  1. What prevents you from just asking the HoP / Captain if they need/want a assistant ? Once you have played enough times as one and performed well in that job, they will ask you to do it if they see you aboard.
  2. Interesting idea, but where should it show up ? New Column or in one of the existing ones ?
  3. Power Requirement -> Yes Paper Requirement -> Yes Remove the ability to send faxes when tcoms is down --> Not sure about it. Remove the ability to call ERT through the fax machine --> Nope Let me expand on the last two points. Remove ability to fax when tcoms is down If we take a real live example. Cell service requires cell towers, computers that process the signal, .... much like tcoms ingame. But if you take fax machines, they are way simpler and way more robust All you need to operate a fax machine is power and a telephone line. The thing about this telephone line is, that usually at the termination point of the old analog lines there are (were) big battery packs that keep the line working for a extended period of time even if the power in the area goes down, so you are able to make emergency calls via that line during a power outage. And this should be represented ingame. Even if the normal "cell network" is down. The fax should still be available because it uses a different way to transmit a message over a longer range. What I could think off is adding a delay to messages that are sent outside of the station. Wanna fax centcom, well wait 5 minutes for the fax to get there
  4. Yes we definitely need this. I would suggest a dropdown menu where you can select what type of emergency access is needed. The following types would be included: medical emergency access for when a patient needs to be rescued security emergency access if there is greytider that needs to be prodded engineering emergency access if there is a chair that needs to be placed janitor emergency access if there is a mess that needs to be cleaned qm and cargo tech mergency access for those important crates hop emergency access for those urgent demotions greytide emergency access so the baldies can get easier into various places (this also alerts security and enables security emergency access so they can more efficiently take down the baldie) [/sarcasm off] No we dont need that. What prevents the Paramedic from just asking the AI to open that area ? Or anyone that works in that department ? Or any engineer thats near by ? Or any borg ? And if there is really an emergency, and you cant reach anyone. Just smash in the nearest window. It seems useless and redundant and I do not see how this suggestion contributes to RP, in fact it seems to be "the easy way out" by just providing a button to click instead of being forced to ask other people for help. (Be it the Ai or whatever)

    New gamemode?

Binned because the author has not responded and it does not fit our environment
  6. The feature has been added to the webpanel. It is now possible to grant certain people the ability to edit the library. Everyone can access the library here
  7. Using this argument I can remove every single department except RnD from the station. Oh and it would be nice if you would actually read more then the first paragraph of the suggestion before posting something.
  8. My idea is to add a command support "department". They are responsible for ensuring that command is able to make better decisions and provide them with the information they need. The following areas fall into their responsibility: Command Coordination Recon ICT The head of the department is the "Commander of Support Operations". He is a head of staff but holds no power in any decision that requires approval by command. His job is to present the gathered information to command and allow them to make a better decision. Of course he is able to give a recommendation on what to do in a certain situation, but he has no power in a vote. Details on the areas of responsibility: Command Coordination: Right now when something happens, someone screams "help" over coms. Command Coordination (ComCor) is there to provide the departments with as much information as they can gain about the thread. ComCor will make a recommendation on what forces to dispatch to a specific threat/situation. They also have the ability to act as a emergency call center if the relevant heads of staff wish to set one up. ComCor also takes over the duties of IA such as staff reviews, departmental audits (if those are required) and keeping CC informed about the situation on the station Recon: Usually what happens now, is that information comes in as someone spots something somewhere. If you are lucky you can get them to tell you a location. The recon branch of the command support department is tasked with HumInt (HumanIntelligence) and SigInt (SignalIntelligence). HumInt: This can be as trivial as investigating stuff that is mentioned over coms and can go to fully equipping the first responders of each department with equipment to transmit audio and vido data back to the command center and thereby enabling ComCor to make better suggestions. SigInt: They are equipped with various items that allows them to: See the radio channel usage (Maybe a waterfall display) Triangulate radio transmissions, by using a gps and a receiver that displays the angle to the transmitter. Additional ideas ? Information and Communication Technology Tasked with the maintenance of the computer and communication systems and possible ties into this suggestion: Malware As well as archival and retrieval of all records Command Support Facilities: The Command Support department will have a few rooms around the station: The Control Room - Is the main base of operations with separate areas for ICT, Recon and ComCor as well as a office for the departmental head. 2x Server Rooms (Main/Backup) - These server romms contain all the important equipment from ICT such as the access control server, the records server, ... The server rooms are redundant and on different z-levels (or the opposite side of a z-level) so taking out the server rooms will be quite difficult but also bring a high reward with it, if someone actually manages to pull it off. Maybe merge it with tcoms ?
  9. I am not sure if you are kidding or serious right now. Even if you are a totally robust guy who is 100$ sure that he can flash the hostage and throw-baton the hostage taker, forceful resolution is not the first way to go. And what you propose is a unplanned assault (which is the last way to go)
  10. LOGIN >> devel01 PASSWORD >> ***************** ACCESS LEVEL >> DEVELOPER NET ACCESS >>GRANTED CONNECTION STATUS >>SECURE WELCOME Please let me drop off a word of warning here. IAC Personnel, Installations and Vessels are protected under the Lunar Convention. Attacking such a personnel, vessel or installation will brand you as a war criminal in the territory of all entities that signed the lunar convention.
  11. Yes makes sense. Regarding the Read Only CCIA Records: The web part is already implemented (i.e. CCIA can add records to players and players can see their records in the wi) The serverside part will be merged in a few weeks. (i.e. Allow access to ccia records via the employment record console)
  12. I kind of like the idea of having a office for the paramedics. Keep in mind that a paramedic is not a doctor (most of the time). Becoming a paramedic is not that hard. (8 weeks theoretical course, internship, test and you are a paramedic) Basically how it works is that: * (critical care) paramedics and maybe a emergency physician (depending on the type of emergency) are dispatched to a call * They stabilize the patient and bring him to the nearest hospital equiped to handle the emergency. I hope a own office for paramedics disencourages doctors from heading out on their own to retrieve patients (Its not in their job description)
  13. I do not support this, as shutters as a way of blocking the vision into a area have their uses. Lets say you got space carp in an area --> Easiest thing: Drop the shutters --> They cant see you --> They wont come for you
  14. Already thought of that but it doesnt apply to us because: * We dont have voting ranges * We dont have a council (but exactly 1 gamemode we can choose)
  15. The issue with out voting system is, that it does not encourage diversity. Right now we just have the standard secret round with the occasional mercenary round. And the very rare extended round. What happens is that people vote strategically. Some might want to play for example ninja, but they vote for something else, because they want to prevent a gamemode they dont want under any circumstances So we end up most of the time with 2 or 3 different round types. So I propose: Weighted Randomness Basically it works that way: Secret gets removed Every vote for any gamemode gets added to the "random pool" Once the time is up a random entry is picked from the random pool If it is extended, the gamemode is displayed so people have time to get their high-rp chars if its something else the gamemode is shown as secret With an example (with 20 voters): 4 vote for autotraitor 2 vote for ling 3 votes for merc 1 vote for wizard 2 vote for heist 3 vote for ninja 5 people vote for extended What would happen with the old system, is that altough people want their favourite game mode, they vote for secret (where their favourite game mode might or might not be included) just because they want to prevent extended. With the new system this is not a concern any-more: People can vote for what they want and every gamemode got a change of being the selected gamemode These are the individual chances of a specific gamemode being selected: autotraitor: 20% ling: 10% merc: 15% wizard: 5% heist: 10% ninja: 15% extended: 25% Overall there is a 75% chance that it is a antag-round So people wouldnt have to strategically vote anymore to prevent a mode that they dont want from happening and could choose the gamemode they like the most. Opinions, Comments ?
  16. I dont see any issues with the current system of paperwork we have. Filling it out takes not even a minute and it covers your ass if something goes wrong.
  17. During a average round you wont end up with more than a few 100 cargo points. (If you dont have miners that provide you with income) So if you make the prices high enough, it´s very unlikely that you get more than one of these emergency crates per round. I would say that setting a high enough point limit is enough to prevent these crates from being ordered too often. All in All, I support this suggestion.
  18. Most of that gear can be ordered already. And for that stuff thats missing it shouldn´t be too hard to add in a few extra crates for cargo that can be ordered All in All I am in favour of this suggestion
  19. I think we are a bit of topic here since a whitelist is already discussed somewhere else. Back on topic: I dont think that this will be possible with our current security force. Most people dont know that they need a warrant to arrest or search someone on green. If we get the issues with security sorted out, then yes I would support this, but until then this is going to be abused by sec.
  20. This is now something that I am working on actively. What has been done already: View Records online Parsedown formating of records (But that will be removed, because we dont support parsedown ingame; and this breaks the style of a few records) To confirm the (initial) requirements: Ability to mark specific chars as public / private (Default private ?) Ability to share specific chars with selected people via a custom link ? (Yes/No) What data of a char should be shown ? (Name, Species, Gender, Age, Records; something else ?) Should the ckey of the owner be shown ? A template will not be enforced for the char records A option to load a template will be provided Please use this template below to answer the above questions: Default character visibility: [public/private] Sharing with custom link: [yes/no] Data that should be shown: [List of attributes] Show ckey: [yes/no] Any other comments, ....:
  21. No, it will only increment if you have played a full round in the same job
  22. Nanako is a capable dev, but sadly what Killerhurtz mentioned is also quite true. She has the ability to focus on and inflate minor things in a way that distract they distract from the bigger goals. (As seen recently in here)
  23. Well, good question. The easiest thing would be to add the 30 rounds to everyone who has joined the server before a specific date.
  24. We can argue on what term is the correct one to use, but this will not effect what the suggestion is about and therefore there is no use in arguing about this.
