[Denied]A'lyx Lemire Tajran Application
Skull132 replied to tudeslildude's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Senpai Jackboot I was bored and amused by the amazingness of this application and did some digging around. The application is in violation of this rule here: He has not played a single round here. And only has 3 connections logged. I also can't tell if this app is a meme or just silly. Because who the fuck is Android Data. -
Azande minimum antag count would be lowered to 3. So the same ratio would be maintained.

2017 has ended, so let's see what happened and perhaps what we can learn from it. This thread will contain a general overview of the year with my thoughts attached, along with an overview and explanation of the data. I've also published the results of the survey from like, August. Go gawk. (And note that it's from the end of the summer, where shit was pretty crazy.) The Year in Review The last year has most certainly been the stronkest year we've had development wise. The new map was a success it really shouldn't have been, take that as astonishment more than anything else; we've had regular and large updates with content, fixes, optimizations, etcetera. Granted, the last few months have been slower than the rest, thanks to outside circumstances, but the development team and I will be looking to make amends for that once we are able. And perhaps now, with the new map released, we can look into updating the duties of some departments, like medical and engineering, along with starting to look into how we can break the general mold of SS13 to be something new and different. A few ideas have already been tossed about, all of them showing promise to go counter to the general round scheme of doing initial setup, and then waiting for the actors of the round to show up. Though, considering that I have already dedicated at least one, if not two threads towards development over the past six months, I think we should look at other happenings as well. Lore had their second antagonist contest. From which one key lesson should be taken away for the future, in my opinion. It is clear that the last week, where the Sol government military had an active presence on the Exodus, was more engaging than the rest of the second contest combined with the first. The lesson alluded to before would be that events like this, specially long haul ones, require something tangible to be present ingame. Simply working with numbers, as the antag contest did in the beginning, does not make a difference great enough for the average player to notice and feel impacted by. This gets worse when said intangible numbers are the cause of some tangible outcome, as was the case with the first antagonist contest, if my memory serves me. Perhaps the lore team and admin team will find better ways to communicate and organize more player-relevant events in the future, using said lessons. The team also expanded with the creation of the wiki workgroup, which is now led by AllyBearsly. Their work has not had any explosive breakthroughs, there really aren't any to be had. Instead, it's been a steady, forward movement towards actually having a usable, maintained, and filled wiki. All this thanks to the contributions of AllyBearsly and his team! Reviewing the Statistics With those pleasant words said, let's move onto reviewing the conglomerate of numbers I've pulled from the database. Though, before I do, regarding the feedback given around August. One of the large issues we noticed while evaluating the text responses was the expectation for staff to be proactive in noticing bad conduct. While this point has been rightfully crusaded against by our admins beforehand, I would still like to make this clear. With our as-small-as-can-be staff team, we cannot notice everything. So please help us, by adminhelping these things! Even small things, like unacceptable records, flavour text, character design, etcetera! There is little to come from scoffing and not doing anything about it. I will gloss over the death statistics, there shouldn't really be anything surprising there. More players, coupled with mixed secret, ended with a higher death toll this year than last year. Average deaths per day also rose accordingly. The person who died most last year, at 182 logged deaths, was Printer16. This year the title is held by Superiorform, at 255 deaths. It should also be noted that falling deaths and injuries weren't immediately logged with the new map, so there are certainly more of them than is indicated. The player count statistics are worth paying heed to, however. Our average player count over the course of the year rose by an entire 10 points, going from 29 to 40. The average from 2015 was 36. So, as it stands, this is the highest amount of regular traffic and the largest regular player base the server has yet seen. And it has shown in the issues which have arisen. The amount of unique ckeys visited also rose by 4 000. Granted, there are bound to be dupes and whatever else there; but even with those discounted, it's still a large difference. The most chaotic time as a result of this rise was during the summer, needless to say. As a tangential note, with the feedback form responses originating from the end of the summer, this would explain the number of disgruntled responses. It is my hope that we have slowly recovered from that, and managed to resolve some of those qualms. If not, please talk to our staff! Administrative statistics show a rise in the amount of punitive action taken. Minus on the permabans issued. Though not all of these rises are in proportion to each other, with the amount of notes and warnings issued rising roughly two-fold, where as the amount of bans and permabans issued barely changed. In one part, this is most likely because, with the higher trough-put of players, you get someone doing something silly, you warn and note them, and they either learn, or no longer show up. Or perhaps they learned. The final note from me, regarding statistics, is about the species statistics. Unfortunately the IPCs are no longer the most popular non-human species. Predictably, it is the Tajarans. Though the IPCs are close behind, I suppose. That about wraps up my review and opinions on 2017. Feel free to discuss and post your own thoughts and views as replies!

Open paint.exe. Paste the image into paint using the large "Paste" button up top left. Click "Crop" from the top left, this will cut out all of the white area. Click "Resize", swap it to Pixels, make sure "Maintain aspect ratio" is checked. Input "175" into the "Hortizontal" control. Press "Ok". "File" -> "Save as" -> "Png" -> wherever you want to find it. Upload onto forums via User Control Panel and enjoy success.

And I suppose you could submit a new one if you feel like you're done lying. But that'll be up for Garn and Co to judge. -
[Denied] ParakeetPanzer Unban Request
Skull132 replied to terrydavis's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Because there was nothing productive to be gained from talking to a liar. For the record: I get contacted by this individual over Discord and he says he's banned. Says he never played here, blablabla. I open the ban logs, find his ckey is associated with that of mattehbe and is catching that same ban. The reason being this: I also find a link to this thread in mattehbe's notes. Anyways, I run the usual questions that I give to people who are attempting to ban dodge. This guy just feigns ignorance. He then claims that Mattehbe was a friend that used his computer at some point. Well okay, on a whim I quickly check Mattehbe's forum account and find the nugget of gold I posted above. Not only do the things I saw with your attempted connections require you to actively fuck with your game; but to believe that you gave out your email address to a friend is fucking ridiculous. This has truly been an amazing moment in my Christmas Day, thank you. Appeal denied. Lying on an appeal is certainly not allowed, and neither is attempting to dodge a ban. -

[Denied] Server Moderator Application - DasFox

I'm curious now. Implications are sinful, so I will ask outright: right now it sounds like you think nagging people over LOOC to do something "right" is fair conduct? Please also elaborate on your answer. -
Hahaha. No. All species are incompatible with eachother biologically, due to living on other planets. Some are even trees/fungi/machines. +1 vote for dismissal. Addendum: in the case that this badly written and generally lacking post is asking for xenomorphs (the alien ripoff ones) to be added as crew. Still +1 vote for dismissal because no.

[Accepted] Proxy - Nanotoxin unban appeal
Skull132 replied to Thundy's topic in Unban Requests Archive
I will answer this one for the record. You and Ryfer are the first and only people to actually make a meme and a trolling attempt out of a picture posted by a community member out of good faith. While I understand that posting our likeness opens us up to said memes, with the internet being the internet and all, I truly do not think we have a place for people who cross that particular line here within our community. You also apparently had a fun time with Xander. All this makes you out to be an individual that I would rather this community have no dealings with, outside a very marginal entry in our database's ban table. I am certain you can understand the reasons behind such a belief. I am also a great disbeliever of, "It's been 4 years man, I've changed man!" Specially when concerning adults who are usually credited with being fully mentally able to review their decisions before carrying them out. Regardless. That's basically all I have to say on the matter. I suppose you have ticked all of the basic niceties now, so perhaps we get to see whether or not you display the same broken thought process that landed you here in the beginning. Up to Garn to decide. -
[Accepted] Proxy - Nanotoxin unban appeal
Skull132 replied to Thundy's topic in Unban Requests Archive
There is little need to add onto my words, as I: Did not say nor imply that your alt was banned; I simply stated that you were using an alternate account that I was able to identify as yours. Am fully certain that what you did was trolling; you once again leave out the actual connection between the character of Korey Feldman and the shenanigans that had, a few minutes ago, went down on Discord. Coupled with the meme photo as flavour text, all staff online at the time agreed that it constitutes as trolling. Hence why your comrade, Ryfer, got a ban with that exact reason. Have not referred to you as nor called you a pathological liar. My point is that you have thus far failed to own and take responsibility for your conduct, and are being deceptive about the nature of your trolling. If you can clearly. In one paragraph or sentence. Without any attempt to justify, defend, or otherwise protect your ego. Take ownership of your conduct and apologize for it, then [in my eyes] there may actually be a reason for unbanning you. Thus far you've failed to do the former properly and have now misconstrued and exaggerated my words without need for it. Or you could wait and see what Garn has to say about this whole affair. -

Because this is apparently being entertained, I went ahead and temporarily unbanned NanoToxin from the forums. It'll make the game of telephone less silly. -

[Accepted] Proxy - Nanotoxin unban appeal
Skull132 replied to Thundy's topic in Unban Requests Archive
First, let's also put up what NanoToxin and I discussed 2 weeks ago. I'm not really sorry for getting around to solving this matter; I actually did ask the head memes but never got around to enacting the decisions. For you see, I was busy. Anyways, here it is. Incog summarized his first attempt quite aptly: "It was just a prank, bro," is a very valid description for how NanoToxin chose to approach the issue. Taking no responsibility for his shit. Though he did kind of seem more reasonable in this appeal. Well, until this little snippet: And back to taking no responsibility, nor even acknowledging his actions, he goes. Actually, he managed to even further minimize his role in this whole affair. Here's the thing: he absoloutely did more than just make a meme over Discord. The meme persisted until we banned the folks doing it over Discord, NT probably included (though this is hard to verify because Discord tracking is a bitch). And then he and Ryfer carried the meme into the game. We banned Ryfer, but for some reason, we didn't ban the alt account NanoToxin was using. Which was just about the only mistake done here: he should have been banned sooner. And yes, he did use an alt account, one which I was able to verify as being him by digging up some logs and matching both computerID and IP addresses to ones used by NanoToxin around that time. We do not get legitimate trolls here often, we truly do not. But I would class NanoToxin's conduct as that of a troll's. And we have a history of being very strict with people who legitimately troll to the detriment of others. Further, Garnascus, I do not think we should even begin entertaining an unban until NanoToxin figures out his role in this whole affair. Because he's clearly yet to take responsibility for his actions, and is trying to be dishonest about the matter. -
Constantly deflecting issues and blame is a trait which belongs to children, or those who have been through a bit more than what we within this community are capable of offering to you. Regardless, to the extent that you display it here, it is inexcusable and goes a long way to undermine your own attempts at getting unbanned. Aggression is also a fun thing to discuss. Sure, aggression tempered with sound mind is a great tool. In fact, I use it myself. But as with everything, it must be applied in measured doses. Let us remind ourselves of you acting like an aggressive child over multiple occasions (on Discord, in the complaint against you by specifically calling someone a little bitch, and with you unban appeal juke). I'm sure that list is way longer, was I to bother looking. And please do not attribute any of these to anything other than your inability to handle yourself: ultimately, it was and always has been your choice to stay here and conduct yourself as you have been. You've always been free to leave, had you believed you were mistreated severely enough. You always had the choice to do just not call someone a little bitch. Or to walk away from this community with your dignity. But no. You chose to act the way you did. And that is why both me and Abo think this is wasted breath. Also. I never claimed Schev was blameless. But you are deflecting your own shortcomings onto him. Considering that 80% of your words are wasted on tirades about him and clearthoughts. With one measly sentence addressing your absolute failure to leave your own dignity intact.

Here-in lies one critical nuance. Others can perceive you as being a total ass even if you acted "nicely" towards them at an individual level. When this happens, it's usually because you are, in general, an ass. And give off the vibe of being an ass. Ultimately, you're deflective, aggressive, and an ass. Even when scapegoats like Delta are not involved.
