Doc
BYOND key: TheDocOct Character names: Lily Kadel, Halogen How long have you been playing on Aurora?: A month or so over a year. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I’m interested in the unique positions of leadership and management that come with command roles, and creating interesting characters to fill them. Why did you come to Aurora?: Originally, I joined Aurora because I was bored and exploring. Pretty soon, though, I ended up staying for the long haul. The role-playing atmosphere and general community is pretty unmatched in Space as far as I've ever seen, and I enjoyed it greatly, so here I am. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think role-play is, and should be about: Role-play is, pretty simply, playing the role of a character. You create something new, a person and their story, and you give it life by playing it out without all these other people that have created their own stories. Role-playing is a form of story-telling, and on this server, a way for everyone to come together and build those stories together using whatever wacky or horrible things happen during the round as fuel to make them bigger and better. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, in-game?: OOCly, the Heads of Staff exist to prevent a round from dragging on into stagnation. Left to their own devices, most roles are fairly content to complete their tasks alone or forgo them completely to do some other thing that's caught their attention, and little 'work' gets done. The Heads of Staff ensure the crew works, and works together, in order to create a station as a whole rather than a map with pockets of people all over it. At the same time, they are responsible for providing opportunities to that crew for role-playing, be it the RD coming up with some new science project, the Captain mandating new criteria for the station to meet by the shift's end, or something as simple as acting in a certain way to spur response from their co-workers. This extends to antagonists, as well- while the Heads of Staff are responsible for creating an effective crew, they're also responsible from reigning in unbelievable and possibly rule-breaking behavior from them, and not just security. Overall, they need to do their best to make the round enjoyable. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are expected to uphold the rules and expectations of the server, and to be good representatives of what the server tries to accomplish. When a security player looks to a HoS player, they see what's considered acceptable enough to be whitelisted for the most important roles on the station and a HRP server. That HoS player should be acting in a way that appropriately portrays that responsibility. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Asha Weir Character age: 36 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Hailing from the Eridani Corporate Federation, Asha Weir was born on Satet in the early years of its rapid population growth to an EFN Corpsman and his wife, a local manager to the recently deteriorating Einstein Engines megacorporation. During her formative years, she looked up to her mother's relatively successful position within the primary shareholder of the Federation, and under her tutoring strove toward following her footsteps. As the discovery of Phoron sank into the galactic economy, and Einstein Engines began to collapse, the plan became unsteady. She earned a bachelor's in human resources management, and after graduation she suddenly hired into the EFN as a personnel officer in spite of the plans made with her family, eventually falling out of contact with her mother and straining her relationship with her father as she pursued her own wealth over maintaining her family connections. As Einstein Engines' economic prospects sunk and NanoTrasen continued to rapidly balloon through its new supermaterial, the upstart megacorporation seemed increasingly lucrative. With the commissioning of the original NSS Aurora in 2446, Asha turned her eyes to the Tau Ceti system, and much as she did to her home, she quickly abandoned her role in the Navy in order to pursue a human resources career within NanoTrasen, resulting in her eventually promotion to Head of Personnel among the megacorporation's Cetian businesses. What do you like about this character?: I like the idea of her background, as it has always seemed to me that Epsilon Eridani is a bit untapped. I think this also creates an interesting character that I want to play, in that her life has largely been nothing but the corporate life. What do you dislike about this character?: I’m not entirely sure how the corporate background will actually play out in practice, but I’m interested in seeing what happens either way. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: She has the appropriate qualifications for the role and has had plenty of experience in the field of employee management in her history. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own role-playing?: I would probably rate myself at around a 7 to 8 out of 10. I’d like to believe I can create and maintain a unique character fairly well, though I can’t say I’m able to do so with as much depth and detail as some other players on the server. Extra notes: None. Link to comment
DatBerry
Doc is one of my favorite players OOCly so there will obviously be some bias here, but they're level headed and can make valid decisions, be welcoming and foster a friendly environment, which is expected from a head of staff (I mean if they didn't they wouldn't stay a mod for long) I like your answer for the responsibilities of a head of staff, a lot of them do nothing but sit in their office and keep the round "stable" often shooting down any prospect of them having to actually work. Heads of staff have the ability to make or break roleplay and a head of staff who's more flexible in getting projects and new routines and experiments going is a welcome addition. The character story is however pretty bare bones, the character itself has no personality conveyed through the story and well, it's just "been born here, gone study there, and now go work here", would prefer if you touched more on the character itself and not his career highlights. Mcspizzy
In all my time playing with Doc I have personally never seen any instances in which i disagree with both from a roleplay, ooc, and administrative perspective. They are one of the kindest people i've met here while still maintaining a sense of fairness and a stern attitude that is befitting for staff, which leads me to believe that they would do great in command positions on account of the stupidity most staff see on a regular basis. Not only this, but as stated above their roleplaying skills are well above average from their ability to play complexe characters, and their antag gimmicks that are always executed wonderfully and almost always include a great majority of the crew (a trait i almost always find lacking). +1 They deserve it. AmoryBlaine
Doc's aces. Can't say much more than that of which already's been said. They're entirely ready and able to handle Head of Staff responsibilities. +1 Link to comment
Scheveningen
Honestly thought they had one already. I approve overall, there's little I can say that would constitute as a good reason to be opposed to this application. Link to comment

The above covers why I want to, though. Doc is a good writer, level-headed, well-aware of staff expectations thanks to her work on the moderation team, and focused on making the game engaging for other people, which is maybe the most important thing I want to see in a head of staff character. They're a player easily suited to the whitelist. Link to comment
Worthy
As said earlier, I'm quite surprised Doc hasn't got a command whitelist already. Having had plenty of interactions with both Halogen and Lily Kadel I can say she's more than capable of a roleplayer. Her characters are realistic, well acted out, and fun to play with. And I don't doubt she'd be able to create excellent command characters as well. As for the OOC side of things, I've never particularly seen you salt, or be excessively frustrated by the game, I'm sure that aids you in your modding business, and will be a good trait to have as a command member. Moving onto the application itself, it's fairly white bread. It covers the points I'd like to see, and isn't particularly spicy. Which is generally expected from a whitelist application, as it is the safe way to go. I'd argue at this point the application itself is more of a formality for you but I digress. Yes, I support this application. +1 Link to comment
Faris
It only took me two months to convince you to make this application. Doc is always a pleasure to be around as a person, I've only had few interactions with Halogen itself, but none have been bad. I however can still attest to their roleplaying skills from an observers point of view. They take the game seriously enough, role playing properly and fostering an immersive environment. There's not much for me to say as I already gave you feedback which you've applied to your application itself. You have my seal of support. +1 Link to comment
Coalf
Welll that's a lot of positive feedback and I myself know you as a swell person. BUT Due to recent concerns and messages we have receieved from multiple people, well it brought up interesting things to light. It was something adressed by not a single individual but by multiple groups to which we just couldn't a blind eye. Now it's partially also my personal opinion but we have agreed about it with the entire whitelist team, the thing is there is nothing wrong, application accepted. Locking and Archiving.
