Add a scar to your flavor text and tell your doctor to switch hands to injure you in looc? Almost no one likes sitting unconscious through surgery, especially for longer than they have to. It’s literally staring at a blank screen for up to 20 minutes if your surgeon is new. Very few people enjoy hanging out in medical and most will just take off the moment we say they’re improving. RNG fail chances is artificial difficulty. Artificial difficulty is bad game design.

When you’re mostly used to getting something for free and suddenly someone wants 10 credits for food it’s absolutely unacceptable, I come here all the time! Why has it suddenly changed?!!? I need to speak to your manager.

[Resolved] Player Complaint - Lin Dyslioth, MissNatcula
Resilynn replied to MattAtlas's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
On the note of establishing a pattern, I have seen Lin do the following recently (within one month)- -Deny a telescientist’s request to come map her department on this research station despite the majority command vote to give this scientist the opportunity to do his project with supervision. No hos should ignore a command vote, it carries the weight of captains orders. You should say yes to gimmicks and projects when able, we are here to facilitate a good round. -Bash other members of command, unprompted, on the security radio. -Refuse to make charges on her ic friends. IRs are hard to file. They take awhile to write, they take a long time to process, and antag involvement gets them tossed out. On top of that, they’re an RP tool. Some characters just would not file an IR. Some, like AIs and borgs, can’t file IRs. You’re an hos so the probability of an incident having something to do with an antag is VERY high. IRs are not meant to be a lesser player complaint, if I’m understanding fully what you’re saying here, natcula. Apologies if I misunderstand, but I felt it was worth clarifying. -
Excuse me, we have one very important and great at roleplay and good at following their laws secborg who should never be removed. It’s Beepsky. The rest are pmuch bad. Even the best ones are like. Better as engineering borgs. +1

Fill beaker (available in all medical vendors) with 5 units of water from the sink, add pills. Bam.
-
Also, one bottle of bicaridine is enough to stop IB twice. Again, your nerf is a buff.
-
You're not listening. We don't use a ton of tricor. You don't need many of these drugs to get through a round- I rarely go through a whole bottle of any one drug (60 units) and I abuse the shit out of bicaridine. Pill bottles come with around 120 units. That means 2 pill bottles are going to fully supply 4 doctors for an entire round with a much stronger medication. The basis of your argument is that tricor is OP. It's not. It's slow, it's weak, it doesn't fix most problems.
-
This is a huge buff to medical compared to tricor.
-
Hi, the medmain here. Tricor is balanced already. It's slow as fuck. It will not prevent death from- internal bleeding, ruptured lungs, organ damage, infection, and severe poisoning. It will prevent death from- getting stabbed a bunch as long as you're not currently being stabbed, eating some bugjuice from the vending machines, and getting burned as long as you are not currently on fire (but you'll still die from the infection). Real winners don't even use tricor because it is actually the shittiest at what it does.

Character Feedback: Samara Watson
Resilynn replied to Rosetango's topic in Character and Concept Feedback
Feedback threads aren't feedback threads, really. -
You understand that replacing the stun baton (unless it’s with something weaker) defeats the purpose of this suggestion, right? I’m directing this at everyone calling for a replacement, not just one person.
-
Wouldn’t they, idk, try to run and get better gear like a normal human? You don’t have to win every fight right away.
-
I’m not responding to you when your tone is this hostile and sarcastic. I’m still in favor of the change.
-
I like this change. It forces security to second guess if they can/should just charge a foe. A great recent example I can think of- bygone’s assistant got xenomicrobe’d. The captain (played by Xander that round) ordered the alien Queen in a miniskirt desperately flailing for help and trying to communicate with an engineer and Cato tech friend detained for research- ok, totally acceptable because of directive 4. The captain specified nonlethal, please. Which is when all of seurity whipped out their stun batons and started torturing (it’s pain crit, you can’t argue it’s not torture) the thing, shoving aside the people talking the assistant-alien-Queen down, forcing bygone to escalate because otherwise he was just repeatedly being prodded to the floor wordlessly- and then they immediately justified his retaliation as a reason to escalate to lethal force. Seurity don’t NEED to immediately out-arm antags, especially before even opening the armory. They have a cargo department and science department that can make/order things for them. They SHOULD be hesitant to get into fights. Not only does limiting their loadout force them to second guess if they should go stun baton a thing down until it’s secure in the brig, it also forces them to actually interact pleasantly with the crew to get more snazzy weapons. +100000

[Accepted]kyres1 interim lore master deputy application
Resilynn replied to kyres1's topic in Developer Applications Archives
He's personable, he works hard, his contributions have been good and consistent, he's an active player, he responds incredibly well to feedback and criticism. Kyres for president, tbh. -
This, a little bit. I’ve heard science players say they don’t bother coming on as science when Thea is HoP because they know you’ll be kidnapped or engrossed in rp with some officer somewhere before you can sign off their forms. I didn’t think you were asking for all this attention- it’s something I’ve had characters struggle with too. But then two nights in a row I’ve seen you insert yourself into situations with ninjas when there was a fully capable security team- just last night I saw you crowd around him after we KNEW he was a bomb threat. Also, do not mark yourself dnc if you don’t want to die on extended. It’s stupid. Having a canon funeral for someone that 40 people suddenly have to void is stupid. It cheapens the universe and the value of continuity between rounds.

Okay, but shouldn’t a headmin be aware the shuttle is held plural times daily? Even on here, he claims it’s only once or twice a month. Doesn’t he have an obligation to know the rules, and the server culture, his tone aside?

Suggestion: Adding a sentence to the contraband guide (found here: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Guide_to_Contraband, will be linked to the regulations page shortly). This sentence will read, “small defense tools that do not easily incapacitate crew members such as small knives (steel, pocket) and flashes are not considered contraband, however, they may be confiscated by security if they are abused. Weapons that do incapacitate crew, I.e., stub batons, condensed capcasin pepperspray, are still considered contraband.” Why might I support this? This change would allow your characters to carry a pocket knife, flash, or similar object of personal defense/ utility nature on their person without facing contraband charges. As it stands, these objects are considered contraband and result in a 15 minute brig sentence- as a medium level infraction. However, it seems perfectly reasonable that small defense tools would be allowed on a station that has seen repeated hostile invading forces- the lii’dra, raiders. Similar tools are generally permitted in modern day workplaces. Mechanically, steel knives do less damage than fists, and flashes no longer paralyze, so their inclusion would be unlikely to cause more harm to antags and security in game. Why might I be opposed to this? The accessibility of these tools may lead to an increase in their abuse- while knives, for example, do less damage than punching, their use may force antags to escalate conflict, as ordinary crew members will be better armed than they currently are. While this is not problematic to more human antags due to the low damage/nonlethal nature of these tools, flashes in particular will be considerably more problematic to vaurca antags and malf/ traitor borgs. Counter argument because obviously I am biased and you are all welcome to chip into the argument: Vaurca and borgs are already mechanically advantaged in these situations (powerful attacks from vaurca and all access from borgs). The abuse of these tools to valid hunt will, as always, be against the rules. Flashes, though a problem for these species, will not be available in the loadout and will retain their current spawn rate. Odds and ends: Your feedback is appreciated-however, ultimately I hope to make this decision using the poll, so make sure you vote. Paradoxspace is working on civilian pepperspray that just slows your attacker and does not give them pain crit to possibly add to the loadout if this goes through- tactical knives will also hopefully be redesigned as pocket knives because they really do not do much damage. These are all tentative changes, though, and your vote either way does not ensure their implementation, merely the change to regulation. Buttetfly knives will obviously still be contraband due to the damage they do, as will cleavers for nonchefs, hatchets for nongardeners, etc.

I finished it awhile ago and mofo just forgot to announce it but I’m okay with still being a trial if I get my BEAUTIFUL WHITE NAME BACK ON THE DISCORD.

Nope. I would like to clarify for Nat that I, also, do not just fire people who disagree with me. We even offered to change Maxwell to an EMT, and it took him almost giving you organ damage and telling me to fuck off when I told him to move to actually demote him. My characters reputation benefits my character, so I don’t usually try to dispel it, but the reason I have a million complaints (btw, all 3 of the ones this year directly involved Maxwell) and am still around as CMO is because staff go through logs and determine that usually, if I’m demoting or shoving someone, it’s for an exceptionally good reason. You should not take Gonzales’ reputation OOCly and should not base any of your OOC decisions off of it. -
Give them the ability to get into the main area of security and the ability to get to the cargo airlocks. Bonus points if they can get halfway to xenobiology (basic science access). Because there are emergency calls there all the time and people DO die regularly on extended while a QM goes 'lmao if the die the clone lol' and slowly shambles up to the door to let the EMT out. Yesterday a QM took 5 minutes. Because he was sorting the warehouse first.

Resilynn replied to MissNatcula's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Hi! I think SHODAN has been HoS longer than I’ve been command- so, 2 years, at least. Could be wrong. All of this sounds like an IC issue. We ended the round before, the one where I tossed Maxwell out of the way because he was trespassing in my medical bay, told me to fuck off when I told him to go see the hop, and was failing to properly treat Lin (when your toxins are severe, dialysis is just getting the poison out of your blood- scrubbers do not put poison in your blood, they put it in your lungs. All he was doing was filtering out the dylovene he was giving you and letting you get liver failure)- we ended that round as a command team hanging out in the bar because we pretty much unanimously thought it was ridiculous an HoS would 1. Shit talk another member of command unprompted over their departmental radio (I don’t think we had even interacted in round before I had officers coming up to me like uhhhhh what’s the hos doing- officers, not just Sophie). And we pretty much unanimously thought it was ridiculous you were charging me for battery and not charging Maxwell for neglect of duty, trespassing, and failure to execute an order. So it makes sense the same captain and Sophie wanted to talk to you. Unless you’re suggesting characters are not allowed to have a grudge, which, given your characters conduct with mine, seems unlikely. -
Side note. You all realize at any point you could have gone back to the station and gotten handheld radios, right? Sure, next time we will spawn them in. But they were always an option.
