Translation at bottom BYOND Key: Calion12 Character Names: Seraph, Vieniamin Zokolov, Vhideal Al'Majoree, (occazionally) Grey, Captain Kli (vox merchant), Wendigo, Iriz Vhrozt Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): R: 61, G: 0, B: 0 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yez Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: The tranzhumanizt ideaz that they reprezent iz very interezting to me. I have alwayz had a vhazination with the conzept of at what point zomeone goez vhrom being an organic with zythetic partz to a zythetic with organic partz and I wish to get a clozer, more in-depth vheel ovh what it would be like to live az zomething that iz already toeing the line. While thiz iz the main reazon I want to vhlay the termitez, the unique clazz zyztem alzo haz me interezted, the moral queztionability of zomething like labotomizing an entire clazz of people iz conzidered normal, for exzample. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: To ztart with, az I mentioned earlier, their clazz zyztem haz me intrigued az other razez have labelled zimilar eventz az horrivhic in the pazt but toeing the line ovh morality iz what thiz raze doez better than any ovher that I have come acrozz. Not to mention the impoverizhed ztate that mozt live in could drive an interezting narrative of ztruggle and ztrife that many ovher razez do not need to deal with at leazt not to the zame exztent. When combined with the diztruzt zhown to them and limitz in what they are permitted to do, it makez it zeem like everything they own and accomplizhed, they have worked vhor and earned themzelves. The conzept ovh having your purpoze dictated vhrom the ztart to the end iz compelling and will lead to zome interezting talkz with razez and people that morally object to it. Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Lir Zo'ra Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Account ovh Ka'Akaix'Lir Zo'ra zhared to officialz az per hiring agreement: Account taken from Lir personally, made more comprehensive and thus, easier for human officials to comprehend. As a larva, my function was decided for me, I was left to mature for 6 months, implanted and 'schooled' for the rest of the year from information fed through the neural socket. My assignment was to be a healer, a protector. Time is strange in VR, we run through every scenario for every race from light bumps on a tajara to a human with a bloodied stump in place of a leg. Time is taken to master stabilising them all, ensuring they do not succumb to the light of death as a result of my own inefficiency. I am unbound, I am able to think for myself, act on my own. Through this gift I am able to make do with whatever I can, on the fly, whatever I must to ensure my duty is not failed. A tajara, arm gone, a burning torch sitting besides it. Bleeding fast, my duty lies in stopping this. The torch is put to the stump, the tajara screaming in agony but I remove the torch and the bleeding is stopped. A skrell, lying on an operating table, burst lung. Already under anaesthetics so I can begin work. The scalpel deftly cuts into the chest, bones moved out of the way, ensuring no fragments cause yet more damage. The rupture is patched and fixed, sealed over. It wakes up again and can breath without spewing blue liquid onto the floor. Each day, a new situation. Every now and then I would be sent to another island across the glassy sea, operating under different conditions. All the while, the glowing golden residence of Ta'Akaix'Vaur'skiyet'sca Zo'ra maintained an omnipresence much like the gas giant of sedanris above. After years in virtual space, I master my duty. I now command it, no the other way round. The CB was not incorrect in determining my destiny. I am jacked out, the endless scenarios come to a halt, I am ready for my true task. I am to operate on my own to serve the interests of Nano Transen and ensure that it's workers do not succumb like the hundreds did at the start of my training. I am sent here, information on this language of yours already transmitted although, I am not that practised yet. I take my seat, inform you of my duty and re-tell this story as per my duty requires. What do you like about this character? They are zimpliztic and dedicated. Having lived in the virtual vhor zo long to vhulvhil a zingle purpose, the culture zhock will make for zome dezent interaction with the inhabitantz of the ztation az they are vhorzed to enter zituatinz not covered in the virtual. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10 ish. If I get into a character, I like to think I become that character, an extension of them. That said, I am not infallible, obviously and occasionally do slip up or make mistakes here or there. Notes: None. DECODED VERSION (normal words)

Having read both Hakie and Garn’s points I can now see that my judgement was at fault and I apologise to Hackie for making this incorrect judgement. I do feel the situation could have been handled better but I can see how this warning was not needed in the situation presented.
-
I will say that the escalation had some merit to it which I did say in our PMs. What I took issue with was the sheer volume of warnings and notes that you have relating to very similar reasons to this. I understand the point of the QMs execution but I do not believe that it warranted an immediate removal from the round. I get that the idea was to do it brutally and ruthlessly so as to inspire terror in the others but there were multiple other ways you could have done this, ones that didn't involve the player being instantly removed from the round. Admittedly this is a small issue but taking into account previous notes and warnings, I felt that a warning was needed in order to convey the message.

Y'know. Initially, I thought it was going to be a godawful anime thing. After some interaction, I think the smol IPC is quite a good character. Good depth (either perceived or genuine I don't know yet) and generally quite a fun character to spend your chair-rp rounds with. I dunno, I guess you want some way to improve too... I guess maybe after a while, he can get a bit grating with his up-beatness. Purely personal preference with those types of characters though. I dunno. Good IPC overall.

The moment Calion gave in (AKA character feedback)
calion12 replied to calion12's topic in Character and Concept Feedback
An excellent question. Short answer; I liked the idea of that huge disadvantage of bloody cooling units. Better answer: the IPC is a little too full of herself when it comes to her own abilities, she's pretty much convinced she can do anything so wants so long as she tries and the shell body also has a nice little nugget of story behind it nudge nudge wink. I could try to accentuate these features in order to make her feel like something more than a sokolov clone though, that's a good point that I hadn't noticed that they do act quite similar. -

Nuuu, I can’t bear to see Raymond go. Seriously though, giving this a +1 as much as it pains me to know that this means that one of the only continuously good detectives I’m on with departs. Okay, a bit dramatic, I’ll be honest but still, Ray is a great detective and character in general. Haven’t had much time to actually RP with the character personally because shits going down. He follows his duties perfectly, respects the chain of command and is bloody good at his job. I can’t sing his praises enough. Hope to see him bossing petty officers around soon, good luck. -
Ah I see. In that case it could help to add a dash of flavour and bring in some of the outer world into the game rather than locking it away just to happen in fluffs. In the case that it is muted and slyly done then I can see where the idea spawned and I can certainly see its benefits. I think if this does get implemented, it’ll need to be done carefully however because there is a definite line between interesting conflict and just irritating a department full of people. Nobody in science likes not having materials and it’ll be even worse knowing that you could have them but just aren’t getting them because reasons. Overall: I think this could, if done well and carefully both player and mechanic-wise, be an interesting conflict but the line is delicate and I’m not entirely sure it could be pulled off to a degree that it doesn’t just become irritating for those left in the dirt.
-
This has been suggested before (admittedly this idea seems a little more fleshed out) and my feelings remain the same: this won’t go well, ever. I believe that it would disturb the ideas of the game as a whole and take it in a completely new direction. I’m sure people are up for that new direction but I think it will create unnecessary tension and conflict. Don’t get me wrong, inner conflict is great and all but this idea seems a little too radical, especially the example you gave. It seems like a rev round gimmick except now it’s every round no matter what. I also think that doing this in the way you described would detract from antag actions. It’s a fun idea for, say, a rev gimmick as I said already but for a constant, persistent thing? I’m not so sure it’ll work out. Sorry if I missed any points, just quickly adding my two cents.

Granted but even still, taking this to it’s most basic level, even protesting wouldn’t really make sense for the average crew member to do. They have been employed by NT and know full well that they are not special. If they fuck up or become more of an obstacle then a benefit then they will be fired. NT isn’t hurting for employees to the point where they will tolerate things like this. Taking it to it’s most extreme, being in the mafia AND holding down a day job at NT is a conflict of interest if nothing else. Sorry but I just don’t find this to be logical lore-wise.

Gotta back ma boi Sokolov here and ask for more stuffs regarding the ALA. Not much else really. New kingdom would also be pretty neat.

Much of the lore team and current applicants to it are (or have been) imported or shared from/with other staff teams (multiple mods, devs, CCIA and wiki). At the time of me writing this, you'd only be able to support one of the current applicants to this position if you are excluding people who participate on other teams, as it seems there is a lack of outside interest. Are you calling out admins specifically when you take this stance? If not, what do you perceive as the problem with lore team members contributing to multiple staff teams? I'm being specific to the mods and admins, yes. The lore team and CCIA, I think, work better as normal player teams than having admin staff involved. The spots can be open for players who want to contribute in their own way to the server, but might not be suitable or willing to go for moderating. I would just like to hop in here real quick and ask, is there anything stopping those ‘regular players’ from applying for the role? If not then what exactly does it matter if someone with a rank already applies for the role? Granted they may be more well known and stuff but in the long run, if people don’t think they are capable of the role they will (I would hope) voice this rather than just smile and nod along. Perhaps I do not fully understand how all this works and forgive me if I am talking out of my ass here but it seems like an odd point to say that ranked members are stopping players from getting the role.
-
Fair enough, in that case I can see how this would be a beneficial idea and will gladly give this a +1
-
I mean, it sounds reasonable but what is there to stop them from adding it all back with their ID modding computer?

[Accepted] MattAtlas' Unathi Application
calion12 replied to MattAtlas's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I know Matt’s characters rather well, they are all decent squiddies. I hope nobody minds but I’m just going to talk about Matt’s rp abilities rather than his character that he put forward for this app. OOCly he’s a decent guy too, unabraisive and generally easygoing and able to take a joke all of which I support when interacting via the internet. When I first got my skrell app I got to see just how deep Matt’s characters went. I remember a particular event involving walking dead OCs in which I was forced to commence radio silence in order to survive but in the process I had to ignore Matt’s pleas for me to respond and by the time I got back I saw his corpse pinned to a table. All in all that was a really heart-wrenching scene for me that Matt helped build even before his demise. while I would be sad to see his squids take a backseat, I am sure he could work wonders with lizards, definite +1 from me if you can’t tell already. -
Sarah is a good warden. Proper and by the books which are severely lacking, good RP and she knows exactly what her job is and is not. Don't much know the robbut but I'm sure it is equally great to RP with.

I know Starlight as the RD, great character to interact with as a fellow head. Never seen them when I'm just a science guy but I assume they are equally charming. +1 or my name isn't Calion12 -
I like Chunley, anything that makes her more unique and can bring out more of her backstory is fine by me. +1 without a doubt.

BYOND Key: Calion12 Character Names: Recently: Viscaran Nral'Ryllac (Skrell cap), Asiress Gukuzan (Unathi HoS), Valetin Kunezov (Russian roboticist), Lyeziah Omenawei (CMO unathi) there is also M.A.I who I sometimes play. Species you are applying to play: IPC (shell) What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: It would provide interesting standpoints and views on topics that organics and station-bound robots would not be subject to. They would operate off of logic rather than true emotion, no matter how well it is emulated to suggest otherwise. I wish to play an IPC because I want to develop a character trying to find their own way in the world, make their own mistakes and learn from them. Playing an IPC would make this more fitting as most organic races never have to struggle with their purpose being simply handed to them only to be torn asunder and having to find a new way of life entirely. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Since their freedom is typically bought, there could be the potential for an interesting angle of having to acclimate to making their own choices and develop into their own person rather than simply be given a purpose and told to do it. Of course, there is the racism towards them that humans don't have to deal with. Perhaps even hostility from overly-zealous skrell eager to relive their past. In short, playing an IPC, playing a logic-driven machine is very different to playing an emotional human who doesn't think twice about having half the things that an IPC would have to struggle for such as freedom itself. Character Name: Grey Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Originally made as a mass-produced, off the shelf baseline, unit B-13382 as it was then known was simply sent to an asteroid to mine. Mining was good to the unit, receiving positive utilons. That was the life for a while. Mine, charge, mine, charge rinse and repeat. To anyone else this would be tedious but the utilons ensured this was never so. But all 'good' things must come to an end and eventually the unit was able to work its servitude off, gaining its own freedom and later on, after more working this time because it wanted to, synthetic flesh. With the acquisition of this new body, unit B-13382 decided to experience the 'finer' things in life. Going to work for a bar on the fringes close to his old asteroid, he whiled away his hours mixing drinks, growing ever more fanciful in his process as he saw his customers enjoyed the fancy displays. Being the only IPC or even synthetic at the joint he quickly picked up the moniker 'Grey' by the owner and patrons alike. It wasn't long until Grey took a liking to this name, a real name was good, better than a product code and so he started calling himself Grey too. Things stagnated which was a new experience for Grey, the same patrons and the same drinks day in and day out. It had to change. He had to experience new things and so Grey took off, saving up yet more and heading to another job. This time on a space station on an asteroid, it reminded him of his origins but this time he was in control of what he did, not someone else. It was freeing. What do you like about this character? I like the humble beginning and story-book ending of his life so far coming full circle with him ending up essentially where he began. I like that he isn't some larger than life character, just a guy with a job who got lucky after years of hard work to get where he is now. I like that he actively seeks out new experiences now that he is able to have a real life. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10. I think I'm pretty decent but I do have moments where I slip up or don't think something through completely (Probably much like making this app) Notes:

[Accepted]Worthy's Tajara Application
calion12 replied to Worthy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
As HoS Sokolov will tell anyone; Lily is a great officer, saving his own ass many times and seamlessly taking leadership of the ISD when he was unavailable. The point I'm making is thus: Worthy is a great RPer and more than capable of handling a multitude of different characters and personalities. Although limited in OOC interaction, it seems a little irrelevant for this app even if it were not, they seem like a great guy. Pleasant and not looking to go for the throat at the slightest provocation like some people seem to be. +1, as if I really needed to actually write that down. -
Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Calion12 Character Name(s): Vieniamin Sokolov, Fideal Al'Majoree (Mains) AI Name(s): N/A Preferred means of contact: Discord PMs are a good way to get hold of me, forum PMs also since I browse when I am bored. Age: 14 Timezone: GMT (EST-5) When are you on Aurora?: Most of the time after 4:30ish on weekdays with the exception of Tuesday and Thursday when I am not on at all. Every second weekend I don't have access to my computer Experience How long have you played SS13?:Around 2 - 2 and a half-ish years at best guess How long have you played on Aurora: Around a year to a year and a half factoring in my breaks How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: Well, I have played for a while and covered most departments so I am familiar with most mechanics to at least some degree Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: No, none at all. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: No, none at all. Personality Why do you play SS13?: Because I find it more fun than almost every other game I own and I have grown fond of the community on Aurora particularly. Why do you play on Aurora?: Because it was the server I migrated to after leaving another one and it grew on me (Whether like a flower or a cancer is in the eyes of the beholder) What do moderators do?: Maintain normality for regulars, dealing with any issues brought to their attention and assist new players in getting a foothold on the new server which, with it being a HRP server, can be a little daunting if they are not used to it. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: It means you have accepted the job of keeping the peace, knowing what is allowed and not allowed and trying to reach a conclusion that is best for all involved. They serve to be a friendly face for those needing help and a firm but fair judgement call for situations out of the ordinary. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Honestly, mostly selfish reasons; This will be the first time I have done something like this so the experience for me sounds quite exciting, a new challenge to conquer. Plus this community has given so much to me over the year(s) and I feel that I can help give a little back by alleviating some of the work pre-existing staff members have to do. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I have experience with teaching people things, retaining facts and guiding. Plus, I have been on the community for a while so I feel that people know me and I know them, allowing for a deeper understanding of actions that are taken and giving valuable insight before smiting the usurper and delivering punishment. I am rather patient, I wouldn't get bored of listening to people's queries or their sides of the story. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Well, I go to a boy's school as a runty, small kid so they are on the regular for me. Weep not however, for this has given me a rather thick skin. I can handle insults as well as I can handle regular conversation, they are practically one and the same. It doesn't hurt that my friends and I exchange insults as a form of greeting. Anger for me doesn't really occur. At worst it just gives way and I lose motivation and at best, it doesn't happen at all. I can handle stress, no need to worry there. Anything Else You Want to Add: This may all have painted me in a very narcissistic light, believe me I am cringing at it already but I didn't intend for it to come off that way. Joining the mod team would be, for me at least, quite the personal achievement (I mean, it's not like I needed my soul for anything anyway so I may as well sell it off here). But in all seriousness, I would like to help this server become even better than it currently is and since I am devoid of creative ideas and probably will never file a suggestion thread this seems like a good way for me to do that. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Personally, as someone who mains sec and science almost exclusively I found myself in xenobio quite a few times. It was good and fresh when I started but now has gotten stale. I would LOVE to actually be a xenobiologist rather than a slime farmer. Maybe randomise the aforementioned crate and randomise the creature's behaviours or sprites to keep it fresh rather than learning that "this sprite means completely docile, just let it out" etc. But that's jist my opinon. I am no code expert or anything so I don't know how viable this actually is or anything but it would sure be fun and make xenobio more used.

[Accepted]Vrow - Skrell Application.
calion12 replied to VisVirific's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Add 'im to the squid army. But seriously, I know Lawrence most of all, as I think most people also do. He runs the line between famous and infamous so well with his iconic stutter and the fact that he'll never move past resident rank. This might sound like I'm ripping into the character but I genuinely love it. He RPs well, he seems a nice guy OOCly as well which is always a plus. Not to mention I love me some squidd. Definite +1. -
BYOND Key: Calion12 Character Names: Vieniamin Sokolov, Fideal Al'Majoree, Vaelin Nirana'Lelac Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Deep red Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I like the idea of playing as part of an entire race that carry themselves with head held high and valuing honour, often even above their own lives as is the case with guwandi. I also quite like the idea of one individual race taking two different paths due to their history, Moghes being very rooted in their culture with Ouerea showcasing the effect of diversity that comes with being integrated with the most technologically advanced race and the ever-diverse humanity. A species steeped in culture, and being very new to to the whole interstellar community I think it'd open a lot of opportunity for role-play, either wanting to learn about other cultures or teaching the values of their own culture (if they are so inclined). On a much less important note, I just enjoy playing reptilian races in vidya gaems. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Mainly their culture, naturally. While, yes, humans can obviusly highly value their honour, only unathi have based their entire society on their honour. Hell, even when admitting guilt, they display their most vulnerable part (fleshy neck) and accept their punishment. Obviously that'd be a little redundant for humans considering they're fleshy all over but you get my point. Perhaps this is just me (being britbong, I like seeing my own histories in anything I can) but I see the unathi culture somewhat as medieval England, women treated as property, honour being held in high esteem and, of course, kings. Character Name: Eskiael Tzenek Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Hatched in 2440, Ezikael never had the pleasure of knowing a pre-bombed world. having the fortune of being brought into a fairly well-off clan with his family being fairly high-ranking within the community, Ezikael was able to be well-trained in the martial arts, claw and blade, with his elder brother often serving as his combination mentor and sparing partner. Being born strangely small and never quite growing out of it, he faced some lashings of the tongue with the occasional full-body checking. Being taught the virtues of honour by the females of the clan, he had already decided he wanted to become a soldier, before even attending primary education. He was never an exemplar of the academic arts that being said, his family's wealth did afford him a certain edge, he managed to get above-average grades in most every subject. That was his life for a long time; receive morning training from his brother, attend schooling, come back to more training. Sometimes he would follow his brother on hunts, marvel as he moves with his huntsmen to take down local fauna of all kind. Once, he even joined in, staring down terrifying beasts then coordinating with your fellow clansmen to take it down. Exhilarating. To his surprise, he was the one who made the kill although, on reflection years later, his brother and his friends probably allowed him that kill. Thankfully their clan's relative isolation allowed them some small amount of refuge from the constant raids and with the wastes a safe distance to not be a problem within the immediate future, they only had to worry about small excursions by incredibly desperate clans and the occasional wild animal. All in all, it was about as easy a life as a rural unathi could have. But it couldn't stay this way forever. As he neared age to join the military, he came back to see his home in flames, every member able to fight up in arms. He had seen raids before, even fought in a few when times got desperate but this, this wasn't one of those. There was no honour, the enemy firing on anyone they saw with ballistics, energy guns even grenade launchers. With a mix of fear and anger, he raced towards the closest enemy, picking up the blade of a fallen clansman. The hostile opened fire, not having the time to think out an elaborate strategy. Overcome with blind rage at this point, Esikael swing the blade as hard as he could, burying it deep in the chest of the gunman. Satisfied, he moved onto the next but there were none. There was one, a tajara, dragging his crippled brother onto a drop pod. As soon as it had started, it was over. The fires were doused, the wounded, helped. The local shaman was a dictionary of names by the time all the lost had been accounted for. The clan stabilised, in time. Ezikael missed his brother dearly. He refused to have his name added to the deceased. While the clan recovered, he recieved the blessing of the leader to look for his lost brother. While the clan had been financially crippled, hit family still had enough wealth to afford a shuttle off-world. He spent over a year travelling before winding up with no money left. For the first time in his life, he had to earn what he wanted. He wound up taking a contract from a human company, named Nano-Transen. Hopefully he can save up enough to find his brother and take him home. What do you like about this character? To be honest, I like that he isn't some god, perfect at everything. He's not the brightest and he knows it, he's not the strongest and he knows it. While his family's wealth greatly helped, he had to find alternatives himself, he had to find counter-measures and offsets by himself. I also quite like the potential for RP when he lands station-side and has to acclimatise to working with others he's not familiar with. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7or8/10. I think I'm competent at playing alien characters, bringing across their individual culture but I also make unique characters, characters that don't fit the stereotypical "MUH HONOUR" unathi or "GRRR, WAR" catbeast. But hey, I'm probably massively biased. Notes: Yes, I know I only just applied for skrell but y'know. My spelling of honour throughout may become an irritant, sorry. Also don't worry about me shoehorning in an excuse to hate cat-beasts, I didn't mean it that way, just wanted to add a bit more detail on that scene.
