Personally I want the term snowflakey stamped out. It's a lazy term that people use to either falsely reinforce their opinion or because they can't be bothered to place out a well thought out critique. And I completely agree with Delta/1138. The second a community actively seeks out to prevent what they deem bad RP, they become somewhat elitist without realizing it and it creates an incredibly toxic environment. A roleplay server should welcome people who want to try out roleplay, not pave it's own desired regime of what counts as 'good rp.'
-
If anything, I'm starting to avoid security. No one will be happy with whatever decision you make, sure you might provide good rp for one party but not the other. I've found myself sitting around as a carcass because I gave antags breathing room. All I can say is if you haven't played Security, do so, on a messy round too.

The Psych office could use a shutter system.

That takes the fun out of it though. People ask why bother going into detail about the races biologically? I'll merely reply by saying isn't it human nature to take things apart, or put stuff together to figure out how things work? What makes a race interesting for me, personally, is how their planet functions, how they adapted to that planet or what caused their current evolutionary state. You say, he's a plant man or a cat human and I ask, what traits do they have to make them that way? What's going on under the hood, what is the logic behind it? To me, I enjoy this, you can find so much about a race or what the race could entail. For example, why are Diona's slow? Because they're plant people? No, that's a boring answer. Their nymph form is far too swift for that answer to fit. What if it was because a Diona is a bunch of nymphs, a collection of minds if you will, and to take in account how much a sapient brain takes up energy wise would explain why the Diona would be so slow. Because it's using so much energy on it's thought processes, it's motor skills would lag behind in a lethargic manner. It's stuff like that, that can... enhance this made up world. Edit: Also probably because there is no way for them to have fast twitch muscles or the perfect blend that species such as human have.

Let's not forget Security is one of the hardest departments to work in. There's no game mechanics such as rebuilding or cloning to clean up after a screw up.

Jakers457 replied to Erik Tiber's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Constructive criticism opposed to calling something Snowflakey? By god, that might just work. But I'm going to side with Tiber to some extent, it makes sense given current day developments and the fact people can apparently live a few hundred years lore wise. Edit: It's cloning that should be expensive. How much do you reckon biomass costs to develop ? And we seem to clone people liberally. -
It seems most of the hairstyles were designed for the crude humor that SS13 is known for. But it's not really suited to our server, most of them seem to be joke haircuts and are hardly touched. It would be good to have some more believable or appealing haircuts to add more variety to the staff. I mean if you haven't noticed, only a small selection of hairstyles are being used by people. I think I suggested this before, but it'll make it easier to add a little variety.

I would like brands. I always try to get a packet of Drome' brand smokes.

In all fairness a pint of Guinness or a bottle of beer shouldn't get you pissed. That's borderline teetotal.

Fortune Bloise - Probably one the most reliable characters within research. Though I don't get to interact with the character much, I have been able to believe she's actually qualified in her field. Nasir Hakim - Though there's been a lot of conflicts with this character in my experience, I like to think he's pretty well made. I mean, let's get it straight, the character is an asshole with a tendency to bitch and have fits. But they know what they're doing and how to run their department. Plus they seem to have looked past Roy's many, many flaws and cares about him a lot, which is sweet.. #BROTP.

(OOC: Can I get a heads up from anyone who's applied here and still is interested? Getting the ball rolling.)

Rrospekt, we're already getting a land map. And also, I do prefer a colony feel to a station one but eh.

I suppose so, though that would also be nice to have.

Their Cunabula could be something like.... Epsilonus or something. I mean if we go by the system where humans and skrell made first contact with the Diona, then we could use that as Cunabula for them.

I personally find it enjoyable to look into these kind of things. Is easy enough to create a race and say 'that thing is there because it is there' isn't as interesting. Sure people complained about the excessive amount of fluff, but a cut and dry classification doesn't take up several paragraphs. It also would be good for research players, who wanted to study different races.... in a politically correct manner.

Well most holobadges being requested and accepted are for private firms. To me having a mech license would be similar to say, a driver's license or a pilot's license, so you'd have it on you as part of your personal items. If we were to go more extensive to why it would be there in the work place then we can look at tradesman, those who are qualified to use cranes (in the UK anyway) keep a license on them. Though I understand what you're saying, and I can respect your view. I personally I see it to be no different from the custom badges that are currently being used, if anything a license is more practical. Perhaps it may result in it becoming a general item but that was the catalyst for custom signatures if I'm not mistaken.

Unknown species and intruders aren't covered by Corporate regulations. If you're an abomination of nature or came aboard without clearance..... Well, let's say the mice will have more rights than you. You can't honestly tell me that you expect Security or Command to allow a massive liability to walk freely. Nor will IA side with a liability, they'd sooner have any loose ends cut off to benefit the company.

Would it be so different from the custom police badges?

What we can be sure on, is that they're definitely polyphyletic due to how they've developed.

It would be pretty similar to how cables works. So rather than, say, having to place an elbow joint just to get a turn in the system. You could just lay down speedfit in a bend. Also, you wouldn't need to wrench it to the floor as it would be just laid across like cable. Speedfit can also take up to about 14.5 PSI in pressure, much may or may not be good. I don't play atmos enough for the variables.

Same with Detomax cartridges. I recommend explosive implanting a monkey and sending it into a crow as an alternative.
