An Open Security Panel Where A Bunch of Nerds Explain Regulations And Such [Sept. 24-25]

Recently I saw a video of Paradise station Security Regulars forming a small mini-meeting on discord/teamspeak explaining their variation of Space Law, answering security questions relating on how to deal with antagonists, et cetera.

It was a very well-done video and I enjoyed seeing a few security regulars sit about for an afternoon, shooting the shit, talking shop about being robust and good security at the same time.

So, naturally, I wish to sort of replicate this except with the intention to clarify more server-specific details regarding security and its interaction with other departments. Why?

"A community meeting type thing with a focus on security, and run by Regular/Semi-Regular Security players. This meeting is designed to help ease potential players into (arguably) one of the most difficult departments in the game, as well as helping people gain a bit more context into the purpose of the department. The meeting is, as usual, open to everyone, whether you're a security veteran, or have never held a baton before in your life."

What to expect:

1. We'll go over Corporate Regulations. Every single one, we will explain all of them and their intended context for application. Yep.

2. We'll go over the Station Directives and what their intended context is. This is mostly head of staff-focused but non-command players do have a right to know what to expect from these directives.

3. We'll go over how to treat certain antagonists case-by-case dependent on how they act and react, as security, so that you have a general understanding of what to do regarding arresting antagonists for acting antagonistic.

4. We will answer questions! Send them to me via discord PMs while the meeting's underway.

Shoot me a PM on discord if you wish to join the panel, it will be carried out via voice chat on Discord. Unsure if we'll do it via the standard Aurora one so everyone can poke in, or whatever. I'll bug an admin about it.

A few rules for those who aren't on the panel:

1.) Keep your mic muted, you're there to listen to the discussion until members of the panel ask the "audience" (you) if they have questions on a specific topic before we move along. Unmute it then, ask your question, then mute yourself again.

2.) Avoid spamming the panel members with nonsense while the meeting is underway. Be mature about it, please.

3.) Be there or be an unrobust nerd.

One last thing! The meeting will be recorded by me, personally, and then the whole chunk put up on YouTube. So if you have problems with being immortalized via YouTube, you need not attend.

Panel Attendees

1138 (me, the inception of this idea, sort of)

Omnivac

sgtdragonfire [attendance shaky, but likely?]

Edit: Pushed the date up to the weekend, preferably to maximize possible attendence because I was informed that school just started. Who knew? Hard set time will be on September 10th, 12PM, EDT. Not AM, PM.

Edit 2: Round two, lads.

I've never played with Discord before, but it might be worth it to participate in this.

It's Teamspeak 3 + Skype.

It's kinda good to keep in contact with the servers. Generally most SS13 servers uses it.

As a reminder:

The mini-meeting will take place in general 1 on the Aurora discord. I don't quite anticipate more than 25, but if needed I'll poke Skull during that time to add more slots to overcome the slot limitation to fit for a few more people.

OK, deeply sorry, but my errand ended up developing into an emergency and I couldn't book for the assigned time today, I was not even able to get to a computer to say so ahead of time.

Same time tomorrow on Sunday. I am very much sorry for missing out on the mini-meeting, but my mother and younger sister had gotten into a car crash.

Yup, way ahead of you. I have off tomorrow in lieu of the emergency anyway, in addition to the fact it is Patriot Day in the US.

We'll be starting in around 10 minutes, likely with a 10 minute grace period after the "official" start.

Hop in if you have not already.

Thank you all for attending, but due to the bulk of the discussion, we decided to end it early in favor of hopefully allowing myself to cut the first portion of the discussion in video format into important parts for a two-episode sequence only discussing corporate regulations rather than continuing on to the directives and such as planned.

The whole meeting lasted for three and a half hours. Ya.

Part two/three regarding station directives and other stuff will be discussed perhaps next week on Saturday. We'll see, subject to change.

Again, thank about 25-30 of you for actually attending, I do appreciate it.
