I ahelped twice in one round, and DatBerry responded to both quickly, and was very helpful. I was ahelped against in a round, and DatBerry seemed friendly when he was getting my side of the story. He's exactly the type of moderator I like to deal with, in that regard. +1 from me. EDIT: I honestly think DatBerry has dibsed and resolved 80% of my recent ahelps. That's dedication.

Then it might be worth investigating the standard point blank multipliers instead. The mechanic already exists. Said mechanic should be tweaked. Adding a clause for, "If grabbed by" seems like a bad approach to this issue. Excellent! I do not mind how it is done, as long as I do not have to shoot someone in the head 5 times with a pistol while I have them grabbed by the throat to kill them. That being said, my way seemed the easiest. If we just upped the point blank damage, it would get used in combat for insta-kills, resulting in salt.
-
That is all very well and good, but I am not asking for this to make hostage taking ez. I am asking for this because it makes a lot of sense that you do not have to shoot someone in the back of the head 5 times to kill them, and it handily impacts on hostage-taking situations in a positive way. Why should I not be able to insta-kill someone when I have a gun to their head? Do we all have very thick skulls in 2459?
-
Because a point blank to the head when they are in a neckgrab is not an instant kill. With some weapons, it is not even guaranteed to kill them. You have to shoot them around 5 times with the laser pistol or ballistic pistol if you want them to die there and then, which is unrealistic, and useless for taking hostages. It wastes ammo, allows people to flashbang their way into a hostage situation, and removes the badass effect from executions, be it the head of security or the hostage taker doing the executing.

[Resolved] Player Complaint on Superiorform
Superiorform replied to Prospekt's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Before I write all that I was going to say in my complaint, I shall address all of the inaccuracies, half truths, and downright fabrications in yours. Let’s get right into it. “Instantly going for lethals to take me down when I posed no threat.” As we all know, IPCs do not feel pain. They cannot be flashed, tased, peppersprayed, or batonned. An IPC on the run, armed with, as I knew at the time, a revolver, is a dangerous thing indeed. Do note, that he was actually armed with a pump shotgun loaded with lethals, despite being a detective. You had refused to turn yourself in when I ordered you arrested, you had been extremely insulting, and downright refused my direct orders. You refused to lose your shotgun. Also, you are a mere IPC. You can be damaged, and repaired, and from mine and Leonce’s point of view, you were a very faulty, very rogue IPC. So yes. I had every reason to go straight to lethals. “ Basically what had happened was, unknowingly I told the captain to "shut the fuck up" after he told me to respect the HoP,” You said a lot more than that, but that will be covered in my complaint against you, and can be viewed in the logs I posted earlier. “I find it odd how this is even true? I understand IPCs are discriminated against but even then, he's loyalty implanted and IPCs aren't void of being protected by regulations. His overall failure to understand what it means to be a captain and have to follow corporate regulations honestly proves he isn't ready to play this role and surprised me that he made it past applications. Yes, you are protected by regulations, but I need to take you down. And for reasons detailed earlier, lethals were my only option. “ Let alone that, he found me in my office and requested that I handcuff myself. After asking him to sit down and talk, he said he was scared of me. Clearly asking him to simply sit and talk wasn't going to work (he asked for me to come to his office before to talk?) he took out his laser pistol (which has 2 functions, stun and lethal) and told me he has 2 valid reasons to open fire on me.” For reasons that I should have thought were obvious, I was not going to sit down for tea and biscuits with the heavily armed IPC that has been ignoring two heads of staff, and showing a complete lack of care for the consequences of his actions (employment termination.) “ I asked him one more time to just sit and talk it out […]” At the beginning of my post, I mentioned “downright fabrications.” This is one such example. Let us take a look at the logs. If this is asking to sit and talk it out, then… I cannot even think of an adequate analogy. I shot you because of your refusal to lose the weapon, refusal to come to your senses, and refusal to stop insulting the captain in ever more creative ways. As to the rest of your complaint, it plays down just how aggressive you were in a mightily convenient fashion. It is true that I shot you some more, and you shot me with your shotgun in the detectives office. I then ran to the bridge, where an officer and the HoP came to help me. Obviously, you chased me down to the bridge to try and kill me, before you were shot. You emoted surrendering. I will admit, I did not see this, and I would not have shot you if I had. My mistake. I, knowing you had a pistol, but not knowing you surrendered, shot at you. You shot at me with your pistol, before I ran away into medical to be treated. "He is genuinely hostile [...]" Yes, I am to an IPC (Viatorem does not like sassy synthetics one bit) that has been insulting me, my heads of staff, and has a gun. Do note, I have been complimented on my "friendly", "laid back", captain style. I believe I have thoroughly refuted all of your points, and pointed out convenient inaccuracies and mistakes. Expect a player complaint against yourself for terrible IPC play, validhunting, self-antagging, and hostile and insulting LOOC. If you would like to talk about poor whitelisted behaviour, your play during that round was a goldmine. I will, of course, respond to any further points you make, though I believe I have said all that is needed to be said. Finally, apologies for any spelling/grammar errors here. I am very tired. -
[Resolved] Player Complaint on Superiorform
Superiorform replied to Prospekt's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
It is 1:34 in the morning, and I am very tired, but I will try to write up a full response to this, including my own, far more grounded, accusations against Prospekt. For now, here are the entirety of the related logs, from my point of view. I find them rather telling, and I would urge anyone looking to weigh in on this topic to read them in full. -
This would stop the instant execution required for hostage taking. If someone lobs a flashbang or starts shooting at the hostage taker, he needs to be able to instakill the hostage.
-
I am in favour of this, purely for the fact I was recently mortified when I ordered an engineer to do something over the engineering channel, and the CE had a go at me for micromanaging. He had a point too. It would be nice for everyone to know when a head comes aboard.
-
I like this idea. So many multi-antag gimmicks I've been wanting to do, but aren't accomodated in mixed secret. More chaos, more fun.
-
If you have a gun you would be able to slaughter people faster by just spraying them down, and you can do that exact same thing with a knife already. But! Hark! I have a solution to your, and [mention]Scheveningen[/mention] 's problem. What if, before you execute someone, you have to have had them in redgrab for 5 seconds already. This would still keep the badass execution and hostage taking potential, while removing the combat potential. Obviously, the 5 second number could be tweaked.

Player Complaint: Alberyk?!?!
Superiorform replied to Tequilajoe's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Oh, alright then. I'll withdraw what I said then. Killing in that situation sounds reasonable to me. -
Player Complaint: Alberyk?!?!
Superiorform replied to Tequilajoe's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
When you are about to kill someone, and you have full control over them, like they are on the floor and you have a spear poised ready to gore them to death, and the player you are about to kill has shown a willingness for RP and there is no rush to kill them... why not RP? Even just a few sentences would suffice. Get him into a neckgrab so he can't resist, and just RP a bit. The second the player presses resist, kill them. Of course, if sec was hunting you down, don't bother RPing. If he is trying to fight or get away, don't bother RPing. If you don't have a guaranteed win, don't bother RPing. In my opinion, Alberyk had no reason to not RP, and seeing as this is an RP server, we should all take every opportunity we can to RP. No, as he says, he did not break rules, but he still could have played it a lot better. Just a few say commands would have done. Gloating. Anything. Even a "me merciessly gores Monique, saying nothing." would have added flavour. That being said, I don't know if it is worth any punishment at all. It is a very minor transgression. -
Nerf aim intent and readjust its initial purpose
Superiorform replied to Scheveningen's topic in Completed Projects
Absolutely agree with this. We should get the precognitive aim for a few seconds because you were just stood there focusing and aiming for a while. If you only got one shot at the man who runs away, or pulls a gun and shoots you, it would be way to easy to quickdraw and turn the tables on your attacker, or get away. -
This misses the point. Anything longer than instantaneous is bad, for the reasons outlined in the OP. Yes, you can kill people easily, but with multiple shots, making most guns worse than knives for hostage taking, and forcing you to execute someone with 6 bullets to the back of the head.
-
I do agree that its use in combat could be bad in some people's eyes, however, if you have someone in a neckgrab, you have won anway. And you can instant kill them with a knife. So why not a gun? I don't think it would be too unbalanced, I don't think it would be unfun, and it's realistic. I reckon it would be alright in combat, and fair. I wouldn't mind having it used against me, even.
-
Make it so that when you have someone in a redgrab (not necessarily choking them though), you have head intent on, and a gun in your hand, clicking on the man you have grabbed fires a bullet straight into their neck or brain, and instantly kills them, if you have a bullet loaded of course. I feel like it should be the same for laser weapons, I reckon that at this super close range all of the laser wouldn't be moving about very much, so all of the energy goes into a very short area and melts their skull or neck, instantly killing them. This would allow for three things: 1) Better hostage situations. If I had someone with a gun to their head, and someone flashbangs me, I can't instantly kill them. I can shoot them point blanc, yes, but they probably won't die. It is really stupid. 2) Cooler executions. I remember I was in the captain's office, my revolution had all but failed, and after a lengthy RP process, the captain ordered the HoS, "Kill him.". The captain left the room. I stared into the commanders eyes. He grabbed me. Forced me to my knees. Before emptying an entire clip into me, and I didn't even immediately die. Pretty shit, really. There are many such situations I have been apart of, as executioner, and the unlucky man, and none of them were as cool as they should have been. 3) Combat. If I am wrestling someone, I get them to the ground, but they are struggling. I might not keep them there. I- I struggle, reach for my gun! Finally! I have it! I raise it to their head, they are fighting, and- bang! I breathe a sigh of relief. If you get someone into a redgrab, and you have a knife, you can instantly kill them, so why not a gun?
-
I think this one is self explanatory. It is not an instantaneous process to weld lockers and door shut, and both are used in combat when it is completely unrealistic. I'd like it to take some time for this to happen. Maybe... 5 seconds would be a non-frustrating amount of time.

There are a few problems here, but, to be fair, you do seem genuinely unaware of them. I'm not giving my opinion on whether you should be unbanned or not, just pointing out some problems. First of all, if you want to RP a drug addict... fine. But you need to make it believable. If you always end up stealing valuable minerals to make your own oxycodone, it's just not realistic. First of all, being able to make the oxycodone, and second of all, breaking in. If you character is that reliant on drugs that he must break into chemistry and steal all the time, would he really be hired? Is that realistic? I myself have a character who breaks into the bar, but he does it carefully, and covers his tracks, and doesn't really have a drinking problem. Finally, there are better ways to get the phoron. Perhaps begging for someone to make you oxycodone could be better RP. Second of all, do keep in mind silicons here do not have Asimov by standard. Rather, they have NT default, which closes some loopholes. Now, consider this. Is destruction of valuable NT property really realistic? At all? Does your character want to be fired? Just some points to consider, I do understand, moving to HRP can be rather jarring. You have to really get into your characters shoes and think of the consequences of your actions. I would also urge you to lower the amount of question marks you use, it can seem as if you are super sure you are right, and questioning other peoples decisions, its almost insulting, and it won't have your appeal taken as seriously. Good luck with your appeal.

Yes. 100%. It is so irritating to play security, or even witness security being micromanaged by a captain. Even when there isn't a HoS. "You, take him to processing." "You, interrogate him." The team can manage itself! To add, listen to your inferiors. If the HoS says to do something, even if you, the captain, don't agree with it, it is annoying to be overidden. Just let it happen, and speak to him later, unless it is obviously terribly stupid. Finally, listen to people when they ask you something. Sometimes I am asking the captain for help, because security is treating me stupidly, an dthey just brush you off.

[2 Dismissals: Archived] Add back snake people for adminbus please

I definitely think traitor/rev could work really well. It could get very interesting with, perhaps, syndicate agents there to start a revolution, or maybe a traitor sides with the loyalists, or maybe they are just there to take advantage of the chaos. There are a lot of ways this could play out, and I'd be happy to see it exist.
-
There isn't any room for gimmicks with this gamemode, it would be the same every time, and much more suited to LRP. However, I would love to see this as a one-off admin event, with the whole crew searched and scrutinized by NT and extra security sent to the station to stop this trade-off. Maybe it could even be canon, like the Heph spy event.

[Accepted] Azande's Head Whitelist Application
Superiorform replied to Azande's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I don't have much to say on the topic of Xander being a head, really, but I have a little bit. Before his permaban, I really hated the infamous captain, Jester Stamos, for reasons that have been brought up, time and time again. When I learned he was banned, I was actually happy, and, to my regret, I did insult him. However, after coming back, I really enjoyed playing with some of Xander's characters, and I have noticed 0 OOC misconduct from him. We even had a very civil conversation over discord where we reconciled differing points of view. What does this mean? Xander has changed, and matured, and can listen to different points of view very well. All things vital for a head of staff. At first, I was wary he might just go back to old Xander, and well, he might, who knows? But, in my opinion, he probably won't. I think the reward of having him in a head position massively outweighs the risk of a "relapse". A definite +1 from me,
