[On Trial] Tyranny's Command Whitelist Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND key: TyrannyYT

Character names:
Ari Loren (Surgeon)
Victoria Rain (Roboticist)
Flora Owens (Paramedic)
Alice White (Chemist/Psychologist)
Daniella Wolff (Warden)
Ying Yue Jiang (Merchant)

How long have you been playing on Aurora?:
I've been playing since around late March.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:
I play a lot during dead hours, and seeing a lot of rounds go to complete chaos due to either little or no command staff has always frustrated me. After playing for a while I feel I'd like to try my hand at joining the command whitelist, and I'd also love to use it as an opportunity to develop a few of my characters careers more too.

Why did you come to Aurora?:
I came to Aurora looking for a more relaxed, roleplay oriented server. I played a lot on all the big LRP/MRP servers and never really enjoyed the mess that came with it. Aurora allowed me to create a character and really get into it in an environment that allows and encourages it.

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?:
I've read the roles I'm interested in multiple times.

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?
I've recieved one warning from Drago involving me using the name A.L.I.C.E as an AI, then misunderstanding that I shouldn't use it for any synthetic role and using it again as a borg.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:
Roleplay is acting a character out, whether it's in a game or acting on stage. I believe roleplay should be done in a believable way, characters should have flaws, they should react like a real human being would, and not how a human sitting behind a monitor would react to situations. Roleplay in a multiplayer environment like SS13, should also be done in a way that not only is believable, but creates a character that people can remember and want to interact with.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:
I feel that a Head of Staff is responsible for guiding rounds forward and providing interesting RP decisions. They are there to enforce not only regulations and practices within their respective departments, but to help guide players in roleplaying and in game.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:
Heads of Staff have the responsibilty of being what other players look to in terms of roleplaying standards and decisions. Since coming to Aurora I've always looked up to a lot of Command players in the way they conduct themselves and will definitely try my best to pass on that attitude to others.

Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career?
Growing up in Sol, specifically in the higher society of Luna. Alice never really had any worries of her own, spending most of her time studying and testing different theories. Eventually joining Necropolis Industries under their chemical warfare department.

After 8 years of work, Alice was contracted to work on the NSS Aurora. During this time Alice had undergone a huge change of heart, deciding to leave Necropolis and take up a degree in Psychology to help others in a more close environment. After being egged on by a few friends though, she has decided to dedicate herself to becoming a Chief Medical Officer on board the Aurora to assist as many as possible.

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?
I mostly plan on playing CMO, but my branch out into other roles if I can think of a suitable character concept or develop another one of my characters enough to take on the role.

Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.:
Alice White - Chief Medical Officer

How would you rate your own roleplaying?:
Honestly, I rate myself at about a 7/10. I'm always trying to improve though.

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?
I understand.

Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?
I have.

Extra notes: Been wanting to make a command app for a while, but never had a character I've felt was ready for it. So here goes!

TyrannyYT is a wonderful player and a fantastic teacher. When I was a more recent noob to my position in Medical and the server, they were more than happy to instruct and offer understanding. On top of everything, they are also a creative roleplayer and a joy to have on any round. +1

Tyranny has had rather consistent characters and through my various character that has interacted with Tyranny (some she doesn't know) I've always managed to form some kind of relationship (friends/enemies).  Tyranny has brought up some good points and I believe an Aussie as a Command staff would certainly help with the lack of command in the times the Americans are sleeping.

Let me tell you one thing-- it's that Tyranny is a great person and roleplayer. It's always fun to interact with them, both IC and OOC. I love 'em, and Alice White as a character. But--
I got a but, Tyranny. Are you sure Alice would fit as a CMO? I'm not throwing a jab here, but I'm just not sure--since it seems you have made some changes to her very lately that I may have missed. But, then again, we do have some other controversial CMO's cough cough, so again-- this is in no way a criticism.
I think Tyranny deserves to be in command, so I'm giving him this fat +1

I understand the concern there, considering how Alice was about a month ago. But off station and station she's sought psychiatric help for her less than subtle outbursts and also come to terms with what was causing them, (That being thrown out of medical post cloning, and left to deal with the trauma.) she's also taken to trying to help people more and is trying her best to make up for some of the less desirable aspects of her past.

Im relatively new. Played only 10 or so shifts (3+ hours each usually so not insignificant I guess but nothing compared to regulars) but for what its worth I support this application.

I saw Alice recently take on an interim CMO position and she did well. Made sure everyone knew their responsibilities given the crew manifest for medical at the time and didn't micromanage.

Roleplay skills seem good although I've only had limited interactions so far.

In the application I'm happy to see that TyrannyYT understands that part of the game is making interesting things happen for the crew while staying inside the acceptable IC bounds. A good player isn't just a good roleplayer in reacting to things, they understand how to create enjoyment and fun situations for others to react to as well.

An amazing RP'r and someone I have constantly enjoyed interreacting with on the server, they're someone who has interacted with all of my characters and I've seen since the beginning of my play time on Aurora. Always a positive experience and kind to new players, able and willing to teach and a genuine player oocly to interact with.. I've seen them as interim and their work is. Creative and fun concepts and good consistent RP as well as an array of complex and different characters who always try their best to influence RP and push it along for story and inclusivity versus simply focusing on the mechanics. They'd make a great example to other's as command staff. This is someone I'd very much like to see in command.

+1

I wish I could give this more than one :)

Still new to lesbay middle aged gay man nature reserve the medical wing here but Tyranny has been pleasant to interact with whenever they've played, runs the wing effectively as an interim CMO, and makes my ridiculous brainmed player chemical requests whenever I show up at the chemistry window, +1. Apologies for the brevity, but anything else I wanted to say has already been said - they're good.

Most of my interactions with Tyranny have been with Ari Loren, but even in the occasional interaction I've had with Tyranny's other characters they've always been either positive additions to scenes or driving forces behind RP, making it an easy +1 from me. As Ari's one of the few characters I'd trust to keep the medbay from generating more patients than it treats, a command role almost seems overdue.

I've interacted with several chars from Tyranny and I think that Tyranny is a good at rp and the chars that I played with (mostly Victoria and Alice) are well developed and fun to play with.

That's why I think getting the command whitelist might be a good addition to the cast.

+1 - As I said in character before, I think Alice White is suitable for the role of CMO. White did well as interim-CMO. OOC, I have interacted with a few of Tyranny's characters and observed them as a ghost a number of times. I think Tyranny is a fun and interesting roleplayer, who knows and understands the role and rules really well, while also encouraging RP, both in and out of character. I think would do well in a command role.

Just gonna drop in my two cents here based on some rounds I've been in with them as interim/actual CMO. ICly, they play a decent enough head as Alice White, no major outbursts or drama as a CMO. I can't speak to their HoP as I haven't been in enough rounds with them to judge. OOCly, they know what they're doing as a head, generally delegating and keeping people in a department participated in a round. They also generally know not to valid-salad an antag as a command member, which is really good for keeping a round going.

This gets my +1.

Enjoyed both the HoP and CMO, worked under them and together as command with them. For a new command member Tyranny has shown the ability to communicate when needed and take the step back when needed. Overall handling the departments he chose really well.  Not just saying this for the Coffee my RD gets but the fact that every new command member is tasked with finding connection to the older ones and Tyranny has done a great job of doing so!

Tyranny is a great roleplayer. They are able to react to scenarios in a very believable way, and I think that they bring enough depth to their characters without going overboard and making things a little too complicated. By that, I mean, their characters are fleshed out enough to be real people, but not too fleshed out so that canon events and time cannot change them. They roleplay their characters as evolving, changing, learning people, and I think that it's really refreshing to watch them grow and change, as I've watched Alice grow and change to be a great CMO.

Overall, I trust Tyranny's roleplay, and their understanding of game mechanics, more than enough to give a big fat +1 to their trial and to them in a command position for the foreseeable future.
