I don't know man, sometimes I feel like we have too many weapons to be honest and that lasers should be the main event. On topic though, a reduction in "charge" size sounds cool if balance has been an issue recently.

OOC REAL TALK: Gonna be doing this event this Sunday (24/09) at around 1pm burger time (EST?). Everyone ok with this? Bring ya pro-ATLAS BOIS and your anti-ATLAS nerds.

Heavy Roleplay

This is a special appeal to halorocks and his battle with aids Give your replies freely and with love One reply = one prayer to Allah Thank you

Truuuuue, but the defib still allows ya to come back with a minor increase in wait time whilst getting rid of the clone nonsense. It's win win.
-
Cloning was put in because SS13 was supposed to be low roleplay borderline death match. In a heavy roleplay setting it's dumb. The idea that players can't roleplay beyond their super special character who must always survive and be the hero is depressing but I'll not soap box in this thread regarding that. The prep time for the defib idea is slightly longer then cloning so it won't impact on anyone's time out of round too much. The point is to just do away with the low rp that flows from cloning (who even roleplays being cloned properly?) and at the same time, open cloning as a research tool regarding protohumans and what not. It adds more avenues for roleplay.

[ACCEPTED] NTCC Odin - Minor Lore Expansion
Zundy replied to Zundy's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
There's already an Odin page since one paragraph of this description is on there, it's a minor update but I've spoken with canon and I'll write up more later regarding the ERT and what not. Changing O-sec to Station Civil Protection is fine with me! -
Disarm is largely stupid. Get rid of it outside of grapples. When grappled it can be used to pin and, if a limb is targeted disarm. "X is trying to disarm Y". If successful your character gains the item in question. If your characters hands are full it drops to the floor.

*** This review may contain spoilers *** Hive (as Adonis Tyrone Hitler) manages a fairly believable character because he gets enough game time. Unfortunately this is not true for the rest of the characters, who rarely seem more than two-dimensional. Despite the obvious talents of Hackie, The Autist Formerlly Known as Delta, Fire, Garn and others, not much of substance comes out of this game. It's almost like a typically tepid made-for-TV drama, earnest in its themes but too mild in its execution, and too short. This is one game of recent vintage that feels not long enough for character and plot development. The story jumps ahead by several years at a time and we piece together the action through dialog. For those already informed, this isn't difficult, but for the rest it may seem too whirlwind and superficial. Comparing John Halder's dilemma to the very similar one of Michael Moriarty in HOLOCAUST (1978) it's easy to see the advantages of more game time, greater plot detail and a forceful dramatic approach. But Aurora is not a complete loss. The space locations are pleasing and effective, and the game has one unique touch: the use of music by Gustav Mahler to suggest Adonis Tyrone Hitler's subtle connection to a great culture heritage created by memes. This is effective as long as the viewer realizes we are hearing Mahler every time Adnois has one of his strange epiphanies. We can guess that Halder values this music as he values his meme friend (Hackie) and so the ultimate irony is set in motion. Not a bad thread, but too mild-mannered and lacking in real dramatic weight.

[ACCEPTED] NTCC Odin - Minor Lore Expansion
Zundy replied to Zundy's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Cool man, edited as follows: "The commercial district contains various NanoTrasen commercial departments including key corporate offices and NanoTrasen's local Extranet. Station Security (O-Sec) is housed here." -
Type Station - NTCC Odin Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): N/A Region of Space: Tau-Ceti Controlled by (if not a faction): NT """Long"""" Description: The NTCC Odin, or NanoTrasen Central Command, is the primary headquarters for the NanoTrasen Corporation in Tau Ceti, and the primary focal point of the Corporation in space. The station is just under the NanoTrasen Headquarters in Mendell City. At the end of every shift crew can take a shuttle back to the Odin to end their working day. The Odin consists of three arms surrounding a command spire: The residential block, the industrial block and the commercial block. The residential block contains housing, shopping and leisure facilities with accommodation ranging from simple hab sleeper booths to luxury apartments. The richest district of the residential block is known as "Archway" for its faux stone facades and is home to many corporate executives and senior members of NanoTrasen. The Industrial block contains various phoron and materials refining facilities alongside ship maintenance blocks. Space is at a premium on the station so it is known for small storage rooms to be sub-let within the district. This practice has formed one of the poorest areas on the station - the "Refinery Block". Those not wishing to rent hab sleepers yet possessing insufficient credits for a box apartment can find cramped, grimy but affordable housing here. The commercial district contains various NanoTrasen commercial departments including key corporate offices and NanoTrasen's local Extranet. Station Security (Civil Protection) is head quartered here. At the head of the command spire is located Tau Ceti's NanoTrasen Emergency Response Team (ERT) Command and facilities; this includes private docks for ERT vessels, armories and living quarters. At the base of the command spire are the station's docking facilities, with the lower berths serving the numerous heavy freight and mining vessels that traverse Tau Ceti and the upper serving as private dockland that services various ships ranging from luxury cruisers to system transports and junk barges. It is not unknown for some of the station's citizens to live within their personal spacecraft to avoid paying rental fees for station accommodation and only having to pay dock rental fees instead. The station defences are split into three systems: The first defence system is two private military frigates permanently stationed at the Odin - NTV Diewana and NTV Ogun, the crew of which is drawn from staff on rotation from the Odin. When in Sol Alliance space they are both licensed under Private Military Vessel Licences (PMV). Both are capable of Atmospheric Operations. As a second defence system the station itself is ringed by state of the art point defence laser systems and an array of blue space artillery canons. Whilst serving as one of the station's defensive measures, the weapons array can also allow the station to function as a Battle Cluster Defence Station for Biesel if it were required to do so. The third defence system is the paramilitary ERT teams supplemented by equipment enhanced Civil Protection units which can be deployed to repel borders or maintain the peace on the station in times of extreme civil disobedience.

100% this. As it stands cloning is lame.

Yeah, a bit of a segue but some sound effect to denote someone is talking in the vicinity would be awesome. Perhaps even have them have different sounds per gender and species.

Re.CCIA - ATLAS Biesel Storm Division Visit To whom it may concern, The ATLAS Biesel Storm Division (BSD) is hoping to host a get together on the NSS Aurora II. The meeting will consist of guest speakers and light refreshment. Station Security members will be present at the meeting to ensure compliance with station directives and regulations. Security officers present will be operating outside of work hours and as such there will be no cost to Nanostrasen. The light refreshment which includes alcoholic and soft drinks will be purchased in bulk from station suppliers and will consequentially bring revenue to the Nanostrasen. The BSD will be using the holodeck as the primary venue and will also be accessing the public restrooms on station. The organiser, Mellis Laurenzi - Shaft Miner, will meet with heads of staff on the day to discuss logistics and compliance before the event begins. The event in brief, will consist of introductions, leadership voting, guest speakers and an open floor. Crew members on breaks and general visitors are welcome to attend as long as they have been authorised to do so by the heads of staff on duty. Please let me know if you have any caveats, queries or reservations. Sincerely yours, Mellis Laurenzi

[Accepted] Head of Staff whitelist: Pacmandevil
Zundy replied to Pacmandevil's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Can't really judge an IC reaction from a non managerial character for a head whitelist. If he was playing QM and didn't do it then that's vaild critcism. In theory the miners shouldn't be delivering the goods at all, it should be cargo techs. -
OOC Real Talk May as well ask in here rather then making a new thread to keep it centralised. What time IRL is good for everyone? Weekends? My thoughts are Saturday at X time. I'm GMT+1 timezone atm but I'm up for stayin gup late for you cuties.

I have found out how to pay for college
Zundy replied to hivefleetchicken's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Please come home son, your mother and I miss you. Sending all my prayers. -
Well if that is the case, I notice it isn't reflected very well in game. Perhaps some form of directive is required to hammer home that the station is a research station based around researching phoron, and that phoron is fucking expensive so don't vent it into space for jokes.
-
I love you and i miss you. Now that's out of the way, three things: 1) Can we please make Phoron canonically expensive and therefore not to be wasted in game. 2) Can we make NT have a monopoly of Phoron, making it a driving force behind the lore and our setting. 3) Add more phoron centric research options as the station is supposed to be from mining, processing and researching phoron primarily, not a gun factory or a hospital from a sitcom. Perhaps different states of Phoron, isotopes, materials, weapons (if we must) etc. As it stands, phoron seems to be as expensive as the round demands (read: as cheap as fucking gasoline as a rule of thumb these days) cheapening it as a plot device. Everyone seems to have their own magical reserves of the stuff, cheapening it as a plot device and finally, no one bloody researches the stuff in game, removing it's plot impact and worth as a device. It's gotten to the point where command staff will whimsically vent all the plasma reserves on station to prevent "bomb making". Thoughts?

Surely Rambo McSci is an ahelp issue? I like the idea of the pins from an RP point of view as it encourages interaction.
