Roostercat Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 (edited) Basic Information Byond Account: Roostercat12 Character Name(s): Jaquelyn Roberts, Za'Akaix'Crono Zo'ra AI Name(s): N/A Discord username + tag: Roostercat#8032 Age: 19 Timezone: EST When are you on Aurora?: Most of the time when I have free time, in a different tab if not actively playing. Free time being when I am off work and not occupied with something else like another video game. This will probably get a little rocky when I start college classes in a few months, but it shouldn't be anything too bad. Experience How long have you played SS13?: I have been around since about 2016, give or take. How long have you played on Aurora: My account was made in 2017 where I played for some time before taking a long hiatus and coming back in 2019-2020. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I have been around long enough to not even need the wiki when it comes to mechanics, and also get mechanics questions all the time in regards to Vaurca. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?:Nope. Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: Yep. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I have not. Huzzah. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I play SS13 because I believe it does a fairly remarkable thing in that it balances RP and gameplay to a fun standard. Most of the time 'RP' games tend to either go full into either text roleplay or basically a regular video game with character stats. SS13 is a very good medium for striking both, with the pixelated nature allowing for text to describe what's happening, and the gameplay mechanics working well to actually do the things being described. It doesn't feel like you are just completely making things up, as your gameplay shapes how situations play out 100 percent of the time. Why do you play on Aurora?: It is the only server I really consider to be HRP. Most other 'HRP' servers are littered with either horrid staff, a horrid community, not even being HRP in nature, or having ERP. I don't see Aurora as having any of these issues, and it has fun, engaging, and constantly changing lore to boot that makes it feel like an actual universe. What do moderators do?: Moderators have two roles in my eyes. One is to deal with problems that arise between players or in game mechanics when they show up, punishing people who break the rules or mediating conflicts between two people. They ultimately can shape people's enjoyment of the game and can have a massive effect on one's perception of any server. The second function is to guide new players and answer questions people have, since there is no real defined role for doing such, the task often falls to staff in general, moderators especially, through things like ahelps. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Being a moderator for Aurora is essentially a promise to help new players into the server, and to make sure people adhere to the rules for the sake of everyone's enjoyment. They are often the 'face' of Aurora so to speak, and can be the first people turned to when trouble comes, or a new player needs someone to help them get a grip with the mechanics. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I've been here for quite a while, and while I feel my tenure on the lore team has been fantastic and has shaped the server's lore plenty, I feel becoming a moderator is a good step towards really helping the server improve. At first I treated Aurora as just another thing I did in my free time. But recently I have come to realize that I interact with Aurora's community far more than any other community on the internet, and I talk to friends I have met within Aurora on a daily basis. Hell, damn near HOURLY basis. It has become a greater part of my life than I could have imagined, and I want to work to make it better, first through lore as a deputy, now through....pretty much everything else minus development as a mod. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I like to think I am fairly patient, having very rarely ever gotten heated at anybody OOCly. I am capable of seeing multiple sides to any given argument and take my time when going over things people have done. I have had experience with all three during my time as deputy when players do unsavory things with their Vaurca characters. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I handle them fairly well. As mentioned before, I don't really go off the handle at people, and should I have a problem with them, I will either make a complaint or simply explain in a calm manner what the problem is, trying to do so in a way that doesn't just seem like insults with no constructive feedback. Caelphon Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Rooster has dedicated themselves to the Lore Team for about a year and a half (I believe?) and has always been communicative. They are also active within the community and often involves themselves with others. I think the points stated above are a good indicator of the type of person they are, and I believe they'd make a wonderful mod.
Hepatica Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Rooster has been a great and well behaved member of staff for quite some time. He plays great characters, is friendly, and has a good temperment, not to mention he's a well rounded roleplay. +1
Desven Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I like Rooster, I think he's approachable and friendly, while also upholding the server rules and being firm if required. I would really like them to be a mod. +1
Butterrobber202 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Rooster pog hes cool, friendly and good to interact with, not to mention being Staff already.
Lordnesh Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 While I don't see them as much as I would like, they're a great roleplayer and player. They get a +1 from me.
