I mean, I could see how things in this subforum could become canon if some lore dev positions shifted and changed, but the latter description is the truer of the two.

Hro'zamal Colony Founded 07.10.2459 An outpost of the Grand People's Navy has recently been upgraded to colony status by the Ministry of Colonial Affairs today following an application by the 15,000 non-military inhabitants. Formerly known as Nrrahrahul One system, or Outpost One, the new colony has long been the only out of system outpost held by the People's Republic. The outpost was originally constructed in 2445 for anti-piracy operations. Under the new colony status, it has been renamed Hro'zamal under Ministry of Colonial Affairs appointed Governor Arrleef Pondiskarr. The position of the system has proven helpful for its location between the frontier and the S'rand'marr system. The colony itself is on a planet which is barely habitable to Tajara for its exceptional heat. Lush jungles cover most of the planet, and hostile xenofauna create a hostile environment. Only small settlements exist planet side around the poles, and most colonials live aboard the naval station in orbit. The planet is simply named "Hro'zamal Two" for its placement away from the system's star. Applications for state funded settlement on the new colony are already open. Currently Governor Pondiskarr plans on building a capital city, Muldhir, within the next two years planetside using state of the art HVAC technology with housing. Despite being the first interstellar colony of the Tajara, Hro'zamal Two is far inferior to Adhomai in terms of natural resources with few helpful metals surveyed in its crust. The inhospitable environment is also a challenge going forward, as officials are highly concerned about heat related deaths to Tajara who emigrate there. Despite these factors, the planet has become a topic of exceptional interest by xenobiologists who have been exploring the jungles on expeditions to learn about the local plant and wildlife. In her press release announcing that colonization applications were now open, Governor Pondiskarr stated, "She sees no gods up here."

There's some... problems with this application. The D'asral Massacre is referenced frequently, but you seem to have gotten everything about it wrong. Here is the aforementioned Massacre. The People's Republic was founded in 2431, the revolution had not even broken out prior to the massacre. The current year in game is 2459, so being a young adult for the massacre would place your character as an old man on station. There's also an issue with the kill count of the massacre, you seem to believe the entire casualty number of combatants of the whole first revolution combined was the amount of people who died in the massacre. I don't like this. There have been problems in the past with abusive Tajaran security personnel. I also find it strange that, as a teenager who only ever knew his abusive father's farm, he somehow knew about one very specific station in space at one system with a crew of about 60 people, and said to himself: I want to be a security officer there. It's a little goofy and ultra-specific, but the enthusiasm is endearing and makes me smile. Though, with the timeline problems here, he would be having this dream prior to 2421 since he witnessed the D'as'ral Massacre after having this hope. But the station wasn't even built until the early 2450's. At any rate, this application didn't really demonstrate good knowledge of the lore, it just kinda threw out some random proper names and events without understanding context or even continuity. The feedback in the thread also leads me to believe that maybe you're not ready yet to join the Tajaran community on station. If I were you, I would play for a few more months and settle in on the server a little bit, new players do tend to be at a de facto disadvantage when applying for whitelists. Hang out for awhile, make some friends, get some playtime under your belt. Along the way, you can probably learn a lot of the lore by osmosis from just being on the station and hearing about events, but if gradual learning isn't your thing, I would recommend taking a closer look at the Tajara main page. Application denied.

Maybe I'm just a filthy casual, but I never really take part in combat because I don't really play security characters. So, anytime anything goes down, I die. Armed with meta-knowledge, the last thing I want to do is hop in round 30 minutes later as someone else. In general, my intention in a round is to play a specific character so switching up 30 minutes after death is usually I'd rather have the chance to be cloned and play through the memory loss effects. The fact that I know cloning is a possibility, if anything, is incentive to cooperate with obvious antagonists and their gimmicks. They get their free victim, I get a little bit of excitement, I maybe get to join later and resume play as the person I wanted to interact in the round with. Without cloning, the incentive is in the other direction to instead be unreasonably uncooperative to stay in the round longer. Getting sucked to death by a vampire in the first 20 minutes is no biggie if I just get cloned, but without cloning following that stranger to a dark place for an OOCly obvious trap is as good as going cryo. It discourages good RP in favor of staying alive to get actual playtime.

Thanks! This is a gold mine of constructive criticism. When I first took my position, the NKA really did get a favorite treatment, you hit that nail on the head. Prior to Sue's departure, the NKA did not exist at all in lore and when I came in they were very far behind in development, especially considering the Hive-era had strong progress in ALA lore. I'll have to keep the bit about the PRA well in mind. My personal bias against communism may have left me neglecting them as the bastard child when really- as the biggest faction- they should have the most going on. Fortunately (I think?) the two biggest events developing in Tajara lore within the next month or so are both based out on the PRA, so hopefully that will give the players something nice to chew on. In regards to whitelist backstories: I think what happened was that people caught on that I figured if they made a humble working class Tajara from the ALA, that it would warm my heart. For awhile there, ALA was pretty much dead on station since G'wir Syum'diad wasn't around, so when those applications came strolling in, I was excited about the prospect of getting more. But, you're right. Where it used to be ground breaking, it's now become a stereotype.

I'm in love with the idea. Lore can be confining at times when there's things I want to write, but they would be too snowflakey or couldn't possibly be canon. At worst wr get dumb stories, at best the players get to explore new horizons based on our setting.

Hello all! I have been your Tajara lore overseer and developer since October of 2016, in other words, a year! The species and its player base have changed dramatically since I first took the helm of lore development all that time ago, and in PMs I've had a few points of contact who were always good about either letting me know about how they felt about certain changes and events or otherwise helped me draft up some of the newer bits of lore. With all of this in mind, the species are not going to remain stagnant, and there are some large (non-retcon) changes coming in the near future as news events unfold and the narrative shifts. SO I wanted to take this opportunity to gauge my capabilities and the community's opinions on them before moving forward. How do you feel I have been doing as a lore developer (in terms of writing new lore)? How do you feel I have been doing as a whitelist manager? Have I been too strict/lenient when processing applications? How do you feel about the different factions? Are all the new pages on the wiki easy to navigate? Information easy to quickly access and find? Have I done a good job of being responsive to questions and concerns? Do you have any questions (within reason of spoilers) you would like answered regarding the immediate future of the Tajaran race? Is there anything in particular you would like to see added or improved upon? This is your chance to cue me in to my performance as well as to make popular demands!

Underground Counterfeit Ring Discovered 27.09.2459 The People's Strategic Intelligence Service has informed the Adhomai Chronicle staff today that a rogue counterfeit operation for Sol Alliance Credits run by Adhomai Liberation Army Rebels has been discovered in Nal'Tor. Amidst allegations of inflating the presence of Sol Alliance Credits in the developing economy of the People's Republic some months ago, the PSIS began its intensive investigation in major cities through the People's Republic. They gained a big lead last month when an informant notified them about the delivery of black briefcases to known business fronts of rebel operations within the city. After making undercover purchases, agents discovered the banknotes they received as change were counterfeit. The agents then staked out the locations until they found the couriers bringing the briefcases of illegitimate credits, and followed them back to the industrial district of the city. In the basement of a leather works factory, the insidious printing operation was uncovered, which was shut down in a law enforcement raid this morning. The ring leaders, however, managed to escape. President Hadii released a statement congratulating the agents of the PSIS for their efforts, personally awarding the agent in charge of the investigation with the Award for Tajaran Excellence- the highest civilian honor in the People's Republic. The closing of this large operation is a great service to our young Republic, which requires a stable currency such as the Sol Alliance Credit for international trade. Despite the speed and vigor of the government's initiative to curb the inflation of credits on the planet, the Sol Alliance Central Bank has declined to close their investigation into allegations of wrongdoing in the Nal'Tor Mint.

All Tajara whitelist applications must have some tie to the planet Adhomai. Whitelist applications are intended to demonstrate both knowledge and understanding of lore. But, the idea of someone illegally sneaking into a chem lab all the time with stolen IDs and teaching themselves chemistry, to me, seems too far fetched- and also not a good qualification to work as a chemist. Application denied.

You've done a better job of fleshing out your character and giving us more insight to his story. The narration from the first perspective also adds a quality artistic flair which gives us a good feeling for who the character is and how he thinks. So, you're definitely responsive to constructive feedback. I'm not going to judge based on grammar so long as its legible, and it is, so don't worry there. However, I have to echo the sentiments of the others. While its a refreshing application for not shoving the war down everyone's throats, it still has its downsides. Namely, the whole primitive from a cave dweller emerging into the sunlight for the first time in adulthood and then eventually becoming a space station worker. By virtue of being a disconnected primitive all their life, Narson Al'mas doesn't really have any ties to contemporary events on Adhomai or even any of its history. And there's more questions to be raised. Such as, if this cave-dwelling tribe has been separated from the surrounding Tajaran culture which has been civilized and settled for thousands of years, do they even speak the same language? How would they communicate with other Tajara upon being found, let alone going on to learn Tau Ceti Basic. The cultural alienation is also... something that needs to be brought up. This is equivalent to trying to integrate a literal caveman into modern society, but even worse because its trying to integrate a caveman into a space-faring galactic society. Would Narson Al'mas be able to even cope? It's also worth noting the immense anthropological implications. I'm sure they would be a subject of interest to study for some Adhomai-based educational center or another. At any rate, its creative, but I don't feel that it conveys understanding of the lore. You have a bulleted list of the differences in mechanics, but I don't really feel a proper understanding of the race and its themes. Application denied, but again, I think you can do it if you put your mind to it. -

While your rework is a lot better, being a primitive cave dwelling tribe prior to introduction to society is... strange to say the very least. I mean, imagine on being on post-globalist Earth with humans across the galaxy and not knowing anything beyond a cave on the modernizing homeworld. It's a bit goofy to me. Tajara by and large haven't been cave-dweller hunter-gatherers for thousands of years. But, putting aside just the premise, and I reiterate that your changes were a large jump in the right direction, the application is still a bit... simplistic? It gives more of a brief story about a tribe and less about who the character is. My advice would be to play a little bit more and redesign your character concept. I think a whitelist isn't out of your reach. Application denied. -

Gonna have to delay this one more day. Sorry again for the delay! -
You seem really enthusiastic and receptive to feedback. This is very good! However, I do have problems with your application. As your backstory stands, Wamahrir Hadii is very... detached from everything. As it currently stands, she could be rewritten as a human from an ATLAS-loyal family on Mars, and really it would all still work. To the Tajara, Wamahrir may as well be a human, and therefore alien. With nothing tying her to Adhomai, there's really no reason for her to be a Tajara. While it's fine to have a wealthy character, being a Hadii is a bit questionable. It's the most powerful noble dynasty on the planet which turned the tide of the first revolution with their defection and sits atop in command of the People's Republic of Adhomai. I'm not sure I'm entirely comfortable with a character being related to someone of such stature as noble dynasty aren't exactly large in size following the revolutionary killings of the early 25th century. But, last name was something you said you were willing to change. In the context of contemporary Adhomai, Clan is synonymous with family and a clan name is just a surname. I didn't have a problem with Wamahrir being from a wealthy family, but her life is a bit toooo sheltered for a planet experiencing its second world war. It's kind of a big deal which determines the fate of her race's entire future. I understand the draw to being an apolitical inoffensive centrist, but consider the severity of the situation and how feckless and carefree this stance paints your character. Not every backstory needs to contain "orphaned war survivor, been through the 'nam man!" but it should have a more tangible bearing on your backstory. Another thing to note is that the war did not break out until 2449 (if you count Azunja silently rallying conspirators for the New Kingdom as the start) or 2451 (if you count the massive increase in violence following the coup attempt by the Adhomai Liberation Army). The current in-game year is 2459, and your character was a research director which requires them to be at least 30 years of age. The decision to have Wamahrir immediately be sheltered and rasied off Adhomai as a small child doesn't really make sense, since the interwar period of 2432 to 2449 was known for its unnatural stability. Al-Mari Hadii was a very popular leader and even now the two biggest of the three factions both claim to be the successors to his legacy following his vision. At any rate, you don't seem like a bad roleplayer in any sense, but the way Wamahrir is written, there's really no reason to applying for a Tajara whitelist to play her. She is lacking in anything distinctly Tajaran in nature and would fit far better as a human in our setting. Application denied.

[Accepted]JamOfBoy's Tajara Application

Hoofh, that right there was strong. I don't really have much to say about the application overall, whether because I'm a bit tired or because I want to push out a verdict instead of keeping you waiting any longer. The latter meaning, I see no reason to delay or anything I want further clarification on. It's a more orthodox approach to Tajara character construction with the typical war refugee past, but it's not badly written by any means. Application approved.
