  1. Heeeello, I'm back, kind of, I won't be around all the time, I'm here rn. Help me make 'borgs more atmospheric! Thread below.

  2. As the OP asks, can you think of any atmospheric thing I could add to 'borgs to help make them feel more personable and real? As an example, sound effects?
  3. I updated the OP to make it more simple for people to help me here
  4. I'm back in a reduced capacity, so I guess this thread is misleading; I edited it. Basically, I'm back to make changes to my PR's potentially and help improve them with the new skills I've developed while I was gone, and also to chat a bit. Dunno how long or what i'll end up doing exactly.
  5. Hello, 1 and a half year later. I put a lot of looove into animating and spriting these. This is about the Bongoborgo sprite rework, which includes all of the current sprites + their animations. I'm considering returning to do another full rework of them in a new, more fluid animation style that I've learned, but first I need feedback on what the current climate of the server is again, I'm really out of touch after being gone for so long, and I'm still not sold on coming back in totality, maybe just touching up my projects and 🚪🏃‍♀️ PRs here: Lemme know if you think the current 'borgs are cute and how to make them cuter. Bongoborgo Spiderbots + animations So far to make Borgs more expressive, colorful and personable, I've. Gave each sprite department colors Created a Intent light system, bound it to a new layer so they glow in the dark. Brought an entire new selection of highly detailed sprites into the mix. Animated all 'borgs sprites except the only humanoid one, the HD-MAD. Added new law wordings, gave important subheaders to help people follow the laws correctly. Added a new animation for selecting a 'borg sprite (nice little spark), MattAtlas added the sprite selection wheel, thank them, but it certainly helps towards this purpose too. My desire here is for people to give me more ideas on how to make 'borgs more atmospheric!
  6. It floods the regular, underway projects stream with feedback threads otherwise, and I think would be a really *really* valid way to separate the feedback/original project threads into sections and address them.
  7. I understand people have issues with Marlon that have gone on for over 4 years, but he is one of the biggest contributors of Lore for Aurora in general, he practically created Auroras' entire setting... Taking him on a deputy just for that fact seems apt, and those who have an issue with him, can simply talk to the Unathi Loremaster who is his manager and never have to speak to him at all... It's a DEPUTY. They simply write and handle delegated duties from their manager, the Unathi lore dev. Marlon is *over qualified* for that, and if he just shhhs and people talk to his manager instead of him directly if they have an issue with him, there's no problem here at all, only benefits. +1 here, on the caveat that Marlon should have to try his best to be polite as hecc to those who dislike him.
  8. A bit late, but Kermit is the primary person who did Auroras' Chemistry rework and stuff too, I've worked very closely with them on that project where we both brought our idea to reality -- I trust them a lot and my experience working with them was only positive, I dunno how well that kind of experience will translate to moderation, but it at least speaks strongly of maturity and tact.
  9. I'm a bit late to the retirement party, but thank you so much Skull, not only for the stuff you've taught me about coding, but putting up with the (admittedly small) amount of nonsense I've been in through the years, and even though I'm no longer here, and I may return in the future, even now, my experience as a wiki dev and what I've learned from you about managing a community, is helping me to do these very same things -- The coding skills you've taught, the wiki development I learned, the management skills I've developed, all indirectly and some directly throug you, all of it's cultivated in me being able to, despite my smol brain, to be capable of developing a game of my own, actually... I'd have never made it that far without you, you really *really* should recognize the positive impact you have on people, and I hope now you can chill and enjoy the community you've fostered.
  10. I wrote an apology to you Here

Please take care of yourself, coalf.

  11. First I want to say that my time on Aurora has been incredibly good, I've had some highs and lows but I feel as if it the community has helped me grow deeply in some pretty troubling times, I think we all have had a pretty rough 1 and a half years... Well, I guess first of all, the lectures held by coders, the spriters who lend a hand on a whim, even the people who help you develop patience... Aurora has been an inspiring community, you all know who you are and what you've done and I thank you soooo much for all of my experiences here, I hope people enjoy the things I've been able to do with all of your help, the chemistry rework, the borg changes, all of it, that wasn't just me, I needed help to ever be able to do all of that. I'm sure many have noticed I haven't been around and don't worry about me, I'm fine, sincere thanks for everything. I dunno if I'll ever be back, please take care! but like, also, there's at least one person I think deserves an apology rather than just telling bye and recounting good times I think. @Coalf You didn't do anything wrong, I'm a firm believer that when something festers deeply inside of someone, it's their responsibility, noone elses, to fix that thing and set themselves straight. I'm sorry for the way I treated you in our last conversations, that was wrong, I should never have done that.
  12. Alright, as of now, the new laws are in. Note, we haven't swapped to the SCC yet, and the personnels were all changed into entities. That's p. Much it. 3 'to the best of your ability' + a law 3 rewrite to give Borgs a bit more leeway to help in a non aggresive way. Keep this thread informed if you notice a positive/negative difference and how.
  13. Right at the moment, I'm not sure removing traitor AI is on the table so much as improving AI laws for the second, they might be a subject people jump to after my PR is merged however, what do you think about the law changes? Also, keep me and pwate/itzal informed on how the new laws work in practice when they're merged, they can still be tweaked.
  14. I'm down, lemme change it on the github rn actually
  15. Stellar Corporate Conglomerate is too long, SCC is too abstract and indirect which'd lead to borg players not knowing what it meant, so I opted for Corporate Conglomerate, which is only a lot longer than NanoTrasen instead of massively longer.
  16. SCC added in place on NanoTrasen
  17. I could do that, yup, but that's a lot to parse in a law, sure thing tho, it's lore acknowledging and better
  18. Using your feedback, I've made a change to law 3. As of now, the suggested changes on the github are 'Protect Sapient life onboard' TO "Protect NanoTrasen personnel to the best of your abilities and refrain from deliberately causing harm to Sapient life."
  19. For now let's try to get this in and you should make a thread on its own for a revert of the lawset, so it can be discussed without chaining it purely to the AI whitelists' feedback/etc. I'm p. sure you'll have a lot more success if you make a feedback thread requesting a revert and for why/etc.
  20. Lawset QOL changes here; https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/11606 Especially made afew changes you'll appreciate I think @Cnaym
  21. Correcting myself, no heads can be traitors rn, and I'm still kinda onboard with removing the AI from traitor OR Adding some heads back to traitor ?
  22. Last I checked it's only specific heads of staff that can't roll traitor, though I'm actually not against the idea of removing the AI from it for the same reason as Captain can't
