How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I’d say actively for two years but I’ve been around SS13 since 2014ish 

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: To play a Vaurca Breeder, and additionally to play Captain. 

Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora because of Bay’s continued decline of removing gameplay and promoting it all be a chat box, an absolutely fucking vile structure that just made me really upset. I stuck around because of the community and all in all a better atmosphere.

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yup

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Never, I got a bwoink once for job hopping across rounds as a Diona but I don’t think that was even a note. Been banned once across all of my ss13 history and that was from AI on /tg/ in 2015

 

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

 

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I think that roleplay in SS13 is inherently different to tabletop, mechanics are in fact part of the RP in SS13. Roleplay is inherently people making up characters and locations and pretending they’re real as the characters to make interesting stories. It should always be about the narrative, not winning. 

 

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: A head of staff realistically exists to organize and delegate tasks to those under them. They can do things where others don’t know how, help train new players, and work with other Command staff to keep things running smoothly. They are to facilitate roleplay above all else, I guess is the point I'm trying to make. You aren't the main character, the others are. You just exist to let them further their narratives in a way.

 

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The responsibilities are pretty simple, do your best to not ruin their round  and make interesting interactions and stories possible. With Antags it’s realistic to try and let them run their gimmicks without trying to look for malicious behaviour as an excuse to get them brigged/fired constantly. 

 

Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career?  Ta'Akaix'Aoan K’lax as a Ta for diplomatic reasons was spawned by Leto’s hive along with quite a few others. They had been actively working to continue Phoron supplies from the Zo’ra and other nations to keep their hive breathing. However as the shortage has worsened their efforts have met more and more roadblocks, nobody is selling, everyone is keeping. K’ois can only handle so much, and the weight of responsibility to keep her Queen and what remains of her people alive is heavy on her large shoulders.

Additionally she keeps the teachings of Vedhra at the tip of her mind, the ever present threat of the Lii’dra is indeed coming. All must throw aside their prejudice, we must all work together if we are to survive the oncoming storm. They have no strife, they work all in unison to destroy us, and it isn’t long until they will return.

 

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Consular Ta and Captain

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would like to say quite competent, been doing RP related things for over a decade. Always a weird question.

 

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? MUH WHITELIST CAN BE REMOVED? Anyway yeah I understand.

 

Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Please correct “familiarize” to “familiarized”. Also yeah.

Viax Ma's behaviour was unique to me! So, either I'm not too familiar with Vaucra lore, or Lmwevil was very creativ with their chars gimmick. Either way tons of fun! +1

Good RPer who cares about and understands the lore better than most of the lore devs. Doesn't play Vaurca just to grapple mandible spam, instead just plays unga Viax's or chill Akaix for fun. +1

Squid, or Lmwevil, is a good roleplayer - evident by simply watching them as a Dionae or Vaurca. They are engaging, and willing to create scenarios in which other players can achieve greater levels of roleplay. I'd like to see how'd they'd handle a trial.

Lmwevil seems incredibly knowledgeable about Vaurcae and plays an excellent Consular as Aoan, my interactions with them have been very pleasant both as Kasper and Nikita! +1

I had a lot of fun with Ta'Akaix'Aoan K’lax in round. During a round of extended they held a presentation in the holodeck, ordered a drone from cargo for medical to test on and facilitated interesting RP with the crew. +1

Almost all of my knowledge of vaurca comes from learning in character, roleplaying with Aoan. Aoan is a good enough character that she makes me want to play an assistant and makes me appreciate the bug aliens that I previously shrugged at.
