Spider Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 as of now, the ninjas self destruct just requires the press of a button and instantly gibs those who were near the blast. There is no warning, and if anyone tries to avoid them when they're down, they're flagged for metagaming. It's pretty awful, exhausting yourself trying to take down a ninja only to not be able to continue the round because of dying to its cheap self-destruct. so suggestion: add a 2-3 second delay accompanied with a beeping sound and a text that would go along the lines of: "__ suit beeps loudly!". this would at least give people a chance to clear the blast radius without having to metagame that the ninja is a walking bomb. thank you : D
ben10083 Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 +1 Everytime ninja finally dies most of sec dies with them, not to mention the metagaming if you want to live problem.
driecg36 Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 +1 No reason not to have this, insta kills you can't avoid are pretty BS.
CommanderXor Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I have to give this a '-1. Why would someone's dead man switch give a warning to all those around them? It makes no sense for your kill-switch to come with a giant 'THIS WILL EXPLODE' and enough time for people to sprint outside the range.

AmoryBlaine Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Add it. Honestly, you can run, but your ass is still grass. But better grass than ash, in my opinion.
MattAtlas Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Should definitely have a timer yes. 2.5s should be fine.
Faris Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 It used to not gib you. Some beeping to indicate the explosion would be good in my opinion. Supporting.
Doc Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Give it the same sound effect as an activated grenade, and I can get behind it, but anything longer than that I can't abide. The entire point of a deadman's switch is to fuck the people that are trying to stop the person holding it- if you're nearby and get blown up by it, guess what- you were the target. That's what it's supposed to do. While I understand that a sudden explosion may be dissatisfying, it's absolutely not "without warning" or "random"- if it's gotten to that point, you've already practically asked for it, unless you're an unfortunate bystander. All that said, I'm still fine with at least as much of a sound effect as a grenade already does, given that's a far smaller explosive that still has a reasonable but not-quite-enough-to-always-avoid-it warning time with its sound effect. I'm under the impression that is about 1.5-2 seconds at the moment.
Haveatya Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 Game balance > realism is preferred for antag stuff. I agree with this. Used to want the tazer to stun in one shot with a reload like modern ones but balance i find preferable. Instant death things are meh. Whether its cyanide injection, instant bombing, etc. Officers should close to arrest or subdue the ninja, so to make doing their job almost assuredly lethal with no warning is not satisfying. This a game, sometimes you lose but it should always be fun!
Haveatya Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 another option is to weaken blast but keep it instant, blowing a leg or arm off the surrounding personnel, maybe taking eyes or givingn conussion gives more RP opportunities than 'ninja dead, sec dead, please restart'.
