  1. It´s a mixed bag. I say yes for the very basic stuff like bic, kelo, dex (not dex plus) but no for everything else. There needs to be a learning curve and it shouldnt be just "I am a good chemist as long as the wiki is available". And I think it would remove a lot of RP between two chemists trying to find the "best" way to quickly make a advanced medicine
  2. Well, this was bound to happen one day. Now every idiot can do telesci. But anyways. Thanks for the effort.
  3. Cable coil would make more sense IC wise. With a welder, once you have molten something down, you cant "unmelt" it. But that are just details
  4. Last thing I heard we still have the supermatter, but the Tesla is also available on the sublevel. (Altough some setup is required)
  5. Right now: We just pretend that the payment happened. Basically the "workflow" is like that: * Contract gets posted * Contract gets approved by moderator --> Visible to everyone and ingame via pda * Messages can be posted on a contract --> If you post on a contract you are automatically subscribed to further updates * If a success message is posted the contract is marked as completed and the contract creator has the option to confirm the completion or reject the completion --> If confirmed, the credits are "transferred" and the contract is marked as closed. --> If rejected the contract is marked as open again Later on once / if we implement a economy system credits will be transferred automatically. But there will also be a field for "other reward", so people can offer different rewards that are not transferred automatically. If thats done its recommended to just make a ooc remark on how the reward will be handled (ic-meeting, simulate a transfer, ...) But ic character credits != syndie credits. Because the one is tied to a IC Character where as the other is tied to a player on the server. There are already a few ideas lurking around the discord dev chatroom on what to do with the syndie credits once/if they are implemented (Also they will most likely be renamed to something else then credits to be less confusing)
  6. I am with MagnificentMelkior and Nanako on this one. The straight jacket´s very purpose is to prevent people from escaping it. Yes, some people might overuse it in situations where other means can be used. I would suggest an IC Regulation to prevent these problems. If a warden / whatever feels the need to apply a straight jacket to a prisoner he needs to call medical to get a psychological evaluation for that prisoners. If said prisoner is deemed mentally unstable, he is transferred to medical for treatment. The straightjacket should only be used to transfer a prisoner to and from medical and for treatment in medical. If the warden / someone else decides to straightjacket a prisoner without involvement from medical they should be subject to mistreatment of prisoner charges.
  7. From what I´ve seen hes one of the better officers
  8. I´ll just post this screenshot here and leave the rest up to you. Oh, and that's also the reason why I added the requirement that contracts are moderated before they are available in the first place. Edit: Seems like I am too stupid to figure out how attachments work.
  9. I like all the ideas. Including the bluespace breaker. We are a sci station, so why shouldnt the jani get to use some of the good stuff ?
  10. LOGIN >> devel01 PASSWORD >> ***************** ACCESS LEVEL >> DEVELOPER NET ACCESS >>GRANTED CONNECTION STATUS >>SECURE WELCOME The same guy from the previous messages appears on the video screen again
  11. I havnt seen this thread until now, The better place to post contracts would be the webpanel(once I have changed the login system to work with the new forums) because they can then be accessed ingame via the traitor uplink.
  12. Because you can carry it in your backpack
  13. Thanks for all the support. I already got a few ideas for some interesting projects.
  14. Wow, thats a very interesting idea. I love it.
  15. As someone predicted at the start: This thing is still going on. So can we just make a vote out of it ? I suggest the following options: * Dont change anything (my preferred option) * Add a new mode called secret antag and leave secret as is (I could also go with that) * Remove extendet from secret This vote shall be held on non-nt voting machines If you read the news you should get this one
  16. Im´m in
  17. Very interesting concept. Would love to see how it turns out. Has my +1
  18. BYOND key: Arrow768 Character names: Richard Jonson, Karl Jonson, Paul Jonson, Foxtrott How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since Q4 2015 Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: To make engineering great again. When I am on the server engineering is usually completely understaffed. I want to change that by providing providing opportunities for interested players to join engineering, learn the basics and maybe win them as permanent engie players Why did you come to Aurora?: I wanted to play on a more slow paced server Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Role play is being someone else. Becoming that person and doing what that person would do. A very important part is having fun with other people. Thats why we are all here, isnt it ? What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Moving to a command position changes a few things. In a command position, you might have the skill to do every possible task but you dont do these tasks. You are there to organize your department. To delegate tasks and then check if they have been completed successfully. You are also there for advice, if you co workers dont know what to do in a certain situation. This also means helping out new players and teaching them what engineering is about. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Your job is not only to make sure your department works and everyone knows what they should do, but to make the round interesting for people that wish to play a active role in it. I plan to do this by offering various construction project to people that wish to participate in them. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Richard Jonson Character age: 42 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): He grew up on Phorston, a Mid-Sized City on New Gibson, where he attended the Engineering Branch of the local HTBLuVA. During his time in the HTBLuVA he gained basic experience in all engineering related areas. After his graduation at the age of 18 he decided to join the IAC during a voluntary social year, where he completed the training to become a paramedic and rescue vehicle driver. The social year was over in a breeze and he found a interesting job offer as a development engineer for Advanced Atomics, but he still continued to work for the IAC on a voluntary base. In his first years he provided valuable contributions to the development of various engines including the Advanced Atomics Mk.1 Fission Reactor. After the development of the Mk.1 he got promoted to a project manager position where he was in charge of development and commissioning of various nuclear reactors and the required infrastructure. At that time he also decided to leave the IAC because he was travelling all over Tau Ceti and didn't have a lot of time to spare. After many years as a project manager he was assigned to a project that should be the crown jewel in advanced atomics line-up. It was the day of the factory acceptance test, when a accident happened and the new crown jewel blew up into pieces. Shortly after the accident he decided to leave advanced atomics after 18 years in their service. After an extensive stay in the hospital he started looking for another job that he found at NT. He passed the Upper-Management Aptitude Test a while after he joined NT and has recently managed to gain experience as a CE (Detailed dates can be found in the employment records) What do you like about this character?: He has a good all around knowledge and knows when to delegate stuff. But hes also not afraid to get his hands dirty if he is needed. He is also the last one to stop his colleagues from trying something out if appropriate safety precautions are taken. What do you dislike about this character?: After the accident he became quite keen on following proper procedure and ensuring that every possible outcome is thought off. If there is a chance that something can go wrong he will demand additional safety measures. He has gained experience in most areas of engineering except tcoms, where he only knows what they tought at school and that was a long time ago and not much. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He knows the ropes and knows what to do in an emergency, but he will delegate to staff if its possible and they are willing to participate. He also has extensive knowledge in project management and there is not much you can tell him about the different engines. (Be it supermatter, sing or tesla) And he also has at least a good grasp on how to perform all the tasks a CE might encounter. He is also not afraid to ask for help if hes not exactly sure on how to perform a task. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I think its pretty good, but there is still stuff I can learn and improve. Extra notes: I worked quite a while on that app and never got around to posting it. Now is the time.
  19. @ Dreamix, I fully support your idea. A break room is intentionally not at your workplace, because you are supposed to have a break. Talk with your colleagues, tell them that you are going to take a break and will be unavailable for X minutes. Have the intern man the desk in the meanwhile And if something comes up in the meanwhile, then intern needs to handle it and if its urgent call for backup on the radio (At least thats how we do it at work; If someone comes in between while we have a break our intern is trained to ask people if they have an appointment and to tell them to come back later if they dont (Most of them dont, and if they do we dont make a break when we expect them to arrive))
  20. I would support adding rev to the secret rotation (I thought its already in there)
  21. Let me remind you that this is a high rp server and as in real live there is a chance that its "just another day in the office". Only because its voted secret you should not join a specific department or "prepare" stuff thats not done in extended (Metagaming anyone ?) As mentioned before: This will just lead to a pagelong discussion with nothing happening at the end.
  22. If you are for realism, then I have to add that there is no such thing as a vending machine that can be refilled without opening the maint hatch.
  23. This has my full support. Keep disposals in communal on the new make, make sure they are crit when they arrive at cargo. Maybe add a "sensor" to the disposals bin that detects a unusual high load and announces it on the sec and med channel after the contents have been flushed. If it is added and a warden wants to change it, he can always contact the local engineering department to do so. It takes about 5 minutes and then you cycle everyone back into the brig again If you do this as a engineer, make sure to add a few extra turns for a increased fun factor Do note that you can place 4 bent pipes instead of two normal ones and achieve the same thing ?
  24. A dedicated position for training people on the job is a interesting idea. But there are a few questions: * Is it really required ? * Why cant a cadet be assigned to a fellow officer ? * Does it need to be whitelisted ? -> If such a position is created, I would not whitelist it, but only allow ingame promotions to it. (No joining into that position) --> So if there is a officer willing to teach other people, then he should contact the HoS / HoP and get assigned to that position. About whitelisting security players: I do not think that this is a good idea because the very principal assumes that all players are bad sec players unless proven otherwise. Instead I would fully support a much strikter approach when it comes to sec job bans. If someone shows that they do not know the regulations then they should instantly receive a temp job ban from sec so they have the time to read up on the regulations. (Ie: Torture of Prisoners (Had a incident with a cap and a HoS), Procedures not followed (Arrest without announcing charges, Arrest / Search on Green without a warrant, ...; Multiple incidents on all levels) If they continue to show bad behaviour perm ban them from sec.
  25. Same here, they are not op. I played xenobio for the first time in a very very long time used all the pens and did not let a single slime escape. (Even tough the RD, IPC, went into one of the pens and got sucked on quite good so I had 3 or 4 adult slimes in the pen after he ended his little experiment) Just follow the guides, and you will be fine
