1. To clarify on my last post, the incident you cite, where you were the wizard, was deemed valid by staff. I had woken up from SSD, got back on on my patrol, shot you, and I pointed my gun at you. The fact that you then got yourself shot by reflex - twice - is your fault. I had told you "no tricks." What do you do? Blink, right behind me. So I shot you a third time. If you had just explained the situation, and gave me time to get orders, none of this would have happened. The second incident you cite... I was the vampire. I was trying to thrall you. I don't think more needs to be said. Sorry for my poor tone on that last post, I was miffed - I shouldn't have used that tone. The intention was not to call the OP stupid, but the actions.
2. Hello, yes. I was the staff member that dealt with this. I said I was going to place a warning for this - but I don't think I did. Not even a note. I don't know what happened there, but I have completely failed to levy any punishment. My logic being for wanting to place the warning is that, even if no one responded to you, Urthrem, you still risked the life of the CE, breaking your laws. You are very lucky that the raider did not click on the CE a few times and make her go horizontal. Even though you were shot first, that's not an excuse to break your laws. Even worse was the the fact that you hit him, I don't know how many times with the drill, until he died, making it really seem like you were going for valids. You probably could have got the CE and got out, I think. Again, it is really my bad for not placing the warning, and then not telling Sd about how the issue was resolved.
3. I like the idea, but it definitely needs more testing. The second ninja crushed all resistance quite easily - if we always have two, won't there always be a lot of stomping?
4. IC Information, delete this. Also, last incident was deemed very valid - you were shot because of you being stupid.
5. I'm gonna have to give this a solid -1. I've played with Zahra Njarir, and she just isn't fit to be a head of staff, in my opinion. Far too common threats of sedation, and she even slapped me once, after I rudely and racistly told her not to threaten me. The rest of the RP isn't top notch, and I've noticed a decided lack of fear RP, and you've been spoken to about validhunting recently. I'd like to see you play for a bit longer than three weeks, and properly get a sense of what type of RP we're about here. Sorry, but again, this is a -1 from me.
6. Eliade piped up about the shotgun, so he couldn't sell it to me. The energy carbine however, we did some backroom dealings to sell it to me.
7. Exterminatus. Nuke this thread.
8. First of all, thanks for taking the time to write all this out, Bygonehero The main idea behind Edrahir is that he was just a dumb, melodramatic kid, ungrateful with his (actually quite good) situation, but he learns proper lizard values, and ends up sort of regretting his youth, at the same time, looking back at it like "wow I was so dumb, look at that". You are absolutely right in that going Guwandi is a big deal, and Edrahir sort of spits on this tradition by declaring himself Guwandi so flippantly. He was never actually thinking about the fact that Guwandis die, he was just making an immature statement. As for the fight, Edrahir wasn't rich, but he was certainly better off than most, and he doesn't appreciate that. He had more time than others to train, and his family could afford some more professional lessons for combat. When he came up against an actual Guwandi, who had a poor upbringing, didn't really know how to fight, and was resigned to death in combat, he found the fight uncomfortably easy. As for his jealousy of those in the city, you actually hit the nail on the head. He has nothing to be jealous of. He just sees them, doesn't think, and he wants what they have, even though Edrahir is actually probably better off than many there! It's a "the grass is always greener" sort of thing. He's just a dumb, ungrateful, kid. And as for your last point, he is obsessed with progressivism, but all unathi hold martial combat in high regard, even the stinking humie-lovers. This character isn't meant to be a super awesome and unique snowflake. He's meant to be an unathi who thought he was a super awesome and unique snwoflake, but was just too full of himself, and slowly figured out his place in unathi culture. He learned to act like a normal unathi, and appreciate his society. He can reflect on how dumb he was. I hope I've clarified, because ,I'll admit, I didn't really make the theme too clear. Thanks again.
9. Aggressive advertisement, what can I say?
10. BYOND Key: Superiorform Character Names: Jake Lawrenson, Cathryn Latham, Alexander Viatorem, Daniel Tilton, Autovendatronic, Snazzatron, Alex Walker. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character Dark blue (let it snow, let it snow, let it snow) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Many times. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well, very nearly all of my characters are humans, and humans are slightly limited. Humans are varied, but there are a lot of constraints on what they can do and be believable. Since I started playing my borgs, which have really strange and quirky personalities (Pacificatron, a rust old security model that takes everything a bit too literally), I realised that I wanted to expand on what I could do a bit, and this needed non humans. Unathi have the culture and nuances that interest me the most. The honour based society, the subtle social signals, and the deep lore that suggests ways by which you can reveal a little about your character (dyed claws, for example), and of course, guwans to hate on, and be hated as. Finally, the split, divisive culture, with the traditionalists and the more human integrated unathi. I want to be able to play as an honourbound fighter, who has been in a war, and experienced a split culture. Can't really be done with humans. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: One must keep in mind the social code; would an unathi be happy with a stranger calling him by his first name? The strong gender roles in unathi society must be kept in mind, and etc. I think the accent will be hard for me to remember, but that is another thing that must be kept in mind. They may feel honour bound, and quick to anger in a perceived slight on their honour. Lots of nonverbal and nonhuman ways to display your mood – tongue flicking, tail thumping, chuffing, etc. Character Name: Edrahir Mazkannah Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs What do you like about this character? I really like the fact that he thinks his scales make him special, but he has to learn that, no, he is not special at all, or smarter, or more elegant, and most unathi would even marginalise him for his odd colouring. He has been through a lot, and he brought a lot on himself, and he has learned his lessons as to what a good, proper, traditionalist unathi is. He has matured from his self in youth, and he has regrets. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I used to be bang on average, playing okayish characters that occasionally shined, but I think, by playing with some better role-players, I've really improved. I like to think that my human characters have had average lives, but interesting personalities, and I think I portray them well. I'd give myself a 7-8/10 Notes: I actually have a lot of stuff written down about the fight with the young guwandi, but I'd rather not share. It's for storytelling ICly.
11. MattAtlas is honestly an exemplary player. His conduct on and off the server is perfect, his roleplay is excellent, and he strikes me as a really mature individual. His activity is astounding (get a life nerd), and he has experience of handling conflict, ICly, at least, considering he mains heads of staff. I don't really know what else to say, I can't express more how excellent of a player this guy is. If anyone deserves a chance at trial, it's MattAtlas.
12. Honestly, despite tabbit's history of LOOC raging, judging by their attitude on discord, I think this ban has worked. They want to turn off LOOC permanently, to ensure this doesn't happen again, and they obviously really care about this server, given they were a loredev, and their activity on discord. For what it's worth, I'd like to see them get one more chance.
13. There are a multitude of problems with this application. First and foremost, it isn't finished. Secondly, you are very, very new. Thirdly, I think your answer to the OOC responsibilities question is very, very lacking. You pretty much say there aren't any, except to roleplay well. Your character's backstory is just detailing their interests, and you seem to set it up for a joint IAA/roboticist, which just couldn't happen - they are both very high skill jobs, one person couldn't do both. Fifth, we don't play on the Cyberiad, we play on the Aurora. If you want even a chance to be accepted, you have a lot of changes to make, and you'll probably need to play for a few weeks more, anyway. For now, a definite -1.
14. Just before Schev sees this, you may want to provide some logs of what happened, and explain in more detail why what you did was okay. Actually, if you feel what you did was okay, you should make a staff complaint on Scheveningen - unban requests are for when you admit what you did was wrong, but you want your ban reduced for other reasons.
15. I am on the fence about this, so I would like to see a trial run. It seems realistic, but what if you fall on the asteroid, and can't call for help? Are lasered into crit, and then left to die with absolutely nothing you can do? It is easy to silence someone once they are stunned with simply a grab targeting mouth, do we want to make it easier?
16. I am completely satisfied with this solution. The tactical thinking was totally out of character for Latham, but I reckon anyone would have axed to save the officer's life. Thank you.
17. What a ride. I might start with these logs.
18. I would be interested in this. DnD 5e, or Call of Cthulu.
19. Okay, actually, to be honest, the taking up position thing with the axe was what I did wrong here. That wasn't the most realistic thing to do. I was only going to axe if she managed to get away from the officer, but I expected the officer to be able to take her in alive. If you want to punish for that, I'd just like the warning changed to reflect it, if it's worthy of a warning. Everything else, though, I stand by. If I could have flashed, I would have, but she had a voidsuit helmet on.
20. I can't comment on the understanding of lore because I don't really know diona lore, but I find the backstory interesting. I would like to play with that character. Aboshehab is an amazing roleplayer, to be honest. All his characters feel like they could be real people, and they are all interesting in very different ways. A 7/10 is an understatement. I don't really have more to say. Seriously, this dude is a pro. +1
21. BYOND Key: Superiorform Staff BYOND Key: DatBerry Game ID: (: bQX-dicD Reason for complaint: Before I begin, I would like to make it absolutely clear: I have no problems with DatBerry as a staff member. I think he is a great moderator. It's just that I really don't agree with his ruling on this issue. The station is in code delta, malf AI, lings, people dying everywhere, when I hear Eric Karson shout something to the effect of "HELP IN SURGERY" over radio. I try to chase down a passing officer and tell him to go check out surgery in case he missed it, and when I do catch up, I find that he is in the medical lobby. He does not have access, so I smash down the window to let him in. I realise that he won't have access to surgery, so I follow him in to smash the door down. Outside surgery, a robot tells us that the CMO is killing people, and opens the door. The officer enters, and engages the CMO, while I stay by the door. I watch the officer and CMO fight, and I take up a position so that if the CMO tries to run away, I can hit her with the axe. The officer runs out of ammo, and the CMO welds herself in. The officer draws his pistol, and I break the window down so the officer can enter. There is a fight, and the CMO takes down the officer. This is where I step in, and axe the CMO, once. It gores her right hand, I step back out of the room, and then the officer steps in and kills her, just before I shout for him to stop. I believe I was justified to axe the CMO in this situation. Throughout the fight, I had played a support role, and let the officer do the fighting, but after the CMO took the officer, down, I wasn't going to stand idly by or run away, to let the CMO murder the officer too. Karson's body was in the room the whole duration of this fight. The CMO was armed only with a needle, and I was armed with a fireaxe. It does not take much skill or bravery to swing an axe at the unarmed murderer to save the officer's life. The warning is: Accompanying an Officer as the RD with a fireaxe, and attacking the murderer after the officer went down, with no personal stake in the issue. I really don't think I needed personal stake in the issue to swing my axe at the unarmed man, risking my self not at all, and saving someone's life. I only stepped in after the officer was defeated. I'll see if I have any more elaboration or arguments tomorrow, its 12:45 right now, and I need to sleep. Again, no ill will to DatBerry. Evidence/logs/etc: Additional remarks: DatBerryScheveningan
22. I can tell you now, for a fact, that I saw, with my own eyes, a member of the ERT on fire, and I saw someone mention the on-fire ERT in deadchat. You may not have seen it, but it did, quite definitely, happen.
23. Hey. I was the guy that bwoinked you when you were ahelped, but unfortunately, I crashed. This is what I saw. There was a skirmish in the science hallway, where an ERT was killed. Things had moved down to the room below the RD office, when Faysal told the ERT to attack. Amalia runs into maintenance, and you give chase, shoving the trained soldiers aside. Firing your thermal lance, you do hit DataMatt, and he is set on fire. Then, you chase her into the maze, as she is shooting you! I would probably have thought it valid, if she wasn't shooting back, but you were getting shot when you attacked her. You then clicked on her with the thermal drill, it locked on, she died. The way I see it, that is validhunting. You disregarded your own character's safety, chased a criminal whilst being shot at, killed the criminal with an improvised weapon, all whilst shoving past the trained and heavily armed and armoured soldiers to do so - and even hitting one.
