followed ( I was part of the shit storm :3 ).

Apples and oranges. You're comparing space law (not naval) now to space law 400 years in the future. Contray to popular belief space law isn't the same as naval law. There are no captains in space. That in itself is moot as in the lore itself we do have spess captains so it's not worth arguing either way as it falls into "we'll just make shit up as and when for rule of cool and mechanical purposes". If a Senior Manager (which the Station Manager almost certainly is) dismisses you, it's game over. You don't get to speak to a manager. You can try to complain I guess once of station as you could normally now. Since this setting is in a corporate dysotopia it stands to reason that they don't have to go through "HR" since that doesn't exist, we just have the CCIAs. Basically having a title change doesn't change the power of the person. The captain could be called "Prime Squibbles of Neebotron" and still hold the same powers because we demand it of the setting. Appealing to real life is irrelevant as times change, especially in a world of extraterritorial megacorps who literally make their own laws and regulations and only have to follow token laws from any sector they're in (if any), and it's a game. Hell, the Station Manager could have the powers of a traditional captain of a ship but be a manager in company terms. Otherwise think of this: What authority does the captain have in say a Mendell NT Facility? Is he/she a manager and afforded the same respect (as he/she should be since they're supposedly senior management), or is he ignored by the employees there as they're not his/her "crew" and the building isn't his/her "ship"? I assume they'd be afforded the same courtesy a manager from subsidiary A would have visting subsidiary B in a large umbrella company, that is to say they would be respected but unable to give any orders to anyone. I think an alt-title should be available for players that want to add more of a corporate spin to their characters because frankly as is stands literally no body seems to give a shit about making money on this station. The science team does whatever the fuck with no corporate direction, no data or products get shipped off station. Cargo orders tonnes of garbage. The mining team do one or two mining runs and then stop, dicking around for the rest of the round. Medical make their mandated holy triumvirate medicines then sit and chair RP, no data or products get shipped off station. Engineering sets up the engine and shoots the shit, usually only reacting to events. They don't construct anything to be shipped off or toed off in the case of new vessels, they usually don't carry out upgrades to the station super structure or facilities. Botany makes veggies but doesn;t ship them, instead piling them into the kitchen. The Kitchen makes either no food or a fuck tonne of food but leaves it out to rot, no products get shipped off. People respect the captains authority in a security-SPESS NAVY-sense, but not a corporate sense. I can see the backlash now from the RD if the captain ordered science to manufacture weapons for shipping or some such. The station literally hemorrhages millions of credits a shift. The Project Manager incharge of the Exodus/Aurora must be a fucking master spin doctor or bullshitter because how they haven't lost their job and this station be decommissioned I don't know.

Sounds cool. Obviously the contraband is still going to be taken away but the person shouldn't be charged. Make a CCIA announcement for it and spam, spam, spam it fam.

Head of Station. Corporate and aligns with current title standards.

Just remembered about this lil'thang. Please can we have towels IG? Simple sprite, pop it on the exo slot to hide your turkey dinner or bearded clam, located in the lockers near the shower area. Cotton ans machine washable. Bonus points: They could have code so they can be used to dry/clean stuff. Thoughts?
-
To be fair it's 400 years in the future IG so we're all sausages for arguing semantics/technicalities and for a guy who 'doesn't care', I sure put a lot of time and effort looking into this. It's opinions at the end of the day and like an ice cream at the end of a three course meal, as long as it's tasty I don't really mind the flavour (I'd prefer vanilla/corp title tho fam).

No worries man, just asking in case I wasn't down with the kids and their new slang. +1 on the not so fancy scarf.

Hey I'm not saying we should use the words jail or whatever. I'm saying: The Space Station isn't a ship and just using nautical terms whilst on it doesn't make it one. Soon it's not even going to be a Space Station but an asteroid based Research Facility. Technically the station is a 'spacecraft' but that's a moot point because they don't have captains, they have commanders. Land based Research Facilities definitely don't have Captains. Having an actual corporate title makes more sense. I don't mind either way to be honest chappie.

The station is indeed a ship in every dramatic sense that matters; it just happens to be stationary. As for oil rigs, I got 538,000 hits for 'oil rig captain' and 409,000 for 'oil rig manager.' And what do those hits say? Show me the captain of an oil rig job (those hits will refer to oil tankers, not rigs). The station is a station not a ship, otherwise it'd be a ship. It doesn't function as a ship does at all and no, calling the jail the brig and the power supply the engine doesn't make it a ship, it just make usage of those words wrong. The station has no means of locomotion and is meant to be a stationary mass. God help us when the new map comes out as the station will then be on land.
