Since this is technically species statistics, will there ever be a poll or something so we can see the ratio of white characters to asian characters to black characters and so on? I want to laugh when there are less black dudes than there are diona.

Take a role, character idea, stereotype, or whatever you feel like. Mold your mind around that character's mind so you can get IMMERSED (No matter how silly your character might be). Have fun. If it begins to fuck with your head go take a break and get drunk or play some other video games.

What would you do if you woke up as your aurora character?
Carver replied to NoahGoldFox's topic in General
As Dace 'THE ACEMAN' Morel, I'd probably just go get drunk and try hitting on my coworkers before scamming people into thinking I'm some kind of health guru/personal trainer and make them do things for me because I'd be a lazy bastard. As Alfred Preston, I'd probably just go take a nap in the medical lobby and get high on opiates because I'd be goddamn old. -
Just steal Bay's nuke op base with it's variety of the old softsuits, the current hardsuits, and different weapons and tools for different gimmicks. Bonus points if you ever add their hardsuit code down the line as well so there's a particularly notable difference in choice later.

One issue I see is how antagonists would mess with the 'persistent' aspect. For example, let's say Nuke Ops are going to blow up the station. Let's say I decide to withdraw a large sum of money, 5,000 credits, to pay these nuke ops for safe transit and they blow up the station. Why would I still be missing that five grand next round? Another good example is bribing Security as an antag, I pay Urist McCorrupt two grand to ignore my theft that he walked in on. Does he keep this two grand and I lose this two grand despite the fact my antaggery isn't canon whatsoever? Overall, yeah, different starting sums is great but you just can't make persistent purchases work out unless you literally ahelp every single time you use your money for something big and round-specific, and that's just another pointless layer of workload for staff.

Whilst we're at it, can we get the antag-gear multitool from other codebases that subtly changes colour when an AI is watching you/sees you over cameras?
-
This actually isn't necessary since you can just shove a power cell into the recharger willy nilly. Even easier since there's an all-access recharger in Arrivals.

They look pretty solid to me. More customization is never a bad thing to help make our 32x32 sprites a little more visually different from each other.

I don't see how rainbow socks could cause an uproar in a community where half the MDs have their hair dyed a bright neon colour, hanging past their ankles.

I think that's Goonstation, actually, and their VR systems were pretty cash. Detective had a VR set, the communal brig had a VR sleeper, and so on. Sent you to a combat sim filled with a variety of guns and other things, and IIRC you could emag the VR sleepers so once someone is in, they can't come out without someone else's help. (Or maybe at all I don't really remember because I never used the systems.)

Star Trek is a good reference for sci-fi things when said sci-fi things are a direct reference to Star Trek. (Holodeck, hypospray, a few of the chemical reagents, CMO's blue labcoat, the old energy guns/phasers before they transitioned into more traditional taser/lasers, etc.)

A little bit of water and the like I've noted in the show, but a sweltering atmosphere of burning plasma and welding fuel isn't something I imagine either the SS13 or Star Trek holoemitters could maintain outside of the holodeck, as that would likely drain power quite a bit. Though, thinking on the Star Trek variation has raised a few ideas of sims one could add to the SS13 holodeck, both safe and non-safe.

Recreational/food service department channel
Carver replied to the_furry's topic in Completed Projects
I've noticed other servers using 'Service' channels, it doesn't hurt, and it certainly makes it easier for the Bartender to contact Botany without having to leave the bar. Coordination is handy and people don't seem to fancy fixing the PDA servers when they break. -
Oh baby I love my words being taken the wrong way.

Well if we're going by Star Trek lore on holodecks, they just rearrange matter. Going by the times where the holodeck gets messed up in Star Trek, it could also, very feasibly kill someone. The only oddity is that, the Star Trek holodecks, even with their own safety bits messed up, still couldn't maintain any holomatter entities outside of the holodeck. They'd just fade. So the fire, the carp, and so on, shouldn't be able to exist outside of the holodeck. Therefore one could very feasibly nerf these simulations whilst still maintaining their lethality, by just having the contents 'disappear' if they leave the holodeck.

That last brig/'classic brig' did not have motion sensors. You'd need to be sitting at the targetting range or looking through the external camera for anyone to notice a pair of nuke ops strolling up and planting a bomb. I might dig up the map and check this, though.
-
It should probably be noted Flash rounds are completely worthless in any sort of combat or self-defense scenario, so if you decide to suggest the non-lethal route, rubbers are the way to go.
-
I don't need to be a weeb to appreciate some fine, fine socks. Though, if a suggestion doesn't actually harm the game or the atmosphere, the question isn't why, it's why not.

I remember when this game came out and a friend told me the sole reason to play Dominion is because you get to kill these things in PvP: Is the game still horribly unoptimized?
-
You wouldn't need to walk to the HoP/Captain for him to change your access, they'd just do it remotely by inputting your fingerprint code then altering access. Entirely new avenues of sabotage, and entirely new avenues of security.
-
Everybody loves socks, for socks make everything better. Especially thigh-high socks.
-
If we just replaced the ID system with voice/eye/fingerprint scanners, that could offer a rather interesting avenue of new ways to infiltrate. Cutting off hands, cutting out eyes, switching fingerprints in the records (This might need to be locked to require HoP/Captain access to alter), changelings switching their bodies. Sounds pretty neat instead of a mixed system.
-
Oh baby I love me some socks. Can we get more undergarments to go with them? For example, boxers and the like.

Take the beaker from the grinder noone remembers exists in the backroom, fill it with mistake, and dump freely.
